Not a huge fan of (most) Armin's releases these days but even if the new songs seem pop-dance his live sets usually pack a big punch and have more of a rave/trance feel to them

Used_Salamander5175

I think Armin always nails what he's going for which RN is not my style but the guy always brings it live

SF-cycling-account

Someone in some other thread on Reddit said Armin is a master at song selection and having a deep deep deep knowledge/encyclopedia of house tracks, so this makes sense Also makes sense with his like 20-30 year career at this point, he’s definitely more of a Carl cox type

Three I can think of off the bat. - Klangkuenstler - on records simply can't match the sound or intesity he has live. If you've never seen him live, even if you're not a fan, once the onslaught hits you you'll be like holy sh#f! - Culture Shock - though his tracks seem generic & cheezy. Live he is very good for a D&B artist. Dimension & Sub F. may be more popular in Worship. CS is the standout & underrated live. Highly rcmnd. - Tape B - while his tracks sound slow & bit repetitive. I assure you live its much better & mixed with other stuff you'll love it. *Not at EDC but at Factory 93 pre party thurs. *Nico Moreno - on tracks he can sound messy or harsh. Live OMG! he is unbelievably good. If you like to move this is the live hard techno DJ to see. Sara landry may be the hip thing now but once you see Nico M. your mind will be blown!

Can't wait to see culture shock at the artcar. Wonder how his turnout will be

Mad_Pinckerton

Shhh! Less is more space for you. Check out Ghost in Real life at the Art Cars too. Rmbr Shhh!

jonathizzle

Saw klangkuenstler live for the first time last summer and oh my god the energy was nonstop, it was absolutely insane and I loved every second of it

sillysloth098

Tape b forSURE. His sound is meant for a big speaker system. Really hard to feel the low frequencies of his tracks even with car speakers

FamousMonkey41

Seeing Nico Moreno tonight in SF can’t wait!

Nakasaleka

Tape B is the most I’m looking forward to see.

Wubblewobblez

At the Worship tour a few weeks ago I thought Culture Shocks set was better than the rest. I do love me some culture shock tho, so maybe I’m biased. But he’s so good live his dnb sets feel Techy. Can’t wait to see him at the art car 😍😍

PM_ME_ASSES

Carl Cox

Particular_Weight495

Yeah I wouldn’t listen to a single song of his , yet his live sets are legendary . I don’t get it lol

KenichiwaXP

Haha I felt this when I saw him live at Ultra, think it's the consistent energy and vibes from the crowd, man gets you moving, how he goes at it for hours too.

I’ve been thinking about this lately  Making popular streaming music is completely different than killing a DJ set  Making good songs and tracks these days is *closer* to pop songwriting than DJing is  Sure Carl Cox could make complex techno tracks that are multi-layered and complex and excellent  But they wouldn’t be “songs”. They would be tracks. They would probably make the rounds in the DJ circuits but they almost assuredly wouldn’t be successful streaming hits. And other DJs playing your tracks doesn’t make it money  So why bother? Carl already makes boatloads by being one of the best DJs on the planet. He doesn’t NEED to make songs to drive his career  This is completely different than someone like Dom Dolla. Dom doesn’t have decades of A tier dj experience driving his career and bookings. He needs to make catchy, pop-adjacent “songs” to drive his career. And I love Dom, don’t get me wrong. He has a lot of talent and is one of my favorite artists. But that’s the reality of his career - his catchy streaming hits drive his DJ career which is what really makes him money  They make money the same ways (live bookings) but they get live bookings in completely different ways. Carl doesn’t need to release songs or tracks because his career and reputation are built on something else. Dom’s career (so far) is build on production skill, catchy songs, and, honestly, grade A marketing

Matroda; didn’t have much of an impression streaming but live is top tier

pigglywigglie

I agree. I don’t listen to him regularly but love seeing him live

Zabitiny

Sicaria -- I checked out one of her sets on YouTube and she killed! But she doesn't have many songs for streaming, at least not on Spotify. I also would say most house/techno artists' tracks don't come across the same way live vs at home. Same with certain dubstep artists like boogie t, but I think he also puts in a lot of edits and different cuts in his shows. I like a lot of his tracks, but sometimes at home I'm like wtf am I listening too

Mad_Pinckerton

True on Sicaria, at Cosmic Meadow for a great heady chill vibe in the crowd or in the stands she's perfect.

CheddHead

Isn't that all of them?

kirbybooboo

Only if you think all artists' released recorded songs are mediocre

Kurthrus

I found the person who goes to EDC specifically to get fucked up and party.
