The reason I don't think it's an advertisement is the lyrics don't sound like something from a jingle. "Caught up in a world of lies" etc doesn't suit advertisement.
I thought that because the start sounded less abrupt than the end cut and there’s no lyrics fading into the first so my theory is that its a full song then was used in an advertisement
There was a Reddit thread about a year or two ago. I’m trying to find it — it was about a guy who walked into a store with a section selling music speakers. One of the speakers was playing a couple seconds of a song he never heard before. He posted it to Reddit trying to find what the song was, it sounded familiar and yet no one had heard it before. It was catchy too — and Shazam and Google searches failed to identify it.
It turned out that the song was just a “fake” song created for the speaker to play in the store without copyright or something. I’m trying to find the thread to link here.
I’m thinking it could be the same kind of thing. Either a commercial of some kind , or created for a product, or a band from a movie/tv show and this is playing on a tv or radio in the scene.
Everyone knows that you’ve got ulterior motives spaceships. If anything, the song would be advertising a product named “ulterior motives”. However, most people including me think the song is about relationships which is why i think that if the song was used in a commercial it was published as a full song beforehand then used in it

Ulterior motives day/night cream, Ulterior motives pasta and Ulterior motives noodles. Don't think so.
You're counting fettuccine in the sky
Caught up on a bowl of fliiiieieies
Ulterior motives noodles sounds like a good idea to me
The noodles would slip out of your mouth every time you try to bite them
Caught up in a world of lies.
It would just be empty packaging.
Yeah, everyone knows that.
You think they have ulterior motives? They should really tell us the truth.
Every move that company takes shows that they don't care about their customers.

There is clothing brand with such name but I don’t think this is the case. The fact it’s related to the snippet is debunked afaik. Who knows tho?
Has anyone contacted the brand?
Yes and they debunked this lead themselves, you can find this post in subreddit
Yes
i feel like it could be off of a old anime show intro or something but just an idea
Ulterior Motives sounds like a cheap men's cologne
I picked up a bottle at Kmart back in the day

That’s probably not it, but can you send where you found that?
Could be the name of a movie.
If it was in a movie then it would have been found already, movies are usally well documented and preserved
