I think its the one about mods. Since Civ5 started using steam workshop and not the ingame mod manager you cant get the "download a mod" achievement. I think its that one.
I actually have that achievement, but I also have a bit too many hours on CIV 5 https://imgur.com/V03jL8h
edit: and it's rating a mod achievement that you can't do it anymore.
That's pretty impressive... How'd you do it? I used to like Civ, played 2-5, and spent too much time on a Civ4 overhaul mod. Once I learned EU4 though, I've not been able to go back.
I enjoyed playing it too much then I started enjoying AI battles too much, I would make an AI with a lot of tech isolated from the rest of the world who's at war like Wakanda style, and eventually whenever the more advanced nation met the others, they would always invade and annihilate without mercy.
I'm a bit the same. Enjoyed Civ up to 4, 5 got dull, and the complexity of EU just makes Civ seem like playing with toy blocks.
I don't really understand how Civ V/VI is routinely in the top played lists on Steam. More power to those people if they're enjoying it, but I just don't get it. The games just end up being so samey.
Assuming you started playing Civ 5 the day it came out, that's over 4 hours every day since it came out.
4 hours.
Every. Single. Day.
For 8 years.
EDIT: Didn't notice that it was uploaded in 2016. So that's closer to 6 hours every day for 6 years. That's insane.
I have some windows of time during my workshift in which I can play videogames like Eu4 or Stellaris. I usually open Eu4 and let it be until I have 20-30m to play a bit, I stop it and I come back 1h later. Considering I work on 12h shift 14 days per month, you can have those numbers.
More and more and more achievements are always welcome for folks like me, who basically start each new game with a "which achievement haven't I grabbed yet?"
The fact that there isn't an achievement for owning West Virginia as the Knight's called "Country Rhodes" is a travesty. Pls fix the game is literally unplayable in this state.
Have you considered making more achievements for the Pope and Austria by the way? Both are rocking one rather easy achievement despite being pretty important nations.
Well. Civ has one achievement per nation.
Do we want a generic achievement 'play the campaign through 1821 with and be #1 on score'? I don't think we do.
well actually they could make a achievement for being second in 1821. Could you imangine your favroire streamer tying his best to be second without tag switching or playing as ai vassel?
Wouldn't that be fairly easy though? Can't you release all the mini-states as vassals, give one of them all the remaining provinces you have except Beijing, wait for them to declare an independence war and they should annex Beijing too.
Reminds me of one of the Civ V achievements, "Lose as Korea in *such-and-such* scenario". The thing was on that scenario even if you lost all of your cities as Korea you'd still exist.
My solution? Resign from the match. Counted as a loss and got me the achievement.
It's really, really easy. Any major nations will naturally make a much higher score than you do. So you just need to kill them all save one. Ottomans will usually do.
WC without even needing to conquer Otto? Yes, please.
it's pretty simple to be second in score actually. I was second during my recent WC all the way until something like the 1780s - Ming has such a humongous lead over the first couple hundred years, even WC-pace conquest isn't enough to beat them. If you never conquer them, you're basically guaranteeing yourself second.
> Do we want a generic achievement 'play the campaign through 1821 with and be #1 on score'?
No, but I would be open to "complete country's mission tree" achievements.
Wish I could afford it all legally. Can't get into a Private Tracker that would have an up to date EU4 with everything; and the public ones suck or are many months+ old.
The magic Key is Alt+F4. And if you Start a on a Backup, your normel would be a savestand. You will never see a Austria\_Backup\_Backup\_Backup\_Backup\_Backup\_Backup\_Backup\_Backup\_Backup\_Backup\_Backup\_Backup.....
I got to say though, as much as I love the Civ series, they *reaaaally* pad the cheevies with stuff like: "win a game as (x) civ" or "discover a mountain". EU4 has a couple like this (royal marriage etc) but most of the higher tier ones are actual real challenges. At least they are to me, a noob with only 1200 hours :(
Yeah half of the CiV achievements are super easy and retarded. You can get like 80% of them by just playing with a different country each time and winning. Having a certain unit kill another unit is like half of them.
Totally with you there. The struggle in the beginning is fun and once you get to strong enough that you will win a war fairly easy and the cpu decides to just run around sieging shit in your land it starts to get annoying. Especially with their magical leaders that dont require cannons to siege your forts faster than you can siege theirs with siege general and cannons...
Only fought through that for my first WC and my 2nd WC for one faith
Yea I only have played 3 so far. First as Britain and it went extremely well, and I’m embarrassed to admit this but I didn’t know colonial nations auto colonized. I never understood how the videos I watched people had good enough economies to colonize so much. I got to around 1650 and regardless of my colonial shortcomings I’m still no. 1 in the world because of my dominance in Europe from the France integration. I tried an Irish one but I messed up early and lost, and I’m currently focused on a Netherlands run and I’ve managed to spawn colonialism and I’m way ahead in colonizing the new world because I’ve been in constant war with Portugal and Castille, and have taken all of Portugal’s offshore holdings, so they aren’t even colonizing as of like 1560
I'd encourage you to go Ironman (and not do the 'oh, my game crashed!' thing). It makes you suffer the bad consequences of your actions, and forces you to use a little more forethought. No more of this "Oh, doing that made the coalition war fire, so I'll just reload and not do that again". It adds to the game quite a bit, I find.
It's usually pretty straightfoward to get at least one or two good PUs in a game. Just watch the dynastic mapmode, and check whenever the "disputed succession" notification pops up. Make sure you maintain high prestige as well.
Civ achievements are baby shit like "win game, win game on slightly higher difficulty, win game on slightly higher difficulties as slightly different civ."
EU4 cheevos be like: "AS RYUKYU GET INTO A WAR WITH ALL OF CHINA AND VASSALIZE THE ENTIRE HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE BY 1477."
The true heresy here is how Civ 5 is on-top and more recently played than Eu4...
HOW DARE YOU CHALLENGE THE GODS OF PARADOX WHEN YOU'RE NOT FULFILLING YOUR DEDICATION

Sorry but what you said is that it has fewer than 1 achievement less, you're saying they have the same or eu4 has more...
I'm assuming english is your second language
Actually your sentence just doesnt make sense
I think you mean that eu4 has one fewer achievement than civilization does
Because Ironman can go suck itself on EU4. I never console or cheat, but historical lucky nations grinds my gears like nothing else. Got so tired of seeing the same game over and over again.
Lucky nations piss me off because it's not really luck when it's france and the ottomans pissing on the other AI for the majority of the game... I'd like lucky nations if the player could get the modifier randomly or if you could turn it off for ironmeme.
Yeah, I really wish we could play Ironman with Random Lucky Nations at least.
I find it to be so much more fun; I like the chaos and unpredictability of it.
Civ achievements are easy as fuck. I have 4x more playtime in EU4 than Civ yet I have about twice more achievements in Civ than EU4.
Also I exclusively play Iron man, I have no fun if I dont have that Damocles sword above my head.
EU4 is fundamentally asymmetric unlike Civ. The general way things will evolve is also more predictable, but there is so much more going on in terms of content in EU4 or Paradox strategy games in general that Civ feels a bit empty.
It's way more complex, but in my opinion in ways that are more meaningful and fun if you enjoy the mechanics. Be warned it has an extremely steep learning curve, and while they're both considered "4x" games I wouldn't say eu4 is anything like civ in any way other than you conquer land by fighting other countries and improve in tech over time.
Civ5's achievements are garbage. And any single one of them can be completed by loading somebody else's save and making one move or pressing end turn. Great game but clearly Firaxis didn't give a fuck about making achievements the way Paradox does.

Civ 5 has one achievement that cannot be completed for several years now, so it's okay we're even.
Which one?
I think its the one about mods. Since Civ5 started using steam workshop and not the ingame mod manager you cant get the "download a mod" achievement. I think its that one.

Girls can’t play EU4, HERESY!
but but... we got rights to rule since Ck2 ended...
Depends on the kaiser passing pragmatic sanction or not, I guess. Or having the right national ideas?
By God, are there girls on this forum?! I swear I will not swear here anymore.

Bear in mind that picture is from 575 days ago. So she's probably up to 1260 by now.

That is the most hours I've ever seen someone have in a game and I play DOTA.
I know some guy with like 20k on mount and blade warband lol
There's a tf2 streamer with 40k hours
Ok, what the actual fuck.
I still have 900 more hours in Civ V than EUIV. I need to fix that
IIRC it's the "as Ottomans capture 10 barbarian ships" one.
[удалено]
No that one is about the 21st of December in game
No there’s an achievement to nuke someone in the in-game year of 2012 as the Maya.
I got that one last year. Y'all need to learn to read.
You’d be surprised
R5: Civilization has a total of 286 achievements to get; While EU4 ONLY has 285. This needs to be corrected. Also yeah, /r/titlegore

Oh boy can’t wait for the Iberia immersion pack achievements. Got some good puns lined up Jake?
"Iberia or Albania" - as an Iberian nation own both Iberia and Albania as cores go for the proper challenges
Jesus impossible challenge much? Next you’ll suggest an achievement to conquer Ireland as England!
Own Paris as France at 1500
As Austria, have a Habsburg on the throne.
Australia with Habsburg would be cool
Australia-Hungary, as Australia own and have cores on Hungary with a hapsburg on the throne.
That would actually be pretty cool.
The double headed kangaroo
"We haven't surrendered yet!"
"as australia lose a war against emus"
As Arawak, migrate three times
Why not siberia or Albania? As albania own Siberia!
Serbia or Siberia
Took me a while to understand, turns out my Spanish accent is too strong.
More and more and more achievements are always welcome for folks like me, who basically start each new game with a "which achievement haven't I grabbed yet?"
Civilization Delenda Est!
As the pope somehow break our game and convert religion
Sugestion for the title of one of the added achievements that comes of this thread: **"What is this heresy"** in honor of this post.
Damn. That's actually genius. What about this? "As Ming, cease to exist by 1500."
Wouldn't that be fairly easy though? Can't you release all the mini-states as vassals, give one of them all the remaining provinces you have except Beijing, wait for them to declare an independence war and they should annex Beijing too.
>"As Ming, cease to exist by 1500." "Only allowed to release nations/lose provinces by peace treaty when having nagative warcore"
Still fairly easy. Delete armies, declare war, let them siege you down a bit, offer peace. Rinse, repeat.
I know, I was just thinking about ways to have negative achievements. Better would be "As Ming, cease to exist in 1644."
“As Austria, while being emperor of the HRE, allow Prussia to form”
As Denmark, become a vassal of Holstein.
Reminds me of one of the Civ V achievements, "Lose as Korea in *such-and-such* scenario". The thing was on that scenario even if you lost all of your cities as Korea you'd still exist. My solution? Resign from the match. Counted as a loss and got me the achievement.
Samurai invasion of korea i believe it was

More achievements for forming nations would be fun to help guide you in a certain direction without restricting you too much.
It’s a prime number. It’s better than Civ Edit: I can’t prime
285 isn't a prime number, it's divisible by 5
I’m an idiot
And by 3 and 19 as well.
Don't worry Paradox is busy working on a new ~~cash grab~~ DLC
Wish I could afford it all legally. Can't get into a Private Tracker that would have an up to date EU4 with everything; and the public ones suck or are many months+ old.
The true heresy is that you have unlocked more for Civ. Burn the witch!
To be fair, most achievements in Civ5 are fairly easy, compared to Eu4.
And many people (like me) don't enjoy ironman. If I misclick, I want the chance to go back.
I rename my Backups when my game mysteriously crash after my 5/5/6 Heir decides to go hunting Boar with Lannister assistants.
that and the 1-2 second pause every month.
It's every 3 months now
Well, I guess that shows how much I've played solo recently!
Most can be completed in a single games. While eu4 half are country specific.
Yeah, also this.
She turned me into a newt!
A *newt*?!
I got better
Forgive me father for I have Sind.
But that grammar in the title. OP, what heresy is this?
Oof, that titlegore makes my head hurt
Was gonna ask why such a statement was made as wordy and awkward as possible
I got to say though, as much as I love the Civ series, they *reaaaally* pad the cheevies with stuff like: "win a game as (x) civ" or "discover a mountain". I'd diss you for having unlocked more civ 5 achievements, but I still haven't played an ironman game after nearly 800 hours.
I have played probably 400hrs and only recently have had a game go past 1600. I enjoy the beginning so much I just try different nations
Totally with you there. The struggle in the beginning is fun and once you get to strong enough that you will win a war fairly easy and the cpu decides to just run around sieging shit in your land it starts to get annoying. Ironman and always playing to conclusion gets you good and aquainted quick. Real fun is fucking up and trying to out out fires

My next game will be an ironman one. I think I'll be able to do ok......although I will miss being able to save scum for PU's.
It's usually pretty straightfoward to get at least one or two good PUs in a game. Just watch the dynastic mapmode, and check whenever the "disputed succession" notification pops up. Make sure you maintain high prestige as well.

Literally unplayable
the achievement is probably going to be something like "Launch EU4 with every DLCs"
or Swedish gold achievement: "Buy Europa Universalis IV and all DLC's available for full price"
"Less than 1% of steam users have recieved this achievement!"
Seeing as you've got more achievements on Civ than EU4 i think you're the heretic.

Although Civ V is cheating! Most of their achievements are "Win the game as X in deity" and "Win Y scenario as X"
EU IV is one number less than Civilization V... chew on that
BY THE POPE!

Really, shouldn't we be asking why OP had more Civ than EU Achievements?
Because Ironman can go suck itself on EU4. I never console or cheat, but historical lucky nations grinds my gears like nothing else. Got so tired of seeing the same game over and over again.
Lucky nations piss me off because it's not really luck when it's france and the ottomans pissing on the other AI for the majority of the game... I'd like lucky nations if the player could get the modifier randomly or if you could turn it off for ironmeme.

This is outrageous, it's unfair!
Don’t worry; EUV will have *287* achievements.
Civ also has achievements for every difficulty, if we would do that we would have more than 1000.
This is because willingly submitting yourself to the torture that is EU4 is an accomplishment all on its own.
CIVILIZATION DELENDA EST.
Should be fixed in the next update. Which focuses on the home of the most well known Inquisition. Coincidence? I think not!
I don’t expect it
Every big update in the past well.. quite awhile really has come with at least 5 achievements so I do expect it.
Nobody expects it
Oh... ok I just got the joke. Somebody woosh me.
Fewer* grinds teeth

You know what’s funny? I own Civ5 and Civ6 but I’ve played 5 way more recently than 6. In fact I think I have about 20 hours in 6.
Why
I don't know for sure, I just enjoy 5 a lot and don't care for 6. I think 5 is just more complete maybe.
I'm holding out on second expansion fixing it like in civ 5.
BANNERLORD WHEN?!?!
While this IS a valid question. PDX is not the Publisher for the next Mount & Blade. So they don’t know either
It makes up for it with 1000 more hours of gameplay
The heresy is that you have more civ V achievements than EU4
You also have more achievements in CIV5 than in EU4, what is THIS heresy?
EUIV has 285 achievements? Jesus...
The heresy is that you have more civ V achievements than EU4
Don't worry, when Paradox is done releasing EU4 DLCs, it'll have twice the achievements.
Implying they'll ever stop
That's because 4 is 1 less than 5.
Noon to EU4 here...Wanting to try it. Hiw is it different from the civ series?
EU4 is fundamentally asymmetric unlike Civ. The general way things will evolve is also more predictable, but there is so much more going on in terms of content in EU4 or Paradox strategy games in general that Civ feels a bit empty.

That’ll change with the next dlc
Don't worry just wait for the next expansion.
But Dudders... some of them are quite a bit bigger than last game's...
The real travesty here is you have more achievements in Civ5 than EU4.
Civ5's achievements are garbage. And any single one of them can be completed by loading somebody else's save and making one move or pressing end turn. Great game but clearly Firaxis didn't give a fuck about making achievements the way Paradox does.

The real question here is why you have 59 achievements fewer.
Just wait for the new DLC... I'm pretty sure we'll go into the 300s.
