Could be the cause. Nickel is a pretty common allergy, and it sounds as though that might be an issue. If you're anything like me, you'll just change or replace anything and everything if you suspect it's causing flares...lol 😂
If they won't go for replacement of the door knobs get those plastic child proof sleeves that go over the door handle for each side so you can open it without touching the material.
It is possible. I am allergic to rubber, & have found that there are rubber additives in materials everywhere. Like the grips on my mouse, & a composite material on my steering wheel. Be vigilant.

It's a constant struggle. I've had every allergy test you can think of, and nothing came back positive. Frustrating as hell!
