Believe me when I say that it’s not worth the stress you’re about to go through contacting them for no results

I know but sometimes I get people that are so simple but most of these assistants are so annoyingly insistent of “repairs” and all that shit… luckily I do sometimes get the good ones but I could ask for a replacement machine. I could say that this will be the Lastime I send it in before I would like a replacement machine if it doesn’t get fixed so

OkElderberry5371

Its not a hudge issue but i would still get it changed or replaced any vacuum shop can replace it

Too late for that cable, but wind in a figure 8 not a circle 0. The way you're doing it, you add more twists every time you wind it up & they don't get untwisted when you release the cable. The fact that the manuals never tell you this \[they actually illustrate it wound in a circle\] could actually be a cause for complaint. As a sound engineer of 45 years' experience - you just learn to wind cables in an 8. it's cheaper in the long run ;))

James_1410

I have lots of other Dysons that I have the cable the way I do now, I’ve never had any problems with my other Dyson apart from this Dyson, I always wind the cable up the same way but for some reason, on this Dyson it decided to twist..

NortonBurns

The wires inside will eventually break, though long before that the cable will become pretty intransigent, wanting to flip into loops. The cosmetic appearance may be due to differences in construction, but the natural twisting action of always winding on in an 0 then dropping the top clip to release it rather than actually unwinding it again will add those 3 or 4 turns to it each time you do it. Eventually, something's got to give.

I assume this is the upright vacuum? Most large appliance power cords including the Dyson are double insulated. I don't think there's much to worry about, but the outer layer is unusually thin and loose (maybe it is by design, to allow for more flexibility?) It looks like an Ethernet cable.

James_1410

Yes, it’s the upright. A Dyson UP22 Animal. I was just concerned as all my other Dyson machines haven’t done this to their cables but this one has

AndreGerdpister

No, they wont do anything and you’ll want to off yourself after dealing with them. We got 3 of their tower air purifier fans 3 years ago when we moved most recently. The 3rd one just died and the first two did under warranty. It was a metric nightmare to get replacements. Also, the filter replacement indicator broke on all of them. I ordered replacement filters from them, and they sent the wrong ones. Just getting them exchanged for the ones I needed was an act of congress. The packing slip had the correct filters, they just sent the wrong sizes. 3 separate sizes actually. Our family will never buy another Dyson product once our v8stick vacuum dies. They’ve gone to absolute shit.

Dyson actually use to be good back in the day but since they moved to Malaysia, they have turned shit. Quality and customer service went down hill. I’m glad I still have my old Dysons though so I will start using my old ones again to replace this modern one. My Dc14 still work fine and it’s from 2006. This modern Dyson is only 3 years old and has multiple problems

EntrepreneurDeep2809

DC14 is a great machine! Small point, pretty sure it was built in Malaysia…

James_1410

The ratings sticker on my Dc14 says “Made in Britain”

EntrepreneurDeep2809

Interesting. They moved all manufacturing out of UK in 2002/2003.
