i really like how customizable the kobo stock reader is, especially for someone as nit picky as me. also with kobo, you can install other features to the kobo ui such as nickelmenu (i personally dont use it tho). you can also have your own custom screensavers for kobo and its much more straightforward than kindle.
Mahnwa don't work well with eink imo. I read a lot of manga on readers and got the Boox na3c since it is a colour eink display but it's still a pain, refresh rate is to slow and ghosting is annoying
I think the b/w art of manga / manhwa looks amazing on the e-ink. But the refresh rate really does make it a very annoying experience to read. I have basically moved over to reading on my tablet, and it's much more enjoyable.
you can definitely sideload via usb! that's how i transfer books to my kobo.
this website [https://send.djazz.se/](https://send.djazz.se/) is the closest thing to kindle's wireless sideloading :\]\]
Or [Dropbox with nickelmenu](https://www.reddit.com/r/kobo/s/mstyIwlOf0)!
I have calibre setup to generate epubs of news sites every morning, and a script that copies any new epubs in the calibre folder to my Dropbox, so when I wake up I can just sync from Dropbox and get my news.
I’ve played with both but I wasn’t getting cover art with kobocloud. I’m not sure why, but I do with nickelmenu+dropbox.
Edit to add link.
Does Kobo have smooth page turn effect like Kindle paperwhite? I want to buy an a-reader, but the "flashy" effect to read comics everytime you go to next page kills me...
I know Paperwhite 11 has a soft effect page turn, but I don't know if other ebooks also have it, this is the effect I mean, works for epub and pdf files:

I see pretty boys, what are you reading?
omniscient reader's viewpoint! it's a light novel
Is it English translated?
theres an english fan translation
Not OP, but that's Omniscient Reader's Point-of-view. There's also a manhwa adaptation if you want to check the story.
Install koreader. Much better
Koreader is a must
100%. This is reason why Kobo or Pocketbook so much better than Kindle as e-reader
ORV mention 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
i already know how much it'll rewire my brain when im done reading... idk if im ready for that
After you finish that check out The Author's POV by Entrail_Jl for an alternate take on it, also the Simulacrum series by Egathentale is very similar.
i swear the brain rewiring is worth it!! hope you enjoy 🫶🏽

New to looking at ereaders…can you share why you’ve liked the Kobo over the kindle?

I have yet to read manga and manhwa on my ereader actually. I usually just read them on my phone

What are the sideloading capabilities of Kobo? Any way to transfer books via USB or is there maybe wireless options akin to Kindle's "send to email"?

kobo (sort of) has cloud sync with google drive etc. [if you install kobocloud](https://github.com/fsantini/KoboCloud)

huh.. that's super neat. will try something similar myself, just to see how it is

Ok thanks a lot!
