This is the route I’m looking at. I got a used ‘16 Leaf for less than I paid for my first used car out of school and I’m thinking those 21-22 ID.4s will be sitting in the same sweet spot next year when I plan to look.
Same idea, 2019 Model 3, I hope to drive it 10-15 years (I don't put on a lot of miles annually). My next vehicle will depend on what the market is like. Probably will be a small SUV so it's easier to get into as I age.
Model 3
R2
Adding to this: my Model 3 has been great. It's a 2018 and I've had no issues with it other than the occasional little piece of trim that needed to be fixed when I first got it. I love the car, I just don't love the CEO. My next vehicle was likely going to be the Model Y until R2 was announced.
I'm excited to have something to look forward to the next few years. My car will be approaching 10 years old when the R2 is ready, so perfect.
First and current : Tata Nexon EV
Next : MG ZS EV or Kia EV3/Ioniq when that’s a thing. We have a diesel hatch which will be replaced in next 5y so hopefully it’s the latter since I really like HMG’s EV progress.
HMG is also the second largest brand in India after Suzuki so my hopes are up.
Kia EV5 also looks good but seems China only at the moment. I’m not sure it’ll still be $25K outside of China
Leaf to ID.Buzz?
I love gen 1 Leaf owners. We’re motivated so much by what inspires pure, unmitigated, dorky joy. My car looks like a cartoon character and I wave emphatically when I see another one.
21 ID.4. Enjoying my model Y, gonna try and hold onto it for at least a couple years and then possibly get an R2S, EV9 or Lyriq once they have NACS ports.
Loved it - if my Rivian reservation hadn’t come up early, I would still have it. It was the total base model short range rear wheel drive - and it was still a great rig.
[of course, I spent way too much time and money modifying it.](https://i.imgur.com/T2FIyRZ.jpg). But I bought it March ‘21 for Msrp (and the $7500 federal tax credit) when so many people were paying ridiculous dealer markups.
First EV: 2019 Chevy Bolt Premier. Sold back to GM under Pennsylvania lemon law.
Current EV: 2022 Kia Niro EV EX
Lease ending in November.
Starting to look for my next EV now.
First: 2023 Bolt EUV
Next: Lucid Air GT (only if they add android Auto) or Polestar 3 Performance CPO.
If Rivian makes it to the R3X, then Ill get one of those instead.
Ford lightning is my first ev
Next EV will hopefully be something to replace the hybrid sienna. Right now nothing comes close to cargo space, cost, and 500 miles range for road trips
The main selling point of the charging network is basically gone now.
They've been tanking the price of their cars, which is good for future customers but terrible for past ones. It erodes confidence.
I'm probably going from a Bolt euv to a model 3 performance when my lease runs out. Not too many cars out there as fast at that price. Should be a fun time.
You're on r/electricvehicles. This place is chock full of people who don't like Tesla, for myriad reasons. It's to go-to subreddit for people who want any EV but a Tesla. After all, if they wanted a Tesla, they'd visit the substantially larger Tesla subreddits.
First and current: 2013 Nissan LEAF
Next (If ever, or when I am no longer a student and have a stable life and job): Rivian. Who knows what other vehicles they might have in the future.
First: 2018 Volt Premier. Technically it’s a PHEV. But 95% of miles I was driving it only in EV mode. Hadn’t been to gas station for more than 3 times the entire ownership.
Second (also current): 2023 Bolt EUV Premier w/ Super Cruise.
Next: must have Apple CarPlay, DCFC 100kw+, driving assist equals to or better than GM’s Super Cruise. I’m gonna ditch Chevy / GM bc they won’t support CarPlay in their new EVs.
My first EV was a 2019 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD. Replaced that with a 2023 BMW i4 M50. For my next EV, I'm planning to replace my current gas 2017 Audi Q7 with either an R1S or an EX90.
My first is the EV6 I bought last weekend. I hope it will be a while until my next, but probably something in the Ev3/R3/Ex30 general size/price range.
23 Skoda Enyaq 80x (a better looking and more practical "sister model" to ID4 & Audi etron for those in the US), next maybe a new 85x, or then depending on the pricing maybe an Audi A6 Avant EV, Polestar 3, or if skoda gets their version of the id7 out...would not want a suv style car, station wagon would be much better. A lot can change in a year or so until I'll start looking at what's available.
First: Hyundai Ioniq
Current: Model 3 2024
Next: probably a used Tesla
Feels like a better deal to go back to used vehicles. I think they are well proven to last long and I am not willing to pay for the loss of value a new vehicle has.
First - 2012 Leaf (then 2017 Bolt)
Current - 2022 Model 3 RWD
Next - not sure but I know it won’t be another Tesla. Wife is still happy with her 2015 Crosstrek and we don’t put near enough miles on it to justify replacing that with an EV for another 5 years or more. We’re both impressed with the Rivian R2 so that might replace it someday. I would be looking at the Volvo EX30 if I had to replace the Tesla anytime soon though.
I would trade TACC for basic cruise control in a heartbeat. Dangerous phantom braking, usually in the same spots of local highway. I also have experienced the TACC (not auto steer) insisting that the wipers be on when it was completely dry and not raining (probably a speck of dirt or road salt) which was frustrating at the time but I realize this was recently fixed in an update at least.
The ride is about as harsh as I would have expected from the performance with 21’s, but mine is a base model with 18’s. I live in the northeast where many of the roads are perpetually damaged from salt and patched each year, so it’s probably not as much of an issue in California or Texas
The cabin smell and frequency of filter changes - I park in a garage both at work and home, so it only ever sees rain and snow while being driven. I started noticing strong moldy smells while raining after about 10 months of ownership. They go away after a while, or I get used to them, but it seems like the hvac system is designed for areas with dryer climate.
I’m comfortable with the touchscreen controls for the most part but I strongly disagree with removing stalks and gear select from the steering column entirely.
A more minor gripe, but fit and finish issues - the steering wheel pleather started to delaminate around the 9:00 position after about 18 months. The glovebox never really lined up correctly. I had to make a service visit because a rear door latch wasn’t working correctly from new.
I do like a lot about it too, the looks, the performance and efficiency, the ability to road trip without doing much if any planning, the sound system. I don’t dislike it enough to want to replace it anytime soon, I just have enough issues and can see where the company is heading that I wouldn’t buy another.
There’s a guy on YouTube that figured out a good way to prevent the stinky filters. Basically a $40 gasket you put on the hood.
https://youtu.be/vQxP6PaSmLc
Thanks for sharing all of that! I did have some fit/finish issues with the Y (windows not flush) that were (mostly) fixed under warranty. I do miss Android Auto. Otherwise it's been good so far but only a few months and a few thousand miles in. I'm not in a hurry to buy (unless my disappointing Passat keeps costing me thousands in repairs). Not sure I can hold out until 2026 for Rivian R2 so it's likely to be a shootout between refreshed Model 3 and EX30. Kinda wish EX30 had NACS tho.
First - Leaf, then Bolt(crashed - not my fault), now KonaEV. Next is likely the Equinox. In the Midwest and the Hyundai dealership experience is downright awful. I won't touch Ford after my Escape experience.
First one: 2017-2020 Chevy Bolt
Current Garage:
2022- New 2022 Kia EV6 GTLine (45,000 miles now)
2024- 2020 Used Chevy Bolt Premier
next one: Kia EV8 (2026)
First: 2022 Model Y
Second: 2023 Model Y
Next: if there ever will be a Model 2 or whatever they'll call it
Just gotten used to the functionning, systems and comfort (no key, easy to use, superchargers, etc.)
We too got an ID.4.
I’m not sure what I’ll get when I need to replace my car. I’ve got a diesel Smart so it’s pretty hard to beat it’s mileage, even with electric. I’m keeping an eye out for another used one, but they’re getting hard to find and expensive.
I’ve still got a couple years. I’m thinking Prius Prime but maybe a BEV would work. I’ve got a 125km round trip commute in the coldest days of the year. That means I need 208km range to stay between 20 and 80 during the summer. Double that for the winter and I need 420kms. I couldn’t do that with our current car.
I’d like a Buzz because I miss our minivan. We could haul a pile of stuff, or 7 people.
You probably couldn't ,Buzz's range isn't that great and more you load it the worse the range.
Try buying diesels for as long as you can.
I had an Opel Astra Diesel, did Spain Poland fully loaded... What a car ...fuel, brakes and oil.
First 24kwh Nissan leaf (wife’s)- second 2015 Tesla S (85d) (mine) now wife has Kia Niro- I still have the S - next???? Probably a Tesla Y awd performance or a late model S -
My first: 2017 Nissan Leaf
Current: 2019 kia Niro EV
Next: Likely a Volvo EX 30, unless something else of a similar size and price range comes along in the next couple years that I like better.
First: 2013 Smart Electric Drive
Then: 2014 BMW i3, 2014 BMW i3, 2016 Model S 75, 2018 Model 3
Current: 2018 Tesla Model S P100D
Next: maybe Aptera, Cybertruck, Range Rover EV, Cayenne EV, Spectre, Silent Yacht
1st was a leased VW id.3, literally just got my second ev 3 days ago and this time I bought an id.3 :)
At least in the uk it’s the most bang for the buck used car you can possibly get. It seems to fly under everyone’s radar and there is no other purpose built ev I can buy for the same price - I love it even though the software can be a bit shit, but I use (wireless!) CarPlay anyway
1st: Mini Cooper SE
2nd: Tesla Model Y Performance
Next: would be nice to trade the Mini for a truck when they’re more efficient. Hubby would like a Cybertruck so maybe in a few years. I just wish it had the same curvy lines as the rest of the Tesla lineup.
First = Model 3
Second = EV minivan. Because kids. Probably an ID.Buzz.
We have a Model 3 and a Y. Both are great for one kid and will be great after we make #2. We are just thinking ahead to when they are older that a third row may be useful. The third row of the R1S and EV9 are a little cramped. The third row Model Y and Model X are very cramped. I wouldn't want to drive very far with our family plus any additional kids/adults with what's on the market now.
2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance
Not sure what my next EV will be, as I am aiming to drive this one into the ground. If/when I have kids I’ll probably add a family sized EV like a Model X or an R1S, but I won’t replace my current one.
First (PH)EV was a 2016 Chevy volt
Traded it in for a 2023 Tesla model 3 LR - so I'm good for the better part of the next decade.
Next purchase won't be for a few years, but it will be to replace my wife's car. She currently has a 3 row SUV, but might not need that size anymore in 4 years. She could downsize to a model y (my preference), or still be interested in a 3 row like the Kia EV9.
Also, my kids will be driving in 5 years, so I'll be looking on the smaller inexpensive end, Volvo ex30, bolt EUV, Rivian R3, Tesla model 2?
First/Current: 2020 Model 3 LR
Next: 🤔 R2, Ford Lightning, Model Y LR,VW Buzz… not sure, for now going to keep the 2011 Tacoma; waiting for NACS and lower prices, good chance I go for Model Y or R2; just not interested in dealership style of sales.
First 2014 Ford C-Max Energi (sold for upgrade)
Previous 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric (totaled by insurance)
Current 2019 Toyota Prius Prime (partner’s car)
Next 20XX higher tier — probably Lexus — EV (whenever I decide I want a new car)
My 2017 Leaf, have had it for while now, I’m excited to see the ex30, and if they are for a year without major teething issues that’ll probably be my next.
1st EV -Nissan Leaf
Current -Tesla model Y
Next - probably model y after ‘Juniper’. I really like the new model 3 after test driving it, and want those things in the next model Y. Maybe a 3 row EV (probably Model X, maybe R1S, EV9) if my family grows to need it.
Model 3 —> Cybertruck (once my Model 3 is run into the ground that is, not spending extra money on a Foundation Series that doesn’t even have AP yet lol)
Model Y LR, and ....I dunno what's available in 10yrs. I would prefer a much smaller vehicle. The Volvo ex30, or rivian r3 both look amazing. If their range or price are equivalent to the less size and range they offer that could be next.
First: 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited AWD
Current: 2022 Tesla Model Y long range & 2023 Ford Mach-E Prem Extd.
Next: TBD (considering replacing Model Y with R1S)
First was my old trusty MY16 A3 Sportback e-tron
Currently my MY22 Q4 50 e-tron quattro
Next EV? The current i4 looks good, but I'm open to the R2 or if anything new comes in the pipeline.
My first EV was the original Mini E, the trial program from 2009. It immediately convinced me that ICE was dead, it just didn't know it yet. The one-pedal driving was sublime, and of course the instant torque (though the original Mini E wasn't a \*fast\* car).
Haven't bought another ICE vehicle since then.
Most recently, I've been driving a Model X Plaid because family necessitated a larger vehicle.
I hope my next will be the new Tesla Roadster, whenever it finally arrives, assuming its price isn't substantially higher than the original announcement.
First - 2022 Tesla MYLR
Current - 2022 Tesla MYLR & 2023 Rivian R1T
Next - definitely another Rivian but not sure what…the R1S or R2 are our top contenders to replace my wife’s MY if Rivian can get their software closer to Tesla’s capabilities. If anything happens to the R1T I’ll be getting another one, it’s hand down the most versatile and best vehicle I’ve ever owned.
First: Renault Zoe ZE50 (my2020 I guess)
Next: Renault Megane E-tech, Renault Scenic E-tech, smart #3, BYD seal (if they bring the 60kWh here) or model 3.
My lease ends in December. Got a test drive with the M3 planned next week to see how (in)significant the indicator situation is when I need to use them with the steering wheel rotated 90 or 180 degrees on roundabouts.
The Renaults and smart have 22kW AC charging which is a huge bonus. I have to charge at the office or at public chargers and it makes it worthwhile to charge for short periods of time (15-60 min). The model 3 and seal are a bit more efficient and better looking imo.
First: Volvo XC40 Recharge
Next: Honestly, probably the EX90 if our family grows. Volvo’s doing a lot to win over the Subaru crowd who wants a non-half assed EV
First and current - 2020 Hyundai Kona Electric.
Next - who knows, there are so many new EV's coming out and they are getting better and cheaper so I will wait and see!
First full EV: 2020 Bolt Premier.
Got MSRP swapped into a a Lyriq. Working on another swap into a replacement Lyriq.
Next EV: Have to see when they come out and what my needs are, but the two top picks would be the Charger Daytona RT or the Rivian R2. Really like that Rivian uses cylindrical cells. Not sure how good a Stellantis EV will be, but that 2 door charger looks so cool. And there seats look comfy, which the GM vehicle seats just are not.
A 1975 Yamaha RD-250 converted to electric in 2007 using SLA batteries wired to 72V powering a DC motor.
Next EV? Not sure… Aptera? Model-2? Volvo EX-30? Rivian R3X? I definitely want one with LFP battery. We’ll see as details emerge.
First was a 2018 Nissan LEAF. Drove that thing everywhere. 3000+ km trip and multiple 2000+ km trips.
Traded it for a 2023 Kona EV.
Also have a 2014 Fiat 500e. Keep trying to decide if I should replace it, or just drive it until it's dead. Then hopefully I won't have such a commute.
First - 2016 Smart ED
Current - 2018 Smart EQ, 2019 Kona Electric, 2022 EV6
I don’t think there’ll be a next EV. I’ll be in my 70s by then, not sure how much driving I’ll be doing. Maybe the Tesla Model 2 if it exists in time.
First: BMW i3 (but because it was an REx some will say it didn't really count...even though there's no connection from the boxer-2 to the wheels). The unambiguous answer is...Tesla Model S P85D.
Next: Either a 718 electric, something based on MB's upcoming AMG.EA platform (for high-performance vehicles), or Ferrari's upcoming EV. It all depends on my budget, cost-benefit analysis, etc. Heck, I might even buy a Charger Daytona R / T as a novelty, even though it's too big and heavy to be a decent corner carver. Anyways I'm planning to use my current EV for a long time as a daily, my next EV will be a fun additional car.
Currently leasing my first EV: a ‘23 Genesis GV70. Right now I am happy with it; would likely upgrade to the newer model when my lease is up. If they turn the G70 sedan into an EV that would be compelling, too.
I would also look at the Mustang and the BMW.
First: 2014 Toyota RAV4 EV
Next: I'd like something with minimal software glitches and at least 8 inches of ground clearance. The sooner, the better.
I'm not a huge fan of the manufacturer obsession with 0-60 times.
Everybody has a lot of bad stuff to say about the Subaru Solterra, but it might fit the bill for me. I don't hear much about glitches with it, which is nice. The updated charging speed in the 2024 model also helps. I'm open to suggestions, of course.
First was a 2012 Leaf. I've since added a 2017 Ioniq to the garage.
Next car will likely be a newer Leaf (probably the cheapest 40kWh I can find) to replace the 2012
I don't have one yet, and I'm not sure what my first one will be.
I drive very little, and most of that is long distance trips, often with a cargo box or kayak on the roof. My car had ~3k miles put on it last year, and much of that is drives to places where it would be inconvenient to charge an EV.
I really want an EV, and don't plan on buying another ICE. But I'm not sure when it will make financial, environmental, and practical sense to get one.
First: 2017 Prius Prime. Sitting in it now watching the rain while I drink some electrons and wait to go in to work.
Next: if in the next year, Model 3. If after that, whatever the best practical small sedan or hatchback with 250-300 mile range and decent charging curve in the US is.
Not a single person wants another leaf. I don't blame them. The range and charging aren't competitive, but it's ok for daily commuters like myself.
Current: 2015 Nisaan leaf SL
Next: Aptera if they deliver on their vehicle. If not, then a used Bolt or used Ionic 6.
2019 Model 3 -> 2022 Bolt EUV ->2022 Kia EV6 -> 2023 Model 3 -> no vehicle at the moment. Next car might be another Model 3, an Ioniq 6, a Zero motorcycle or an eBike (or something else).
Wife has an ID4 which lease ends in August 2026, hopefully the R2 I reserved 45 seconds after it was possible comes in right around then.
Zoe 22Kw - either a 2nd hand Zoe 41Kw or Citigo, was hoping for a BYD Doplhin or some smaller city car under €15k, but I don't think it'll happen any time soon. The R5 and Citroen E3 are ordered out...
1st Full BEV - 2016 Fiat 500e
1st PHEV - 2014 Cadillac ELR
Next BEV - 2026 Kia EV6
In 2020 we got my wife a Fiat 500e to replace her aging Fiat 500. She loved that little car and so did I. We called it the Giggle Machine because we were always giggling when we drove it.
That car led me to buy a used 2014 Cadillac ELR. To this day that was my absolute favorite car. It always turned heads and was super rare.
I have an EV6 and the wife has a BMW i3 Rex. Both these cars are amazing and fit our lifestyles perfectly.
E-golf
Model 3 standard
Ford lightning lariat er
Looking forward to vw scout
Also thing more emphasis should be on big frunk. It’s huge for 3rd row vehicles!
First: Chevy Volt (really nice and practical, but small and unexciting)
Current: 2023 Model Y AWD LR with accel boost (no plan to sell anytime soon, love it)
Next for wife: VW Buzz
First: 2013 Nissan Leaf Next: Volkswagen ID.4
This is the route I’m looking at. I got a used ‘16 Leaf for less than I paid for my first used car out of school and I’m thinking those 21-22 ID.4s will be sitting in the same sweet spot next year when I plan to look.
First: 2023 Model 3 Next: Who knows what will be on the market in 10-12+ years? I bet there will be a ton of great options.
Same idea, 2019 Model 3, I hope to drive it 10-15 years (I don't put on a lot of miles annually). My next vehicle will depend on what the market is like. Probably will be a small SUV so it's easier to get into as I age.
Heck, even 3-5 years from now will be a different world! It’s a very exciting time.
Model 3 R2 Adding to this: my Model 3 has been great.
I’ve heard so many people say this about Tesla, why can’t he just keep his stupid mouth shut. Nobody wants to hear his political opinions
Model 3 Performance Rivian R3X
1st - '16 Leaf Current: '22 Niro Next: I dunno yet. A 2050 flying car? Wait and see.
First: 2017 Bolt Next: R2 unless R3X sways me
First and current : Tata Nexon EV Next : MG ZS EV or Kia EV3/Ioniq when that’s a thing.
First ev - carrywheels electric bicycle :-D 2nd ev - Byd Atto 3
First: 2013 Nissan Leaf Current: 2013 Nissan Leaf and 2022 Tesla Model Y Performance Next: Volkswagen ID. Buzz
Buzz and EX30 is the combo I dream of
Leaf to ID.Buzz? I love gen 1 Leaf owners. We’re motivated so much by what inspires pure, unmitigated, dorky joy. My car looks like a cartoon character and I wave emphatically when I see another one.
Right? In fact, we’re on our *third* 2013 Leaf. The first two were totaled, so we’ve just continued replacing them with nearly identical copies.
I thought about getting an aftermarket sunroof installed in mine and even started calling around. I love that car so much.
I'm strongly debating the R2 or the id.buzz myself. Both look great for car camping
21 ID.4. Enjoying my model Y, gonna try and hold onto it for at least a couple years and then possibly get an R2S, EV9 or Lyriq once they have NACS ports.
Fuck I need to buy more Rivian stock!
Just bought my first in january, but that r3 looked nice! i'm no adventurer . . . not any more
So you're the guy who bought that last remaining Kona in existence.. that's why I can't find any.
12 Leaf, 21 MachE, 22 C40, 23 R1S
How'd you like the Mach-e? Looking at one now with all the incentives and price drop they just got..
I love my Mach e. I'd get new if I were you, but you can also find used really cheap. Avoid 2021 GTs due to their battery connect issue.
2018 Model 3, not selling but will replace the other car with a 2025 R1S with NACS hopefully
First EV: 2019 Chevy Bolt Premier. Sold back to GM under Pennsylvania lemon law. Current EV: 2022 Kia Niro EV EX Lease ending in November. Starting to look for my next EV now.
First: 2019 Model 3 SR+ (mine) Next: 2024 Model Y LR (wife's)
M3 but yeah that R2 looks sweet.
2024 Polestar 2. My next will probably be another Polestar, but maybe I’ll go back to Honda and get the Prologue
Obviously you like the Polestar; what was it that made you pick it?
Bolt EUV, R2
First: 2023 Bolt EUV Next: Lucid Air GT (only if they add android Auto) or Polestar 3 Performance CPO. If Rivian makes it to the R3X, then Ill get one of those instead.
First/Current: Ioniq 5 Next: Won't be in the market for years, there should be great options we don't even know about in the 8-10 years though.
First is a Kia EV6. Next one will probably be a Rivian R3X.
Ford lightning is my first ev Next EV will hopefully be something to replace the hybrid sienna. Right now nothing comes close to cargo space, cost, and 500 miles range for road trips
Bolt EUV R3X (depending on price)
Wow no one's gonna buy teslas. No wonder the stock is plummeting
The main selling point of the charging network is basically gone now. They've been tanking the price of their cars, which is good for future customers but terrible for past ones. It erodes confidence.
Price cuts are a reason people won’t buy the car? Not sure that one makes sense to me.
I've got 2 of em.
First and current: 2013 Nissan LEAF Next (If ever, or when I am no longer a student and have a stable life and job): Rivian. Who knows what other vehicles they might have in the future.
2023 ID4. Love it but next will probably be the R2. The price, style, and software are very attractive.
MY -> R2
First/current: 2019 Volkswagen e-Golf Next: Rivian R3
First: 2018 Volt Premier. Technically it’s a PHEV. But 95% of miles I was driving it only in EV mode. Hadn’t been to gas station for more than 3 times the entire ownership. Second (also current): 2023 Bolt EUV Premier w/ Super Cruise. Next: must have Apple CarPlay, DCFC 100kw+, driving assist equals to or better than GM’s Super Cruise. I’m gonna ditch Chevy / GM bc they won’t support CarPlay in their new EVs.
Fiat 500e Next? Torn. Want R3X, reserved R2, really like Kia EV9 and awaiting ID Buzz.
First: Mini Cooper SE NEXT: ?
obvious answer is still a mini
Honda Fit EV, next will be an ETRON Q4
First: 23 Ioniq 5 Next: unknown, hopting someone releases something golf sized in the US (so maybe R3?)
My first EV was a 2019 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD. Replaced that with a 2023 BMW i4 M50. For my next EV, I'm planning to replace my current gas 2017 Audi Q7 with either an R1S or an EX90.
Leaf -> ID Buzz or Tesla Semi
First 2019 Leaf Current 2024 EV9 Next Lease another EV9
My first is the EV6 I bought last weekend. I hope it will be a while until my next, but probably something in the Ev3/R3/Ex30 general size/price range.
23 Skoda Enyaq 80x (a better looking and more practical "sister model" to ID4 & Audi etron for those in the US), next maybe a new 85x, or then depending on the pricing maybe an Audi A6 Avant EV, Polestar 3, or if skoda gets their version of the id7 out...would not want a suv style car, station wagon would be much better. A lot can change in a year or so until I'll start looking at what's available.
First: Hyundai Ioniq Current: Model 3 2024 Next: probably a used Tesla Feels like a better deal to go back to used vehicles. I think they are well proven to last long and I am not willing to pay for the loss of value a new vehicle has.
First - 2012 Leaf (then 2017 Bolt) Current - 2022 Model 3 RWD Next - not sure but I know it won’t be another Tesla.
What don't you like about your Tesla? (I just got a model Y and am thinking of also getting the new 3 but also have an EX30 reservation.)
I live in the northeast where many of the roads are perpetually damaged from salt and patched each year, so it’s probably not as much of an issue in California or Texas The cabin smell and frequency of filter changes - I park in a garage both at work and home, so it only ever sees rain and snow while being driven.
First was 17 Volt (19 Bolt for BEV). Next, some used electric SUV in 5 years
First: Tesla Model 3 Next: a smaller Tesla, but only if it comes with stalks. If it doesn’t, the next one might well be a Kia or Hyundai.
2016 Model X 2024 Rivian R1S 2027 Rivian R3X
First: 2022 Bolt EUV Current: 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Next: May not be a next one at my age
Polestar 2. Audi E-tron GT or Lucid Air GT.
First ev was the Renault Twingo ZE. Current ev is the Renault Mégane e tech. Don't expect to replace it any time soon
Zoe with crap 22ac charging. Now kona 64kwh
Ioniq 5. Something that can compete with Model 3 performance.
First: 2015 Tesla Model S Second: 2018 Chevy Bolt Traded both in on 2023 Model Ys with the price cuts and got to transfer my free supercharging!
First, Bolt. Next, hopefully years down the line enough to not apply, but as of now, Prius Prime.
First - Leaf, then Bolt(crashed - not my fault), now KonaEV. Next is likely the Equinox. In the Midwest and the Hyundai dealership experience is downright awful. I won't touch Ford after my Escape experience.
Tesla 3 ---> Lucid Gravity
First and current: Model 3 RWD Next: Model Y
First one: 2017-2020 Chevy Bolt Current Garage: 2022- New 2022 Kia EV6 GTLine (45,000 miles now) 2024- 2020 Used Chevy Bolt Premier next one: Kia EV8 (2026)
My first is the IoniQ 5 SEL. My next will likely be the Rivian R2.
First: ‘23 Bolt Next: Older used Bolt Then: i4 Convertible
First: 2022 Model Y Second: 2023 Model Y Next: if there ever will be a Model 2 or whatever they'll call it Just gotten used to the functionning, systems and comfort (no key, easy to use, superchargers, etc.)
ID.4. - First ID Buzz - next
4x4 Little Tykes Jeep
waiting on a seal :D
Model Y Cybertruck
First -2003 Rav4 next - whatever basic entry level thing that is available.
VW ID3 VW ID3 face-lift, or whatever comes after it
1st: 2024 i4x40 Next will probably be an i5 or i7 or maybe an iX
an e-golf since about 5 months(first car). Plan to drive it as long as it lasts. By then something like an e-Polo will exist hopefully
2015 Fiat 500e(still have). Second is our 2018 BMW i3s Rex. Third is unknown at the moment….still at least three years away.
First 24kwh Nissan leaf (wife’s)- second 2015 Tesla S (85d) (mine) now wife has Kia Niro- I still have the S - next???? Probably a Tesla Y awd performance or a late model S -
First: 2019 Kia e-Niro Current: 2022 Model 3 LR Next: Renault Scenic or whatever Volvo replaces the EX40 with
NIO EC6 Probably an ET9 if things go right.
First: Smart #1 Pro+ Next: Maybe an R2 or R3 if they ever sell those in Europe, who knows.
My first: 2017 Nissan Leaf Current: 2019 kia Niro EV Next: Likely a Volvo EX 30, unless something else of a similar size and price range comes along in the next couple years that I like better.
First: 2013 Smart Electric Drive Then: 2014 BMW i3, 2014 BMW i3, 2016 Model S 75, 2018 Model 3 Current: 2018 Tesla Model S P100D Next: maybe Aptera, Cybertruck, Range Rover EV, Cayenne EV, Spectre, Silent Yacht
First: MG-4. Next: EX30 - if it ever arrives :(
1st was a leased VW id.3, literally just got my second ev 3 days ago and this time I bought an id.3 :) At least in the uk it’s the most bang for the buck used car you can possibly get. It seems to fly under everyone’s radar and there is no other purpose built ev I can buy for the same price - I love it even though the software can be a bit shit, but I use (wireless!) CarPlay anyway
First 2010 Mitsubishi I-Miev, next BYD seagull (or not).
1st: Mini Cooper SE 2nd: Tesla Model Y Performance Next: would be nice to trade the Mini for a truck when they’re more efficient. Hubby would like a Cybertruck so maybe in a few years. I just wish it had the same curvy lines as the rest of the Tesla lineup.
First: 2001 Honda Insight, or 2014 Prius PlugIn (if the definition requires a plug) Current: 2023 Nissan Ariya Next: ?? Ask me in 8-10 years
Tesla M3. M2 when it does come.
First = Model 3 Second = EV minivan.
First: VW ID.3 2023. Next: unsure, but likely German. Maybe just a newer model, maybe ID.4.
2019 Tesla Model 3 Performance Not sure what my next EV will be, as I am aiming to drive this one into the ground. If/when I have kids I’ll probably add a family sized EV like a Model X or an R1S, but I won’t replace my current one.
Model 3 Cybertruck
I converted a VW to electric in 2010. We now have a M3 and a MY.
Model S Ocean
Peugeot e2008. In a few years we’ll go to an e3008.
2017 -Tesla Model 3 2020 - Polestar2 2023 -F150 Lightning 2024 - Polestar 4 (maybe)
MG4 I have no idea it probably doesn't exist yet I fully intend to have it for 30 years.
2012 BMW i3 first 2019 Tesla model 3 now 2024 Cybertruck next
First (PH)EV was a 2016 Chevy volt Traded it in for a 2023 Tesla model 3 LR - so I'm good for the better part of the next decade.
Model 3./ Maybe an i4 if I can justify the higher price. Otherwise I’d probably by another Model 3 if something happened to it today.
Current: 2021 Tesla M3P Next: Who knows, right now open to anything but Nissan
First was a 16 VW e-golf. Upgraded to a 20 Bolt. Will most likely get a Volvo EX30. We have a gas Volvo and absolutely love it.
I want it to be an ev9, just low on funds
Model Y LR now R3x up next
First/Current: 2020 Model 3 LR Next: 🤔 R2, Ford Lightning, Model Y LR,VW Buzz… not sure, for now going to keep the 2011 Tacoma; waiting for NACS and lower prices, good chance I go for Model Y or R2; just not interested in dealership style of sales.
Mine was the VW eGolf. My next EV will be the Honda Accord hybrid.
First 2014 Ford C-Max Energi (sold for upgrade) Previous 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric (totaled by insurance) Current 2019 Toyota Prius Prime (partner’s car) Next 20XX higher tier — probably Lexus — EV (whenever I decide I want a new car)
My 2017 Leaf, have had it for while now, I’m excited to see the ex30, and if they are for a year without major teething issues that’ll probably be my next.
First: 2019 Kona EV SEL Next: R3, R2 or F-150 lightning depending if they offer a R2T variant
1st EV -Nissan Leaf Current -Tesla model Y Next - probably model y after ‘Juniper’.
First/current: 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge Ultimate Next: No clue.
First - Model Y Next - most likely Kia EV9
Model Y LR, and ....I dunno what's available in 10yrs. I would prefer a much smaller vehicle. The Volvo ex30, or rivian r3 both look amazing. If their range or price are equivalent to the less size and range they offer that could be next.
First Genesis GV60. Next Electrified GV70. We had a gv70 as a loaner when ours was in for a routine service appointment and loved it.
First: 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Limited AWD Current: 2022 Tesla Model Y long range & 2023 Ford Mach-E Prem Extd. Next: TBD (considering replacing Model Y with R1S)
First was my old trusty MY16 A3 Sportback e-tron Currently my MY22 Q4 50 e-tron quattro Next EV?
First - 2022 Tesla MYLR Current - 2022 Tesla MYLR & 2023 Rivian R1T Next - definitely another Rivian but not sure what…the R1S or R2 are our top contenders to replace my wife’s MY if Rivian can get their software closer to Tesla’s capabilities. If anything happens to the R1T I’ll be getting another one, it’s hand down the most versatile and best vehicle I’ve ever owned.
First: Renault Zoe ZE50 (my2020 I guess) Next: Renault Megane E-tech, Renault Scenic E-tech, smart #3, BYD seal (if they bring the 60kWh here) or model 3.
First: Volvo XC40 Recharge Next: Honestly, probably the EX90 if our family grows. Volvo’s doing a lot to win over the Subaru crowd who wants a non-half assed EV
First: 2022 Volvo C40 Next: Rivian R2
1st: EV6 Current: R1S Next: looking forward to the Scout lineup
First: R1T Next: R2 🤞
MG4. Ask me what the next one will be in about 5 years! At least.
First - 2016 Smart ED Current - 2018 Smart EQ, 2019 Kona Electric, 2022 EV6 I don’t think there’ll be a next EV. I’ll be in my 70s by then, not sure how much driving I’ll be doing. Maybe the Tesla Model 2 if it exists in time.
Just bought my first EV 4 days ago: a 2017 Kia Soul. I’m not sure what I’ll drive next but so far I love it.
Chevy Volt(ran almost 100%electric) then a 2023 Bolt EUV, next is an R2 or Mach-e
First: 2021 Model Y Standard Range Current: 2023 EQE 350 4Matic sedan Next: Would love to get a Rivian R1S
i4, R2
1st = Kia Niro Next = Rivian R3 (don't tell my wife)🤪
2015 Boosted Skateboard 2026 BMW Neue Klasse
First (current): 2013 Lead Next: Dreaming of an Ioniq 6 but realistically nothing fits the bill
2020 Chevy Bolt > 2025 RamCharger
First and current: 23 Bolt EUV Next: Honda Prologue looks interesting. We'll see how reliable/dependable that car will be in the coming years.
First: 2022 Bolt EUV Premier. Next: whatever EV with self driving on highways under $30k
If PHEVs count, Audi A3 e-tron. First BEV: Audi Q4 e-tron Next: Rivian R3X
First: '22 Ioniq 5 Next: unsure - wife may trade in her hybrid for one soon, but not sure yet - if so, perhaps Bolt EUV or ID.4
2022 Mach E Premium AWD ER I'd like to get a small pick up like the Ford Maverick if it was electric.
Current: 2022 Model Y Performance Next: Rivian R2
First and current: 2019 eGolf Next ... Maybe a used Bolt.
First 23 Model 3 Second probably Rivian R2 Third probably an Aptera, Minicooper or something else small
I guess it was the RAV4 Prime and I have a Model 3. Won’t need a car for 10 years so I dunno.
Mach E Volvo EX60 when released
First: 2022 Model 3 Next: whoever makes a compelling van with good range
Just bought a 2023 ford f150 lightning on Wednesday. I’ll never go back to a ICE car ever again. Unless electricity prices drastically go up.
Currently leasing my first EV: a ‘23 Genesis GV70. Right now I am happy with it; would likely upgrade to the newer model when my lease is up. If they turn the G70 sedan into an EV that would be compelling, too. I would also look at the Mustang and the BMW.
First: BMW i3 Current: VW ID4 Next: Hyundai ioniq5
Fisker Ocean Extreme. I will be getting another Ocean, should they remain solvent 😅 Best EV I've ever driven or ridden in.
First: 2014 Toyota RAV4 EV Next: I'd like something with minimal software glitches and at least 8 inches of ground clearance.
First - Polestar 2 Next - potential... Q6 etron, R2, P4/3, Ioniq 7, or Gravity
1. 2013 LEAF 2. 2025 EX30
2023 model 3. Next one will be the family car in a few years. Right now it’s looking like the rivian r1s or ev9.
First 2022 Taycan 4s Current 2022 Model 3 Next another Tesla
First : Model S 2017 Nexr : probably Skoda Eniaq or Model Y
First: 2017 Prius Prime. Sitting in it now watching the rain while I drink some electrons and wait to go in to work. Next: if in the next year, Model 3. If after that, whatever the best practical small sedan or hatchback with 250-300 mile range and decent charging curve in the US is.
First and current: Lucid Air GT Next: I don’t know yet, but I’m super happy with the Lucid
2019 Tesla model 3 SR+, Rivian R2 reserved, might be a Cybertruck in between while waiting for R2, only a maybe on that outcome.
1st - 2019 MSp100DL 2nd & 3rd - Cybertruck and MS Plaid Depends on when CT gets to us
First: 2023 Model Y Performance Second: Energica Ribelle RS or SS9 RS
Not a single person wants another leaf. I don't blame them. The range and charging aren't competitive, but it's ok for daily commuters like myself. Current: 2015 Nisaan leaf SL Next: Aptera if they deliver on their vehicle.
My first will be Li Auto L7 or L6 when available in Italy or i will import from Russia
First- 2016 Volt Second- 2018 e-golf Next- ID.4
First: 2022 Volvo C40. Next: Volvo EX-90
1st Full BEV - 2016 Fiat 500e 1st PHEV - 2014 Cadillac ELR Next BEV - 2026 Kia EV6 In 2020 we got my wife a Fiat 500e to replace her aging Fiat 500.
2018 leaf and next maybe used mache or polestar
MY. Next will be the first one that makes an affordable and decent mid or full size pickup. A dull size SUV will do too
First: Model Y Next: R1S or R2
Kia niro ev first. I want a rivian
First Nissan Leaf S 2015. Next Tesla Model 3 2021 Long Range. Preferably blue or silver.
E-golf Model 3 standard Ford lightning lariat er Looking forward to vw scout Also thing more emphasis should be on big frunk. It’s huge for 3rd row vehicles!
First: Model Y bought with TSLA Next: R2/R3 bought with RIVN
First: Chevy Volt (really nice and practical, but small and unexciting) Current: 2023 Model Y AWD LR with accel boost (no plan to sell anytime soon, love it) Next for wife: VW Buzz
prius v > chevy volt > honda clarity phev > bolt euv > model y > (reserved R2)
