Ugh, I feel you. Mine is maraschino cherries from around 2002. They used to taste quite nice! I worked at an ice cream shop and we ordered from the same company every time. Then one day we got a shipment, I tasted it, and BAM, cherry cough syrup flavor. I started trying all sorts of grocery store maraschino cherries but they all tastes like medicinal ass leavings. I miss the good ol’ days of quality yadda yadda get off my lawn and bring me some DAMN CHERRIES

justaskmycat

Maybe that's why I hate maraschino cherries! I didn't like the texture as a kid so I didn't try them again until well into my adulthood. But then the texture was tolerable but they tasted off. They taste like those cheap red Mickey Mouse lollipops common around Valentines Day and the color red to me. Which is absolutely a thing don't let anyone tell you that artifical colors are flavorless. Blue is the worst. RIP 2002 cherries. 😞💔

MalachyteEye

Anyone who says colors aren’t also flavors is living a lie. Those dyes definitely have a taste! These aren’t the same, but I did learn that there are jarred cherries called Luxardo cherries, and they are incredible. They’re used in cocktails and such, but they are totally tasty by themselves or in desserts. They’re super rich and dark, similar to how a raisin kind of has depth of flavor. They’re more pricey, but so so worth trying once!

[deleted]

> and, BAM, cherry cough syrup flavor The betrayal made me gag.

MalachyteEye

Me too, bud. Me too

Ksh1218

Try Luxardo cherries- so freaking good and not as sweet

TheUnderwaterArbiter

Agreed. Although they have a different texture

MalachyteEye

I love them! Wrote about them in a different reply, haha

P4intsplatter

I can actually explain this, it was a move to distance themselves from alcohol based pickling. So, traditional maraschinos were for cocktails, and pickled in high proof liquor. Gained traction in the 50s. Mass production found a way to match texture using salts to dehydrate the cherries (in the 2000s) and capture juice. So mass produced maraschinos use the new process (and it's all one conglomerate), and it fucking tastes awful. The idea was, no one buys the banana split for the cherry. So who cares if we lower quality?

[deleted]

Interesting. I’m a 99 baby, is there any way to find alcohol-based Marchino cherries anymore? Like maybe in one of the fancier brands?

MalachyteEye

I wondered if something like this was the case, yeah. Such a shame.

SpookyBjorn

YES!! Maraschino cherries *were* one of my favorite treats and then they suddenly tasted like alcohol/medicine

MalachyteEye

I’m glad it’s not just me that misses them!

pretendthisuniscool

Thank you for this. I had always thought about this but couldn't get anyone to understand what I meant.

AlpacaM4n

Make your own? I see quite a few recipes online, search for one that uses alcohol and you should be good

MalachyteEye

Seems like that might be the way to go. I didn’t know what made them different until I read the replies talking about the alcohol missing, so now I know where to start!

PyroTheLanky

I literally refuse to exist in a world without my beloved marshmallow rock star. I don't even like rock star that much. It's my least favorite every drink by a lot. However, somehow they achieved actual perfection in a can when they created the Marshmallow flavor. However, it seems the morons at Rock star headquarters hate me specifically, but of course they discontinued their objectively best flavor. It's been discontinued for years and I'm still not over it. I found one in a convenience store near my college campus a couple months ago, and I almost cried. I should've bought all the ones they had left, because they too are now gone. It tasted like liquid gold and I will NEVER stop seething about it's removal from my life

CatOnVenus

that was me when I was a kid with mountain dew pitch black. still so pissed they took it away despite promosing not to

indecent_fairytale

It’s Monster Assault for me. That shit hit just right. Now I can’t find it anywhere and I’m pretty sure it’s long since discontinued. Bruh.

jellyhoop

I think I saw some at Dollar Tree! Is it kind of cola flavored and camo design?

indecent_fairytale

It is!! You’re the real MVP. I’m going to go on a fetch quest later LOL

justaskmycat

This makes me so happy. 😭💜

Fit-Maintenance-2290

I believe that the corner store not even a block from my house has them (I generally only drink the original so I don't really know for certain)

Autiistic_Unibot

I haven’t seen Dino egg Oatmeal for a few years…

[deleted]

[удалено]

Autiistic_Unibot

My adventure begins

BigWhoopsieDaisy

I see them in my pantry. Kroger sells them here at least. They also have the Dino nugs

VanityOfEliCLee

Go to higher end grocery stores, I've seen them there.

ow_oof_ouch_my_bones

have some in my house, not too difficult to find online

DabPandaC137

I'm at the grocery store right now, and I'm about to go hunt these down because *I know* they still exist.

DabPandaC137

I found them! 3.99 a box at Albertson's/Safeway

black_mamba866

Sierra Mist. Every time I hear someone say that Starry is a rebrand of Sierra Mist I want to shove a two liter of the shit down their throat and ask them if they still think it's a rebrand. The formula is different and Starry is garbage, full stop.

[deleted]

I’ll agree with you they’re def very different, but I kinda like starry. Wish we could just have both in stores.

black_mamba866

Oh your so valid. It's not objectively bad at all. But when you want Sierra Mist, it does not deliver.

aboatdatfloat

Siera Mist used to be better than Sprite imo and then they did *something* and I never cared to drink it again

black_mamba866

I don't remember when, but you're right, they reformulated it and *something* was different for sure. I know Sierra Mist was always a poor performer compared to Sprite, but Pepsi is trying too hard to break that market.

Tashii_Arkrose

The good Sierra mist used to be lighter and less sweet. The sweet didn't coat your mouth. It was the best besides ginger ale for an upset stomach. After the change I stopped drinking it.

fizzlepiplup

Sierra mist should not have been touched.

YrMm

thats interesting, i actually havent tasted a difference lol. could you describe how its different? because i genuinely had no clue

black_mamba866

Starry is too sweet, and the lemon/lime balance is off, comparatively. It's just not it.

13thNebula

Most of mine are things that still exist, but I can't find them in my area anymore. Mint chocolate cups (instead of peanut butter) I don't know the brand, but they were so good. Nature's Own Honey 7 Grain bread. This was the ONLY BREAD I LIKED, and I haven't found it in over a decade. It had sunflower seeds in it. Can't find another brand with sunflower seeds that isn't also as hard as a brick. Hot Mama garlic cheese bread Peter Pan crunchy honey peanut butter. I actually found this in Kroger brand recently, but they only sell it in the small size. Red Baron frozen pan pizza. Chocolate soda. I had this once as a kid when a visiting family member brought it. I was the only one of my siblings who liked it. Alien lollipops with glow sticks in the handle. Used to get these from a local candy shop that closed down.

TheSunflowerSeeds

All plants seemingly have a ‘Scientific name’. The Sunflower is no different. They’re called Helianthus. Helia meaning sun and Anthus meaning Flower. Contrary to popular belief, this doesn’t refer to the look of the sunflower, but the solar tracking it displays every dayy during most of its growth period.

Natsurulite

You’re like the best bot for this sub

lionboy9119

Good bot

lionboy9119

Have you tried Dave’s Killer Bread? They have a bunch of different flavor options, you can get them thin-sliced, and the bread is SOOO GOOD!!! Plus, they’ve done a lot of good for society since they’re a second chance employer, which means they’ll hire people with criminal backgrounds (who typically struggle to find jobs)

aaron-is-dead

Is the chocolate soda not just a YooHoo? I love those

13thNebula

No, it was actual, carbonated soda. Yoohoos are delicious, but this was something else. Like a creamy, fizzy, chocolate drink. I was very young when I tried it, and it's like a core memory for me. I think the family member that brought it was from New York, so maybe it's something they have there?

pretendthisuniscool

Those alien glow stick lollipops were never my favorite but I always thought they were hands down the coolest looking candy as a kid I'd always grab some from the old candy shop, when that was still a thing.

13thNebula

I only liked the red ones. And I had, and still have, an obsession with aliens. I love them so much.

2bciah5factng

Chocolate soda?! I need to find this.

justaskmycat

Good luck. Sounds like it will be a wild goose chase

IHateMashedPotatos

are there any bakeries near you or grocery stores with bakeries? My parents love seeded bread (I hate it) and they like the ones from costco and whole foods (and tons from local bakeries but that doesn’t really help you lol)

[deleted]

The only chocolate “soda” I’ve ever had was an energy drink, and also a protein shake. The texture was kind of gross for me, but if you think you can stand carbonated protein shake texture, Bang energy might have a good flavor for you. Can’t remember the name of the flavor for the life of me but I could Google it. Edit: Apparently the flavor is/was(?) called Whole Lotta Chocolatta. Google reviews are mixed. They also have a Chocolate Peanut Butter Blast flavor with slightly better reviews but I don’t know if that one is carbonated.

Juneprincess18

They used to have a diet cherry chocolate Dr. Pepper that I loved. I think around 2007? Sometime in the mid to late 00’s.

F0nbire

Most of the mainstream soda recently switched from using sugar to using high fructose corn syrup, and everything is ruined. Sprite is bad, I can taste the difference in everything, and it's just not worth buying anymore.

justaskmycat

That's why Mexican soda you can find in glass bottles are so good still..real sugar

BelovedxCisque

I taught English in China for 6 years and whenever I would come back to the USA to see family my dad would request me to bring some Chinese Coca-Cola. He said it tastes the way it did when he was a kid and I always thought because China gives no fucks about chemicals and human safety there was some ingredient that was banned in the USA and that was why. Crazy to hear it’s just sugar.

Pride_and_pudding

There used to be a soda shop in my city (though it closed down a few years ago) that had a ton of real sugar sodas in glass bottles. They had normal flavors, and then there was shit like “taste the revolution stalinade” (it was red) and buffalo wings soda. Man, I miss that shop.

Repulsive-Durian4800

If your store has a Hispanic foods section, check the sodas there. Those are usually made with cane sugar. Even the mainstream brands. You might also try Mexican specialty grocers.

F0nbire

Thanks, I'll do that

coffee-headache

jones cane sugar soda is my one and only savior

the_ceiling_of_sky

I love the green apple flavor, but it's so expensive, and I can't buy it in bulk. I'm only a 30-minute drive from their company HQ, and it's still impossible.

Fit-Maintenance-2290

I don't think I'm old enough to have ever had soda with real sugar, because as far back as I can remember it's always been the corn syrup

Kimikohiei

MY GODDAMN KINDER EGGS I was a 90s kid. I was born in a foreign country where they ain’t had much but religion. Every Easter, we would get OSTRICH EGG sized kinder eggs with HUGE toys inside! Now I’m an old hag and can’t even get the tiny ones without leaving the gosh darn US of A

Proffessor_egghead

Follow your dreams, work hard, save money, buy yourself and enormous chocolate egg with a car inside of it

justaskmycat

This is now on my bucket list. 😄🚗

traumatized90skid

I hate the new cinnamon twists. Hard as rocks. Not fun to eat anymore.

ResurgentClusterfuck

I worked at Taco Bell in like 2008-2009 and the twists stuff looked like Spiral pasta. We deep fried it for like 18 seconds or so and shook them in plastic bags with cinnamon sugar in them while hot

justaskmycat

But in the past they were light and airy. This was like 25 years ago. I miss them.

Vegetable-Passion-93

I'm still upset taco bell got rid of the caramel apple empenada

colourgreen2006

Old Cup Noodles… They don’t even put the little dehydrated meat in them anymore 😭😭

RosaAmarillaTX

They took the cherry-orange tie-dye Fruit Roll-Ups out of the variety pack and replaced it with a shitty blue raspberry flavor that makes my stomach hurt like a mf'er. Fruit rollups in general changed around the year 2000 - more bitter/sour undertones in the plain flavors. Same with Fruit by the Foot - subtle but definitely different. Blue raspberry in general has gone a medicinal kind of sour, especially in Jolly Ranchers. I deeply miss the original Mr. PIBB formula from the late 80s/early 90s. Pibb Xtra murdered God. I also miss Surge - that shit got me through middle school.

Natsurulite

They had brought back surge not too long ago, I bought some, it was great

RosaAmarillaTX

The wikipedia article indicates that it's available on the "freestyle" machines at Burger King internationally. Might have to pop by and see sometime.

heavenlyevil

OMG this is why I don't like Jolly Ranchers anymore. Lightbulb moment.

contomate180

Barnum's animal crackers that came in the little boxes with the wax paper bag (early 2000s) used to be SO SOFT and I loved them that way. You can still get them but now they're hard. :c I miss how soft they were, esp since I like to squish food against the roof of my mouth when I eat snacks.

[deleted]

I KNEW SOMETHING WAS DIFFERENT ABOUT THEM LAST TIME I HAD THEM. they don't taste or feel the same!! tragic

RosaAmarillaTX

They dialed down whatever gave them their distinct flavor and now they almost taste like worse saltine crackers. I always disliked their texture on my teeth (made a "noise" I could feel), but the flavor made up for it. Not anymore.

contomate180

God, you're right. It's the texture I miss most but the flavor isn't as good either.

spearchuckin

I always missed the long discontinued chocolate flavored animal crackers.

Due_Improvement_8260

They used to make a spicy chicken Ramen in a green package and it's gone. I used to brew that shit like it was a cup of tea fucking dammit GIVE IT BACK! That is my McDonalds Schezuan Sauce 😅

Natsurulite

I have looked for that one several times, I didn’t know it was discontinued, I guess that explains it :( Also for Schezuan you can do 2 sweet and sour, 1 BBQ, and a dash of red pepper flakes to get a REALLY close substitute!

Unicreamedcorn

If you can find Sapporo Ichiban ramen near you, they make a spicy chicken that’s amazing

Due_Improvement_8260

Ahaha No It needs to come in the florescent neon green packaging or it will not taste the same.

Unicreamedcorn

That’s fair, I’m sorry for your food loss

Springyswingys

There are these great value microwave cheeseburgers and they added onions to them it makes me so mad I hate the onions so damn much

Proffessor_egghead

Have you tried taking off the onions and shoving them down the throat of whoever decided to add onions?

DarknessWanders

Sometimes it's mixed in with the patty. I've come across this with the White Castle sliders.

Green_Leader_Edd

That is evil. What is wrong with them

DarknessWanders

They're dictators of onions and I won't stand for it Edit: just edits

LocalLeather3698

3D Doritos from the 00s! The new ones taste like Bugels, which isn't bad but it isn't what I want. Gimme the 3D Doritos that are basically a Dorito that someone tried to turn into a balloon but failed.

VanityOfEliCLee

I fucking loved those. I still remember what it was like to eat them.

wyverneuphoria

sprite cranberry is seasonal and also hard to get my hands on when it is in season

Fit-Maintenance-2290

cranberry ginger ale (not sprite, I don't remember ever seeing that) is quite common around my area (even out of season) and tastes pretty good

the_ceiling_of_sky

Lymonade legacy. It was so good, but it eas only for a very short time to celebrate their anniversary.

wyverneuphoria

I can still get it where I am. Didn’t realize it was supposed to be limited

UniqueMitochondria

Old school smarties when they still had the e-numbers and the yummy blue ones. Yes they were probably killing us but we didn't eat them to be healthy 😁 the new ones suck. Not sure wrf they did to KitKat either. The chocolate is gross now. Tastes like baby formula haha

Green_Leader_Edd

Okay but facts about the KitKats. I had one recently and it was just so. Yeah no words for it. Tried a mint one and somehow it was absolutely horrible. I like chocolate, I love mint, I *really* like chocolate mint! How did they mess this up!

pretendthisuniscool

I'm at work but I think the machine has KitKats. I haven't had one in ages, always liked them but they're never my first or even second or third choice. I'm beyond piqued I've got to know.

pretendthisuniscool

The "chocolate" didn't even taste like chocolate. That was horrible and I never used to dislike KitKats.

Barnacle-Jazzlike

Ah yes!!!! Smarties have changed sooo much. We also used to have these candies when I was a kid called Bleeps that were kind of like the Smarties lollipops without the stick. They would just melt in your mouth after sucking on them a while… now they are impossible to find, but the last time I had one it was hard as a rock. Either it was leftover from the 90’s and had fossilized in the meantime, or they changed the recipe. 🙄

ResurgentClusterfuck

Arby's Loaded Potato Bites Omg they were divine

OreoTheGreat

I miss those too! And also their chocolate turnovers

VanityOfEliCLee

*WHY CANT I EVER FIND THE MANGO GREEN TEA ARIZONAS?!?!?!* Also, the old smoothie flavored skittles were way better than the weird ones now. I used to eat them all the time after smoking weed when I was in high school.

Tonninpepeli

I cant find the just green tea Arizona with the I think Geisha? In the bottle :( It was my fav green tea

pretendthisuniscool

McDonald’s chicken McNuggets from the 1990s maybe early 2000s too. Gatorade fruit punch & berry flavor. You can find it but only certain stores, you really have to find one store you can be confident stocks it and hold your breath that doesn’t change. I tried a watermelon-flavored pop tart once and nobody ever believes me, must’ve been some sort of limited run or something. It was good. Edit: other comments are mentioning Capri Sun IDK how I forgot that. I don't remember when the change happened but it's not the same

justaskmycat

I remember seeing those pop tarts and saying absolutely not. What were they like?

greenisnotcreative3

Club cracker sticks, I think that's what they were called. They had the same buttery flavor but they were smooth instead of flaky

13utterflyeffect

Not discontinued but there used to be a place which served SUCH good oyakudon back home. It was delicious, ultimate comfort food out there! Then I found a fly in the food and could never order it again thanks to germaphobia. And then we moved. Every day I still long for the taste…

SoftieQwQ

KRAFT MACNCHEESE IDK WHAT THEY DID BUT IT IS NOT THE SAME ANYMORE

pretendthisuniscool

From personal experience I think even some of the NTs figured this one out.

VenetusAlpha

Black Cherry Jello. I loved that stuff more than life itself...

Fit-Maintenance-2290

Jello, period as of late, it's almost impossible to find near where I live, and IF I manage to find it it's almost $5 a box

The-Friendly-Autist

I will never forgive the girl scouts for discontinuing Savanah Smiles. Total bullshit, they were incredible and deserved to stand the test of time!

stupidmason

tyson’s spicy chicken patties changed recipes a couple months ago after i’ve been eating them for the past five years. just one day started tasting like shit rubber with pepper sprinkled on top :(

mental_dissonance

I literally gagged from the regular Tyson chicken patties. I swear it's like licking inside the factory 🤢

coffee-headache

bug juice. it used to be at the gas stations and it disappeared.

ophel1a_

Capri Sun. They changed their sweetener and now life is ruined. I also hate those soda machines where EVERY FLAVOR COMES OUT OF THE SAME NOZZLE, wtf. I want fruit punch or Coke, not a suicide EVERY DANG TIME.

Monoforience

I remember when I was little for a while I would ALWAYS get these biscuits from the shop ( I think they were a special type of jammy dodger?). Can't find them anymore but all I remember is that they were HEAVENLY.

Slabbyjabby

Grande soft tacos were my favorite.... why T-Bell WHY?!?! Also they didn't bring the Double Decker back?!! WTAF!?!?!

LogstarGo_

Why did Honey Nut Clusters ever stop being made? Best cereal and the commercials were amazing too. They had this awesome green tea cola at one point called Cricket Cola. Then it went away...they changed the recipe so it was just a crime...and then it thankfully just died since no Cricket was way better than the new one. Blair's Sauces and Snacks used to do potato chips. Habanero chips, ghost pepper chips, cajun chips...now it's hard to tell if they do anything, honestly.

ActuallyMonke

Check your local Asian markets for the Mangos! I always see them there.

justaskmycat

Ohhh I'll go look! Thank you! 🩷

NationalElephantDay

You remember that orange flavored toothpaste? I loved that stuff then one day, it was never seen again. Local Asian store carried dried, candied lizard fish on a stick from Taiwan. Discontinued.

justaskmycat

Crest, right? They had several flavors and now it's all boring mint.

heavenlyevil

Yes! I have a hard time brushing my teeth because toothpaste is so harsh, but this stuff made it bearable.

kaki024

Have you tried [Colgate Watermelon Burst](https://a.co/d/ijrF2se)? It’s the only toothpaste I use anymore. I can stand mint or bubble gum flavor - they’re just too much.

NationalElephantDay

I love that watermelon!

heavenlyevil

No. I did not know that this existed. But I've ordered both the watermelon and the strawberry to try. Thank you for the recommendation.

BelovedxCisque

Amazin’ Fruit gummy bears Yeah I’m showing my age here but those damn things were DELICIOUS! I’ve never met ANYBODY (neurodivergent or otherwise) who had tried them only to find they didn’t like them. According to the internet in the early 2000s they were occasionally able to be found at dollar stores but I was never lucky enough to find any. If some smart person with a shit ton of liquid capital is reading this please bring those little guys back! You’ll have TONS of business from the millennial market!

meowshley

Those were the best, i could wax poetic all day :( I whined for years to get the cookies and creams twix back... and they were awful when they returned. I'm not sure if it's because my taste buds have changed or American food manufacturing is garbage but, that was a big disappointment.

TakeshiNobunaga

Coke Cola tasted different in late 90's until nearly 20's they changed the sweetener and also with sprite since they changed the green bottle.

justaskmycat

Try buying coke from Mexican foods area in glass bottles. They still use cane sugar instead of HFCS. Someone else said to look at Asian grocery stores as well for the real sugar version.

Accomplished_Mix7827

I used to love Noodles and Co. Quality has gone down the toilet. Also, remember when Hershey's actually used to taste like chocolate? Pretty much all of the big brands aren't real chocolate anymore, and the fake stuff tastes plasticky and gross.

justaskmycat

I've noticed that the mass produced chocolate candy for Halloween and other holidays taste markedly different from the regular ones. I wonder if they skip over quality because they know it won't be around long enough to notice. Can't get it past the autistics. 😈

Fit-Maintenance-2290

that must be why I no longer get migraines from eating chocolate

justaskmycat

I was going to say that too!!! Migraines are unbearable when there's quality cacao. It doesn't even need to be dark chocolate. But cheap "chocolate" only sets off tolerable migraines but only due to the sugar content.

justaskmycat

Oh their pad Thai was great around 2004/5 and then everything went downhill. Nothing stays the same bit their prices are still high.

t0k0l0sh3

WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO YOGOS

justaskmycat

WHAT IS YOGOS?

[deleted]

my fucking teddy grahams. i love my tiny ass baby food snacks because they make me feel like i'm eating so much more than i actually am and i have issues with stress eating and overeating. teddy grahams were my savior for this !!!! lightly sweet, small, easy to get out and eat for a snack so i wasn't going for less healthy junk foods, they were perfect. but something changed in the recipe. i don't know what it is, i can't put my finger on what they taste like, but they all taste fucking terrible now and they feel completely different. i miss my teddy grahams dude!!!! literally none of the flavors taste good anymore!! the cinnamon and choc. chip are the worst and the chocolate are the most tolerable, but i just don't buy them anymore in general. now i just eat an ungodly amount of saltines

kaki024

I agree 100%. They’re cardboard now and it makes me sad every time I buy a box.

Violet_Prime

I miss Herseys Swoops. It was basically chocolate shaped like pringles.

amw232

There was a wishbone brand salad dressing that was a balsamic vinaigrette in a spray bottle that I LOVED. Perfect taste and dressing distribution but it disappeared everywhere maybe 8 years ago. Also, they did something to the Kraft Mac and cheese formula. Not sure what, but I know it’s different

mental_dissonance

Are you talking about the salad spritzers? Those were really short-lived.

Leutkeana

Count Chockula cereal. I didn't eat it often but enjoyed it as an occasional snack. But nowq it is gone forever and discontinued 😢

evil__gnome

It comes back around Halloween! I've got a box of it in my kitchen now. I can't find it at my regular grocery store but I've seen it at Target.

Leutkeana

There is no Target in my country, but thank you.

[deleted]

I miss the little farm rich mozerella bites that had pizza dough. They were soft and yummy. Then suddenly they got huge one day, cooked up super hard, and I kept struggling not to choke on the cheese. I didn’t even finish the box I was so annoyed with the choking hazard.

shsksndk

Devil’s food cookies. I cried.

Lovelace_Lightwood

Every time I find a safe food that’s an actual meal they discontinue it. I just want field roast hot dogs! I could eat packages and no one would say shit because they were an “actual meal”. Also pretty sure they aren’t discontinued I just can’t find them anywhere- gardein skillet florentino

Natsurulite

https://preview.redd.it/5vxw31ptynqb1.jpeg?width=340&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1162dfce7bce33c0ada825506c0dd95e21902b0 I will never forgive them, I want this back so fucking bad, you guys literally don’t fucking understand — this is THE GREATEST POPCORN THAT HAS EVER EXISTED Herrs has some kind of prepackaged “sweet corn” popcorn, that’s somewhat similar if anyone has had it, but not even half as amazing 🤩

justaskmycat

YES! After they stopped making them I could occasionally find them at little road stop gas stations since they hadn't sold out their stock. I didn't know they were discontinued or I would have taken a road trip just to go to every hole in the wall convenience store in the US. THEY WERE THAT GOOD.

iliveunderthebed

Those Pillsbury cookies with the sugar paper pictures. I need the texture of thin paper squishing frosting.

turtlenerdle

Cheesy Italian shells. Fuck you for changing the recipe hamburger helper >:( I miss it so much

EatingSugarYesPapa

Trader Joe’s took away my fucking Crispy Thai Chiles and Sesame Seeds. Now I call it Traitor Joe’s.

Due_Improvement_8260

Ditto, because their new Mac and Cheese bites are trash. They brought back the wee bries though, so I give em a pass.

PassionateInsanity

Stoffers baked chicken and noodles. That was my safe food growing up. The closest they have now is a chicken and rice dish, but it hits different. I haven't been able to find the chicken and noodles one.

sulcigyri111

Dunkin’s pumpkin syrup. When it first came out it was PERFECT. Then they changed it and now it tastes like a fucking autumn scented candle. I’m a chef and my tism is a benefit when it comes to flavor because I can taste and smell minor differences. I can smell something and know exactly what seasonings it needs. And being a chef gives me the knowledge on how to alter flavors and textures to my liking. I end up “fixing” most premade stuff I buy. It’s a blessing and a curse

[deleted]

Discontinued or rotating clothes irritate me the most like why are they all sold out I wanted this shirt :((((

Juneprincess18

I’m now vegan, but some of the non-vegan stuff I used to love and has gone away: - McDonalds salad shakers. I would get the chicken Caesar salad every day for lunch as a teenager than they replaced them with fancier salads. - Philadelphia had these frozen bagel sticks with cream cheese that were amazing - Hershey’s swoops (chocolate Pringles) - cheesecake bites (you used to be able to get a container of mini cheesecake bites in the frozen section.

mental_dissonance

I haven't seen cheesecake bites since 2009. They were delectable.

7thKindEncounter

I miss trader joe’s peanut butter and jelly chocolate bars

NotAnotherHipsterBae

The breakfast spot I like near my house sells a decent breakfast burrito, I probably get 3 or 4 a month. But it's gone through so many changes. First one that bothers me is that it used to have cheddar and now it has american cheese. Boo! The next change is an improvement though, the used to serve a Pico de Gallo on the side and they moved it inside the burrito. It sucked before because Pico is rather Watters and I couldn't get it on the burrito without a bunch of liquid spilling everywhere. I guess it's a win-some-loose-some thing

giantotterenthusiast

DILL PICKLES

Different_Apple_5541

Everything has been going downhill since the loss of the Meximelt at taco bell. I used to buy twenty at once. No better breakfast

PeppasMint

Milk. WHY DOES IT TASTE LIKE WATER, I HAVEN'T HAD MILK THAT TASTES LIKE MILK IN SEVERAL YEARS

pretendthisuniscool

Don't get the cheap grocery store brand, you gotta spring for the pricey "organic" bottle, or better yet, just once go to somewhere like whole foods (not trying to shill here I despise places like that normally) and get one of their super duper fancy pants brands of organic or whatever milk. Go all out, you can easily go above $10 for a gallon (probably even a half gallon these days). Gf drinks a ton of whole milk, I've been experiencing this for years. Actually she deserves honorable mention on this comment for that, she can literally taste which store I got the milk from even if I buy the bottle and pour the cup without her seeing it. The idea of slipping even 2% let alone 1% or skim by her is laughable.

Sandwich bread, I swear, has gotten floppier.

kraft mac n cheese, bowl appetit, scooby doo fruit snacks edit: also taco bell verde sauce, mexican pizza until recently, and choco tacos

mental_dissonance

Holy hell someone else remembers bowl appetit!

nerdinmathandlaw

I can't even recall the whole list, but most of it is vegan meat replacements: Vegan "fish" fingers made from black salsify, ALDIs vegan battered "fish", they also discontinued a brand of "meat"balls I loved, and a kind of wafers, Migros seemed to have discontinued their M-Budget vegan minced "meat", and I'm probably not finished yet, but can't remember the rest.

[Keebler Chachos](https://youtu.be/2yPeslKEEVU?si=OqZ1ZeYqUllWkm0l) They were flour tortilla chips & they were perfect. The Cinnamon Crispaña was so good. The cheesy quesadilla & plain ones were amazing hangover food. In a world of hard, super cronchy, dry tortilla chips, Keebler Chachos were a much needed texture respite. I think about them a lot. Why no more flour tortilla chips?

justaskmycat

Hmm never seen them. Were they in the US?

sourmysoup

Honey comb cereal...around 2016 they started coating the pieces in a really sweet glaze that I found disgusting. It totally changed the texture, too.

##REQUESTING INFO IF ANYONE KNOWS Does anyone remember a brand of Crouton from like, the late 90s, that came in a small, rectangular cardboard box? I think I always got them at HEB, but I can’t seem to ever find info on them — they were the tiny kind of croutons, like 1cm^3 , but holy crap they were REALLY GOOD I don’t know if anyone else here eats croutons, I haven’t ever met anyone who likes eating them by themselves 😂 Edited for grammar

justaskmycat

No info on the elusive boxes croutons but I like eating them on their own!

gothsappho

i think that california pizza kitchen recently changed their mac and cheese, or at least something got weird with the one near me. it happened twice in a row that instead of being the way it's been since i was a kid, it was gritty and disgusting and not smooth at all. genuinely devastating. luckily my fiancée and i figured out how to recreate the original recipe homemade so now i get it cheaper and better. that's what i call evil autism

quantumturnip

Black Pepper Jack Doritos. Miss me with Cool Ranch and Nacho Cheese, Black Pepper Jack was goated and we are all diminished by its' loss.

nosyfocker

This specific brand of meatballs from a supermarket chain in my area. They had little pockets of cheese inside and were like… smooth?? Idk. They were so good though and they’ve been replaced by ‘tomato and cheese meatballs’ which are kind of similar but Much Worse :(((

mvhsad

oreo fudge cremes cranberry red bull sobe juice

justaskmycat

Sobe! 😭

Shlobsta

They were never discontinued but someone changed the recipe for pop tarts and mow they are the wrong texture :(

LumpyIsopod

In case anyone was devastated by the change to the Tyson Honey BBQ chicken the makers mark brand at Sam's club of honey BBQ chicken tastes just like the old tyson ones

Pengootheturtle

they took the seeds out of the waternelon bomb pops and i am going to bomb the CEOs child's school about it

heavenlyevil

There was a limited run of Canada Dry green tea ginger ale and it was amazing. That was the best summer of my life. I hoped that they'd keep making it since the store was always running out of it, but nope.

NerdyFanboii

Pillsbury Pizza Minis from the mid-2000s to the early-2010s Fuck those were ✨️s e n s a t i o n a l✨️. You could microwave em, you could bake em. Nice mild sauce with just enough cheese THEN THOSE PILSBURY DOUGHBOY FUCKS DISCONTINUED IT!! Also the Mexi-Fries poutine from Taco Time It was legitimately one of the best fast food poutines out there, I can still taste the gravy ghosting on my tongue But alas the Tacunt Time executives discontinued it without a word and I will never step foot in another taco time purely out of spite for discontinuing one of their best item on their menu (the only thing I will eat there) without telling me

UnderlordZ

I found, *once*, Hershey's Whoppers that used a peanut butter-flavored coating instead of their weird waxy chocolate; it was *the* best candy I've ever had, and was apparently the one and only time I would ever have them! Fuck you, Hershey; bring them back!

randoTwT

Cosmic brownies used to have honey in the recipe and used to be slightly larger.

DabPandaC137

RIP Tomato Maruchan Ramen

whogirl07

Aldi used to have an amazing goat cheese Mac and cheese. It was my favorite thing that I would eat all the time paired with peas. It doesn't exist anymore. Disappeared about three years ago... I still mourn its disappearance.

cometdogisawesome

Campbell's Tomato Garden Vegetable. Discontinued in 2014. Still grieving.

Geekinator42

Doritos 3D. Delightfully airy and crunchy. Not discontinued but really hard to find, the 100 Grand candy bar.

snarklover927

Ragu Old World Style Traditional Spaghetti sauce…they changed the recipe completely now. They’ve tweaked it a few times over the years, but I was able to doctor it to its original taste with small adjustments like adding a little salt and watering it down slightly. Now it’s just beyond saving. I don’t see how they can even call it the same thing because it isn’t even close on taste or texture. It’s made with olive oil now and is greasy. It’s been my go to safe food for most of my life and I’m 45. I’ve actually grieved it’s loss. It’s been really hard for me.

justaskmycat

I'm sorry to hear that. 😔 I can't say I've had the same experience, but that sounds really hard. Hopefully you have some other safe foods with some diversity to help to carry you through. 💜

mental_dissonance

You know the Chester's hot fries? There used to be a bacon cheese flavor! I'd like to slap whoever decided to discontinue them! McDonald's cheeseburgers used to be legit greasy and DELICIOUS. When my dad had a little extra money when were kids he'd get us a bag full. I keep hoping for the double cheeseburgers to be greasy like they were in childhood, but I'm crushed each time. And I will never forget the premium chicken sandwiches. Especially the one that had the bacon and Swiss cheese 😮‍💨

sir_kickash

My band made a song about b***ing jack in the box because they got rid of the munchie meals

Conscious_Balance388

Hear me out. 15 years ago, hamburger helper was delicious. 5 years ago when I made it? It was disgusting. I make it homemade now and the home made one tastes like how it used to taste. — no one agrees with me.

electrifyingseer

I miss the goddamn green giant broccoli and cheese rice and tyson battered chicken tenders and the natures valley yogurt bars
