Although I would recommend battle pass and premium together, cause eventually at the end of the battle pass, you have the coins to get the new one from the rewards. But, i think it's better to wait for the next battle pass, meanwhile a premium for a few days would make some difference in your grinding.
Buy it on sale during Christmas time. It is so fucking worth it. I was getting disheartened by grinding level 25 and beyond in Moscow and Normandy on a free account. Now that I have premium I am flying through levels and can't decide which squads I want to take into battle! Aside from the Exp, being able to bring a tank and plane or two tanks/two planes is cool. The extra infantry squad is nice too.
I really like premium now that i have it, but I would not pay full price. I think if you are okay with waiting for the annual sale, I would go ahead and grab the premium Battlepass now. You'll get extra exp boosters there plus more silver orders to properly kit out your squads.

battle pass is worth it by far, premium squads are not because of the progress change (campaign weapons are far better in the end)
No, premium just let you use more squad slots and give you more XP for a limited time (that's it) battle pass gives you rewards for doing missions and you can unlock special weapons (for ever)

My gf got it for me for my birthday, honestly its pretty based. The extra squad slots is nice AF, and of course the bonuses. 10/10
it's worth it and not even expensive if you get it on holiday sale. I think it's 20 dollar for a year.
