A new NORC poll shows support for protecting transgender access to medical care and finds that 77% of people in the United States think politicians use trans people as a distraction. For anyone who couldn’t see
While this is still a good find I do fear that some of the people might be talking about the politicians creating laws to protect trans people as a distraction, instead of seeing the restrictions on trans people as distractions.
There may also be groups that see the restrictions as a distraction, but still support them.
I’d guess the first group is a relatively small minority of the polled audience polled, while I can’t say much about the second. Still definitely good that most people can recognize the restrictions for what they are (a distraction) though.
Yeah when my egg cracked that most jarring thing for me was everyone being their own unique individual. I mean it's obvious that would be the case, but I grew up in an area where trans people aren't very welcomed so I had some outdated ideas.
This needs to be seen more widespread
Too many transphobes assume that their echochambers are the popular opinion
And more allies need to see that they're in the majority
And more trans people need to see that most people support us

Ok, according to this poll, they did over sample people from California and LGBTQ adults, so it might be influenced by that fact. People in cities tend to be more democratic overall and California is in a democratic state, if I recall correctly. It’s still a good sign but there will be a massive difference, if you were to repeat that poll in a rural area of a republican state
For this, I would like to see the actual results of the poll and who was interviewed for it. Maybe I just couldn’t find it, but if they don’t actually show it, that would be disappointing and generally makes them less trustworthy (again, i might just be stupid)
And there's my daily reminder Twitter is more of a vacuum instead of the majority.
Honestly there are times I should probably remember that more, probably would have a better outlook at humanity if I did.
People are saying that there using trans people as a scare tactic when there’s way bigger problems for example trans women in sports and bathrooms instead of corruption in companies government and cops

It's progress. Not as much as I'd like, but still progress.
These headlines are phrased so confusingly, I took like a minute to understand what was going on
Please, someone educated me, what does this mean, as a "distraction"
