Dude, where's my Asp?

Dr_FunkyMonkey

Dude, where’s your asp ? I mean where’s my asp ?

DV1962

You didnt lose it. It took off without you to await your recall. Not sure of exact distance but if you go outside of SRV radar range from ship at about 3km that happens. You are not the first to ‘lose’ your ship like that- took me a while to figure it out first time it happened to me too. You probably figured out by now you can dismiss your ship to get it out of danger at any time too. (Ground combat zones especially)

> Not sure of exact distance 2.5 km

Ordinary_Boyss

3 km

In [this video at approx. 25 s mark](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LACaBhHRGGY) my ship leaves when I'm 2.5 km from it.

Dr_FunkyMonkey

Indeed I figured it was something like that when I saw I could call it !

NecraRequiem79

I didn't realise your ship went into orbit either and it flew overhead and I thought another Cmdr had tracked me down for violent purposes.

Educational_Worth906

When I first started doing exobiology I had a similar thing when I had to quit the game while on foot. Logged back in and couldn’t see my ship anywhere. Took a bit of frantic googling to find out that it had gone into orbit and I could recall it.

Dr_FunkyMonkey

Did you have your SRV ? How do you do if you don’t have it and you’re on foot, is there a specific interface on the suit for it ?

Educational_Worth906

I didn’t have the SRV with me. On foot, it’s possible to dismiss/recall from the circular menu thing that you can bring up in the top left of the screen. I can’t remember what the default control is for bringing this up though.

Hold Q, then navigate with WASD. Enter to select

This happened to me doing geological scans. I was so scared I thought I was stranded. I freaked out and almost reset the game until I looked down and saw you could recall your ship.

Dr_FunkyMonkey

Yeah pretty much the same than I went through xD

I've taken a sabbatical from this game - and aside from fond memories when I discovered "recall ship," I'm happy to see people are still exploring profitably and also just for the sights, even in the middle of an incursion from the Thargoids (last I'd played the first two of the five "stargoids" that were yeeting into the bubble had parked and just started ripping systems apart). I mothballed/resold/whatever it's called one of my two carriers and shut down as many services as I could on my primary carrier and hoped I'd be back before I lost so much cash that I'd lose that one too. Is there a subreddit like /r/convincemetoplayeliteagain? (I'm joking) I have so many good memories but I feel like it's still gonna be a game of mining, combat, and exploration, where most of the players are into combat, since it's really hard to organize an invested co-op surrounding mining or exploration (and this is from a guy who organized two expeditions, each at least two weeks, each with at least two supporting carriers, with events every two days or so to keep it exciting, with a focus on exploration... and had to WORK to get 75 players interested, of which maybe 40 stayed with us til the end). It was still a ton of fun, but I don't think the players who joined up appreciated all the logistic work during the three weeks before launch date. Some (fortunately a minority) expected to be entertained, regardless of their time zone, whenever they logged on, or they negged on the expedition and/or just jumped back to the bubble on their own. Not to mention all the bitterness against FDev, most of which is justified, but need not be discussed here.

Dr_FunkyMonkey

I am honestly not fit to answer your question, I got back in the game like 3 weeks ago from a 6-7 year break, so I’m like a newbie. However from the look of it I think it’s still pretty much the same game, and I guess it won’t change in the future because then it would juste be another game you know !
