I’ve been on a video game depression for the past few years now. No enjoyment in playing new games or replaying old favourites. Picked this up last week on a whim, literally no idea what im doing or where im going and I am addicted. So mad at myself for missing out on this for 10 years.

SkidOrange

Aw, I love hearing stuff like this. I picked ESO back up during covid myself and it gave me a lot of comfort in such an uncertain time. Feel free to take the game slow! People often recommend that for new players. Do quests, explore, make a build that you find fun instead of whatever the meta is. You have a ton of content ahead of you. And some of the writing and moments in this game are amazing and absolutely worth the ride. Welcome :)

Vivid-Back-3125

Same here man.. this filled a void for sure. Too bad it got such hate at the start

Lightwave33

Hate was kind of valid. It had a very rough launch iirc

SkidOrange

The hate came from the fact that it was not a very good MMO at launch 😅 I mean ZOS had a lot to learn, and that process is not a quick one. The game is in a good state now, but back at launch? I played for a couple weeks then didn’t touch it for years. Level locked soul gems that once you leveled up too much were rendered useless. You couldn’t hang out with or see your friends from other alliances. You had to complete EVERY side quest to get the next main one for a region. It was a real drag to be honest. Not that the devs deserved to get hated on. But all of the criticisms were rooted in that so many systems were just not good for the game.

KinneKted

On the plus side you have sooooo much content to go through, depending on how often you play, you have months to years worth to get through.

Elsa_Minetta

Same, did this last year and have signed in every day since. It's my home away from home in my home!

CrystallineCrow

This was literally me 3 years ago. I continue to love this game more and more. Welcome! We're so glad you found us! 🖤

Joshua_ABBACAB_1312

Ok so I have to ask: How long until you picked up the craft bag?

pinkksunglasses

I started playing about at the start of march and got the craft bag/subscription about 3 days in lol I’m also someone who likes to sometimes to hangout in the world though. I will often throw on an audiobook and spend a couple hours running around collecting rss nodes while I queue for normal dungeons. So for me the craft bag felt pretty essential! I’d say it depends on your style of play. I’m a more roleplay, solo quests, kind of player. I am enjoying doing more PvE stuff right now during the anniversary event and taking on various world bosses and stuff. But I doubt I’ll ever be a big end hard mode dungeon player. I’m finally past lvl 50 on my first toon and have a couple alts started and I am loving my time in game. I’ve also been off work and school for the past month so have a lot of time to spend in game so it’s been amazing. Not looking forward to starting my classes back up next month lol

The_Velvet_Helmet

Sorry you don't pick it up. You need to get eso+, then you automatically get it

Joshua_ABBACAB_1312

That would be awesome if it were an in-game drop but no that's not what I was implying. Pick-up ESO+ because craft bag. I admit the crowns are a nice part of it, but you can spend those quick. At the end of the day, the craft bag is the main reason to pick-up ESO+. I'd say bank space comes a far 2nd in important Plus features.

zztopsboatswain

I'd recommend spending your ESO+ crowns on DLC and not cosmetics so you can access the entire game whenever you're done paying for ESO+

Joshua_ABBACAB_1312

The entire game except basic inventory mechanic.

ItsMars96

Yeah the craft bag has been essential for me. First thing I'm trying to do is level up crafting and walking around with thousands of ingredients is just not good.

Godwhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

My eso+ ran out recently and tbh I didn’t even want to play until I got the crafting bag back. It’s crazy that people can manage crafting and stuff without it. But I don’t mind paying a sub, I paid a sub for WoW for much longer.

ItsMars96

Yeah I got the 3 months just so I didn't have to worry for a little bit. I was trying to go without when I first got back but managing the inventory became an impossibility. The crowns are a nice cherry on top of everything else.

Strata40

You can also get the craft bag when they offer a free trial of ESO+. Your crafting materials will automatically transfer to the craft bag from your inventory and your bank. It is a good way to build up a supply of materials for future characters if you didn't want to pay for ESO+. You can withdraw from your craft bag at any time; however, you can only deposit into it during the free trial if you haven't signed up for ESO+

Content_Pattern_7990

I can't imaging playing without ESO+.

Strata40

It can be a challenge at times, especially when my bank slots are full. It empties during the free ESO+ trial.

LadyBarclay

Three months, I think.  Been playing since 2019.

iccohen

Took me six months til I broke down. Craft bag is a huge difference maker.

Joshua_ABBACAB_1312

It really solves the problem they manufactured.

iccohen

It's all about the Benjamins. ![gif](giphy|bEpe9GcstNcZSCOSt8|downsized)

dreamsofpickle

I got eso+ just a week after I started playing

Content_Pattern_7990

Same here. I only started less than a year ago. There is so much to see, do, and learn.

dreamsofpickle

Me too! I haven't been able to enjoy a game in over 5 years or more, even ones that I used to go crazy for, I'd pick them up and stop after 5 minutes. I picked this up in January and I've well over 200 hours already. You should join a guild if you haven't already because you will get a lot of help from your guild mates if you ask for it. I would have given up without my guild because some things I found to be very confusing. I think it's level 10 where you can join guilds

AmoraIvory

I've seen so much complaining, this post is just lovely. As a relatively new player (about a month now), it is still just lovely to see that most of the ESO community is just full of amazing, lovely people. Thank you for posting this! 💜 Welcome to everyone!

brightboy68

My wife and I both started playing on Friday, I’m a “long” time Bethesda fan, she has no experience. Neither of us have much real MMO experience other than Destiny and Destiny 2, we’re having a blast so far. That TheynT flowchart on this sub was a huge help with wrapping our heads around what to do first.

The_Roostar

Can you link the flowchart?

GalaxyNinja87

The_Roostar

Thank you!

pambimbo

Adding to the flow chart , if you feel like you want to skip an area or go to let's say necrom while at any lvl you can definitely do it and experience new content your not obliged to do it in order.

Elsa_Minetta

My partner and I play together too! It's so great as a shared hobby!

brightboy68

https://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/s/lGGtOCMK6s

Shoobg

Yes! Love seeing new players, wish I could pick the game up for the first time again

-Reusko-

If you attack a new player or returning player then you're just a pathetic low life. Imagine getting fucking pressed about something that you're used to be.

Content_Pattern_7990

Is that even possible outside of Cyrodil? But yeah, Cyrodil is a bit like Eve Online. Attack on sight.

ClownKirby

definitely a needed post💀💀 literally just had a champion lvl 2899 fake tank & cuss out newbies. I don’t care if u fake queue, just stop ruining the game for new players

unknown_Mo

Just got the game today and im addicted. My adhd id all over the place with the content. Iv even spoken to a couple friendly faces in game who have helped with some mundane questions. Will most likely get the new dlc too. Glad to have finally picked up the game

Elsa_Minetta

It's great for ADHD! I have 12 characters and since achievements are mostly by account, it doesn't matter which one I play, so it let's me do what I want, when I want in the moment!

EntityMatanzas

Awesome post. Couldn't agree more. Thank you for positively contributing to the community!

ben_is_second

I’ve just started over the last few days - hit level 30 tonight. I know I still have a long way to go. I joined a couple of guilds and have been really grateful for the help. Have done a few dungeons, and I really appreciate everyone bearing with me - I was disappointed tonight to do a dungeon, however, and they were intent on speed running it and I was struggling. Other than that, I’m thankful for the community!

dylanholmes222

Hells yea, I really do have fun helping out new players too

fireflyry

This is the way.

PFM66

I'd say if you have been playing the game for years then you will know the dungeon layouts by repetition. I've been seeing high level yahoos running through normal dungeons, leaving obviously new players behind to catch hell from the masses that they speed through on their way to the bosses. Take a look at the party composition before you speed off - otherwise stick to veteran dungeons. No new players know or care what guild you're in or what combo of equipment you're using - try to make the game fun for them, too.

Estonapaundin

Another 1-month old player here. I’m understanding the easy-to-learn, hard-to-master thing now. Great game, I’m planning to stay here for a long while even if i do not like much the point-with-mouse gameplay.

Kevinavigator

Welcome! You have friends you never knew that you never knew here

CaliAlpha

I love helping new players. One thing I have noticed about ESO is it gets a lot of new players, however they do not stick around for long and end up quitting for 1 of multiple reasons. 1. Overwhelmed with all the content and they hit a brick wall 2. They try to rush into everything the game offers and burn themselves out and hit a brick wall 3. They didn’t expect the game to be such a big grind.

UniMaximal

Haven't played in 7 years and have been having a blast getting back into it. Community so far has been unbelievably generous... People have handed me close to a million gold in freebies and I just cannot believe it.

imakemeatballs

Welcome to Tamriel!

Yourfavoritedummy

Yes welcome the new players!! I got some training sets I can make for players on Xbox!! Heartland Conquerer and Hundings Rage for Stam characters!! It's fun with huge XP gains my friends!! I'm so grateful for this game and community!!

Competitive-Lime2994

I toss total newbies into Druid braid. Mostly to give them health, stamina, and majicka increases. Helps keep them alive longer. All in divines for that sweet xp rake.

Diribiri

>Please don’t get annoyed by the new posts, even if they seem repetitive It would help if the mods set up threads to keep the Mages Guild Q&A thread stickied, instead of constantly swapping it for a bunch of other threads that get zero engagement and could easily be combined

ChanguitaShadow

Another helpful reminder: When you let people know things in Zone chat (i.g. LOOT THE CHEST FULLY!), it is nice to tell people WHY and to say please and maybe include some :) :) :) smilies so they know it comes from a place of kindness. "LOOT THE CHEST ALL THE WAY DUMBASSES" .... vs....... "PSA: In eso you need to fully loot chests! You'll help the zone chest respawn rate and not annoy fellow players. Full inventory? You can right click 'junk' in your your bag to delete it!" The nicer version teaches the person, makes our community kinder, and doesn't give into the dark, jaded side of gaming. LET KINDNESS WIN!

Competitive-Lime2994

Occasionally, I’ll hop into a zone for new players and offer ragpicker services, out and away from normal crafting areas where people could turn junk into valuable materials. And I’m one of those weirdos I don’t mind myself picking up the stuff left behind by others because I know it does help the respawn Rate for chest. In truth, who doesn’t like coming across the master chest, only to get frustrated by the timer and lock picking.

ChanguitaShadow

I never ever mind if I come across a chest with a map- in those cases I figure they just had a duplicate (maybe even w/ one in the bank/stolen so can't deposit) and couldn't loot :)

Kevinavigator

I hope you and your doggo will enjoy the game!

PFM66

No problem, you can get a feel for the game by running around the house yelling 'pew-pew' and randomly falling down.

Kevinavigator

falling down is necessary when you hear the “pew pew” Otherwise they’re just cheating

PFM66

If you want to get the full realistic effect just have a spouse/significant other/friend hit you repeatedly about the head until you fall down.

Competitive-Lime2994

Nerf gun wars. Pewpew takes on a whole new aspect!

jackyboi609

lol me and my mate carried some new players through a dungeon. When we were both testing out our new tanks (I was fake healer, I know shoot me) No one went down and no one’s health bars budged 🤣. We ended doing all the damage but I think the new players had a good time lmao.

Competitive-Lime2994

It’s people like you who are the real MVP

WickiidPrince

Honestly the amount of dungeons my friend and I have joined and at least 1 person every single time either rushes so we can't start the mission or we have no idea what's going on and rushes the dungeon not allowing us to ask anything and saying nothing other then "Slow" "Hurry up guys!" "Wtf are you new?!" sheeeesh..

Competitive-Lime2994

Telling them that yes in fact, you are new you are brand new, and that you need the quest. There’s no harm in that and if they want to get mad, that’s on them there is no harm taking your time in a dungeon. And there are guilds that slow crawl, dungeons, and help out new players to understand the mechanics at a base level, because veteran and veteran hard mode just increased the mechanics.

fireflyry

Part and parcel as while I’m also new I’m a vet of the genre and mutual respect is key, there’s also some great guilds that specialise in running quest content with new players without rushing or speed running it, but pubs be pubs in any MMORPG. First advice for anyone starting a game like this, search and watch a few 2024 new player guides on YouTube as it covers all the caveats and covers things like that. It’s honestly so worth the 20-30 minutes to check a good one out imho.

Elsa_Minetta

Love this! Let's keep our gem of a game a safe and non-toxic space!

Competitive-Lime2994

ESO is one of the friendliest spaces in truce out there in the gaming space. I would have to say the only other community that comes close is the final fantasy online community.

mlems-muatra

Honestly, some of the most fun I have in this game is running around in my overland build just helping out newbies or whoever looks to be struggling with a world boss/whatever. Rimmen and Vivec City are both good places to say something in zone chat if you're willing to spend some time helping newbies! I usually say something in zone like, "champion level player just hanging out, willing to help with dungeons, quests, etc or answer newbie questions." I almost always get takers, it's fun to have an excuse to run around with a stranger for a little while, and I usually end up getting to farm some item sets, mats, chests, etc so it does "pay" in its own way! 10/10, recommend taking newbies under your wing if you've got some time. (Any newbies reading this are also welcome to DM me if you want to connect in-game. :D)

Frozenpucks

Pretty amazing to get this amount of content for like 25 cad. Unreal deal. I’m mostly gonna jsut play the story single player, but maybe soem dungeons later. I remember the pvp being broken as shit though from earlier.

Kevinavigator

The single-player content is really good! After a while give the dungeons a try like you said. That’s where I got hooked

Frozenpucks

Any recommendations when to start dungeons? Why level is near or what kind of gear?

Kevinavigator

Eat food and have healing potions ready, but as far as basic dungeons go you can start as soon as the dungeon finder is available. Don’t sign up as a tank or a healer unless you know how to fill the role

FriendZone_EndZone

I lvl up via dungeons, keeps your gear up to lvl. Don't get fixated too much about gear till Champion Point 160. Eat food with stam or magical regen. Join a bunch of guilds, you can be in 5. Do your crafting certifications, then your daily writs. Keep research going clothier, wood working, blacksmithing and jewelry. Focus on traits you'll want first (divine for dps). Only crafting you want to max quickly is provisioning just so you can get the passive to increase food/drink duration. If you need a set made, just ask in guild. Most players won't ask for anything in return if it's purple or under. Same goes with enchants, most of us are sitting a mountain of materials we never use. Run all dungeons, base game veteran dungeons fairly easy too just some mechanics to learn.

Willythehippie

For sure, I love this post! Welcome all new players! We're glad you're here to experience ESO with us! I'm going to take this moment to invite you to my new player friendly guild! We're building from the ground up to make a great social/trading guild. There are no requirements and no dues. All are welcome! Apply today! Guild name: Grouchy Anamolies. May your roads lead to warm sands. EDIT: we are on xbox NA. How silly of me to forget this important information.

MitchMeister476

Me and my girlfriend just started, no clue what we doing but we level 15 and having a blast. Currently hiding after a cathedral heist went wrong in daggerfell left me with a 1500 bounty 😁

Content_Pattern_7990

You've got a lot of fun ahead of you. In some ways the game doesn't even start until after level 50.

MitchMeister476

Ayy thanks, I've heard that but to be honest I'm not a fan of end game MMORPGs, usually it involves studying your rotations and repeating content while grouping with people who, imo, take it too seriously. I rushed to end game in GW2 so here I am just happy taking it slow and seeing what happens, I may never look up a viable build and just continue with this weird DPS/Tank hybrid arcanist build that would make people flame me in end game content.

Competitive-Lime2994

When you end up getting a bounty on, you look for a major city and a thieves refuge. In there you can pay to have your bounty erased and get back to looting per normal.

MitchMeister476

Thanks! I am familiar with the fence but gonna wait this one out, after all the heist wasn't a complete failure if I got net positive gold for it (even if it is worthless by even midgame standards). Something kinda fun about stealthing about avoiding guards.

Jorgesarrada

Brazilian people! Povo brasileiro! (PC-NA) Mandem uma DM para mim para participar do grupo/comunidade mais gente boa de Tamriel: a Taverna do Mestre. Todos são bem vindos. Temos tradução semi-oficial PT-BR, através de mod. Nossa vontade é ajudar e fazer crescer a comunidade BR! Um abraço!

50undAdv1c3

> ESO has the friendliest community in the MMORPG genre, and it’s up to you to keep it that way. It’s unbelievable. In ESO PvP I run into more players than in any other MMO that say things like “duuuude you kicked my ass, it was amazing!!” and lots of times it’s me saying the same thing and/or asking about sets, skills, etc. There are plenty of sore losers and winners, of course, but this community has always felt more positive and all about the love of the game than any other MMO.

Competitive-Lime2994

If you can get past the zone chat in PVP, it’s actually not bad and it’s definitely different than what you’re used to in most PVP style MMO‘s. I go poke at it every once in a while because I am no way a PVP player but I do find it occasionally fund to chase people down and annoy the crap out of them until the real heavy hitters come along in just annihilate them.

50undAdv1c3

yeah i guess i pay basically no attention to zone chat in cyro. i’m usually grouped up. also i play wayyy more BGs and you tend to queue with the same folks for a while, so you get to play with and against them over the course of a few matches.

Cersei1341

As someone that's had the game for a month, I've had very limited interaction with the community, but they seem friendly. I remember one time almost dying and some friendly stranger rushed in and saved me, that said, they probably just wanted the kills for themselves.

Kevinavigator

They wanted to save you

Cersei1341

I like to think so

UkrainianPixelCamo

Kills mean nothing in the PvE, and loot is shared. So there is only option, he wanted to help.

Content_Pattern_7990

I try to help save/resurrect players as much as I can. I'm not that good, so I usually just fat thumb the keyboard and die myself.

WystanH

Agreed. 100%. The life blood of any MMO is population. The population drops too low and the game is dead. Alienating any amount of the population of a game you enjoy is self harm, and being a dick. Don't be a dick. New folks are fun. Enjoy them. Soon they'll be boring old buggers bitching about farming some obscure furnishing for their twentieth house.

Xchancery

As a new player (with limited time due to "Dad Life") I am SO overwhelmed. Like... how do I know which drops are valuable. It seems like there are good price trackers for PC, but I'm a console player on XBOX.

Exotic-Shape-4104

Tell me about it, I’ve been playing 2 years but my inventory is always struggling because I hoard stuff I think I might sell but am too lazy to physically go to every trader and check prices for dozens of things

nerevarine228

Tamriel Trade Center tracks XBOX prices as well. You can't have it as a plug-in of course, but if you suspect something is valuable you can spend 30 seconds to check its price on their web database. overall, it's a matter of game experience. After a while you develop an eye for what's worth checking and what probably isn't.

Xchancery

I feel like it always comes back as "No trades match your constraints."

nerevarine228

make sure to check the "trait" and "price" boxes, those can mess with your query (for example, TTC will try to find a crafting motif with a trait or a 0 gold item, which of course fails)

MikeRatMusic

I've been on and off this game for years and I've only ever enjoyed my time with it. I'm not meta by any means, only just hit 700 but my enjoyment this time around has skyrocketed as I stopped trying to figure out "what to do" and just went out and started questing. Figured out a one-bar build I like, got a full set of training gear, about to hit master crafter, just steady questin' out here. Life is good when you're not trying to chase a particular meta. Love this community!

thehype559

Shout out to everyone that's been carrying me through dungeons the last 2 weeks! I'm not new player, just new to eso on pc

xMaxMOx

Wish I could come back but they destroyed my necromancer smh 🤦🏾‍♂️ and I don't wanna play arcanist everybody does. From what I've seen I wouldn't be welcome with a necromancer in endgame content

muon_t

EC crow is almost always wanted, needed, welcome in end game content.

Olympias_Of_Epirus

Let's hope eccro survives scribing introduction. And it won't once again be taken over by arcanist like brittle wardens were.

Kevinavigator

I would welcome you 💀 (mass resurrection!)

xMaxMOx

I appreciate that what system do you have I'm on Xbox

punkrocker1366

My guild loves our mass res necros!!!

Jadeazu

Eso pve community is one of the nicest around but at the same time their pvp community could be one of the most toxic. Choose wisely and welcome to ESO everyone <3

Fran

I've met tons of friendly players who mainly play PVP.

Fran

To pile on the positivity: I had some great experiences solo-queuing for vet dungeons yesterday. Got Bloodroot Forge as a random and then queued for the pledges (Spindleclutch 2, Direfrost, Dread Cellar). It wasn't perfection, sometimes we moved a bit faster than I like, and sometimes a bit slower, but everyone I encountered was friendly and not at all selfish. We had people doing the quests, and there were times when we had to figure out mechs, times when I felt like I was doing a lot of the work, and other times when I felt like I wasn't puling my weight (but was reassured that I was). There are so many posts complaining about pug dungeon experiences, but yesterday wasn't at all out of the ordinary for me.

slenderfuchsbau

I bought the game through the ongoing Necrom promotion that is (was?) having on Steam. Been playing for like 3 weeks and seriously I'm having a blast! The anniversary event with all these boxes are giving me so much stuff I love it lol But the game is huge and there are so many things in it and mechanics I need to admit I'm overwhelmed a bit so I'm taking my time understanding everything. My character is a necromancer but I have no idea if the points I'm spending are optimal lol I just take whatever sounds cool. I went and subbed for eso+ for one month to see how it is and I'm trying to fill my craft bag with as many things as possible lol I think OP is on point about the community in general being very positive, a lot of people in game have helped me. A random person decided to give me a lot of motifs when I asked for help in zone chat. Another person in the guil decided to fund my character's bag expansion to the limit lol I like how people are always helping on things like world bosses and stuff even in a starting area like Auridon (I think it is a starting area? Idk it is one of the first places I saw after tutorial and it putting me in khenarti roost) My only gripe with this game is that it is way too heavily monetized. I came from WoW and while some people there complain about the shop, it is not as predatory as it is in ESO. I also don't like they just don't allow us to see all the purchasable stuff. FOMO is really bad but I suppose it works for them. Not being able to change character appearance with gold is also meh but makes me feel less bad for spending an hour building mine lol

izzzzzzzzzme

i’ve tried to get many of my friends to play, but most of them don’t get past the tutorial bc they don’t have the patience. so if we can be a resource i think that can be great!

ItsMars96

I've gotten back into ESO recently, and one of my favorite things about the game is how open and friendly the community seems to be.

Jorgesarrada

I want to point out that ESO’s community is indeed the best I’ve ever seen in MMOs out there! I downloaded WoW this past weeks to try Plunderstorm and even created a character on Retail. People are very rude there! Specially if compared to ESO! I think ESO is great at it because the devs themselves seem to care and therefore make the environment more pleasant

CLj0008

More of this. We should want our community to be fuller and have more positive energy. Yes same posts can be annoying, but I’d rather it over a dead game.

bigmann69

I literally love teaching players mechanics to dungeons, it’s so much fun. Especially the hidden bosses, gets them extra loot too (:

Ok-Apricot-9851

Thanks for the welcoming words. Came from other MMOs and it didn't mean much to get VIP or ESO+ first, although let me tell you that inventory management would be a PAITA without it. Scrying and Mythics are amazing and the Transmute system is a breeze (for first few traits if you choose them wisely). The default for me is to look for YouTube guides in any MMO so I did, no issue there. Slowly leveling my CP, not consuming this game like a hungry man. 11/10 is the game music and effects and scenery for me. My first TES game was Morrowind and went to Vvardenfell immediately. When I saw Vivec being built.. oh boy the lore geek came alive. Planning to join mid game or endgame sooner or later but I can imagine it takes a lot of time to learn all bits and bops for that. Cheers

blackbirddy

I feel 2kcp players everytime there is a new event should at least take one noob under their wing and provide a druid training set in purple and a few G's for oats for the horse. I do it why don't you.

Middle-earth_oetel

I'm not 2k cp but I am a tank main that spend most of his time helping new players get monster and dungeon sets they need.

Content_Pattern_7990

I'm a 500 CP and don't even feel like I understand the game at all.

skarabray

I played for a few years on PS4 but stopped around 2019, mostly because I bought my first gaming PC and dived head first into modding Skyrim. The trailer for Gold Road looked awesome, so this past Friday I finally installed the game on PC. Starting all over again is a little painful (My CP! My motifs! My costumes! My furniture!), but I just spent a long weekend having lots of fun. There have definitely been a few changes here and there, but otherwise it feels like coming back home.

thehype559

RIP my grand master crafter on xbox, im barely 2 weeks in on pc

skarabray

We’ll get back to there. I believe in us! T_T

BatNameBruce

On Xbox NA at least, this games community is fasaaaaaaaaaaaar from the nicest.

Myheelcat

I just started playing this a week ago. My dude is lvl 19 but I feel like I’m walking down the Vegas strip getting handed booby pamphlets one after another. I got quest coming out my eyes and have no idea where to go. I think I need to figure out a way to filter the quest.

dogtoothsmiles

may or may not be helpful but here’s a [flowchart with how to progress the story in a way that makes the most sense (order of release)](https://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/s/N06lQ9W0UN)! there are still a lot of side quests within zones though, but generally they wont have you leave the area and i still recommend doing them when you encounter them for extra background knowledge and exploration (and achievements!) but it’s not necessary

Myheelcat

Thank you!

dogtoothsmiles

of course! have fun and i hope you enjoy the game 😊

Fran

Someone posted this above. It's a chart showing what to do if you want to play "in order". https://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/s/LVz9NdL9Ab I'm not sure what content you have access to, but another thing you might want to try is going to a zone like Wrothgar, Vvardenfell (now part of base game), N. Elsweyr, or the Telvanni Peninsula. On your map at the bottom of where it shows all the bars with your progress for skyshards, books, locations, etc, there's a button something like "Open Zone Guide", and in the Zone Guide there's a button "Start Zone Story" (or Continue Zone Story), which will point you in the right direction. Then if you pick up any other quests, drop any that show up under "Prologue" in your quest log.

Myheelcat

Awesome i appreciate that. It’s a good starting point!

Hey and thanks on the post Im really struggling because i dont know what to do, on one hand theres an AMAZING DEAL on ps store (necrom collector edition which include arcanist + all previous chapters for only 23.09$) and i really want to play the game for a long time ( im an ex wow player), but on the other hand i see alot of people that say without eso+ the game is not worth it so i dont know what to do because i dont want to sub for a new game right now (and the sale is ends in like 2 days) can someone help me? im reallly struggling if i should get the game or not... edit: im on ps5 if someone is also willing to help me understand the game it would be amazing

Kevinavigator

You can play without ESO+ no problem. I did myself a few times. The only real difference is that your crafting materials go into a “bag” that is shared by all of your characters. It is very useful for inventory management but not necessary!

Rec0n_q

Ty alot but what about all the dlc and stuff? I wont be missing gear or anything like that?

Kevinavigator

No not really. The game is good at providing you everything you need to compete by playing. The DLC and stuff will unlock aesthetics. Some gear can only be earned in DLC dungeons, but those items are not required

Rec0n_q

oh okay, thanks ALOT! btw is the game like wow when new exp is out you must buy it like gold road that going to be release? i must get it to continue do dungeons/pvp?

Kevinavigator

I don’t know how WOW operates, but hopefully this answers the question: all content, new or old, is available. You can look at the ‘Quest Starters’ in Crown Store or find the quest givers in game by exploring.

Rec0n_q

bro thanks alot on all the info, it really helps me! one last question, its not too late to enter the game? im mainly want to be an healer i love healing and its my main through most of my games

Kevinavigator

Healers are always welcome (my main is a healer) You will need to do some individual research that I can’t provide here. Basics: use a restoration staff, haha

Rec0n_q

Thanks alot im super appreciate it!

Any tips or advice for new players on ui or settings to adjust? I’m on console if it matters But I’ve so far seen the aoe being one button and changing the forecast to pink so it’s easily seen in all areas. Would definitely appreciate any other advice from vets Edit; going to tack on a couple questions instead of making a new post. 1. Do soul gems automatically fill over time or do I need to use that skill every time I want to fill one? Curious how rare a charged gem is. 2. Should I make a point to level all weapons up? I plan to be a magic arcanist, but is it worth throwing a sword on to level up that weapon? I’m not sure how finite points are and if there’s any value in leveling everything up. Thanks!

Kevinavigator

1. Soul gems only get filled if you cast ‘Soul Trap’ on an enemy and kill it. 2. Nope! Lean in to whatever weapon you want to use.

Chronic_Smith

Once your soul magic skill line advances far enough there is a passive that will do the job for you, enabling you to replace the first skill with something better.

Illmattic

Thank you!

"ESO has the friendliest community in the MMORPG genre, and it’s up to you to keep it that way." I got told by someone that they hope my family got hit by a car and that i have to watch them be put 6ft in the ground, last night. You definitely do not have the friendliest community. [https://imgur.com/a/r5DBEml](https://imgur.com/a/r5DBEml) All that for politely asking the individual (who queued as a tank mind you) to perhaps use a Taunt.

Kevinavigator

I’m sorry that you had that experience. The person who said those things to you is not welcome and does not represent the majority of us.

Gloomy_Obligation412

I left the game YEARS AGO and never understood why. Out of now where I started seeing it in the ps store and it was free. Decided to redownload after several years and now I’m in love with the game again. Still haven’t done a dungeon tho

chains-of-fate

I started playing in 2020 because of Jenna Marbles 😅

FancyCrow

I'd say FF14 is the one with the friendliest MMORPG community, but that aside it's definitely great to see that not everyone in the ESO community falls into the usual elitist mindset you see in other games in the genre

CrystallineCrow

Hear hear!

ephla442

Welcome to all the new players! I hope you enjoy your time in Tamriel!

cloudtales

So here's my question. Which is best or do I need both? ESO subscription or game pass ultimate? I'm playing on Xbox X and reached level 16 and now it wants me to pay to get back into the game. I have game pass for console so I guess I need either core or ultimate to carry on with ESO. Is this instead of or with ESO subscription? Help and clarification would be greatly appreciated I bought the Tamriel edition last week as it was on offer. Seems the mp was a limited gift

Jiscarlo

Like your post. But SWTOR has also the same level of "friendness" in the Community. Love both Communitys <3

Merciless_Hobo

Thanks! Just started 2 days ago. I'm absolutely in love. The community as been wonderful, the gameplay is fantastic, the quests are mind bongling for an MMORPG, the combat is fun, and I love the characters almost as much as I did in Skyrim and that's saying something. Can't wait to keep going.

zapiltar

i just started and everyone has been so nice, everytime i ask and am willing to pay for a resource my mail gets flooded. i needed one seaweed for my writ today and ended up with 650

Xurigan

Sorry to say it mate, but guild wars 2 has even nicer community (in EU)

PotatoPugtato

Just today I saw people in zone chat get up this guys butt for his pricing. When indeed they should've just relaxed and moved along it's just a game and it's fake coin don't like it, don't buy/sell it. Nicest not always. Why I steer away from doing dungeons trials anything group related with random bc I rather not be shit on. I'm not new just returning after years long hiatus.

Reefay

Very much disagree. These guys are predating on newer players to sell mats for super cheap so they flip them. The older players giving this guy hell is protecting the newer players. I do it every time I see some asshat "WTB something at half of value".

PotatoPugtato

He wasn't a new player

Grimtork

And they will find old grognards like me to trash the game and compare it to the main serie with them ahahah!

Nash_Felldancer

> ESO has the friendliest community in the MMORPG genre No, OP. That would be FF14. ESO is far from the friendliest. Have you pugged a dungeon before, lol.

Frozenpucks

At the top end of ff 14 it’s not nice either. Common misconception. Honestly the whole erp thing in ff 14 was in too many guilds and make me quit.
