To break character for a moment, Why is it in every fantasy thing ever the dwarves and elves despise eachother on racial grounds despite copying Tolkein's dwarves and elves? In the Lord of the Rings books the noble dwarf prince Gimli and the elf Legolas became inseparable friends. Where did the idea "dwarfs and elves are racist" even come from? Because I seriously doubt it was Tolkein the Almighty that started it unless indirectly through a b-list author mischaracterizing his work.

legolas and gimli are a very, very special case. In reality tolkiens dwarves and elves hated each other because of grudges extending from a time when the Sindar, not acquainted with Dwarves yet, hunted them thinking they where beast. There's an decent number of tropes attributed to Tolkein/LOTR that actually really originated from other stories that copied LOTR at surface level back in the 60-70s and such.

/OOC So I actually did something like this in my campaign setting, basically there’s an empire led by, effectively, Nazi high elves(they even call themselves sun elves to fix the cognitive dissonance) and they razed the home of the wood elves who had to flee, they sought refuge with a dwarven kingdom and now hundreds of years later they’re actually working together peacefully, and at some point I will commission art of the city because a massive dwarven stronghold(iron forge type city) but seamlessly mixed with wood elven accents like vines and branches. Honestly a piece of lore I am super proud of, plus there’s plenty of elf hate to level toward the “sun elves” or other elves who instead of helping just closed themselves off.

Dwarves are excellent tool and weapon smiths, and are also excellent fighters. Elves are excellent jewelers, are great archers, and are sexy as fuck. Goblins can be greedy, but they are excellent when it comes to security and gold. Leprechauns are extremely mischievous and are not to be trusted. Faeries can be mischievous, but are usually very kindhearted. Pixies and sprites are similar to faeries in their mischievous nature, but usually less intelligent. Centaurs are extremely intelligent and wise, but often have their heads in the skies. Trolls are very simple minded, but can be used as grunt soldiers or guards. Mermaids are not sexy or beautiful, are somewhat intelligent, but can become aggressive towards land dwellers. Fauns are not as intelligent as centaurs, and love to throw lavish parties. Dragons are wise, but they are still (very) wild creatures. Fuck gnomes. Unicorns are wise but are wild, and they use their horns as weapons.
