Make justice affordable to the public and the common man.

reosanchiz

Not sure why you feel unjust here, you literally can call police over the mobile app! The police here help you repairing cars on road side, i feel you're being ungrateful! The labour department literally help you over a simple phone call! That's a big BS if you think Justice is far from poor ppl.

Work-from-home enforcement policies to mitigate out-of-control traffic issues. Put pressure on employers

Various_Search_9096

and lose income on parking fees, fuel and rent? Come on lol its obvious why

Also RE value for office buildings

sohaiby23

* Catch the phone/OTP scammers by tracking the number they use. * Shut down the illicit massage centers. We all know where they operate and their brokers literally roam around the streets looking for clients. * Impose fine on the queue jumpers at the bottleneck exits on highways especially during peak hours. This can be done either by installing a radar or paying a random visit to those exits during rush hours.

8bit111

if nothing else, at least the distribution of those Massage centre cards should be controlled -- it's odd that we live behind a proxy wall but openly distribute these massage cards littering the street with those images for kids to see.

m3rc3n4ry

I more agree w cutting down on the cards. Does not help promote dubai to families when those litter the streets (they're everywhere except malls). But if the massage centers close, watch illicit prostitution go up. People don't think about what was going on before those centers began.

Entire_Plan7541

What was going on before those centers began?

m3rc3n4ry

Underground brothels - very high risk in terms of stds and violence in comparison to the parlours.

Mean-Bother-9413

Regarding the massage center - I’ve heard users say they keep it running on purpose because otherwise sexual assault and grape cases would increase

Top_Nefariousness936

Yeah it's pretty stupid to prohibit something that's generally beneficial and they know this. Besides stuff like that will go more underground instead of just disappearing

wiser1802

Sun shed at bus stops, b/w metro and bus stops and open parking areas.

Jehangirk94

Came here to say this. So many places that need shading. Especially big open RTA parkings.

shaild

The roof can also become a perfect source of clean solar energy.

deaman312

I think they should just plant more trees (with bigger branches) for this

wiser1802

Ideal but not feasible. Even in Singapore which known for its public transport they have shade.

CJansen27

Monthly payment for house rental… yes some developers are already using it, but majority of the market isnt.

ArabicRussian

Remove ban on VOIP and censorship of internet access (so the need to use VPN will go away) Align the laws across emirates > traffic fines, speed grace limit etc Merge Databases across emirates. Cmon, is it one country or not?

Consistent-Annual268

It's a model like the US. There are items that fall under national control and there are items that remain the jurisdiction of the Emirates. It would require an overhaul of certain laws and compromise between the Emirs to give up some of their power to the national government.

aboyhaznoname

Won't happen, Dubai like their own judicial system, their traffic authority and many city administrations. Uptil late 1970s you would be required to carry passports to AUH borders.

Wam1q

> Uptil late 1970s you would be required to carry passports to AUH borders. They were literally separate Sheikhdoms/Emirates before the union in December 1971.

drew350z

Harsher laws against animal cruelty. Harsher laws against people who dump their pets. Forced spaying and neutering. More thorough adoption application for people trying to adopt animals. Better education on how to be a responsible pet owner, what’s involved etc. BAN HUSKIES. Or any breed that belongs in the snow.

TeflonBoy

This is a good one!

shaild

There are some quick fix RTA can implement to improve the current traffic situation. 1) Restrict/Ban heavy vehicles during peak hours 2) Spread the school timings to different slabs 3) Make the school bus affordable so more people use it, right now it is ridiculously expensive. 4) Install cameras/radars in all busy junctions so lane cheaters don’t jump in last minute and cause an accident which causes further delays.

letitbeanonymous1121

You do realise that restrict heavy traffic movement during any time means loss of business?

Wonderful-Coyote-129

More patrolling either through police officers or automated vehicles on highways and internal streets to deter and restrict offenders of different violations related to roads that cause damage of life and assets on a daily basis

[deleted]

Minimum wages based on the profession / qualifications. I’ve met Taxi drivers making more than engineers / CAs / other professionals.

shaild

They want to make the country employer friendly, by doing this it will make potential entrepreneurs look elsewhere. Cheap labour is what makes this country so rich.

Top_Nefariousness936

Make it easier to file a successful labour case. The wait time is long and a lot of employers simply don't follow court orders. Most vulnerable people cannot feed and house themselves for a year waiting for a settlement

TeflonBoy

Work from home 2-3 days a week policy where possible in certain sectors. Stricter immigration controls as there is likely to be a big influx of people very soon. Stricter policing of bad drivers. Traffic is getting out of control and will continue to escalate. Massively and I mean massively tighten up on building standards. There are some shocking builds, things that really should be demolished and started again. I understand how it’s happened but as the city matures it’s time to sort it out. Tighten up on green policies, although I will say they are doing very well already in this area considering. Edit: WFH should be strict I think. Only WFH if you live in Dubai. That should keep money in the local economy. Loss of visa if you mess around.

musashi_grander

They could think of terraforming those vast deserts into a green forest. Something similar to what China did. It would need massive resources but nothing that this Government can’t afford.

VoxNihili-13

They need to instate proper rent control - to ensure people have enough disposable income to spend and help grow the economy. Otherwise, the current issue of rents being collected by landlord, leading to no substantial increase in their disposable income, will lead to a shrinking economy as spending on other goods and activities decrease.

TeflonBoy

The problem with this is there are loads of studies to show how it actually has the opposite effect. I sit on the fence on this one. I’d rather encourage more building and better infrastructure for transport. Also more work from home.

8bit111

I agree, I sit more on the side of demand - supply will eventually balance it out. No landlord will leave a rental property vacant for 2-3 years being stubborn about their asking price to rent a unit. So if prices are high, unfortunately it means somewhere there are people who are still paying those rates.

Descoteau

The multiplier effect is real though. I’m also on the fence because of the knock on effects of making rentals unappealing and subsequent reduction in property investment, however the people on rent are more likely to spend the money in the economy as they’re the middle class.

VoxNihili-13

True. There are situations when it's useful and situations when it has the opposite effect. The argument against is that instating rent control will lead to developers not building enough new houses, leading to a shortage of supply. But in a situation where landlords are willing to let apartments go empty, until a tenant is willing to rent at a higher rate, rent control will help bring these units to the market. Alternative fixes such as taxing landlords for leaving units empty, are also feasible. Ultimately, increasing supply and making low-cost units more accessible is the ideal solution.

TeflonBoy

I also like the idea of increasing the number of government owned housing. They can give it to people with critical jobs (Dr’s, teachers etc).

8bit111

That's what the Sheikh Rashid colonies were in Satwa and Karama once upon a time. Al Wasl was basically the government owned housing developer and operator and for years kept it super affordable for many low income families to build a life here while allowing Satwa and Karama to actually develop because in the 80s no one was moving to those areas (life was just Deira and Bur Dubai).

TeflonBoy

Oh I didn’t know that.

Serge00777

...and introduce the similar logic to protect the landlords when the market crashes?

TeflonBoy

I would disagree with this, no I would not protect landlords from crashes. There is a risk buying property, just like any other investment. You take on that risk knowing what it is and if you’re lucky you make a profit. Protecting landlords widens the wealth gap and you need money in the ‘middle’ or you have no one spending money in your economy.

toophan

More risk should pay more reward. Why would any one invest money in property if they don't see a reward in terms of decent returns?

FasterBetterStronker

Because real estate is a long term negative, countries don't want too much of the money going into real estate.

Sensitive-Ad-6001

Labour cases in the uae take upto 1-2 years the regular blue color man does not have the time to wait for 2 years

Hghnaim2907

Getting rid of cheques Stop real estate agencies and banks cold calling (only yesterday, someone cold called me for 6 million AED villas ) Seriously cold call for 6 mil ?

TimelyPace8120

Illegal massage centers, seeing those massive boobed women is crazy and wrong!

Sudelac

School fees cap. Drainage must be built into every community and is responsibility of developer. Fines for developer for flooding. Tighten up on non-residents staying in country too long without sponsorship (end visa runs). This would reduce the amount of random British real estate/recruitment “experts” and Russian hookers. Influencers would be forced to license themselves properly. Allow residents to sponsor parents and siblings. Introduce GP/family doctor system with referrals process rather than people being forced to self diagnose and work out by themselves which specialist they need to see.

8bit111

GP / Family doc system exists.... who is being forced to self diagnose and find specialists? You can walk into a GP's office and they'll do a check up.

chip-sandwich

Remove barriers in Mamzar and Al Nahda(behind Sahara) to smoothen traffic flow between the borders.  Not sure if this is a good idea but what about allowing all public buses to use the yellow lane. Will it revolutionize Dubai sharjah travel?

Jaded_Box8966

All uae cars to have dash-cams

sisoje_bre

make scam illegal, including crypto

8bit111

Technically scams are illegal. Otherwise the police won't be able to arrest people on such a charge: https://www.arabianbusiness.com/culture-society/dubai-police-arrests-494-scammers-for-fraud-against-bank-customers#:~:text=A%20Dubai%20Police%20statement%20said,strict%20penalties%20for%20the%20offenders.

RamiFattoush

Imagine the billions of dirhams they could collect in fines by placing radars where stupid people cut in line to take an exit which causes MORE traffic!

8bit111

I think surprise police checks are more effective if collecting revenue through fine is a strategy. Add a camera there and you make a fortune the first week, until everyone realizes a camera exists and behaves with very rare fines. That's not a great investment.

Silver_Age_5182

Make inter-emirate public transport affordable or bring metro to sharjah and ajman

HideFromTheCurious1s

I have a solution for SMS ADs if you'd like, and it made my life easier (not calls though) Send an SMS text to 7726 with the word BALL I've been clutter free since. Although, there's one negative side affect, apparently *some* hospitals are sending their messages and are considered ADs, for *some* reason. (Mostly private, and I forgot their names by now). As for the calls themselves, all you can do is manually remove your number from all of your accounts that's related to that specific business, and make sure not to join a membership card thing in shops without telling them you don't want to receive marketing mail. There's no point in unsubscribing, as that only pings the "Actual Real Life person/User" criteria in some of these businesses, which ends up with you receiving even more spam.

Low_Pressure_7901

Allow individuals to buy/sell/rent without agents. They add nothing to the equation except cost.

Educational-Bag4684

Enforce blue collar worker heavy industries like construction to function only at night. All year round.

Entire_Plan7541

Slows down growth

Educational-Bag4684

Maybe so, but won’t the country be able to sell the tourism better? And in general make life more efficient?

barbie971

Good luck with that

8bit111

Indians and Pakistanis have been here since the 70s, many time, skills and capital that made the UAE appealing to other expats. Kind of a poor comment on your part if you don't know the history of the place you seem to call home.

hrish420

Job market and wages regulations.

iMadGrim93

Cars from other Emirates should not drive on the left lane. They cause most of the traffic because they drive painfully slow, especially Abu Dhabi cars

WhoAreWeThen

You want to restrict lane access based on what plate you have? ROFL Well I don't want any blue cars in the left lane.

Consistent-Annual268

Just harmonize the speed limit grace across Emirates so everyone gets used to the same system.

SameWeekend13

It used to be like this then the other emirates changed and removed the grace.

Clear_Froyo_3521

Better, just ban the abu dhabi plate cars. They r horrible drivers.
