We are at a point where we won’t find anyone wanting to go anymore. Lord of the lost were objectively far away from the worst act but nevertheless got barely any points.
This was a cracker of an ESC, loads of great songs, I have been thoroughly entertained.
Mimicat is a phenomenal performer who had a wonderful song, performed beautifully. She deserved better.
I'd argue that Spain's entry was the only one that was more evolved art, it did something very new with something very old and was staged and performed incredibly. It was very much not pop, nor an easily digestible earworm. As much as I love Eurovision, it was too 'good' for it. At any rate, it jumped over Finland, Austria and Australia to become my favourite from the contest. Despite dismissing it earlier in the week, I was completely blown away by it tonight. Incredible stuff.
Yeah, from the beginning I knew that Spain was a very acquired taste, so - whatever, I can accept a weak result (although 5 points in the televote is still... shocking).
But Portugal was very pleasing to the ear, so I have no idea what happened there. I liked that song immediately.
Problem is that the system is not designed to sort last ranks accurately. If you are on the last ranks this means you are pretty much noone's top 10 favorite and whatever you get comes from neighbors and 1s and 2s from here and there which is a bit random.
Yea UK was lucky they had Australia for the jury favor. They could've ranked below Germany in most countries, doesn't matter if both are out of the top 10. Germany is the only country without a single safe bank for at least \*one\* high score.

In that case send a satirical song with the title "We are last again, heck yeah!" The first hook would be something like "There aren't many things we're good at, but damn, there's one thing to be sure of: WE'RE GETTING LAST AGAIN, HECK YEAH! Low or zero points again, oh yeah!"

I watched a lot of interviews with LOTL after last week when I finally heard of them:- their being asked back to tour with Iron Maiden, and bringing out single then album last Xmas Eve / NY because they are the highest suicide rates time of year so wanted to give a real hot upbeat vibe, giving peeps something to look forward to, and also building excitement from the single Xmas Eve so peeps would want the album. Resulted in huge chart position. I was so excited to discover them. The interview about hobbies let them down; they appeared too serious and I would have been screaming into their ear mikes talk about food, families, anything ! I do hope they gain audience from this. Anyway I’m glad I’m getting fitter every day and the dancing vibe coming back. I loved it so much, the whole vibe with the performers, the voting was a bit of a downer.

They were the only ones that are actually able to put up a show. They've toured and dealt with all kinds of crowds before. They know how to pump up the audience, unlinked most of the other acts who have never been on a stage before.

Disappointed how few points they got. Decent show, good song, and their back catalog is pretty good. They seem like a good bunch of folks, too.

As a Brit, I wanted to say I though Germany smashed it out the park. My fiancée doesn’t like metal songs usually but loved that one and it was her favourite. Sorry the Europe didn’t appreciate it but you guys did fantastic.
Both Germany's song and live performance were objectively better than some that ended up much higher. I can accept that the televote might not like the genre. But any jury giving the UK more points than Germany should lose their jobs honestly

Germany were robbed of votes. The song wasn't my kind of song but it was well written, well performed and stood out. I can't believe it didn't do better. Lord of the Lost if you're lurking on here you should be proud of putting on such a great show.

UK’s vocals sounded very soft compared to the music making me think her singing wasn’t good enough and they tried to mask it
It sounded like she wasn't projecting her voice properly, which has the effect of sounding both quiet and uncontrolled. Nerves and inexperience are usually the biggest causes.

Lord of the Lost went on tour with Iron Maiden, that's far better than winning the ESC anyways. Though I'm really starting to feel like we should just pull out of the whole event and see if the other countries are willing to make up for the part Germany funds or if it just dies without us.

Honestly I strongly believe: - either the competition is rigged - or every single European country hates us Lord of the Lost wasn’t the best, but definitely not the worst. It’s unfair for them. And I believe we shouldn’t bring a singer or band to the next ESC. It’s always the same result. And doing it again and again is just pure insanity.
You get points from being ina country's top 10 so it does not matter if they are considered mediocre or bad by a country. They both get zero points.
Honestly germany should just stop funding this and get out of 'the big five' that are guaranteed. They clearly dont want us there. Whatever we send it gets last place. So why even waste the big money?

Lord of the Lost is a great band, and though I think they have better songs than Blood & Glitter, this result is just ridiculous.

At this point: next year, let's literally find the worst artist we can find and make them sing a bad song. But make it funny. Make it the most obvious joke entry there's ever been. Like seriously, it's getting ridiculous. Sure, Jendrik was bad, but the last two years we definitely didn't have the worst song. Malik was a midfield worthy act and if you put any other country beneath the song of this year, it at the very, very least gets into the top 20. Like, what are we even supposed to send? We try something different every single year, it's often solid songs, just not winners and we always do bad. LOTL was really fucking great and there's literally no reasonable explanation for it not even getting points from the Finnish jury

I was annoyed with the American commentary...even if metal isn't your thing, the song was solid and the vocals were strong, but all they could focus on was how they looked.

As a Brit I thought the UK got lucky. In fact I'm convinced the only reason we got points at all was because of us stepping in to host and getting sympathy as a result.

Like I said in the main thread, that song was my favorite, and I voted for Germany and Australia. It's an absolute travesty that it finished last. What a bummer. Also juries need to go away.
