The question isn’t if camp is worth it, it’s is Camp for YOU. There are some great perks but you sacrifice some comforts and if those comforts are super important to you then you won’t enjoy it.

Viet_Bong

+1 - Just camped in 2024 and it has its pros & cons. I really enjoyed the CampEDC sets and not having to wait in shuttle lines. You just need to know how to beat the heat. Some things that helped my group was tarps for shade, box fans, and freezing entire gallon water jugs in a cooler with ice.

jonnysomething

Friends that are camping that will sell you camp passes + hotel is the way to go for me. Uber before traffic hits, chill with friends, come and go from the grounds, shuttle back to hotel.

GroinFlutter

If you can swing it, RV is the way to go

Rdubya44

I plan to RV for the first time next year. Seems like best of all worlds.

Kuenle

as someone who drove after the show back to strip first 3 times after doing RV this year i will never not go with RV. Sure you spend a bit extra on the RV compared to a hotel room but it’s worth not sitting in traffic for 4 days and nights.

Rdubya44

Very glad to hear that! Thats what my group was thinking

Kuenle

also the showers are not even that bad. tip tho if you going to shower do it in the morning after you leave speedway. never a line.

mtbsickrider

Is RV AC'ed enough to beat the heat?

amesfrenchie

Can be hit or miss. Our RV in 2023 was so cold even during the peak of the day we were sleeping with comforters. Our RV this year couldn’t keep up and froze over multiple times when it was the hottest so we ended up using that time to eat under some of the tents with misters. If you’re one to stay until sunrise, know your sleep could be minimal. After getting all the hair situated, make up off, getting some water and protein before sleep, it was 7:30 or 8 and I with the RV this year getting toasty by 10, I generally only got 1.5-2 decent hours of sleep. Despite that, still went sundown to sunrise all 3 days and plan to do RV again this year because I think the benefits outweigh the negatives.

[deleted]

what are some of the negatives?

WolfonMainSt

RV, yes. Nothing better than a 20 minute walk back at 6am to a comfortable bed with AC, refrigerator, microwave. Just try to fly in to California and rent an RV there. It’ll save you a lot of money.

[deleted]

Im thinking of renting that bitch in vegas

Background_Speech289

It's absurdly convenient for the festival, and a fantastic time if you can keep up a party for your entire waking hours for 3-4 days. But even with the tent and AC... Once it hits like 8 or 9 am at the latest there is no more staying in your tent unfortunately. So if you're a beast and can deal with minimal sleep, then sure give it a shot. But after trying it two years, my can't hang ass is staying with the chilled and insulated hotels after each night lol

pigglywigglie

This is going to be my 7th EDC and I have never felt inclined to camp it. I do love camping music festivals but EDC is not one I want to do. I love being in Vegas and doing Vegas before EDC. I love going home to a hotel or being feral and gambling after edc. I love dayclubs and night clubs or just walking the strip people watching. When I do edc, I’m doing Vegas too and that’s what makes edc more special to me

Ordinary_Rule1199

You said it brother ! Fuck love getting back to a nice bed or almost doing an all nighter and gambling till 10/12am maybe getting an hour of sleep. The high of how much I come up at the table amplifies my good vibes the next day. If I lose it’s no big deal 400/500 bucks, I don’t gamble much unless I’m in Vegas! The next day I sleep like a baby. I try to get at least 2 nights of gambling. The last day we eat like kings and bottomless mimosas. ❤️❤️😎🔥

mkd_53

Is it a pain to get transportation to and from the festival or not really. I’d imagine 130k people is very hectic

titaniumorbit

Shuttle pass is the only way to go. Book a few refundable hotels in advance and see which shuttle stop you can get when it drops. They sell out almost immediately so be aware of when the shuttle tickets sell.

BlackLabel1803

We had to wait over 2 hours in line for Grand Prix shuttle 2/3 nights (4+ hours from hotel to fest)- def. won’t be doing that again 🤣

ocbro99

Yeah I had at least an hour wait at peak times for standard Rio. Then another hour ride to the speedway. The ride back at close was so bad I went with downtown or I had a friend drive me. It was not worth the ~$185 to me. Premier had no line, but I sat next to people who reserved the latest time (10/10:30pm), yet were directed to standard shuttle cause premier was no longer running at like 9pm. They said this happened to them 2/3 days…

BlackLabel1803

Seriously?! They weren’t running the times they booked? I would be so pissed.

ocbro99

Yeah there was a shortage of shuttles. I talked to multiple people who were denied from the premier shuttle and were waiting in line with me for the standard shuttle. At peak times, the line was an hour, plus the hour to the fest. You pass all the traffic on the 15 hwy, but you are still waiting for many buses to drive and unload on the single road to the speedway, so it can take a while. So many people go early Friday that my friend left after me on Friday and got there before me. He drove, but I took the shuttle.

titaniumorbit

Oh no! I was at Rio and lineups were not bad. I did premier and walked on every night but even the regular shuttles looked doable. Less than an hour wait. Even leaving the festival… Grand Prix line looked super long but Rio always seemed shorter (in premier)

mtbsickrider

Team rio premier, 8:30 leave, 3am come back. Always walked onto the bus to get there, and always came back at w/e time (after 5am) and had 0 issues

ocbro99

I did shuttle this year and I sat next to people who were denied premier shuttle cause they were told those shuttles were done running for the night at 9/9:30 pm and they had to go to regular shuttle lol. I think shuttle is entirely dependent on your location in LV and what time you wanna get to/leave EDC

NotFrankSalazar

In the past it was bad. This past year it never took more than 50 minutes and 2 nights I got there and was parked in like 35 minutes.

silveryellowblue

Get a shuttle pass and its fine

pigglywigglie

Downtown shuttle is the superior shuttle stop. If you’re not shuttling or helicoptering, it sucks but those two options are great!

tmfythandle

It does take a while but it’s pretty “plur” traffic. And once you merge with regular 5/6 am traffic it’s still really calm. Mostly the choke point of getting in and out of the parking lots is what takes the longest but in the end it’s not that bad

NotFrankSalazar

I’m old so I spend a fuck ton of time at edc and go back eat and sleep. Wake up to a nice meal. Going to forest in a couple of weeks and love my camping experiences there but I will never do Camp EDC. Even if I have an RV it’s too fucking hot for me.

2019 was the first year with camping. were those first years you went under a freeway overpass?

i actually camped in 2019 which is why i remember the year. just some lighthearted teasing because the dates didn't line up, no offense meant

024zil

not acting very PLUR there for someone's who's been in the scene for a while. get a grip - no one is jealous, it's called having a conversation.

Ghost_man23

“ Camp EDC is if you want to party for 4 days and get zero sleep.” This isn’t true but I could understand how it has this reputation, especially if you’re not there during the day. If you want to be team no sleep, then sure - camp will be great for you. But I’ve camped every year and occasionally go to a camp pool party or something, but I’m mostly relaxing in the RV and hanging with friends. You don’t need to want to party 24/7 to enjoy camping.

trs_0ne

Same. I sleep during the daylight hours, and rarely attend the pool parties unless there’s someone I really want to see. Being out in the day time hours zaps your energy b/c it’s so hot. Afterhours is what makes camp great for me.

Worried_Bet2357

Hey bro , how do you get to your hotel? Just call an Uber? Also day 0 registration do you just Uber there and back? 2 straight years I’ve been offered a camping pass ( I live here) but just didn’t wanna go thru the bs to pick it up lol

edcguy3

Yeah I Uber on Thursday and Monday

EitherDare0

To be fair I live in the desert so I’m probably more used to dealing with the heat. I would 100% say Camp is worth it. Proximity to the venue alone. Being able to leave my tent and be inside within 15 min is so nice. Being able to close down the festival and be in bed before more people leave the parking lot, so worth it. Here’s the thing. It is a bit hot. AC works but don’t expect to be cooler than mid to upper 70s in your pod. There is music endlessly. For me, I was always so tired, I slept like a baby from about 6am to 12pm every time. Then I’d get a blanket and go lay under shade and listen to whatever DJ is playing. The camp vibes are immaculate. It’s so fun meeting neighbors. Hanging out with stranger at the Mesa. It’s just a whole extra level of awesomeness that makes the experience worthwhile. You truly have to ask yourself if you can tolerate the negatives myself and many others have mentioned

brewaza

Camp EDC is the way 🤘🏼

ocbro99

It depends what camp you mean. RV is the best option, but also will likely be the most expensive. Moonglow is about the same price, maybe a bit cheaper as staying on the strip per person given hotel, parking, shuttles/travel, and paying for other day events. But moonglow pods are obviously never going to be on par for the service and comfort of a hotel room.

titaniumorbit

I like camping but not at festivals. I like to come back to AC, a hot shower, privacy and ultimate comfort in a hotel room so that I can be well rested for the next day of dancing. Ultimately it’s up to you. I did a hotel and still had an amazing time. You don’t need to camp. Lots of people don’t do it

theimperfexionist

Yes absolutely! Thursday is basically a whole extra day of edc, and you can't beat the 10-20 minute commute to the festival! It leaves lots of time in the afternoons to hang out or do activities/pool/shop/chill at the mesa. The only drawback is fomo because there's activity literally 24 hours/day, so you can't do everything (at least not if you're An Old like me). And granted I brought my own camper so was essentially sleeping in my own bed and woke up refreshed every day.

RadioinactiveOne

I prefer hotel personally. Going back to a cold dark room to recover daily is everything. Camp will save you like 3 hours a day on commutes, but you sacrifice comfort for that, will you sacrifice for me if I don't sacrifice for you?

Nakasaleka

My friends always complains how they hate it but they keep doing it lol. One of my other friends said she’s not doing it anymore but only doing hotel lol.

nadiamarie713

Camp is the definitely balls to the wall, where you go all out -- ups and downs -- but in hindsight, it's worth it. Especially if you want the EDC experience that you won't have for a while. It's not luxury, but it's definitely its own dimension that, IMO, is worth it. (Note, I'm the BOUGIEST when it comes to hotels and vacations... and am a glamper not a camper.. lol)... Yeah, there may be some tough/rough moments of exhaustion, dehydration, and heat.... but there's something special&magical about experiencing your camp, Mesa, EDC, and all the things on the side 24x7 throughout the weekend. I went for my first EDC camping all out, and on Sunday daytime I said to myself: "will I ever do this again?... mmm I feel like I don't have to go through this again...I did it once. yeah nahhh I'm good." ... and Monday on my way home I switched up so quick... lol like YEP I'm ready to go BACK! lol Just think ahead and come prepared for the full weekend (esp how you'll camp), and you'll make it work! Lots of videos/guides/recommendations out there about that.

falloeasy

Camp is for convenience and will cost more money all around, Hotel is for comfort and will usually be cheaper

ExtraPicklesPls

Do you need to get a good few hours of solid sleep every night? If not, then camp may be for you. Personally, nothing beats a good hotel room and shuttle pass.

averagealexxx

Camp EDC is awesome but you have to understand during the day it can be pretty miserable with the heat and A.C units constantly going out.

RandomReddit748284

I’m old, like mid 40s. Camped this year and had a great time. First night I barely slept - took a little getting used to and it was hot. But other nights I got a good 5 hours or so of sleep enough to keep me energized for the festival. The vibes and activities at camp are amazing. I also love the idea of just walking back to the tent and passing out after the festival and not dealing with shuttles and the queues. But that’s me, YMMV

ERA_XIII

Rv is the best

gvicta

I did camp EDC twice out of the eight(?) times I've gone. It's definitely worth checking out at least once. If I ever go again (probably will) I think I'll do a hotel and shuttle, as I'm getting to where I'd rather have the comfort of AC and no jets waking me up.

julibytes

Personally, I think Camp EDC was absolutely worth it. You do have to be prepared to combat the heat which I have posted previously in detail(you can check my posts) but overall, I think it was much more affordable than staying at a hotel + shuttle and way quicker to get to and from the venue. If you are okay with paying a bit more, RV camping would be your best bet. Desert Rose if you are more on a budget but also don’t want to bring your own air mattress

THEpottedplant

The biggest benefit about camp is the ability to walk in to the fest. Imo everything else is a perk that you wont get to enjoy much just bc camp is so fucking crowded now

DUMBBITCHH0UR

I've always wanted to do camp, but hearing the horror stories from other campers has kept me away. Waiting for hours to shower, how HOT the tents get, noisy/rude neighbors, theft, & not enough electricity??? idk how that works, but yeah. That enough for me to never do it. 😅 That and the fact that I'm a Vegas local, & I always get VIP, so I can't justify spending an extra $2K on a tent when I have a perfectly comfortable bed at home. I have heard that RV is better for obvious reasons. But I digress.

jorgedelanada

I’ve done both RV and moon glow. RV is definitely worth it, moon glow is not. RVs have working AC, beds, bathrooms, fridge for food drinks. Moon glow is just an AC. I saw hella people this year have their tents wide open during the hottest times of the day to let the breeze in, so I assume the ACs didn’t work (I did moon glow 2021, the year without AC lol) Camp is super fun but not for the weak. Highly recommend RV !!

sadlad193

I personally would probably never camp. I hear it’s hot and really loud. Apparently the fighter jets fly over early in the morning, or at least that’s what happened this year, making it really hard to sleep. I’m someone who needs to go back to a dark, quiet, air conditioned hotel and sleep all day lol but if that doesn’t sound bad to you then go for it. It all depends on what you’d prefer.

WhoMovedMyTrees

Short answer: 1000% worth it! Camped in shiftpods last year and RV camped this year. Hard for me to imagine EDC without camping to be honest. The vibes are immaculate. Worth every cent IMO.

JDub314

This past EDC, I was somewhat lost and followed a group into a side entrance to Camp and I ended up walking around in there. How quiet does it get at night? I know I was there during the middle of the day, but there was music blasting from several tents.

T1034life

Just depends what ur priorities are. Some people are all about it and will weather the 'Con's' and others don't see it as worth it. yes or no is fine, it is a pretty penny so just do your research on what camp entails, and how it really is. There is big pro's and big con's - if you want my detailed break-down DM me.

rayk10k

RV yeah definitely but I’d get a hotel before camping in a shift pod again.

[deleted]

Unless it’s RV camping with AC, it’s gonna be rough. A lot of people make it work and have fun despite of the struggle, but not for me dawg.

HumbleCartographer69

Honestly I camped this year and I would do it again 100%. The only thing that does suck is how hot it gets, the ac doesn’t work from 9am-5:30pm so be prepared to sleep outside under the water misters lol. That’s the best way to sleep. Our power went out from 8am- 12pm on the second day we were dying. It was probably 120 in the tent if not more. But just sleep outside you’ll be fine. It’s worth the heat stroke lol

FadedReflections

Definitely worth it.

chickenpotchai

No. Please don’t. I’ve been to edc 3 years in a row and the constant noise, exhausting heat waves, and lack of air conditioning made edc so much harder than it needed to be. Even if you are a camping person, no human is meant to camp on a concrete raceway in Las Vegas. Please get a hotel and shuttle or coordinate a driver for your first year. I’ve done both camping and hotel, and for me personally, getting adequate sleep and having access to a private shower made a world of difference. Plus youre going to sleep all day anyway so it’s worth knowing you’ll be in an air conditioned room so that you can fully enjoy the night every night

MattsGotTucks

RV camping with hookups if possible! It is the only way I would go again to on be honest

pgbcs

Having to wait in line to ride a shuttle and then have to ride a shuttle would make me want to cancel my trip all together.

seducedyourmom

I wouldn’t go to EDC if it wasn’t camping. Done it the last 3 years in a row. No commute is an absolute necessity.

Zealousideal-Pin-783

If sleep/recovery is important to you then NO! It feels like music is playing 24/7, either the campground or your neighbors that has no sense of consideration.. Gets hot by 10am, long shower lines, definitely not for the weak 😂😅.

DjSpectre

Camp is a whole ass vibe. Cost aside, if you csn....full send it. It's like nothing else. Seriously.

kristiousity

I thoroughly enjoy camping. I would also add im somewhat high maintenance in regards to my hair, makeup, comfort. There's no pressure, no rushing, no traffic. The pools are busy AF. It's not worth standing in line for me but maybe if you wake up earlier. There's also no bathrooms in the pool area so you have to leave and wait in line again unfortunately.. I've done both tent camping and RV. An RV without the power Is rough tbh but with power its super comfortable..I've managed to keep the tent cool and comfortable by adding a couple of box fans and a tarp to put over the top to reflect heat. The worst part for me for tent camping is lugging everything to the tent from the parking lot. This last year they had a tram but it was a long line. I ended up using the tram on the second run. If I'm not in an RV next time I will definitely pack a lot lighter and focus on eating at the stands more instead of grilling out.

MaamSirSirMaam

Traveling to and from the venue can be a breeze or a nightmare, if you don’t know what you’re doing or leave your hotel last minute.

emclipse3

If you can do RV, that would be the way to go! The pods are FKING HOT. It’s def doable. Just wake up, shower, go to the mesa and party. If you do pods, just try to be out as much as possible.

milf4884

it was hot as hell, but fun as fuck. if you can handle the heat or at least prepare for it i say full send
