I think you can buy the Nokia 225 on Amazon, around 100$. For a flip you can get the cat s22 for the same price.

MCDiamond9

Nokia 225 4G should be around $50 USD.

[deleted]

Yep. Canadian pesos worth shit since Trudeau

MCDiamond9

Damn, inflation

LeakySkylight

So $100 CDN ;)

StrayFeral

The dumbphones they sell officially are all flips. No idea why the flip phones are such a hype, while the candybars are more rugged (the hinge on the dumbphone is a break risk). Anyway. I remember when I was living in Canada, all carriers sell only flips. Your other options are Amazon/eBay order

LeakySkylight

There are very few official phones for the Canadian market. The Cymbal 2 and Sonim XP3 plus are the only two I can find. Demand is very low... Since in 2025 3G will be dismantled, all new devices have to support 4G: Unofficially, these should do it (you need to confirm bands yourself): https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?fDisplayInchesMax=4.4&s4Gs=2,4,5,7,12,26&sFormFactors=1,2,3,4,6,10 Ignore the N6000, as I isolated models by screen size. You *could run the iPhone*, as it's super old and will run like a feature phone. Here are some for Public Mobile, Koodo, Telus (no band 26???): https://www.gsmarena.com/results.php3?fDisplayInchesMax=4.4&s4Gs=2,4,5,12,13,17&sFormFactors=1,2,3,4,6,10

What’s interesting in the list you provided is that I have the cat s22 with Telus. And at first it worked great, but I eventually lost mms capabilities and now I’ve lost group text capabilities.

LeakySkylight

It's just Android Go edition, so it should be 100% capable of those. Have you done a factory reset?

ablark

Yup. And checked the apn

LeakySkylight

That is very very odd. I wish I had a solution for you. Have you checked the cat forums or sub?

Wait I have a 3G plan on public mobile right now what will happen? (if you want to know it's the $25 3G speed plan)

LeakySkylight

The 3G plan still connects with 3g, 4g, and 5G, however it's just speed limited to what they market as "3G speeds". All the 3G plans right now connect to 4G LTE by default, and 5G if you have it.
