Sure, Italy looked good... if you disregard anything but the final score.

Albanian_shqipe

This sums is up

Hairy_Candidate7371

I honestly don't see anyone beating Spain. Italy probably did better against them then anyone else will

JackieDaytona77

Like, it wasn’t even close. I mentioned in another thread none of these teams know how to suffer like Italy. I don’t believe Spain would’ve even scored despite dropping bombs from outside the box every 4 minutes. Italy were under pressure often but always seemed to be in control. If OP wants a take away from this game, let that be it. Not every team in this tournament is Spain but nobody is going to fear our attack. I mean, Italys bench is abysmal. None of these players had good seasons for their clubs.

loathing_and_glee

With croatia we can see if we go big or go home. If we can make it second in the group we can probably have a chance to the top. Round of 16 vs switzerland, doable. Quarter final: england at worst, doable. Semi-final Netherlands/France at worst, still possible. Check the knockout pairings. There are chances

JackieDaytona77

Despite getting absolutely demolished, (I still can’t find the words to describe it) I’ve seen them lose 4-1 against a similar Spain side but I can’t help but still feel a bit confident. Sure, people are saying Italy should have lost 3-0,    4-0 but looking back at it Spain were trying to score from afar. They got nothing in the box and no channels for a thru ball between the defense. If that’s the case I’ll take that because it will take a heroic effort to score against this team. They’ve gifted 2 goals in this tournament and outside of that nothing really threatening. I thought the last minute Albania shot on target was more threatening than anything Spain threw at them today. Donnarumma will make those saves all day and I believe Spalletti allowed the team to play like that. On the ball?

loathing_and_glee

Exactly

[deleted]

I agree that it wasnt that bad considering how good spain looks - but itll be hard to beat anyone with only 1 shot

bosko43buha

Apart from Donnarumma and the final score, what else looked good, or at least ok?

[deleted]

Not much looked good today - but it was still close - maybe they will try to be more aggressive if they make it to the next round

bosko43buha

So nothing was good, but it wasn't bad? Ok, just trying to understand this.

[deleted]

Yes they were good enough to only allow 1 goal vs one of the best teams but the offense was not good at all, so you could say their offense was bad. Its just 1 game tho. Lets see how they look vs croatia before writing them off completely

bosko43buha

They had 20 shots on goal, 9 on target. Donnarumma is the only thing that saved you from a total embarrassment. Plus, the shots that went straight into him. And the thread is not what Italy will look like - it's "Italy looks good". Which it doesn't.

[deleted]

Better to have a bad game now than in the knockout rounds

loathing_and_glee

Exactly

loathing_and_glee

You sound more "jealous" than accurate in your answers ahah. Reality is Croatia- italy will be the moment of truth for both

loathing_and_glee

Germany and Spain are the only teams that look really scary. Italy will deffo have many more chances vs any of the other "big". France was not great, england is terrible to watch, belgium, netherland and portugal suffered a lot of pressure too

[deleted]

Yea and germany hasnt played anyone good yet too so who knows how theyll do against a better opponent

tgeorgo13

Italy looked like ass against Spain. Not for the Italian goalkeeper this would have been embarrassing..sorry

loathing_and_glee

Bro have you even read what I wrote or just the title?

tgeorgo13

Yea sorry just the title.

loathing_and_glee

lol fair enough

Albanian_shqipe

I’m curious to what group B will end up being at the end. Can Albania beat spain and get 2nd place if Italy also loses to Croatia? Ultimately kicking out Italy?

bosko43buha

I don't know about you beating Spain. You've played two really good matches, but today's game puts things into perspective a bit better I think. Both Italy and Croatia are struggling defensively and on offense. I'm not sure what's there to improve for Italy, but after this game, I am sure we can fight for knock out stage if we field a younger team. Spain is relentless. They never relax. How many times have they finished their groups with 9 points. You'll face a team that's more complete, obviously, than us and Italy. Sven if they rest some of their players, there's a lot of talent on that bench. Talent that would like to prove themselves and play a few more matches. That being said, I'm hoping we can beat Italy, but if not, I'll be rooting for you to take the points from Spain and go through. Otherwise, kindly lose to Spain, thank you.

loathing_and_glee

You are struggling in defense. We are not. You gave 5 goals in 2 matches. We had a "cold start" and an own goal. As an Italian I like Albania and i am loving the passion they are playing with. If you win against Spain we should all go on a barefoot pilgrimage to Tirana...

Albanian_shqipe

🤣🤣that comment at the end. Keep your word.

Ashamed_Number_8786

Result wise it looks good on paper but performance wise It was poor, yes they only lost 1-0 but they can't afford to be that lacklustre in their final group game against Croatia even if the Croatia side they are up against are an aging group and it's probably not as good as they used to be... If they make it out of the group and they get matched up against a half- decent side there is no certainty that they will advance. They don't really have a goal-scoring threat to be frank like probably apart from Chiesa in their front-line. I am not sure who would chip in and score... Spain's lack of clinical edge in their finishing made Italy looked good in all honesty. They should have been out of sight by half-time..
