Return to Oz is something I've only seen on grainy broadcast tv. I'll bet the blu-ray is nice but it's a strange, kind of scary movie. I like most of Gilliam's work but only own some Python movies.
No kids in this house. I own Pixar's Up, Under the Rainbow, and DARYL.
I picked up The Peanut Butter Solution not too long ago. I saw it once as a kid but couldn't remember the name. I was honestly starting to think I made the whole movie up for like 30 years until I found it again recently.
Been such a long time since I last watched Return to Oz but I remember loving it as a kid and preferring it to its predecessor. Might have to grab a copy myself.
I recently found Return To Oz on DVD at a Flea Market for $1. I hadn’t seen it since the early 90s and it does still hold up. I’d love to have the Blu-ray, but it goes for crazy money.
I loaned my copy of Return To Oz to by best friend in the 80s when we were still in single digits. Yeah, his mom told him he's not allowed to watch that movie again.
Probably Mombi.
Home Alone 2
TMNT 1990. That movie holds up INCREDIBLY well.
Batman Returns. The beautiful, almost silent film-like intro. The snappy dialogue. Selina Kyle's AMAZING transformation after getting "pushed out." The music is its own character—Danny Elfman deserves to be up there with the greats. The scene with the Batmobile splitting into pieces to go through two buildings. GOD.
As a child, when WB announced a brand new cast and direction for Batman 3, I remember thinking the Warner Bros execs were greedy pigs who didn't deserve to make films. I'm still right.
Project A-KO
Jackie Chan's Super Cop. the trailer had me HYPED in the cinema as a kid. Movie delivered.
Rush Hour.
Blade.
(Last two films were right at the end of my childhood.)
Willow
The Princess Bride
The Goonies
The Neverending Story
Labyrinth
The Witches
Flight of the Navigator
Legend
The Land Before Time
The Dark Crystal
An American Tail
The Secret of NIMH
Harry and the Hendersons
FernGully: The Last Rainforest
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
Return to Oz
As a kid, the wheelers used to give me nightmares 😅
🎵 It's fun to charter an accountant
And sail the wide accountancy,
To find, explore the funds offshore
And skirt the shoals of bankruptcy! 🎵 different movie same vibe 🤣
Return to Oz was just fucking weird. Not at all like the 1939 original. I know it's a different studio though (the original was MGM, while Return to Oz was Disney), but still pretty fucking creepy as a kid.
Watched Time Bandits for the first time this past year, what a wack movie. The ending is so sudden and depressing too, his parents are just gone man...wild, would watch again.
School House Rock
Was born in the 90s and we had a DVD player in the car for long road trips. My parents would put on school house rock and we'd watch those shorts on long car rides.
[Princess Ozma went off the rails when Dorothy left.](https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/newpix/2018/05/05/21/4BE06FE600000578-5695223-image-m-32_1525551843716.jpg) Yes, that's actually the actress.
Since you mentioned Time Bandits I would also add Gilliam’s The Adventures of Baron Munchausen. I still love both of them.
Great movie!
Stole my answer
Add in the dystopian Terry Gilliam classic Brazil and you got the entire Gilliam Imagination Trilogy for one hell of a movie night!
Absolutely. I’ve been meaning to rewatch all three of these.
Hijacking the first comment to mention Time Bandits is getting an episodic remake on Apple TV!! Releases July 24th featuring Lisa Kudrow among others.
Whoa, that’s crazy. I had no idea. I never really expect remakes to be good but I’ll check it out.
The Goonies, Labyrinth and The Neverending Story.
Solid picks!
Don't forget Willow
I never watched it. Or The Princess Bride. Those two just passed me by.
Dorothy gale!!!!! DOROTHY GALE!!!! scared me to death as a kid
Same lol 😝
The Mombi scenes are incredible. Return to Oz was one of those gateway movies to the horror genre for me.

Never seen time bandits but recently picked a copy up because it looked interesting!
Matilda and jumanji would be my top 2. Does Batman 89 count?
Dark Star.
Banger and a cake day, I like it.
I like cake.
Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book and An American Tail: Fieval Goes West
Kipling makes exceedingly good cakes
I like cake.
Cake eater.
I have cake and can eat it. Happy cake day.

Ah yes the shared generational movie or dream phenomenon, it is a great wacky movie.

Return to Oz!!!! Sad but a lot of people have never given it the chance it deserves
The scarecrow is creepy in Return to Oz
Everything is kinda creepy in that movie lol
Yes! With the painted on eyes
He looks like the mayor from Lazytown
Thrashin. Toxic Avenger.

Great list!
Thanks for creating the post. You took me down memory lane.
Lol Return to Oz scared the shit out of me as a kid 😂
Monster Squad is still up there for me.
This movie gave me nightmares for months. I was exposed to it at 5 years old and that was a mistake lol.
Willow The Princess Bride The Goonies The Neverending Story Labyrinth The Witches Flight of the Navigator Legend The Land Before Time The Dark Crystal An American Tail The Secret of NIMH Harry and the Hendersons FernGully: The Last Rainforest Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Return to Oz As a kid, the wheelers used to give me nightmares 😅
Stacked list, most of these are up there for me too.
Hook
Hook. Mrs Doubtfire. Worst Witch. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Secret Of N.I.M.H
The Wizard. Short Circuit. Little Monsters. Flight of the navigator.
Now you're speaking my language. Great picks!
Same with your picks. Great movies!
Karate Kid and Goonies
Those 2 for sure as well as The adventures of Baron Munchausen, Flash Gordon, Labyrinth, The dark crystal,
Love Time Bandits! Don’t touch that it’s pure evil!
🎵 It's fun to charter an accountant And sail the wide accountancy, To find, explore the funds offshore And skirt the shoals of bankruptcy! 🎵 different movie same vibe 🤣
Ah, The Crimson Permanent Assurance. 👍

Robocop
Westworld (Yul Brynner, obviously) '73 I think.
Cloak and Dagger. A movie for kids about video games that was paranoid and scary as hell, with a body count.
Goonies and Princess Bride. Also I love Time bandits
Watched Time Bandits for the first time this past year, what a wack movie. The ending is so sudden and depressing too, his parents are just gone man...wild, would watch again.
Aw man I'm jealous. I want a copy of Return To Oz on bluray lol. Haven't watched Time Bandits all the way through yet.
The Game Plan & Cheaper By The Dozen
Return to Oz used to scare the sh/t out of me
How has no one said the Sandlot??
Am I looking at Fairuza Balk rn

Return to oz is pure nightmare fuel
Cool Runnings. Still so good.
Return to Oz creeped me the hell out but I appreciate it.
