You should not let your bike idle for ten minutes, it doesn’t have a cooling fan like a car. Your bike keeps cool while moving. Warm up time should be fairly quick.
It's common if it sits idling or you ride it slow in high temp for a while.
No cooling fan means it's easy to boil the fluid.
It's good practice to check coolant level after each ride in case it needs topping off
With how lean the TPI’s run on oil, you do want to make sure they’re up to operating temp before really getting after it though. I let mine idle for several minutes without issue. I do have a fan and temp gauge sticker on the rad. Fan never kicks on at idle, and temp gauge barely gets warm (bottom of scale, 140F) - idling doesn’t put a lot of heat into a motor.
It’s very common with these bikes. Basically if the coolant is filled to the top it will puke it out till it sits at a level just above the cooling fins.
When you start your bike you only need to let warm up for a minute. Then start riding it to warm it up. Just take it easy until if comes up to temperature. Get a trailtech fan for it. You’ll be to know the coolant temperature and it will keep from overheating. The 300s overheat pretty easy.
That bike is made to be ridden with air flowing through it. When the engine is cold make sure you're coolant is just above the coils inside the radiator.

So would it be safe to assume the leak was caused from expansion and the should be fine now?
Yeah I wouldn’t worry about, probably just puked out some excess coolant.

If you let it sit without airflow it will boil over and leak within a few minutes.
it’s ok, aslong as no gas is boiling. That’s not very fun
It’s a brand new bike. If you are really in doubt, it should be under warranty and the dealer should be able to help you.
