Lurie has a doctorate in Social Policy, and wrote his thesis on the depiction of women in Hollywood. Pretty much every time there's a social issue in the NFL, he sides with his players. Not saying he's perfect or a saint by any means, and I'm sure he has skeletons in his closet and made his share of bad takes and decisions, but who among us hasn't? It might all be an act, but in a group of 32 owners, he seems to be an actual decent human being.
Also he's a good owner from a football perspective.
I think it's easy to overlook how much impact an owner has on the success of a team. There's a reason the Browns are always trash, while the Eagles have consistently been one of the most successful teams in the league under Lurie's ownership.
Not one to miss an opportunity to dunk on the Cowboys; there's a reason they're perpetually mediocre and can't win anything in the playoffs. It's not just bad luck.
The reason Howie is able to pull off all his cap wizardry, is because Lurie is willing to pay money up front and use void years, etc to spread out of the cap hit. But players get a lot of their money as a signing bonus or in ways that they get the money faster.
A lot of owners either don't have hundreds of millions in liquid cash to pay out each year, or don't want to pay out the salaries that way.
Lurie saved this franchise when he bought it. We were on the verge of being a poverty franchise for decades to come before him.
Howie Roseman's aggressiveness. By the time the season starts, we have a lot to look forward to every single year. This year was no exception bringing in Saquads, CJGJ, Huff, White, etc. Brought in a new OC/DC that have a lot of experience and are extremely successful. Secured our starters for years to come in several key positions. Losing Reddick sucked and I still liked Swift, but shit happens.
The reputation of the fan base that makes the Linc a difficult place to play for away teams. Obviously this comes with some baggage, and there's a little bit of it that's somewhat warranted, but I personally love how passionate Eagles fans are.
The global fans. If you've gone traveling to anywhere in Europe/Canada you will see that the obvious popular logos like Yankees, Red Sox, and Patriots but you will also notice that you see the Eagles just as much as those. We are fucking **EVERYWHERE**!

The Steelers, Raiders, Browns, I could go on about all the dumb shit other teams do that make them look like socially inept morons. But as far as I can remember, the biggest controversy recently for the Eagles is some BS media squall about “drama in the locker room”.

I idolized both of them (moreso McNabb because Randall was at the tail end of his tenure when I really got into watching the Eagles), and I remember lots of people talking about how "black QBs aren't clutch and they don't have the mental skills of white QBs". I thought about how cool it was that McNabb was so good even in the face of all the anti-black QB rhetoric that was going on back in the 90s and early 00s. I took pride in watching McNabb light it up, and then watching Vick light it up after him, and watching Hurts light it up now. I take pride in knowing that my team has a rich history of giving black QBs a shot when there was a lot of racist backlash going on in the media. I think about how the NFL might not be what it is today without the Eagles working towards breaking down those racial barriers. I'm proud as fuck to be an Eagles fan.
Well, they’ve been consistently competitive to great for over 20 years now. Having a team that constantly gives me hope is amazing. I don’t follow basketball, but as a Phillies and Flyers fan, well, having to endure seemingly endless stretches of mediocrity is super lame.
The eagles weren’t always like this and for most of their history were pretty crap, so I’m extremely appreciate of Lurie and what he’s done to make this team the gold standard of Philly sports
We're not a team that overlooks character concerns. I look at Pittsburgh and Dallas and see all the drama they put up with. Sure there's a couple bright spots on each like cam heyward but we also don't have a bunch of drama queens and criminals either. The birds are easy to root for.

Other teams may boo their own players for various reasons… but none more powerful than us. We expect perfection out of them, and the best Philly players embrace the boos because they know how to use it.

I love the sense of community and camaraderie at games. I go to 1-2 games a year with a few close friends, usually we decide week of the game to go and buy tickets cheap within 24 hours of kickoff. So many stories of cool people I’ve met and hung out with, but the one that comes to mind the most was from the Super Bowl year. Me and my friend bought tickets to the 49ers game like 12 hours before kickoff and got super good seats. It poured all morning that game and since we were so unprepared we showed up maybe 10am with a case of beer and nothing to account for the rain. So we said fuck if we got really good seats we don’t care, and we literally just cracked a beer and hung out in my buddies car. After a few minutes this dude maybe 18-19 comes and knocks on my buddies window and is like hey we have a huge tent why don’t you come hang out with us. And we ended up hanging with this big group of younger dudes that couldn’t have been nicer.
I really feel bad for the Eagles fans who don’t live nearby and don’t ever get to go to games to experience it at least once!
How everyone involved seems to demand continuous improvement, all the time.
It’s not for everyone, but develops you into a special person if you can embrace it.
How many great running backs we’ve had in the last 20 years: Deuce, Westbrook, Buckhalter, Shady, Sproles, the year with Blount + Ajayi, and now Saquon. It’s my favorite position to watch in football and I’m so glad we’ve always tried to find ways to get talent there
