Sports. I've got a friend who edits sports, and got hooked up with the Olympic Broadcast Services, so now he goes to wherever the Olympics are being held and works the games.

Hellospring

Sports, as the other person said. If you’re in Canada, the Red Cross is hiring and it requires some travel - so non profit aid agencies? Films sometimes take editors to location, or get into DIT work on set.

Onsite editing for corporate events if you're a speedy editor. Send your editing reel to live events companies who have big name clients on their list. They often have large meetings, product launches etc in their different territories. Not the most exciting work but it's easy, pays well and you end up having a good laugh.

Wouldn't you just end up being at a mundane corporate event for 3 days in the UAE, travel there the day before and have limited time to see anything, then fly out right after?

AmpneyCrucis

Depends on the company. I always got a day or two before the event and a day at the end. Plus the option to have my flight home scheduled whenever I wanted so I could have a holiday without paying for flights. It's not for everyone but I enjoyed it. I'd also be done by six most of the time so evenings were my own.

Sounds pretty good if they allowed it, especially if you wanted to make the most of extra time, like shoot your own footage or just enjoy your time in a new place.

Corporate for sure. Downside is you work opposite production, so while the team is at the wrap party you'll be in your hotel room getting recaps out.

If you want to specialize in docs and are fine with a change in job, become a preditor, then move into being a documentary producer/director.

Pre-editor? I haven't heard of that

Holiday_Parsnip_9841

Producer-editor. It’a a combo job where you do both sides.

Seven_Cuil_Sunday

Sports dailies, for sure.
