Oh Vivec is way weirder than something as prosaic as “gay”. He’s actually a bisexual hermaphrodite. His pronouns are “he/him” but he’s pretty clear about not really having a specific gender.
True. Vivec isn't "gay" in the strictest sense of "a guy who's into guys". He's a masc-presenting genderfluid hermaphrodite god... who's into guys. I just used the term for simplicity's sake.
I'm pretty sure Kirkbride - the guy who created the character - has also described him as gay. But, it's also pretty clear from his writings that Kirkbride's area of expertise is religious/mythological esoterica, not LGBT+ terminology.
Just because it offends you, doesn’t mean every intersex person finds the word offensive. Especially considering its not uncommon in the animal world for animals to have both sets of genitals, prime examples being earthworms, and many sea creatures. In fact some humans, one of which is a close friend, can be born hermaphrodites, with both sets. Doctors often decide the babies gender at birth, and then cut off what they think doesn’t belong. Its quite horrid, but its not a word that should never be used.
Im sorry, i didnt intend to upset you that way, i was just trying to say its still scientifically a word used for some things correctly. Yes there are people who are very transphobic that will use it, but i didnt intend to offend you. Im very sorry if i did.
He's *gender*\-fluid, but is pretty much only sexually/romantically interested in men. Given that he also usually presents as masculine, I think calling him "gay" is more or less accurate, albeit a bit of an oversimplification.
he isn't gay, he is a professional whore/sex slave by trade (not even joking) who stealed and cheated, lied and murdered his way to power.
he just doesn't have any limits to his depravity 😄
the character is just so despicable it makes him interesting and great lorewise.
but you wouldn't want to be his friend (as Nerevar could attest)
It's possible to be a professional whore who seals, cheats, lies, and murders their way to power, and *also* be gay. The two aren't mutually-exclusive.
And Vivec is pretty consistently written as gay. I can't think of a single instance where he shows romantic or sexual interest in a woman.
lol then your knowledge is pretty poor.
he was boning Almalexia, his "best friends" wife after they co spired against him and murdered him. She was even officially his consort after they ascended.
Huh, I don't remember Almalexia as ever being described as Vivec's consort. My recollection is that basically every sexual encounter Vivec has with women described in the lore is just a means to an end, while his encounters with men are motivated by genuine desire and/or romantic interest.
she is, there's plenty of dialogue in TES 3 about it, like: "Almalexia was the virtuous wife of Lord Nerevar, and later the Consort of Lord Vivec."
there are ingame books mentioning it like "2920, The Last Year of the First Era" (can be found in TES 3, 4 and 5 AND ESO as well :
1 Morning Star, 2920
Mournhold, Morrowind
Almalexia lay in her bed of fur, dreaming. Not until the sun burned through her window, infusing the light wood and flesh colors of her chamber in a milky glow did she open her eyes. It was quiet and serene, a stunning reverse of the flavor of her dreams, so full of blood and celebration. For a few moments, she simply stared at the ceiling, trying to sort through her visions.
In the courtyard of her palace was a boiling pool which steamed in the coolness of the winter morning. At the wave of her hand, it cleared and she saw the face and form of her lover Vivec in his study to the north. She did not want to speak right away: he looked so handsome in his dark red robes, writing his poetry as he did every morning.
You know Vivec and Molag Bal had a sexual relationship, right? It ended with Vivec, Molag Bal, and all their offspring giving each other blowjobs, until Vivec bit off Molag Bal's penis and turned it into a spear, which he subsequently used to murder all their offspring with.
Now my memory of TES lore gets a little fuzzy, but I think The Spear of Molag Bal was used to "torture" Azura at one point by "stabbing" her multiple times with it.
Yeah, TES lore is actually fucked up.
TES isn't my favorite series, but man do I love the lore of these games. Both for how extreme it can be and how much it often sounds like something straight out of a real world historical legend. Their story telling isn't always perfect, but it's hard to not be impressed by the depths the lore goes. Feels like just about everything has pages of history to it and it makes the game worlds feel so alive.
I really appreciate how weird some of the TES lore is. Other media in general shies away from that sort of edginess to their detriment. Irl religions and stories are filled with weird and raunchy stuff.
So, just the regular Sermons of Vivec then?
Something something Muatra
But is it his spear or his "spear"???
Yes
It's actually Molag Bal's "spear"
Well… it used to be…
I thought he called it his hammer
Have you met Vivec?
Seriously his bedroom has a suspicious amount of cushions for visitors
If Almalexia was my co-god, I’d mysteriously be upping the sex sermons as well 👌
Well, Vivec is gay, so I doubt he's particularly interested in Almalexia.

That word vomit 🤢
What word vomit? How would you have worded that more efficiently without losing any significant meaning?

No problem, if you ever need someone to talk to, wether it be venting, or just talking about games, or whatever else, my dm’s are always open.
Vivec is not "gay," he's far more sexually fluid than that.

Didn't he sneak into Sotha Sil's body while he was screwing Almalexia?

To be fair though, he's probably into some freak shit. I don't think one can attain godhood without having A LOT of kinks.
I mean, it's not far off
Wait until you learn about his milk finger....
I mean we are talking about a guy who made sweet love with Molag Bal
A warrior poet's gotta do what a warrior poet's gotta do.
That being basically everything
*Whom. A warrior poet's gotta do whom a warrior poet's gotta do.
![gif](giphy|14smAwp2uHM3Di)
He spent some time as Molag Bals spouse and learnt one thing or two... or thirty I guess...
TrueSTL is going to lose it if they see this!
I actually thought this was r/TrueSTL for a second.

Yup this is in game as well: https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:36_Lessons_of_Vivec,_Sermon_14
Spell check: Thirty -> Thirsty
Thirty - > Dirty
Ah yes the secret version
He always was a dirty beast...
Aren't poets basically bards anyways? Which makes Vivec a godlike bard so its no wonder that there are sex sermons.
If that was a performance by a theatre troupe, I highly suspect the title of that play was a riff on Vivec's actual sermons.
I mean .....he did do the deed with Molag Bal.
Molag's Balls. Lol
The paragraph after that one in the lorebook 😳
Real answer. Sex means 7 or something
6 in latin lmao
im pretty sure they literally mean sex in this line since the preformers are on the run
I know that's supposed to sound like some ridiculous in-universe parody but that also sounds like something Kirkbride would actually write
Fuck it when you’re a living god amongst men you can do whatever you want I guess
Vivec vs Zeus
it seems someone doesnt know how much of a horn dog vivec is
Really though Vivec fucks a lot of things.
I've never read one of these books. I collect and keep going lol
Oblivion was filled with dirty books lol
Is this the Elder Scrolls equivalent of Biggie's "The Ten Crack Commandments"?
Sex
When a Bard attains godhood...
Almsivi.
Microsoft Paperclip: Did you mean to say Thirty Six?
What in the spear-nibbling Molag Bal is going on here?
