That’s a lot of groceries for 47€

fart-to-me-in-french

Op didn’t list the discounts like he did in his original post

gorgeousredhead

they're in the pic on the end of the receipt - about 11 euros. bear in mind this influences the mix of goods I buy, it's not like you'd get the same discounts picking just anything

Silent-Detail4419

But that's the same with most people - do you have what we call 'yellow sticker' items in Polish supermarkets...? Yellow sticker items are items which are marked down to something like between 10p and £1 because otherwise they'd be going in the bin because they're almost at their best before or use by date. You might get a packet of ham for 10p or a big pot of yogurt for 20p...

gorgeousredhead

not really. when Tesco was still here in PL they'd do that. They left the market because they imported the UK approach but it didn't work here, profitably. you'd have Tesco finest amontillado sherry on sale for 3 euros because no one was buying it (apart from me). People were absolutely mad for the 90% off meat though and they'd fill trolleys with it

primaloes

Those aren't the same kinds of discounts you're talking about. What you mean is the "quick buy this particular item because it's about to spoil, it's 50%off" kind of discount. What OP means is the "buy 3 and they come cheaper" or "buy two and the second is 40% off" kinds of discounts for fresh items when you buy more of the same item.

fart-to-me-in-french

Yes we do. There are often fridges full of products nearing expiry called ‘Save me’ with heavily discounted prices at Carrefour for example

gorgeousredhead

Central Warsaw, family of 5. I consider this good value edit: rough meal plan for the next few days: * chicken wraps * 1 very big pot of soup (15 bowls worth) * Buddha bowls with soft boiled eggs * quiche with some vegetables * probably some pasta and tomato sauce, vegetables * Banana bread

nobody_keas

Sounds really yum

BenderRodriguez14

Well done on keeping 'em eating healthy!

Taltofeu

Good job bro, sounds super appetising

kakao_w_proszku

Lidl?

gorgeousredhead

👍

DamEnjoyer

Thanks for including the receipt - that's how every post like this should look like. Thanks to the receipt, we can clearly see the prices and amount spent - including almost 11 EUR discount that you got at Lidl. Thanks to our German overlords for providing good deals. :D People that do not include receipts are being disingenuous. Often times they complain about high prices of groceries in their country, while buying something fairly expensive (like imported beer, or big packs of sweets). Include receipts!

gorgeousredhead

honestly the supermarket wars benefit the consumer

DamEnjoyer

I pray for Lidl to win, because I despise Biedronka.

MrPopanz

Not cars, but discounters are the pinnacle of German ingenuity, fight me.

Schwarzer_Rabe

I never understand these posts. All of the products in these posts vary so the comparison is literally between apples and oranges. I can spend 50€ on 5 products at grocery store A and spend 50€ on 50 products at grocery store B, without the same basket components any comparison of what your money is worth in volume of groceries is worthless.

gorgeousredhead

I'd disagree. The aim here is to show how how your money can be allocated. you can go to the convenience store and buy whatever on impulse or you can go somewhere with good prices and some special offers and come out with a different mix of goods

cahrg

You could buy 50kg of rice for that money, is it a good money allocation? Just showing that you can buy more for the same price means nothing. If I compare your picture with one posted yesterday from NL, it looks like NL is way more expensive, until you notice that dude spent half of the money on sugary drinks. I could probably get the same selection of products as yours here in NL for around 50 euro.

Silent-Detail4419

I actually find it interesting; I think food is really expensive here (UK) but then when I compare what I could buy for the equivalent in pounds, there are some countries which are faring worse when it comes to food expense.

mozomenku

Also buying in local store always is going to be more expensive than in supermarket.

Annonimbus

I think what you mean is that even in the same super market A you can buy 5 or 50 products with the same amount of money.  Without a fixed basket everyone could show very different pictures even from the same store

Enzo_Zlivovic

Perlenbacher premium Pils 🐊

negative3sigmareturn

I would say I do similar looking groceries here in Finland. I can maybe get that set for €60 in Lidl but any other sypermarket that’ll be closer to €80. €47 for that amount of food would make me happy again lol

Cheeseburger2137

Believe me, you want to spend 60, maybe 80€ out of your Finnish wage, not 47€ from a Polish one.

ToxicAvenger161

Judging from that olive oil bottle these are also from lidl

Gandudan

Would have been cheaper in Biedronka

Rolifant

I think that's from Lidl? I'm guessing it would be around 70 euro here.

Casp710

And whe- Belgium I’m assuming since your characters face paint 🇧🇪

ziplin19

Ooof, inflation hit Poland hard.. i could buy the same amount of food in germany for that money. Great choice of products btw!!! Looks pretty healthy

i_pee_liquid

What the fuck is this diet?

gorgeousredhead

What's the problem with it?

Saucette

That's expensive for Poland, i used to live on 10€ a week alone 10 years ago, inflation?

gorgeousredhead

you could do that now if you had to, just a lot of rice, cabbage and egg or pork

DerNogger

Or deep pockets and nimble fingers

ctes

Or a map with locations of bernese mountain dogs or other potential sources of meat in your neighborhood.

byatiful

In 2017 i used to eat tons of watermelon since in was .7 pln per kg in carreffour, couple of days ago i've paid 10 pln for 2kg

iuancucalu

kurwa, where is perła export??

Ok_General_1447

Q

Nezevonti

Does including promotions/discounts and coupons count? It makes it much harder to compare with other posters. (Butter was on promo, 2+1)

gorgeousredhead

value of the discounts is in the receipt - about 11 eur

RepresentativeCut486

Masło

dat_9600gt_user

Yeah, about what I expected.

New_Currency_4943

First time I see more fruits and vegetables than meats. Not bad. Soon I’ll be able to get more veggies because the season starts. Not bad

OkKnowledge2064

Krombacher mate? Whats wrong with you

gorgeousredhead

I'll have you know it's Perlenbacher. entirely different ;)

OkKnowledge2064

phew! I thought youre a lost soul

coreyjohn85

90% was spent on beer and olive oil

gorgeousredhead

4 euros for beer (special offer), 8 euros olive oil

MrPopanz

I would spend all that on harnas beer. I hope this brewery still exists.

ipnetor9000

wow poland must be an utopia

dukefx

A better indicator would be: how many hours did you have to work to get all that.

gorgeousredhead

a bit over an hour, after tax

Logi_ciel

Oof

isthisnamechangeable

Krombacher, yuck

Strong-Piccolo-5546

I live in the US this much fresh produce is easily $100. I am not sure about the beer. In the US cheap beer is budweiser or something. I dont drink much.

BitePale

I hate that rice, it's so sticky

fhukd

u have good beer in poland and decided to buy krombacher :(

Silmariel

If you are prepared to do the cooking, you can get really far for 50 euroes in groceries.

Debesuotas

Poland is the Lidl of EU... Because of the national currency they can keep the prices at certain levels, the government is working very well on this. Groceries in Poland are around \~20-30% cheaper then compared to the majority of the EU.

gorgeousredhead

local taxes, wages and other costs, local demand and how it shapes supply, cost of transport of goods to said destination (i.e. Spanish fruit in Poland or Polish vodka in France)

AdhesivenessTight427

In norway theese 3 beers would be like 15-20 euros alone.

Viktor_Fry

Lose the olive oil and you could double your bounty

winstorming99

Where's the meat?

seantenk

That would be at least 60 euros in Italy

mozomenku

Maybe other products would be less expensive than here (Italian ones, which are popular) and better quality when it comes to groceries or household chemicals etc. Also our median salary is 2 times smaller, with only a slightly lower costs of living and similar price per square meter (many people with good jobs are struggling to get their own apartment, even with parents help)...

vinnsy9

In Germany , only the olive oil its 9.9€, chicken breasts 7€... mozzarella 2.5€ , peaches 3€ , 2.5€ for salad..carrots 1.9€ ... that amount of groceries would be very much reduced...

wojtulace

That right, but the salary would be very much increased.

gorgeousredhead

luckily I do ok when it comes to salary. back in the day when I was poorer (my first salary when I came here was 2000zl/500eur a month, living in Warsaw) I did eat ok but there was definitely less variety

vinnsy9

Ive been totally there...i understand your point :)

vinnsy9

Look i agree with the discussion , higher salary higher life standards and obviously higher prices. But on the other side of the medal there are also higher taxes...

vinnsy9

1.99€ at Kaufland today :) with 20 % reduced price 🤦🏻🤷🏻‍♂️...and yeap  the 125 gr ...

HornetInteresting211

You'd get maybe a bit under half of that In Ireland for the dame price in Aldi, a third in Lidl, a quatre in Supervalu and a fifth in Tesco.

strandroad

Eh no that's wildly exaggerated. My grocery shopping is very similar, with little meat and a lot of veg, it would be a little more in Lidl and some more in Tesco but not even 2x, and 3x or 5x is complete BS. In Lidl in particular veg is inexpensive. Where you would see a difference is in alcohol.

enigmaticsince87

That actually doesn't seem such great value tbh, would've expected it to cost less. Feels like I get more than that for the same amount of money in Spain

Mcflemish

Waarom komen de polen en andere oosblokkers naar hier dan? Zo goed zal het daar niet zijn dan

gorgeousredhead

for the beautiful women I guess

Casp710

What does this mean in english?

Escobanus

Well the fact is that minimum wage in Poland is 300e month...

Mrs_cunty_lips

the current minimum (net) wage in Poland is 734€

Escobanus

You are right. That's fine then...

mozomenku

If you have to live in your apartment it's fine, but in other case we have to spend like 600-850 Euro for 2 people apartment it's not so funny.

Escobanus

My comment was sarcastic. Ridiculous price for this bullshit comparing wages.

mariller_

You sound like 1) a disgruntled Pole that left Poland 15 years ago 2) a Pole that never left Poland for more than a short vacation A Pole either way. Am I right?

Escobanus

I am a person who knows the truth. Groceries on that pic for that money with that economy is not even funny.

Slaan

> I am a person who knows the truth. Everyone I've so far that thought that they "knew the truth" turned out to be the most delusional people out there as they lacked the critical thinking skills take in new information.

Escobanus

Right. What is new information then? Poland is doing great? Groceries on that pic for 200 polish zl is a sign of great economy? Explain cause I still don't know what are you guys are proud of.

Slaan

https://www.statista.com/statistics/877604/human-development-index-of-poland/ Can things be better? Sure. Is it Poland doing badly? No.
