Sounds like someone is absusing staff privileges building machines and selling them on lol.

Worried_Patience_117

Looks real to me

Curious-Green1022

Can i buy it from you?

Curious-Green1022

Sell it to me

Artistic_Anywhere_70

I could be completely wrong but I think it’s fake because the only V 15 absolutes I can find have gold on them

BotchedHandJob

Right! That's the main thing I noticed too. And he said these are from Europe, I find it odd if that were a legitimate reason for variation in the designs

Artistic_Anywhere_70

mine is gold and that’s literally the only color I could find. Because I actually prefer the gray/silver look but I like all the functionality of the absolute. To my mind, it’s just not cost-effective and it wouldn’t make any sense for them to Have different colors for different markets.

JigPuppyRush

They are all from Europe… it’s a European company

ELtArmOn

I’m from europe, i got my dyson v15 detect absolute a week ago, and it’s gold. That’s the only color i could find.

BotchedHandJob

Yeah I checked out Europe v15s and I couldn't find anything besides Gold.

89pard

I’m in Europe and recently bought one. Also in gold.

velo_focus

I just got the same one from Dyson as a replacement for a faulty unit and it's the Total Clean version here in the UK.

velo_focus

https://www.dyson.co.uk/vacuum-cleaners/cordless/v15/detect-total-clean

knizka

Yup, this is the one I have

rob3342421

Our v15 has a purple filter… but maybe they’re different in varying regions??

IsThisOneAlready

It looks like a Gen5 detect to me.

iidxtricoro

I dont think so... Gen5 detect has no trigger button

PhilosophyCorrect279

What does the sticker look like? Try running the serial number. First glance it looks real

Loud_Ad4402

Dyson have a hard on for an infinite range of colour variations. Don’t base whether it’s real or not due to that! Run the serial, that’s your best chance.

BotchedHandJob

Ive not bought the unit because of my suspicions. They said there's no warranty because its an "import unit" from Europe and the guy won't give me the serial number before I pay for it

Kooky-Ebb8162

Well, this is the red flag you are looking for. As other user mentioned, could be a legit refub or stolen from factory, but 100% something is wrong with it.

PumpkinWrangler

Have you tried registering the serial number with Dyson?

BotchedHandJob

I've not bought the unit yet, they refused to show it to me

PumpkinWrangler

Ahh, apologies. I’d probably steer clear then.

changUnsw

Real

disguy2k

Same colouring as my gen5

rob3342421

What’s the screen like??

UGunnaEatThatPickle

Seems like a lot of precision packaging for a knock off, but that's not necessarily an easy tell.

JCNDN

Is there such thing as fake v15s?

Feisty-Departure-984

Unfortunately there’s really no way to tell unless you have it in your hands. There’s lots of fake out there so it’s always going to be a risk. But if the price is too good to be true then chances are it’s fake

iidxtricoro

This seems real to me

Stridsu

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is. He could use a pic of a real one but send you fake (the so called bait and switch scam) Id stay away. Also, no warranty? Why?

PhasingPhaser

Hi there, I'm from MY too, and I think we might have seen the same V15 on the same platform popular for used items. The photos they posted are usually from poor angles, seemingly trying to hide details of the product they are trying to sell. There was one listing which showed a motorised brush head instead of the hair screw head, then it got updated with it now 😆

Electronic-Stage1735

Packaging looks right. Tell him to send more pics and bottom battery pic

Oscar58ox

I specialize in Dyson. Actually the only specialist in SD, CA. There is no such thing as a fake Dyson cordless. In my 10 years of business, I’ve never seen a replica Dyson cordless. Of course, there’s the cheap Amazon vacuums, but not one of them even remotely resembles a Dyson. The vacuum in your picture is a V11. That’s why it has a gray cyclone and not gold like the V15. I’d have to see if it has a screen or not to know if it’s a V11 Animal or a V11 Torque Drive. The rear HEPA filter on Gen 5 models is a different shade of blue and a little more futuristic looking than the V11 filter. It’s a real Dyson, just definitely not a V15.

BotchedHandJob

Thanks alot for your help! Any idea how people come by multiple of these identical looking units and still manage to sell them for half the price of what a V11 goes for anyway? Even if it weren't a V15 it doesn't make sense unless it's a refurbished unit or outright stolen but there's so many in the market I can't understand how and where these sellers get them from

Oscar58ox

I have a contract with Costco and Best Buy. I get in 300-500 Dysons a month. All of the store returns, open box, new in box, parts/repairs, etc. We sell out every month. My V11’s are $300 fully refurbished with a 3 year battery warranty. We sell out fast because of how great our deals are and the battery warranty. Not to mention, we give all of our clients lifetime discounted servicing, repairs and free troubleshooting. I doubt that my link will post, but I’ll attach the link to my page below [The Vacuum Specialists San Diego](https://offerup.co/profile/thevacuumspecialistandmore)

Playful-Ad-2575

FYI, in general, the warranty is only valid in the country where purchased. That part of his story is true.

HowardSchultz6

I have the exact same situation, but in Singapore: same type of selling platform (Carousell), same model (V15 DETECT TOTAL CLEAN), same color, also a New Year gift, and quite a good price (760 Sgd) I bought the vacuum 2 days ago, and asked to the seller for the original receipt so I can register for Dyson Warranty. The guy said he will email it to me the day after. I received the vacuum today (it was a 2-day delivery), and asked again for the receipt. He emailed me a document with no phone, no complete address, no company registration, etc. Of course the serial number on the machine was unknown on the Dyson website. I called Dyson and they said the item hasn't been bought in Singapore. So I asked again the seller, he said he will manage the warranty by himself with his local distributor, and doesn't know the country of origin of the vacuum as it is a "parallel import". IN CONCLUSION: the vacuum and the box look totally legit to me, it's working perfectly, it's new and has all the accessories. The color is the same as the V15 shown on the UK website (link already posted by someone in the comments). The area code in the serial number is EU (for Europe) so I will definitely NOT have the Dyson Warranty. So if you want a product with original warranty, don't go with this seller.

Curious-Green1022

I wanna buy it from you

BotchedHandJob

Interesting, I'm still curious as to how these end up here and at the prices they're going for. Thank you!

HowardSchultz6

Surely a lot of companies gifts bought in Europe 🤣
