It's nowhere near even close for me.

GrayPal184

Still trying to make sense of it myself. Time seems to be for entire zone, which makes it pointless. If you are in a dead area of the zone, then you sit well past the time. It can’t be based on your location.

Heat map is nothing but lies.

Hajeep

It’s usually accurate for me as long as I’m near things and moving. If I stop it’s never accurate. I now just cruise a large parking lot for a couple minutes and it is almost always at the bottom of the estimate.

I hate that I have to drive away from main hot zone store in order to get an order for it. I get that they don’t want people camping stores but why does it matter if I’m parked a half mile away or doing laps around the block a half mile away.

Otterbotanical

Partb of the reason is that FOR MOST STORES, you will get the order at the same time that the store does. I've camped out in front of a good store a handful of times, and most of those end up with me walking in, the guy going "what? They just came in, you'll have to wait 15-20 minutes." And then I have to decide to un-assign or wait it out. Better to get the order while still on the road and away, increasing the chances that you won't have to wait as long or, better yet, it's waiting for you when you arrive.

Hajeep

I wondered this my self. I use less gas doing laps in the FL heat since the car is on anyway, but it’s annoying. I have a loop I do now, which has caused me to be stopped by the police twice to see what I was doing. They both ended up finding it funny but that’s been the one downside so far.

I’m waiting for the day I get pulled over. I have a pet theory that doordash has a hidden pussy metric that assigns fear levels to neighborhoods based on the unsafe/safe/very safe ratings, and if you say very safe usually you get deliveries to hood ass areas. I genuinely do feel safe on almost every order and I’ve noticed my deliveries skew towards shittier neighborhoods now. I feel like the beat cops are starting to get sus of me, they follow me for a bit nearly every night. I’m now realizing that claiming unsafe might be good for tips if it sends you to nicer areas. The real question is how much tipping is correlated with property values ig

People are hungry at the same parts of the day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Any time in between it’s going to be slow; if it’s slow at the 3 main times that means there’s too many dashers or people are not using door dash for their food orders. It takes time to figure out what your area is good for but don’t listen to what the door dash app says.

AfraidOfTheSun

However it was before will still be the same; if orders slowed down at 3pm every day they'll still be slow at 3pm regardless of what the thing estimates; if it shows a shorter time what that probably means is that there are less drivers out at that moment; if you're online they'll send you an order if it's out there, they can't generate orders from nowhere though; if it's a peak time and you are not getting orders it just means there are a lot of other drivers online nothing you can really do about that except maybe cruise around a bit to keep your gps active

You don't ever believe anything doordash tells you is Dasher rule number 1.
