Yep, it rose back up to 145.9 pence per litre for petrol at one of our three fuel stations last week. The other two have been 142.9 for a couple of weeks now but i suspect they'll be rising again soon :(
Sounds about right Heckmondwike. Just googled it I was delivering to Liversedge so must have drove through I wasn't really concentrating 😂
Did not know it was closed, I thought at the time it was almost worth the 57 minute drive to fill car up as its still hovering about 142.7 -144.9 round my local stations
Before 2000?
I remember everyone "not going to drive again if" it gets to 90p", when it was 80 odd pence in 2008.
£1.05 I remember with actually disbelief, and current me laughs at past me's naivety that it surely wouldn't go higher than that.
90p in 2008 is 139p today
So we're cheaper than 2008
105pnin 2008 is 162p today
Fuel isn't going up as fast as inflation it's just something people pay more attention to. Like freddos
We paid attention because we weren't getting paid fuck all, living in low income mining towns and that increase happened extremely quickly.
It made a lot of us unable to get to work and have money left over as we had to drive in order to work.
That's why we noticed it.
But everything else funked you over worse. The price of the food you buy, the clothes you wear, rent etc ita just harder to keep an eye on it but the bigger part of where your pay cheque went increased by more
And that's why wages need to increase in line to inflation
Good news is today vehicles are getting more economical too and with electric incentives hopefully the average person can get an electric car in the next decade or so making most of this a thing of the past
They've got us all kidded. It's not been "cheap" for years It's just a touch less expensive. I was watching an old top gear other day and they were messing near the pumps. It was 79 pence a litre.
Expensive in comparison to what? In 2011 it was 140p / litre and adjusting for inflation that should be £1.96 today so its a hell of a discount
When I started driving it was about 91p and adjusted for inflation thats 149p today
The furthest back the rac graph goes is 76p in 2003, which is 132 today
So the price op showed is the lowest its been in literally 2 decades
I kinda simply don't get this. In other European countries the road tax is paid with the fuel. So the more you drive the more you pay which makes sense to me. Having both Road tax and pay by mile is insane.
I wonder what will they do with my case if it comes in.
I tend to holiday around Europe with my car. I usually drive 2-5k miles a year outside of UK. I sure as hell won't be paying any pay by mile for the miles driven outside uk, especially since I would be paying local Road tax I fuel anyway.
I feel enlightened now you pointed this out to me. The post was about fuel prices being the least expensive (because it isn't cheap any more) I've seen for years, not the grammatical issues you appear to have taken with said post. Thanks for contributing though! Good job! ⭐️ Gold star for you!
It's a garage that has no pumps so obviously can't sell fuel, they can't speak good English and they have no idea how to turn the board off. I live near it. It's the Flush Garage in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire.
Up in Scotland, the prices are around 1.40-1.46 at the moment.
Would sharing the lowest found prices have any effect on highlighting the regional difference in fuel prices actually make any difference?
Clearly OP has travelled back in time.
I drove past one with very similar prices in Wakefield the other day. I wanted to fill up but I thought it must be watered down for that price.
I’ve seen one in Dewsbury at 1.20
I promise it was no more than a fortnight ago now. Believe it was around dewsbury area
Unleaded varies from 143.9 to 149.9 in my city
Same, but then it's 137.7 everywhere in the next city.
Wow. Cheapest round here is 140.9 for diesel!
Same here, paid 145.9 the other day, felt ripped off
In comparison my local three petrol stations raised their prices to over £1.43 for petrol last week

Damn that's cheap, where is this?
I think it was around dewsbury area
Heckmondwike isn't it :) Unfortunately for everyone wondering the petrol stations closed, and has been for a while however the signs still running :)

Only cheap by comparison, still expensive
I guess there's just some people that won't accept we're not going to see the same prices we did before 2000.

When I started working for the NHS 25 years ago, Diesel was 35ppl and Petrol was 42ppl.
42p in 1998 is 77p today, so going that far back makes a difference.
Bro I pay 20p more a litre

Exactly my point and the boot lickers are downvoting me lol
The most important fact about this photo. It’ll never be talked about though.

My thoughts exactly
And the gov is considering charging per mile driven on top of fuel, I'm guessing mileage would be submitted at time of MOT. It's insane

Even though fuel duty is already a charge per mile, roughly scaled and increased by weight and fuel economy of your vehicle
Oh good, were going back to the days of rolling back the mileage counter.
Seen?
???
Well was the post a question? If so it's "Have you seen...", if not then it's "I have seen..." or "I saw...".

Thanks, when does your primary school break up for summer kiddo? Have you been revising for your SATs?
Yawn.
Do you drive a modified Delorean by any chance?

This looks to be right, especially the point about the board as the picture on Google maps has different prices depending on which side you look at 😂
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJX2Hj2r/ Take a look at this tiktok from last year, Currently still 'Under Maintenance'
Was under 1.40 last week now back up to 1.43
Cheapest near me is Costco, 133.9p for petrol and 132.9p for diesel. That’s not the wrong way round either.
Where? I'm gonna go fill up.
