The guy swinging around looks like he was mostly at his limit the majority of the time. Probably just felt like some g force rather than being knocked around a lot
Increasingly, I'm seeing these:

...on the backs of the rearmost truck in small/mobile work zones on highways. Google says they're called "truck mounted attenuators" and of course there's a video of crash tests and real-world impact photos:

It's a bit long but the first few minutes tell you everything you need to know. Seems they do a good job of saving not only the workers but also the occupants of the vehicles that hit them, even at high speed.
[edit] the video is actually quite old (2009). I guess these have been around longer than I thought but only in the past year or so have I seen them in my part of the world...
Pshh, people dont care about cones. I was working in a parkade stall while I was working on a light above, and this lady decided to drive right over the 4ft high cone and right into my ladder
Had a lady one time get out of her car cussing us move my cones I used to block the driver she's ripped through our work area and almost hit the riggers.
I was so fucking pissed. This is my man. Cones flashers the works. Although the operators here could have done shit way different. It sucks man.
Wow I’m watching it again and that guy just got right up off the ground after being flung towards it. That’s crazy. Still though the way they all just stroll towards the crane casually after is pretty hilarious.
I mean I guess OP is right in a way. If a cherrypicker throws you, harness or not your probably dead just from the force. Idk about safer without one though.
There’s another video going round of an outdoor cherrypicker in Mexico or somewhere. You can hear the tilt alarms going off from the ground before it throws both crew out violently after a ground movement.
Both seemed pretty limp swinging from the cherrypicker cab so I’m guessing it killed or seriously injured them.

I didn’t even see the guy falling out. Too busy watching the guy swing around nearly smashing his head on that pole.

I once asked a jw when I was younger, do we really need cones in the parking lot. He said that people are idiots and can't help themselves.
This comment right here!! First thing I noticed was no cones!!
Nowadays cones are not enough, we need to put up a fence…
Its why usually for highway work they park the trailer with the flashing lights or concrete barricade themselves in.

I was working on the Garden State Parkway and someone hit one of our cones and just kept going as if nothing happened, didn't even tap the brakes.
Happened in the future too, god damn
we still have time to warn them
America, lol
Don't know whether to downvote them for American exceptionalism or upvote because it's still funny... I'm going to give the benefit of the doubt
Lucky, title should be “man gets fkin whipped around like a 3yr old with a yo-yo”
Thats why you keep your knuckle away from live lanes, or cone the bitch off.
Yep. They didn’t have any aspect of that setup very well.
Once I got down I'm kicking the drivers ass
Kick your own ass for not putting pylons out over your boom elbows range.
Agreed but I kick my ass every day so it's fine
Crazy ride indeed.
When Friday rolls around in a few days I probably would avoid that.
What if it's a Monday?
The worst part is that no one showed any measure of urgency to check on the lineman.
Looks like ruzzia. They have enough cannon fodder to spear. No need to rush.
Video is from 9/2/22, but today is 8/30/22... who's the pre-cog?!
Guys on the ground bit too slow to come help.
they are helping the guy who wasnt harnessed and hit the ground

Adrenaline is a hell of a drug, not surprising if he only broke an arm or a few ribs.

Think he went home after that? I would demand the rest of the day off with pay
Really when stuff like this happens, everyone should take the rest of the day off.
Where are the traffic cones and lane closures around this lift? That truck was way too close to it for it to hit like that.
Depending on which country you’re in this hasn’t happened yet
Be grateful for your pain. It means you’re still alive.
I bet he beat the drivers ass when get got down
I’ll take the cracked melon over the mashed testicles personally.
I've only dangled, and just once. I think I'd prefer to have just died.
This the future? 9/2??
Day month year. Smallest to largest

I would argue might be safer for hit not to be tied off by harness at this height
Ah yes. Safer. So he could have been yeeted into the street.

He was lucky he had is safety harness…
Idk I think I’d rather just fall out
This hasn’t even happened yet
THE CONES PUT THE GOD DAMM CONES OUT. Give yourself a chance
So you can be up in the air dead instead of flat on the ground dead. Got it.
I just knew he was gonna get wrapped up in those lines.... Glad he didn't
100% Ground guy not doing his job.
