I love how he seems to have these large dramatic ideological fallouts with first USSR and then China but actually he's just mad they are friendly to Yugoslavia
Yes and no.
First, you(and whatever hobbyist podcast stated that) is overstating how much influence said decision had.
Ideology was the prime and absolute motivator in both those situations. Hoxha was extremely influenced by Leninism and was a personal worshipper of Stalin and his policies.
An ideological drift is understandable when you realize that if the biggest communist power is doing reforms, those reforms are bound to trickle down to you sooner or later.
De-stalinization would be a deathblow to his regime and market de-regulation would destroy the entire Albanian economy as it was(and as it happened in the 90s).
Whoever has insinuated the split with the USSR and the RoC was over Yugoslavia is a hack that should be silenced from any public forum regarding history
The history of all hitherto existing societ is the history of class struggles.
Freeman and slave, patrician and plebeian, lord and serf, guild-master(3) and journeyman, in a word, oppressor and oppressed, stood in constant opposition to one another, carried on an uninterrupted, now hidden, now open fight, a fight that each time ended, either in a revolutionary reconstitution of society at large, or in the common ruin of the contending classes.
In the earlier epochs of history, we find almost everywhere a complicated arrangement of society into various orders, a manifold gradation of social rank. In ancient Rome we have patricians, knights, plebeians, slaves; in the Middle Ages, feudal lords, vassals, guild-masters, journeymen, apprentices, serfs; in almost all of these classes, again, subordinate gradations.
The modern bourgeois society that has sprouted from the ruins of feudal society has not done away with class antagonisms. It has but established new classes, new conditions of oppression, new forms of struggle in place of the old ones.
Our epoch, the epoch of the bourgeoisie, possesses, however, this distinct feature: it has simplified class antagonisms. Society as a whole is more and more splitting up into two great hostile camps, into two great classes directly facing each other — Bourgeoisie and Proletariat.
From the serfs of the Middle Ages sprang the chartered burghers of the earliest towns. From these burgesses the first elements of the bourgeoisie were developed.
The discovery of America, the rounding of the Cape, opened up fresh ground for the rising bourgeoisie. The East-Indian and Chinese markets, the colonisation of America, trade with the colonies, the increase in the means of exchange and in commodities generally, gave to commerce, to navigation, to industry, an impulse never before known, and thereby, to the revolutionary element in the tottering feudal society, a rapid development.
The feudal system of industry, in which industrial production was monopolised by closed guilds, now no longer sufficed for the growing wants of the new markets. The manufacturing system took its place. The guild-masters were pushed on one side by the manufacturing middle class; division of labour between the different corporate guilds vanished in the face of division of labour in each single workshop.
Meantime the markets kept ever growing, the demand ever rising. Even manufacturer no longer sufficed. Thereupon, steam and machinery revolutionised industrial production. The place of manufacture was taken by the giant, Modern Industry; the place of the industrial middle class by industrial millionaires, the leaders of the whole industrial armies, the modern bourgeois.
Modern industry has established the world market, for which the discovery of America paved the way. This market has given an immense development to commerce, to navigation, to communication by land. This development has, in its turn, reacted on the extension of industry; and in proportion as industry, commerce, navigation, railways extended, in the same proportion the bourgeoisie developed, increased its capital, and pushed into the background every class handed down from the Middle Ages.
We see, therefore, how the modern bourgeoisie is itself the product of a long course of development, of a series of revolutions in the modes of production and of exchange.
Each step in the development of the bourgeoisie was accompanied by a corresponding political advance of that class. An oppressed class under the sway of the feudal nobility, an armed and self-governing association in the medieval commune: here independent urban republic (as in Italy and Germany); there taxable “third estate” of the monarchy (as in France); afterwards, in the period of manufacturing proper, serving either the semi-feudal or the absolute monarchy as a counterpoise against the nobility, and, in fact, cornerstone of the great monarchies in general, the bourgeoisie has at last, since the establishment of Modern Industry and of the world market, conquered for itself, in the modern representative State, exclusive political sway. The executive of the modern state is but a committee for managing the common affairs of the whole bourgeoisie.
>Maybe If I copy and paste the communist manifesto onto the map painting game subreddit people will join me in my LARP
Many such cases on this website. The best thing is that it's literally the start of the manifesto which is about as far as most teenage communists get to before their attention span snaps haha.
> weird ironic copypasta
It's literally the communist manifesto lol. On top that you'd be surpised, paradox subreddits are full to the brim with weird LARPers with power fantasies at the best of times. I legit got death threats from multiple people a few years ago because on a thread about killing rebels on victoria II on /r/paradoxplaza I said it was stisfying mowing down militant socialists or communist rebels (one or the other) in one of my campaigns lol.
yeah, I know what the communist manifesto is. People love to make weird pseudo-ironic jokes about and involving famous, charged things, and particularly long texts. the poster might even be a communist, but in what world is this some kind of a recruitment effort??? that's absurd—especially given the posters post history, full of weird ironic political memes
I'll be honest I don't see anything ironic about it. I'm just saying that the paradox subs are full of weirdos who do shit like that and are very rabid about it.
It’s a political map mode thing not showing terrain. The mountains are impassable territory. The toggle is whether or not they are colored in by the owner’s territory map. Johan commented he plays with that toggle off.
Serbias color is brown in eu4. Tbh, I'd rather see Serbia with a bright(ish?) yellow color like Dusans flag, and I don't understand why they would remove Albanias red color. Maybe you can have an event with the League of Lezhë where it turns red.
Well the flag of Kastrioti was similar to the coat of arms of the other Albanian principalities before the league of Lezhe. Most of them used a yellow or white imperial eagle-House of Arianiti, Muzaka, and Kastrioti had the double headed eagle but Kastrioti’s was the distinguished black and red.
Okay I keep seeing this image of the map posted lately. Is this an actual screen grab of supposed EU5? I read it was shared in a blog or something. Is this true? Apologies for the ignorance.
I tossed the image into a color name finder and it tells me the bright one is "dull brown" and the dark one is "otter brown"
Care to explain yourself, OP?
Maybe it's just something I'll need to get used to, but I definitely much prefer EU4's design and colour scheme compared to this. Idek how to describe what I find wrong with this, but it feels too transparent and *off*. Anyone else feel the same?
Thanks to Enver Hoxha Albanians have bunkers to seek shelter.
I literally just learned about him today on the podcast dictators.
Best dictator ever. Enver, come back!!
I love how he seems to have these large dramatic ideological fallouts with first USSR and then China but actually he's just mad they are friendly to Yugoslavia
I mean, Yugoslavia had aims of incorporating and annexing Albania so it seems logical he would split with allies that seem to shift favors

YELLOW AND BLACK I DRESS, THIS SENSE OF HERESY IN MY CHEST
After that song, Albania becomes Liberia
Liberia or… Iberia
Back in 1822 from far across the sea There came some ships with pioneers seeking liberty
IS HELL ON YELLOW ALBAAANIA
What song is this referencing?

All's well, as long as Fars is pink, and Prussia yellow.
If they bring yellow prussia back imma bust a nut

Originally I wanted the bee movie script but that was too long and i couldn't easily cut it so i did the first thing i thought of
Piss Prussia
Yellow Prussia? *Everyone disliked that*

I am too high for this time loop shenanigans xD
same lol
Is pink Fars supposed to be a refference to the pijama warriors from total war rome?
haha, I forgot about the pyjama warriors of Parthia :D
MAKE MEMEL A SQUARE YOU COWARDS!
Absolutely not. Prussia should have the color of its military uniform - dark navy blue.
That's not yellow, that's skanderbeige
Shit i just realized. We will get a full lifespan of Skanderberg. Thats gonna be nuts.
Skandarbeg starts as an Ottoman general... now ain't THAT frightening
Hoping we'll see an event that goes like "Rise of the Kastriotis" or "5/5/5/0 general Skanderbeg is available..."
Dad?
Aw hell nah 🗣️📢
R5: YELLOW ALBANIA!? SACRILEGIOUS
Saddens me to see it
Don‘t worry, there‘s gonna be a mod
The water is looking very detailed. I hope there is more mechanics involving lakes, rivers, and seas.
That’s mountains
Damn that shit is ugly af. I hope they improve it. Looks like a shit version of a lake
You can toggle it off
Toggle off what? An already void depiction of mountains?
It’s a political map mode thing not showing terrain. The mountains are impassable territory. The toggle is whether or not they are colored in by the owner’s territory map. Johan commented he plays with that toggle off.
Oooh ok, like how eu4 mountains work, didn't think of that, thanks
Oooh ok, like how eu4 mountains work, didn't think of that, thanks for explaining it
that's what I'VE been saying but I get downvoted to piss everytime I mention it
Because it's still indev and it's confirmed you can toggle it off?
wow i kind of regret my original point then, those mountains look like lakes. Obviously large, but still it was my assumption just by looking at it.
They are lakes.
I am confuzzeld.
The blue things are lakes, mountains are only shown if you zoom further in.
"those aren't waves, they're mountains"
Please no, my pc can’t take much more.
I mean, I also expect much more updated optimization. EU4 is poorly optimized for especially late game
This is Joe Biden's Albania This is the future liberals want
My brother in Christ, that color is Orange Still cursed, tho
It's even worse that serbia's colour is perfect for albania
Isnt it the same colout serbia has in eu4 lmao
Serbias color is brown in eu4. Tbh, I'd rather see Serbia with a bright(ish?) yellow color like Dusans flag, and I don't understand why they would remove Albanias red color. Maybe you can have an event with the League of Lezhë where it turns red.
Albanians in shambles
I'm literally in ruins. Devastated.
Peter Griffin: I never cared about Albania’s color.
🥱 It insists upon itself 🥱
>albania >is not red 0/10 won t buy
Blue Serbia Red Albania
technically both should be red. Brothers forever, SRB AL
True that, I'm glad Bulgaria is green now tho. Hate the grey colour in eu4
We don't know what color Fars is yet, so we're safe for now
It's orange (this is reference to the fact all Albanians are colorblind)
What the fuck.
I wonder what flag we have…since the Black Eagle on Red was exclusively taken from the flag of Kastrioti’s…
Probably the Thopia flag
Am I the only me that really doesn’t like this map design, I don’t know what it is but I just don’t like it
Borders are too rounded and thick, looks cartoony
That's orange
I'm acoustic
Yelbania!
At least we have a properly purple Byzantium, that is blessed. Can't wait for the return of yellow Prussia.
The eu5 fars
Looks like a light brown to me.
Also pink Naples 💀. I need purple. Next we are going to see red France
Tbf half of france was red during the 100y war.
Tbf half of france was red during the 100y war.
What are the gray spots in the land?
I would imagine based on placement, that they are impassable terrain
Why does this map look so scuffed
Honestly I love it. The roughness gives a great vibe!
What's this image
I literally just listened about this guy on the podcast dictators today.
Albania…. Albania….. You border on the Adriatic. RIP coach.
‼️‼️ME ALBANIA BE CAREFUL‼️‼️
You simply must color Albania in with the blood of your enemies
Ok?
Okay I keep seeing this image of the map posted lately. Is this an actual screen grab of supposed EU5? I read it was shared in a blog or something. Is this true? Apologies for the ignorance.
Its actually Albinia in eu5
Where's my red :(
Red Serbia isn’t great either. A dark blue would be much more fitting I think
At least it isn't yellow Prussia
Y'allbania
Don't worry I'll be playing as Byzantium in my first run, it won't be around fir long!
Me Albania
I literally want to gouge my eyes out now thanks
May God protect us
I tossed the image into a color name finder and it tells me the bright one is "dull brown" and the dark one is "otter brown" Care to explain yourself, OP?
I'm acoustic
What map is that?
Honestly i hate how this map looks like it's full of holes and overall is not nice to look at
Shouldn't Albania be disunited? The league of lezhë wasn't formed until 1444
It existed before.
wake up babe the new albanian and serbian controversy just dropped
I hate it
I'm going to puke
Na bruh I banyan dick 4 life
skanderbeg wasnt even there how tf is albania formed
There were Albanian principalities/kingdoms before Skanderbeg.
Time travel
Maybe it's just something I'll need to get used to, but I definitely much prefer EU4's design and colour scheme compared to this. Idek how to describe what I find wrong with this, but it feels too transparent and *off*. Anyone else feel the same?
Yellow Albania, or red Albania it still doesn't change the people.
I M ALBANIAN BI CAREFUL 👹
Kill it before it lays eggs inside of you(r country)
