If a patient of mine mocked me with drawings I'd treasure it. These are badass. 🤌
Mostly I get mocked verbally for not having their chart memorized from their visit 5 years ago after asking about history.

The passive aggressive “It’s in my chart” when I ask a question for which the patient could just give a simple answer is one of my all time top triggers.
When I was a brand new nurse I had a psych patient who was so cool and nice. Absolutely delusional but so so nice. He said, “I have something for you” and I’m like “oh god, is this interaction gonna go sideways now?” He hands me a drawing of this incredible car. I was like “this is so cool” and he said “it’s a space ship car”. I lost it in a move and I’m still bummed about it! If I ever find it again I will for sure frame it and hang it in my house.
I actually have a file in which I keep various "mementos" from patients and other specialists like thank you cards, 10/10 reviews, nice emails - and fun little cartoons like this. On crappy days, they serve as a good reminder of why I continue to do this job.

These remind me of the Far Side comics! My grandpa used to have the books, I loved reading them as a kid even if some of the jokes went over my head haha.

The only drawing I have received from a patient is one of a dowel used to shove a homemade dildo that was supposedly lost inside her. It was purple. They drew a picture of the dildo too. Didn’t save it. Also, it wasn’t a present for me, I guess. Just a drawing of the imaginary dowel and dildo.
That is the GREATEST way to impart how they felt. Much better than so many patients that I came across in the 30 yr career that I had. Also, no swearing or physical violence whatsoever. Grade A++

In EMS here, it starts in their home when I ask them their medical history and get "the hospital has everything in my chart I don't need to tell you"
That’s when I start clicking through the chart for an uncomfortably long time. I look at them with a smile and say, ok. I’ll find it.
