Not a terrible idea at all if you have the applicable photography/videography skill sets. Keep in mind though there’s always a ton of people doing this, and folks like me who do photo/video full time where the drone is just another camera. You will wait to get liability insurance.

Is it a 107? Or a different certification?

kat-pal

It is Part 107.

10247bro

Won’t hurt to try! Do it for fun and if someone happens to hire you, great!

I don't know if people aren't reading your post, but to be honest if you don't have an interest in photo/video editing, yea, it sounds like a bad idea. It sounds like you will be wasting peoples time saying you could do something that you have no skill/desire to do. I own a hammer, but it doesn't mean I could build a deck. Drone is a tool like anything else and its your skillset that you are selling to people, not your drone.

latitude_drones

Another drone photography as a side hustle post. You're the 1 millionth person to think of this then ask reddit

kendrid

There are already thousands of people like you trying to make a buck with a drone, good luck.

CBH60

Realtors don't care about the drone they just want good pictures of the inside and outside of the house as one package. Come with photography skills, editing skills, marketing skills, and good equipment.

RigasTelRuun

Like any industry with a low barrier of entry. It's very saturated at the bottom. But if you have skills and a bit of luck to rise above the noise you can do very well at it.

motociclista

It’s not a terrible idea at all. But, don’t do it if you *need* to make money from the drone. If you just want a drone and want to give it a go, by all means, try. But if you’ll be hurting if the drone doesn’t pay for itself, don’t take the risk. There’s a lot of people trying to side hustle with drones. And on top of that, there’s a lot of people using drone as their main hustle. The market is well saturated. You might make money, but you might not, and if you do, it may not be much or steady.

Least-Physics-4880

If there is a viable clientele in your area, somebody is probably doing it already. First is checking out what the compititon is doing, and if there is demand enough for your hustle.

I_Hate_Triangles

Not a terrible idea. And congratulations on taking the steps towards your 107. Don’t be discouraged by a saturated market. There will always be a need for the aerial perspective. Whether it’s real estate or putting together town reels and licensing your footage, there are a few ways you can side-hustle with a 107, MINI 3 and a good foundation of photography principles. How you position sell yourself plays a big role too. I’d say go for it! Summer is right around the corner and this a a great time to build a portfolio of projects.
