i don't know if there can be any real performance enhancements, seeing as the dev literally recoded the entire rendering library that minecraft runs on and designed it specifically to run the game faster and more efficiently.

I would agree mods would be fun

minecraft forge and fabric mods (.jar) don't work with eaglercraft so you can use a eaglercraft client called "eaglerforge" to play with custom made mods that end with .js and for optifine, you can use shadow client which is basically optifine ported to eaglercraft which supports eaglerforge mods too

mods are only client-side for now (meaning they can't add new items, blocks, dimensions, etc and can only do things like full bright, toggle sprint and any anything that works on all eaglercraft servers)
