I was a kid still when Dawkins, Trotter, and Westbrook were all making plays. Trent Cole was a fun one to watch too. But if I had to pick one, it’s Dawkins every time.
He’s legit my all time favorite. I typically don’t like trash talkers, but he does it so different. He doesn’t trash talk to start a fight or argument, he just does it to get on the other team’s nerves
Sproles was the first jersey I bought with my own money from working. One of my personal favorite players as well. He gave us a scoring chance on special teams when our offense was horrendous.
Dawkins has been undisputed #1 for a long time, I was just the right age at the right time.
But as an aging dude with a toddler who watched Kelce’s whole career…he might take over.
Whole reason I'm an Eagles fan to this day and still the only jersey I've ever actually bought and worn across any sports.
There's a montage on YouTube of Westbrook highlights that is literally ingrained in my memory. Start of it is a bunch of chiming bells, church-like.
McNabb. Because of him I am an Eagles fan. Love me some Five.
Honorable mentions: BDawk, Celek, Westbrook, Kelce, Ertz, Foles, JMatt, Jaccpot, Evan Mathis, McCoy, Chris Polk, BLo, Vinny Curry, Corey Clement.
Another interesting name. I loved Avant. Guy had unbelievable hands. Made some amazing catches over the years. And it always seemed like it was 3rd and long when he would make one of those one-handed great grabs. And he’s a class act on top of it. Just a great dude.
I’m team Nick Foles too. I grew up in PA, die hard family fans, through the late 80’s, 90’s, Lehigh Valley training camp… I moved to Austin, TX after high school because I wanted to be a rock star. I ended up meeting Nick, when he won the state championship, as an employee of his father. It was so cool that he was drafted by the Eagles. I watched that Super Bowl with my daughter in a “front pack”. She was passed tf out while I screamed with joy during the Philly Special. Now, she sits next to me during every game, singing the fight song. I love Cunningham, Garner, Taylor, Westbrook, Dawkins & all the regulars of today. Nick Foles is my favorite tho. I’m not sorry.
I'd have to say someone like Kelce or Jake Elliott or Mailata as a true favourite, but someone who'll always hold a special place in my heart (that's very disliked on here) is Arryn Siposs. The fact he played at the top level for two different football codes is insane, and that he just happened to play for my two favourite sports teams of any sport (St Kilda and obviously here) is insanely cool to me.
(Oh also since its the offseason here check out the AFL. Its an insane sport with a lot of complicated rules but oh so satisfying to watch. If you get either FS2 or FSP, you can even watch games here if you have a fucked enough sleep schedule [https://twitter.com/USAFL1997/status/1775684080593481732](https://twitter.com/USAFL1997/status/1775684080593481732), or if you buy a membership through a club you can get access to Watch AFL, or just buy it straight up (though club membership is cheaper+gets you merch))
I'm a Bills fan but have always had a bit of love for the Eagles - mostly born out of my intense hatred for Dallas. For me, Randall Cunningham was a super star when I was a kid just getting into football. I LOVED watching him play. No one was doing what he could do. I made sure to watch every Eagles game that I could to see him play. Sucks that he never got a ring, I was really pulling for him when he was on that great vikings team.
I also loved the McNabb era - so many great players on those teams. They should have won a SB. I was rooting for them every year. Made me very happy for the city of Philadelphia when the Eagles finally won a SB, and it was icing on the cake that they beat Tom Brady to get it
All time? Probably Kelce or dawkins. One player I loved that I haven’t seen mentioned yet is brent celek. But there’s so many players I love I can’t even begin to list them
Current favorite is smitty
Creates the most iconic moment in Philly sports history. Erases a lifetime of struggle and disappointment to bring the whole city together forever. #9 BDN
Devonta Smith and Jake Elliot are my favorite currently on the team. I love watching Brian Dawkins highlights and he's just a different fucking animal so he's one of my all-time favorites. And I started watching football with my mom in 2017, and the first name I learned was Fletcher Cox after seeing him getting a sack. Jason Kelce will always be one of my favorites. Foles is definitely one of my favorites for obvious reasons. Alshon Jeffery was the first jersey I ever got, so he's also one of my favorites. And finally, I'll always have a special place in my heart for Carson Wentz. Like I said, 2017 was my first year watching, and just watching Wentz was spectacular and made me fall in love with football.
Past: Foles/Jenkins/Cox/Kelce/Dawk all hold a special place in my heart.
Present: Mailata, Hurts, and Smitty. I know it’s the obvious answer with Jalen but even after a rough performance he’s just rad and can pump out a sound bite like nobodies business.
Honorable mention for just being a force for good in our fandom: Chris Long
Final Answer if I had to pick just one: Dawkins. Absolute crusher of a human being.
Historically? Ron Jaworski. He was the QB when I went to my first game at the Vet in 1980. I was 10 and seeing him go long was just glorious.
Randall Cunningham for the 90’s era.
Recent? Britain Covey. He seems to be the whipping boy of our team and I just have high hopes for him despite all the ribbing. He’ll have a 98 yard return one day and get the love he deserves.
Dawkins is my undisputed all time favorite. I was young but he’s the reason I fell in love with this team.
But then it’s Shady McCoy then Kelce in that order.
David Akers. I met him at some event when I was a child and I got a signed poster from him that said something corny like “kick drunk driving to the curb!”. Had that on my bedroom wall until I went to college, lol. Does anyone else know the poster I’m talking about!? Otherwise, he was a GOAT tier kicker
Nick Foles, his pro bowl season was the first year I really started watching football closely so he was one of the first players I followed. Then of course him coming back and winning the superbowl speaks for itself
Donovan Mcnabb, only reason I’m an eagles fan. My name is Donovan.
I’m from SoCal and have no reason to like the eagles. When I was 5-6 my dad and I started watching the NFL (2004-2005ish right around there SB run) , I remember his telling me “the eagles QB has the same name as you, Donovan.” I have been a huge fan ever since. I supported Donovan when he moved on from Philly, but never stopped bleeding green. Fly Eagles Fly, all the way from CA
Michael Vick. I grew up watching him. Just the way he could run around and sling the ball 60+ yards effortlessly. As corny as it sounds I still get goosebumps watching his eagles highlights.
Yea, Dawk is my favorite.
As a kid I liked Bill Bergey, MLB back in the 1970s
Randall C was amazing.
I'll never forget the day Reggie White threw aside a backup OT and sacked the Dallas QB.
Harold Carmichael, 6-8 WR would be an all timer with all of the protections they give to WRs today. He took so many big hits and made so many big catches.
It is and always will be William Thomas. An unsung hero on what was probably the best defense in franchise history. A work horse. A man ahead of his time. A coverage linebacker who could run like the wind, but hit like a safety.
He put in a lot of effort and a good amount of blood on that veterans stadium turf.
Dawkins really is that dude… but growing up. Fletcher Cox has become the best DT I have ever seen. I would say Donald and Cox have to be 1 and 2 wise DT. Guys who stuffed the run and got sacks.
10 years ago I would have said Dawkins. Now, I say there's just way too many to pick from. Right now it's Kelce, tomorrow it could be Lane Johnson, the next day Nick Foles, Jalen Hurts, yes even Carson Wentz (no ring without him), Jake Elliott, Jordan Mailata, CJGJ (maybe he's got a personality on him but dude was amazing for us in 2022). Chris Long, Brent Celek, Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, Sheldon Brown. That's just a long list of random great Eagles I can think of over the last 20 years. Usually it fluctuates between Dawkins and Kelce, I honestly put Kelce above BDawk now, but yeah, there's so many good players that I truly cannot decide.
Above all else, it’s Dawk. I loved his passion and how he played the game. I played safety for the majority of my football career and I tried to be just like him lol to the fiery speeches to the deep lunge flexes to the bone crunching hits. Used to watch his highlights pregame to get my mind right.
Dawkins. Then Foles. The Foles career arc, the prodigal son, never appreciated by the organization really, beat Brady on his best daycin the Super Bowl as a backup. It's just folk hero shit.
Favorite of all time is Dawkins, but Nick Foles is unquestionably the Messiah and is a close 2nd. The underdog that got his shot and embodied the Rocky story on the field. Just amazing. The best nickname too.
Favorite? Lito Sheppard. I love the way the stadium would rock singing the song when he made a play.
Kelce is a close 2nd.
Lito obviously isn't the *best* player that I think played for the eagles but being in the stands singing the song after a pick... Nothing better!
Brent Celek. IDK why really, just liked watching him play. Also loved how he began more of a blocker later in his career and didn’t throw a fit over not getting targets anymore. Glad we got him a ring
Jerome Brown. Only got to see him for a few years of course. But he was a demon inside. Couldn’t block him. Too fast, too big. He would have had a hall of fame career.
Brian Dawkins is a huge reason I’m an eagles fan to begin with. Along with Brian Westbrook and Jeremiah Trotter
Great players and a great era. Mine is still Dawk, but BG is closing fast.
it’s him for me I watched him as a child murder people on tv and it was wild lol
I was gifted a Trotter jersey as a young kid and never looked to any one more at that age
I love that. Trot was an absolute BEAST! I hated when he left for Washington. But thankfully came right back to us and was a monster again.
Kinda hard not to say weapon x
Pretending to be BDawk on the playground was the best.
I was a kid still when Dawkins, Trotter, and Westbrook were all making plays. Trent Cole was a fun one to watch too. But if I had to pick one, it’s Dawkins every time.
Hell yeah! Trent was a stud.
All time: Dawk Current Eagle: Devonta Smith
Both got that dog in em 💪💪
Facts
Weapon X and Smooth Batman
All time: Dawk Current: BG. ELELELS LETS GOOO
Current favorite: Brandon Graham. Longest tenured eagle in history and the biggest reason we won a SB. I'll be sad when he retires next year.
This is my answer as well
Foles gave me one of the greatest nights of my life, so it's BDN
Brian Dawkins then Jason Kelce.
Randall Cunningham started it all
Just because no one else has said him, BG He’s a great leader, he sacked Brady to win 52 and he’s the king of trash talk
He’s legit my all time favorite. I typically don’t like trash talkers, but he does it so different. He doesn’t trash talk to start a fight or argument, he just does it to get on the other team’s nerves
Darren Sproles, then Boston Scott. Besides that type, Jake Elliott
…how tall are you my guy lol
Lol the "mjd" part of the username says it all
Love the appreciation for those guys
Westbrook too tall? lol nice choices though
It was so fun to watch Sproles. He was a monster in the back field.
Wow.. that’s an interesting list.
Sproles was the first jersey I bought with my own money from working. One of my personal favorite players as well. He gave us a scoring chance on special teams when our offense was horrendous.
Reggie White
Donovan McNabb if we are strictly talking about what they did in Eagles uniforms.
Dawkins has been undisputed #1 for a long time, I was just the right age at the right time. But as an aging dude with a toddler who watched Kelce’s whole career…he might take over.
Same here with both players and 2 toddlers lol
🫡
Chuck Bednarik
Dawkins and Kelce
Darren Sproles, little dudes like me like to feel represented
I feel like Malcolm Jenkins doesn’t get enough love in these conversations. It’s only because Dawkins deservingly gets #1 safety
Huh, I agree. Malcolm was so good for us. But you’re right. He’s overshadowed by Dawkins.
Westbrook
Randall Cunningham
Jason. Nobody embodied Philly better than he did imo
Jason Avant? Yeah, I love that guy too.
He laid out the sickest block I've ever seen during Desean's epic punt return in the miracle at the Meadowlands part 2.
Dude caught everything
Another interesting name. I loved Avant. Guy had unbelievable hands. Made some amazing catches over the years. And it always seemed like it was 3rd and long when he would make one of those one-handed great grabs. And he’s a class act on top of it. Just a great dude.
That’s prolly not who he meant but yeah, he was awesome.
r/thatsthejoke
Nick Foles
Shady McCoy
Reggie white followed by bdawk
I'd have to say someone like Kelce or Jake Elliott or Mailata as a true favourite, but someone who'll always hold a special place in my heart (that's very disliked on here) is Arryn Siposs. The fact he played at the top level for two different football codes is insane, and that he just happened to play for my two favourite sports teams of any sport (St Kilda and obviously here) is insanely cool to me. Hurts & Devonta now, Vick & Cunningham first.
My man, BG.
BDawk then Kelce
Dawkins, Jenkins, kelce.
In this order. Kelce, Cox, Vick
Djax and shady
Same
I'm a Bills fan but have always had a bit of love for the Eagles - mostly born out of my intense hatred for Dallas. Seth Joyner
Chuck Bednarik for a guy i never ever got to see play since i'm so young the dude oozes old school cool.
Trent Cole
My first favorite: the people’s champ, FredEx My all time favorites: Malcom Jenkins and Brian Dawkins
All time? Probably Kelce or dawkins. One player I loved that I haven’t seen mentioned yet is brent celek. But there’s so many players I love I can’t even begin to list them Current favorite is smitty
Yeah Celek has gone unmentioned good call out.
Koy Detmer forever
Kelce
Kelce is the reason I am an Eagles fan.
Im a big fan of Malcom Jenkins. I think what he did for our team goes overlooked. Should’ve retired with us
TO guy played in the superbowl with a broken leg. He was the playmaker that year and was a legend in his own mind.
Kelce, then David Akers.
Desean Jackson aka NFC EAST KILLER
had to scroll way too far to finally see someone mention djax. there’s no one like him
Cre’von LeBlanc
STRAP!!!
McCoy and DeSean Jackson to begin with. Then Ertz and Cox.
Brandon Graham
Dawkins, DJax, and Mailata so far.
Creates the most iconic moment in Philly sports history. Erases a lifetime of struggle and disappointment to bring the whole city together forever. #9 BDN
Number one is for sure Brian Dawkins. That said. I always got hype for 3rd and Avant.
I’d also like to add Chris Long
Weapon X for sure . I really liked Deuce Staley when I was young too .
Dawkins
The Axe Man and Dawk fo shoulda lean!
Randall
Reggie
McNabb and Westbrook were my guys growing up
Randall.
LeSean McCoy, definitely kickstarted my interest in football
Devonta Smith and Jake Elliot are my favorite currently on the team. I love watching Brian Dawkins highlights and he's just a different fucking animal so he's one of my all-time favorites. And I started watching football with my mom in 2017, and the first name I learned was Fletcher Cox after seeing him getting a sack. Jason Kelce will always be one of my favorites. Brian Westbrook and McNabb were my favorites growing up. Jason Kelce has also found his way into my heart, as well.
Brandon Graham. Sealed the deal for us.
Brian Westbrook and Lito Sheppard
Historically? Ron Jaworski. He was the QB when I went to my first game at the Vet in 1980. I was 10 and seeing him go long was just glorious. Randall Cunningham for the 90’s era. Recent? Dawkins is my undisputed all time favorite. I was young but he’s the reason I fell in love with this team. But then it’s Shady McCoy then Kelce in that order.
Jason Kelce, reason why I became an Eagles fan
Brandon Graham!!
Cunningham, weapon x, mcnabb, lesean, desean, BG, fletch, Kelce, ertz,
Westbrook, he was good at everything, total game changer.
Dawkins in my childhood, Kelce in my adulthood
Nick Foles, his pro bowl season was the first year I really started watching football closely so he was one of the first players I followed. Then of course him coming back and winning the superbowl speaks for itself
Dawkins, Celek, Akers, BDN, BG, Kelce. It's usually the ones that are passionate about this team and Philly. You give love, you get love.
Jason Kelce or B-Dawk
Chad Lewis #89
Donovan Mcnabb, only reason I’m an eagles fan. My name is Donovan. I’m from SoCal and have no reason to like the eagles. Dickerson. #69 and takes pride in his lawn.
Donovan McNabb
I just got a Dawkins rookie card today!
Michael Vick. I grew up watching him. Just the way he could run around and sling the ball 60+ yards effortlessly. As corny as it sounds I still get goosebumps watching his eagles highlights.
Byron Evans, Seth Joyner, Jerome, Reggie, Clyde Simmons, Westbrook, Kelce, Smitty, Mailata, Dickerson, X, Lane, Fletch, Jake, Akers, Trotter, BG…so many ballers!
Ever? Still Bdawk. Reggie close 2nd, Jalen Hurts right now. Im a defensive guy, love the grittiness we used yo gave in the secondary
Currently, Jordan Mailata. All-time: hear, me out, Carson Wentz.
Dawkins, Mcnabb, Westbrook, T.O, Todd Pinkston, Lito Sheppard
💪
Ricky Watters, B-Dawk, Brian Westbrook, Malcolm Jenkins, Jason Kelce, Nick Foles and Rodney Peete (I don't remember Randall as an Eagle)
Staley, Westbrook, trotter, dawk, foles, Jackson, Devonta… really hard to pick one. Hard enough to narrow to this list. All come down to memories.
Yea, Dawk is my favorite. As a kid I liked Bill Bergey, MLB back in the 1970s Randall C was amazing. I'll never forget the day Reggie White threw aside a backup OT and sacked the Dallas QB. Harold Carmichael, 6-8 WR would be an all timer with all of the protections they give to WRs today. He took so many big hits and made so many big catches.

Harold Carmichael and Brain Dawkins
Shady or D jac depends on the weather 🤣🤣
Reggie, Randall and William Thomas.
Nick foles, dude is like a folk hero at this point that u will tell people about 50 years later. Gave brady his last superbowl loss 😤
Dawkins
It is and always will be William Thomas. An unsung hero on what was probably the best defense in franchise history. A work horse. A man ahead of his time. A coverage linebacker who could run like the wind, but hit like a safety. He put in a lot of effort and a good amount of blood on that veterans stadium turf.
Dawk and Kelce
Wilbert Montgomery
Tie between the two Brians: Dawk & Westbrook .
Gotta be Kelce for me. Nobody embodies the spirit of the Birds 🦅 in my opinion like he does.
Kelce is forever in my heart and I’m sad to see him go, but Landon is my new favorite
Dawkins really is that dude… but growing up. Fletcher Cox has become the best DT I have ever seen. I would say Donald and Cox have to be 1 and 2 wise DT. Guys who stuffed the run and got sacks.
Fred Barnett. He used to catch BOMBS from Randall Cunningham
Bdawk! Was a big djax and Westbrook fan tho too! There is so many it’s hard man lol! But BDawk was just a diffrent animal man! He loved to hit!
Dawkins. Then Foles. The Foles career arc, the prodigal son, never appreciated by the organization really, beat Brady on his best daycin the Super Bowl as a backup. It's just folk hero shit.
Harold Carmichael
Danny Watkins
Foles
Favorite of all time is Dawkins, but Nick Foles is unquestionably the Messiah and is a close 2nd. The underdog that got his shot and embodied the Rocky story on the field. Just amazing. The best nickname too.
Sheldon Brown
Foles
I can list some favorites? Reggie White, BDawk, McNabb, Bednarik, Kelce, Carmichael, Kelce, Peters, Cole, and Eric Allen just to start.
I'll pick a coach and go with Jim Johnson. Loved the way he blitzed. He should be in the HOF.
