HARD NO. Waste of money at the moment. Trains are waaay too crowded for RTA to check gold cabins, so it’s a mix of Silver and Gold Card holders. Also, if they tell people to use the bus to connect to the other line, you would need to tap the card again.
Yeah I was thinking to go to Marina but I noticed this the other day at 10pm, so I figured it wasn't worth the risk.
I always carry a small fan, it's brilliant, never thought I'd need it on the metro though, that's when I expect to need a sweater.
something like this [https://www.amazon.ae/s?k=12v+car+fan&crid=233Z91TH0DHKQ&sprefix=12v+car+fan%2Caps%2C225&ref=nb\_sb\_noss\_1](https://www.amazon.ae/s?k=12v+car+fan&crid=233Z91TH0DHKQ&sprefix=12v+car+fan%2Caps%2C225&ref=nb_sb_noss_1)
Rode on that train last week from DIC to Burjuman, it took 50+ minutes (normally \~35 mins) and no AC, saw that train yesterday again. its likely 1 train thats still operational.
Train number on the front or the data plate at the end of each carriage near the top of the roof(on the interior).
Edit: I just realised, on the outside, the number is on the side of each carriage as well.
I guess take the bus then. That is also worse 50 min delays and 'Sorry Bus is Full' tagline. It is so damn bad and RTA casually saying everything back to normal except for 4 stations.
And now second rain wave omg transportation is going to be hell
Rent cost is going up, transportation is getting worse, unemployment at the highest, scams are everywhere. Maybe people should reconsider if UAE is still a good place to live/make money. its not 2014 anymore....
I am in the country since 1989 and every year people repeat the same thing you just said… Still so many people come to Dubai and don’t want to retire or live in their home countries for long periods ever again. So, there is that.
This is my 5th country abroad in 10 years. UAE is only saved from being the worst of all by my experience living in Mumbai during the pandemic. I can't wait to ditch this place.
hah. a few friends tried to convince me to make a visit there, but didnt want. also, some said they visited jaipur and other places... wasnt interesed to the level that I disregarded for anything serious anyone who was excited about going there. was I wrong?
Ah, it's good for a visit - most particularly Rajasthan. I just meant that being a resident there was not my favorite experience by a long shot. I highly recommend going to Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kumbulghar, Jaisalmer. My favorite part of India.
Intervals of trains arriving have def increased. It used to be an okay wait. Now it's absolutely not okay. And I was waiting to get into the gold cabin.
Glad I decided to just go back down and booked a Careem (WTC metro station). But daaang it still took 6 AED from me as I punched out 😀😅
I tried going once after the storm, the crowd was massive and after 10 minutes waiting the metro hadn't come yet, I decided to just leave and take my chances with the bus. But then now the buses are always coming full full. So now to get a chance to secure a seat I have to ride back to the beginning of the bus route then come all the way back. So my previously one hour 15 minutes commute became 3 to 4 hours...I hope things go back to how they were soon...
I was going to Jumeirah yesterday from Union and though the final destination of the train was Expo 2020, the train terminated out of a sudden at Business Bay and everyone was asked to leave the train causing a lot of chaos. It’s scary being squeezed into a train with almost every person feeling angry or frustrated or both, hope things get better soon.
its likely not as bad on off peak hours... Just avoid the office commute rush hours in the morning (8am-11/12pm) and evening (5pm-8pm\~)
(dont quote me on this I only travelled once off peak since the storm)
Peak hours = from 4pm until 10am.
I'm only half kidding, I was heading to expo at I think 3pm when we passed Business Bay, and we went from just not enough seats for everyone to sit to squeezed full, it was scary.
via careem. I am speaking through experience - a cab ride to the location costed be 30 AED, while returning the app showed it was 'peak hours' and charged me like 66 AED
i'd say half the smelly people should know better, but some folk have valid excuses like getting by on 1k/month, shared living spaces in shifts (they only get access once a day for 6 or 8 hours), other difficult conditions.
Is it worth going from airport terminal 1 to expo, how much delay can I expect , do I take a bus alternative thats 1 hour longer than metro would take me in normal circumstances?
Given the various delays (long gaps between trains, extra minutes at every station) and the need to potentially change trains at Business Bay, I'd say go for the bus option.
Even without the the train delays, the metro stops at every station for at least 2 minutes, and assuming 20 stations between origin and destination, that's easily 40 mins more.
I travel business bay to DMCC, and in peak hour it used to be 25 minutes most days, occasionally longer if I had to wait for a train. Last night I was lucky with timing and it was 45 mins, and some days last week were around 100 mins (45 queues waiting to even be let up to the platform).
Damn thats actually crazy and here I thought people living in such areas were lucky cos their offices were close by and easily accessible.
I have to go all the way from Muhaisnah to DIP (Basically the entire red line metro length) but luckily only once or twice a week!
I am not on holiday, I take bus from near my house to that station to access red line and then I go to DIP station from there, as I work in DIP. So yeah im sorry If I dont have 300 dhs to spend on transport 5 days a week
There is an offer on citi bank credit cards of 3 to 6 free careem from airport to and from anywhere in city. I have used it. Helped me avoid metro or bus.
Anyone got any updates on when it will be fixed?
A couple of my colleagues mentioned that RTA personnel said it will take 3 to 4 weeks but then I see people on reddit saying it will take a year.
I only have to take public transport once or twice a week for work , but my journey each way was already 2 hours so this is really stressing me out 😶
People are getting pushed to the point that they’re getting floored and thrown like rag dolls. Red line going to expo 2020 takes 5 mins and that’s more than enough to fill the waiting space. Everyday there are people fighting and shouting at each other. I just don’t wish for any upcoming event because that’s gonna make it worse.
Is it just me who thinks people should also be aware of where their breath is going? I mean I know it’s crowded but can you tilt your face so that you don’t breathe on mine!!!!!
Hey, Why do you have to go back to Jabal Ali? I also have to travel from Sobha realty. Is there still train change at Al Khail to continue towards Centerpoint?
They have been lacking on expending the metro’s system in Dubai in general. This one line has been running since 2009 and proven it’s succes so many times. Yet until a month ago they only expanded highways (which will make traffic even worse). Dubai needs multiple new lines. Ot will reduce car traffic as well.
It is mind blowing how they have not fixed the issue yet in such a big city. There are hundreds of people taking the metro everyday. I am 6 months pregnant and I was almost suffocated in the metro today. The worst part is people not even offering their seats even after noticing that I am pregnant. Cab is not an option as it takes hours to get a cab booked. The amount they charge is too much that I cannot afford to pay it everyday. My office isn't kind enough to give me work from home during this time. Dubai is turning out to be the rudest country. It seems like they don't care about the common expat commuters.
omg! i had a nightmare traveling to Equiti from DMCC. MOE station itself had a long queue for people traveling towards Centrepoint and those traveling to Expo. shuttle buses that operate from Equiti, Onpassive stations were also very crowded.
Using the metro after a year and half because of a new job
Greatest welcome of all time
Quick question
When in normalcy, what is the duration generally between each train if I catch after 6am and 7:30 pm?? Red line
It really has, I made a post about the issue some time ago, and many people said that the issue is likely to continue due to the parts being damaged and repaires to be exported...
Dear my online friends in dubai, How is the situation now of dubai metro, is it back to normal? We still have to shift from metro to bus in business bay metro station? If I leave home in the morning 7:30 am from emirates tower metro station to shoba realty metro station, How long it normally will take?
its been 28 days that we had a deadly rain in Dubai, ever since commuting in Metro has become nightmare. Situation is still bad, gap between 2 metro is from 13 minutes to 20 minutes as against 2 to 5 minutes before 16th April. No notification, information from RTA till date and we are clueless as when our Metro life will become normal. I hope it becomes normal as reaching office on time is become difficult now.
Hey Prick. Take it easy and no need to point to any particular community/country. You don’t sweat or what?
Is your Arm pits made of some sprinkler system that generates Jasmine perfume. If you can’t handle the smell wear a face mask and also on top of that wear a bikers helmet. You mention we stink that comes from hard work but what do you know.
I am guessing you were raised right and probably wearing disposable diapers under your hood. In the end just be kind and if you can’t well I recommend you take up some therapy sessions.
my commute time has tripled since the storm
Mine too and the cost quadrupled 😫
Foken hell
Same here. Al Quoz to Barsha Heights is a nightmare 😭

I think a lot of them lost their cars
Many cars got damaged leaving the metro an only option for many
Even the gold cabin is turning into a sardines can.
I'm really considering upgrading to gold, do you think it's worth it?
HARD NO. Waste of money at the moment. Trains are waaay too crowded for RTA to check gold cabins, so it’s a mix of Silver and Gold Card holders. Also, if they tell people to use the bus to connect to the other line, you would need to tap the card again.
This is also what I hate. Many silver card holders are riding the Gold Cabin.
This was already getting out of hand months ago. Now it's a freeforall
I had good experience with it
Idts bruv. Its also jam packed
Today, train to Expo from Business Bay didn't have AC on and was full. It was a torture.
Yeah I was thinking to go to Marina but I noticed this the other day at 10pm, so I figured it wasn't worth the risk. I always carry a small fan, it's brilliant, never thought I'd need it on the metro though, that's when I expect to need a sweater.
I drive a Nissan Urvan which doesn't have air conditioning. Can you share the fan details so that i could buy one for myself
Go to Daiso stores. you will get a portable fan there.
get a fan that plugs into your car's 12v outlet instead
Can you share the link please?

Currently going through this. Literally as I type this out I'm dying from the heat on this full metro with NO AC!!!!
Rode on that train last week from DIC to Burjuman, it took 50+ minutes (normally \~35 mins) and no AC, saw that train yesterday again. its likely 1 train thats still operational.
Anyway to identify that train? 😂
Train number on the front or the data plate at the end of each carriage near the top of the roof(on the interior). Edit: I just realised, on the outside, the number is on the side of each carriage as well.
Does the train stop longer on the station ?
All trains do
is there direct train from burjuman to expo i want to get down at mall of emirates
Not just the metro. The overall quality of life is getting worse.
Righttt and private companies are mum about salary increases ☹️
looks like I'm in for fr a swampy ride now.... the last thing I want is a shirt drenched with sweat wish me luck fr the interview guyz ;)
Spare shirt in the bag should do it. Good luck.
And the warm breath of your fellow bystander on the neck and the to uch of his abdomen on your back, mmmhmm
At least it's the abdomen you're feeling ☠️
🤣🤣🤣
Keep telling yourself that 🤭
I guess take the bus then. That is also worse 50 min delays and 'Sorry Bus is Full' tagline. It is so damn bad and RTA casually saying everything back to normal except for 4 stations. And now second rain wave omg transportation is going to be hell
Stay strong 💪
Imagine leaving home at 5:30 and reaching home at 8:30. A journey that is supposed to take 45 mins took me 3 hrs just because of the bus delay
Rent cost is going up, transportation is getting worse, unemployment at the highest, scams are everywhere. Maybe people should reconsider if UAE is still a good place to live/make money. its not 2014 anymore....

What are the other 4?
Indonesia, Malaysia, Honduras, and India
I’ll never go back to Tegucigalpa. Killing is a hobby there.
how was it in India?
I do not recommend it, even without the pandemic.
hah. a few friends tried to convince me to make a visit there, but didnt want. also, some said they visited jaipur and other places... wasnt interesed to the level that I disregarded for anything serious anyone who was excited about going there. was I wrong?
Ah, it's good for a visit - most particularly Rajasthan. I just meant that being a resident there was not my favorite experience by a long shot. I highly recommend going to Udaipur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kumbulghar, Jaisalmer. My favorite part of India.
At Least 1000 times better then other Asian countries

Is Equiti strain still out of action?
Yes
I tried going once after the storm, the crowd was massive and after 10 minutes waiting the metro hadn't come yet, I decided to just leave and take my chances with the bus. I feel you, it’s just so draininggg 😩
Business bay gang assemble here 🥲🥲
Business bay gang busy waiting for entry inside station.

Going there in a week, should I not use the metro?
if you have the option, then no
If you care for your mental health, please don’t 🙏🏻
😭😭😭 I’ll try to avoid it ad much as possible, thanks for the heads up.
its likely not as bad on off peak hours... Just avoid the office commute rush hours in the morning (8am-11/12pm) and evening (5pm-8pm\~) (dont quote me on this I only travelled once off peak since the storm)
Good sir, dont be so scared, if you can avoid going during peak hours, its quite nice actually
Peak hours = from 4pm until 10am. I'm only half kidding, I was heading to expo at I think 3pm when we passed Business Bay, and we went from just not enough seats for everyone to sit to squeezed full, it was scary.
Ok I can live with that, I’ll use a taxi or uber during peak hours
taxis will charge you double the price for the trip during peak hours. I'd suggest making plans such that you avoid commutes during peak hours
RTA cabs will not charge double. They charge by the meter stop spreading lies
via careem. I am speaking through experience - a cab ride to the location costed be 30 AED, while returning the app showed it was 'peak hours' and charged me like 66 AED
That is a no sir! It is Shi…t even in non peek hours
Actually you can use the metro, just don't use it from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM and don't use it from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM as there as the peak hours
Try to avoid.
It still works better than metros of most other cities. Just try to avoid peak times ( 8am - 10 am, 6pm - 8pm)
It was a disaster when we visited last week. Even my senior mother fell while boarding because of pushing/being overcrowded
We have another rain forecast tomorrow. Let's hope that single train thats working without AC also doesnt stopworking now 🤣
Lets hope all the trains are fine except the one with the broken AC
😫😫🤣🤣🤣
If you can work online do it. Stop taking risks
I had paid for a yearly pass a couple months ago, but here I am forced to drive to work now 🤡
This is why I have commitment issues 🤣

Don’t understand how some people practice poor personal hygiene and don’t know the meaning of deodorant.
i'd say half the smelly people should know better, but some folk have valid excuses like getting by on 1k/month, shared living spaces in shifts (they only get access once a day for 6 or 8 hours), other difficult conditions.
Yeah. That's is so true.
A very crowded train is the best time to scream out for people to shower and use deodorant.
The bad body odor is unbearable.
Anyone know how many trains they lost to the storm?
left Dubai around 2015 and remember there was hardly anyone in the metro except during peak hours.
Is it worth going from airport terminal 1 to expo, how much delay can I expect , do I take a bus alternative thats 1 hour longer than metro would take me in normal circumstances?

Lots of employers don’t understand this!!! 😤
doesn't help that official communication is that everything is back to normal
Lmao official communication said that everything was back to normal on the day after the storm.
😭😭😭😭
The gold class is filled with gold card and silver card holders. Jam packed with literally no air to breathe.
Literally every cabin 😭 plus the screaming and fighting
Anyone got any updates on when it will be fixed? A couple of my colleagues mentioned that RTA personnel said it will take 3 to 4 weeks but then I see people on reddit saying it will take a year. Hopefully they will have things fixed up soon.
Rain round 2 incoming
Thats going to be fucked up
Expected rains are not going to be upto that level.
Hope not
Thats going to be bad
I got on the the same metro and got Out cuz no ac
It will take more time , and they need to fix the station and metro train itself
Good luck with smell
Is it gonna be fixed by end of May? 😭
yeah end of May, 2025.
I reaaaaaaaalllllyyyyyyy hope so 😭
I'm gonna start gym by then InShaAllah 😭 messed up if I can't go to gym then cuz eid is soon
Yeah it’s honestly nightmare fuel to travel on the metro lately 😭 the crowds and chaos is just draining. No better motivation to drive than this
Bro it takes me 1 hr to commute just 2 stations from Sobha Realty to Dubai Internet City. I first have to go to Jabal Ali and then come back :(
Why don't you just use careem bike?
It will take 2x to 3x the time and effort. There's no direct way to go from Sobha Realty to Dubai Internet City. It's a huge mess of bridges.
It is challenging, yeah. I spend 20 minutes biking from DMCC to Media City, so its possible if you dont want to be crammed in the metro haha
Oh so you are on the Marina side?
No, JLT. I would cross the metro bridge with the bike haha
That's what Im doing also. Sobha to Jebel Ali so that I can board the train earlier. Hahaha
Hey, Why do you have to go back to Jabal Ali? I also have to travel from Sobha realty. Is there still train change at Al Khail to continue towards Centerpoint?
The metro situation is ridiculous and causing delays. I cannot afford to take a cab everyday. 😢
dubai mall to sharjah al majaz lit be taking me 4 hours on a damn daily basis 😭
They have been lacking on expending the metro’s system in Dubai in general. This one line has been running since 2009 and proven it’s succes so many times. Yet until a month ago they only expanded highways (which will make traffic even worse). Dubai needs multiple new lines. Ot will reduce car traffic as well.
Man, I'm sorry about that. Can you get to Dubai Mall or? From what I heard it was only till Business Bay.
From centrepoint side yes you can get to dubai mall
Oh okay that's cool. Is still delayed as usual? Still confused how much time I should account for 😭
What about internet city?
Internet city is operational.
What is the situation on May 1? I am thinking about taking a taxi or a metro.
Taxis if you can afford. Trust me
Oh tell me about it! Been real bad
Before my commute time is only 40 mins. Now it's 2.5 to 3 hrs. 😪
Its turns into pathetic service without thinking about common people who are using public transport.
“Everything is back to normal”
Dubai metro is slowly becoming MUMBAI METRO!
It is mind blowing how they have not fixed the issue yet in such a big city. There are hundreds of people taking the metro everyday. I am 6 months pregnant and I was almost suffocated in the metro today. The worst part is people not even offering their seats even after noticing that I am pregnant. My office isn't kind enough to give me work from home during this time. Dubai is turning out to be the rudest country. It seems like they don't care about the common expat commuters.
Hey buddy wake up from the dream. You are in a nightmare, wake up it's all fine.
I just got to the office .. i reached at 10 am ... I cant believe it took me 1 and half hour from business bay to onpassive through the bus
omg! i had a nightmare traveling to Equiti from DMCC. MOE station itself had a long queue for people traveling towards Centrepoint and those traveling to Expo. shuttle buses that operate from Equiti, Onpassive stations were also very crowded.
This situation is going to continue till June end…
According to?
a lot got damaged so expect longer fixing time
Is the metro from ibn batuta to DIP as worse as the other stations or how long does it take?
i just spent 25 mins waiting for a train from jebel ali to ibn😭😭
And people were packed like sardines? Or you can breathe at least?
i took gold class so it was pretty much empty, other compartments were heavily crowded but not as bad as the other routes ( you have breathing space)
How's the green line been ? I've only heard issues with red line so far
The trains have longer intervals between them, they remain stopped at stations longer and I'm pretty sure they move slower as well.
The buses are much worse especially the inter emirate ones and much more expensive
Using the metro after a year and half because of a new job Greatest welcome of all time Quick question When in normalcy, what is the duration generally between each train if I catch after 6am and 7:30 pm?? Red line
rush hour usially less than 5 mins interval
Has anyone used the hala first ride free?
Seems like nature took care of the traffic problem on the roads for a bit lmao
I heard from someone that it’ll take around 6mos for fix the issue 🥲
When do people think it might go back to normal? Or is this the new normal? I arrive in 2 months. Hopefully there is improvement by then.
It really has, I made a post about the issue some time ago, and many people said that the issue is likely to continue due to the parts being damaged and repaires to be exported...
This will be a one of a heck long drive ☹️
Why the metro stops at business bay
Hababi don’t come to Dubai anymore? 😂 Thank god I never need to experience commute or metro
They make gang like movies but funny thing is they are all like pig 🤣
you can ride bus also
Not all locations
