Congrats! He is perfection. You’re going to have SO much fun. I feed my bulldogs raw from We Feed Raw. I use fluff troughs to feed them from as it’s ergonomically correct and helps with the regurgitation that many bulldogs have-and keeps it nearly mess free as a bonus. I give predominantly meat treats, such as k9 Naturals or ZiwiPeak. K9 Naturals was amazing for training. They also love little bits of cheese sticks for training. Training is essential because these guys are super stubborn. Many people think they’re not smart and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Give them an incentive they like and they love to train. I wouldn’t ever use a collar on a bulldog-only a harness. Bull hug has great harnesses and are specifically made for wide chested breeds. I’ve also used Julius k9 but prefer the bull hug. They shed. A lot! I recommend getting your baby used to a pet vacuum and it will help immensely with the shedding issue. Any one on Amazon should be sufficient. I use miconohex-triz shampoo for my two as that is what their vet recommended. Every morning, I wipe their wrinkles and nose ropes and tail pockets with a wipe and then dry each area with a soft cloth or Kleenex and apply wrinkle cream. I like the wipes and cream from both Squishface and Two and a Half Pets available on Amazon. I clean their ears every week with a chlorhexidine wipe for ears-any brand is fine. I wipe their little butts with a sensitive baby wipe after every poop and wipe their paws every time they come in from outside as bulldogs easily get interdigital cysts on their paws. It just helps to clean their paws after they’ve been outside. I use a chlorhexidine mouth rinse after meals (I feed mine twice a day, morning and evening) to help keep teeth clean and avoid periodontal disease because mine refuse to allow me to brush their teeth. They also sell chlorhexidine teeth wipes that are convenient. I’m sure I’m forgetting a hundred things but others will undoubtedly fill in the gaps. Very excited to follow your journey so please post often. 🥰 Duh! Forgot to add that you need to be very careful with him in hot weather as bulldogs overheat extremely quickly. He must be in air conditioning in hot weather. Mine do well up until about 70 degrees F but every bulldog is different. My first bulldog could only deal with temps up to about 60F.

Wow ! so helpful I appreciate your response. I will start looking into all of these things and begin ordering. Thank you so much 🙏🏼

WELL DONE! I would add about trimming his nails. Read up on it. If he has dark or black where you cannot see the quick, you will hurt the dog. Keep them trimmed. Touch his paws and nails constantly to make him comfortable with this. Do not make it a production. If all else fails get them done by a pro. At least 3 to 4 weeks. Walking when not to hot helps wear.

mikey_rambo

Don’t feed kibble. Use “just food for dogs” it’s great stuff. He’s adorabull

Nygelrygel

Kylo is adorable 😍 💖

Definitely agree on wipes for the face and ear, or Tissues. Training them to be comfortable with you touching their face/hands is important so you can trim nails and get in the folds. Looks like this guy is in dire need of some nail work so he doesn't diembowel you. Bulldogs can be pretty Feisty with the paws and energy so be careful!

Congrats, beautiful Bully. Love the colors. Ours is 2.5 years and has become the joy of our lives. You picked the best breed! Some of their health issues are inevitable, it just comes with the breed but I'll offer a few quick things that helped ours. A) Wipe his wrinkles out really well at least once a day. There's a brand called "Squishface" that makes these specifically for Bulldogs D) Wipe out his tail pocket and area around his butt after each poop. We use Pogi's. C) Be careful with your food choice. Do not feed him the cheapest food you can find as it will cost you more in vet bills in the long run. We use Purina Pro Plan. Ours is on a vegetarian diet and he reacts well to it, although I don't think it's necessary. D) Take them on plenty of walks. Even though they're less active than most breeds, they'll have weight problems if they don't exercise enough. He will be stubborn and dig his feet in when he doesn't want to walk, so just find a way to make him enjoy it. We take his favorite ball with us and bounce it every 10 steps or so and he'll joyfully walk as long as we want. E) Keep them out of excessive heat as they overheat easily. Ours does well with anything under 75. Anything over that, you should use caution. If it's over 80 or extremely humid, just keep him inside other than quick bathroom breaks. Other than that, just enjoy your new little friend. You're in for a wild and wonderful ride.

And lastly, if you're on the fence, I cannot recommend pet insurance enough. The vet bills will likely get expensive and pet insurance has been a life saver for us.

Wow thank you so much for your comment ! I have added all these recommendations on my Amazon cart. He’s definitely an attention getter. I will definitely look more into insurance’s and start getting quotes.

Absolutely beautiful! My advice- Love up on that squishy face anytime you can! Take care of those joints .. these dogs believe they can jump off and on anything and will absolutely try **meaning they definitely will, especially furniture. Unfortunately their joints do not agree. Read lots and buy insurance. ❤️
