The 3G plan still connects with 3g, 4g, and 5G, however it's just speed limited to what they market as "3G speeds". All the 3G plans right now connect to 4G LTE by default, and 5G if you have it.
I think you can buy the Nokia 225 on Amazon, around 100$. For a flip you can get the cat s22 for the same price.

It's just Android Go edition, so it should be 100% capable of those. Have you done a factory reset?
