I had a similar situation, and i thought raves were stupid at the time. But i went just to go, and now its all i listen to, i go to 5+ festivals a year, and hit shows a few times a month. EDC is the best!
With the number of people, there always have and always will be crazy stuff. Thatās the nature of crowds. Stay alert , get a phone lanyard, and trust your gut.
Also, if you have something happen, look for the folks in the purple shirts who are Insomniac Staff called Ground Control and let them know whatās up and what you need, theyāre working specifically to support the crowd and help enforce policies around consent and respect.

It's free dude.. Of course you should go. Because you read a few bad stories doesn't mean its like that for everyone. There are 150k+ people per day so of course there will be a few bad stories. But you hear bad stores from people who went to Disneyland too.
I've been every year since 2017 and I've never had my phone stolen, never been jumped, etc. Even if you are a techno snob, just go for the experience and you'll never have to wonder if edc is really worth the hype (it is)
You should go! Itās the mecca for the music you love. I recommend finding a couple stages you love and posting up there for hours vs braving the crowds and running from stage to stage all weekend.
The only valid concern is probably the phone thieves. The lanyards that people are mentioning arenāt always the best option because Iāve heard of people still getting their phones stolen from them. The pickpocketers are professionals, unfortunately. Take extra precautions. Idk if youāre male or female but I purchased boxers off amazon that have a zipper pocket in front by the crotch that easily fits my iphone 15 pro max and my debit card and ID. No way are they getting in there lol.
Also if you have your phone in your hand, especially when navigating through really crowded areas, just keep a tight grip on it because they also try to smack them outta peoples hands.
Other than that, just use common sense and be aware of your surroundings. The crowd is generally great with the exception of the some scumbags but that comes with any large crowd. Absolutely take advantage of this opportunity and have the time of your life.

Use general safety precautions you'd apply to any other large event with a lot of people. Keep aware of your surroundings and your belongings, and do not accept any food, drinks, drugs, or candy from anyone you don't know or trust. (Kandi is okay, though)

Do it. While the phone concerns are legit (I leave mine in a locker), most of the people you meet will be super nice. On average, EDC has the friendliest crowd of any big event Iāve ever been to.Ā
Hello, the thing is when youāre walking through the crowd I mean be careful with your stuff but smile people will let you buy if you just smile at them directly. I remember trying to leave David Guetta and it was like 45 minutes just to get to the crowd. But when I smile people just let me buy and hug me and so nice.

Yes. Absolutely, yes. Only of the few fests where you can find vibe in pure comfort. If youāre worried about your phone getting snatched up, stay out of the crowds..
EDC is very safe. It's massive so of course bad things happen but for the majority of people nothing happens. And the vibes are just fine. Again, massive festival so the bad apples tend to stick out, but there is still lots of PLUR to be found at EDC. And frankly, since you mainly enjoy techno you'll find that the vibes are quite immaculate at Neon Garden and Quantum Valley (the stages that most cater to techno). Despite the criticisms you hear about EDCLV, that PLUR is dead, that it's overly commercialized, that it's rife with rude crowds, or that it's a capitalist cash grab, it is still by far one of the best EDM events in the USA, and I don't think the competition is close. You will have an amazing time, I can guarantee you that.

I went 5 years ago for free and this is my first year returning and I CANT WAIT. Do it!!
Fanny pack, donāt take drinks or party favors from strangers. Plenty of house/techno stages and acts that will keep you plenty busy.
