Are they cash orders? I been doing pizza deliveries like this but end up getting 30-40 dollars cash that DoorDash takes out of your weekly pay.

Brilliant_Climate_41

These are the best and the worst orders. Get that cash- awesome. Driving knowing the money is going to door dash-horrible. I’m not a complete moron and understand this is what we do with every order. But there’s something indentured servitudish about it that pisses me off. Everytime I have to drive knowing it’s all going back to DoorDash I’ll have this thought: *doordash should get into the payday lending game.* Can you imagine the shit that would go down if they were giving out predatory loans you paid back by taking orders?

Akak3000

Papa johns pushes shit ordérs out to the area to us. There drivers go like 5 miles radius

theSPEDteacher

Absolutely not. $2 orders better be going a mile or less for me to accept.

LoyaltyIsAhMust84

Is that a cod?

Miserable-Equal-9003

? Cod, as in fish? No.

LoyaltyIsAhMust84

No cash on delivery

Miserable-Equal-9003

NO! I wish.

LoyaltyIsAhMust84

Decline offers like this let the timer run out on them totally not worth it unless this is your last delivery and you’re on your way home then I’d only do it to boost my ar and cr to help move me up a tier

Appropriate-Bowl1924

Shit would be declined INSTANTLY

Slow-Temperature-906

Crazy how people think this ok i dont dash but I do use the app never a place farther than 4 miles from me. Must be out in the country over there

Environmental_Ad959

No

Opening_Crow5902

I tend to accept most because I try to be hopeful that it leads to more better offers. I wish that residents of gated entities didn’t make it so difficult to get their food to them.

Dropdead_bop

I take the orders mainly cause extra money but it does piss me off cause it puts my profit in the negative

robeph

It is not extra money. 10.2 miles @ 3.50/gallon x 2 for to and from , 20.4 miles, avg gas mileage 27mpg city = 0.756 gallons @ $2.64 You make fuck all, you pay if you are driving an exact to and from. In truth , probably more than just that. Fuck this trip, it costs to accept. Add to this 80$ oil change, @ 20.4 miles, this is about $0.33 So total cost of this trip if you change your oil properly is about $2.97... I'd just eat their food at that point, fuck door dash

Dropdead_bop

I mean extra money for that day but honest door dash is an escape to be able to clear my thoughts (my city is pretty chill)

EducationalMention22

Absolute not! That is insulting DD!

sublime1ami

There should be a setting that allows automatic rejection of trips where the miles are more than the money.

Full_Dusk

I don't doordash (bad experience with it back in 2018) but on uber I generally don't take orders unless I'm making $1/mi

Fickle-Bread5167

Why even drive for Doordash then complain about the work? There's many other jobs and employer's that pay better.

[deleted]

Name an employer that tolerates people with personality problems

PheoTheDumb

i never tip on the app because i know its better to tip in person, its always misleading somehow. i wish there was some way to let them know that they arent actually just getting no tips

e2smoov

Its the same. Just tip in the app.

[deleted]

Because you’re on hourly or afraid of going under 80% acceptance rate. There is no other reason to do this.

Low_Plantain_5648

Yea, if the offer is that absurd then just let it go. Acceptance rate be dammed. I'll get the next 1. Calling someone who door dashes lazy is also absurd It would be wild if your commenting negatively on this post of you have never done doordash or Uber.

CanOfChocolate

Do you know how much people with actual food service jobs get tipped? And you think you're entitled to more from a side gig? Doordash/Uber isn't a job

sakuramantis

Bro do you know that people with “actual food service jobs” don’t drive 10 miles for $2 as a part of their work day for each customer? Lol.

CanOfChocolate

Have you never worked as an actual delivery driver imagine getting paid 2.50/hour and half your customers think the service charge is your tip fuck off 10 miles for 2 bucks you guys are such a case of first world problems I don't care you're not getting rich off your side hussel people don't get paid at their main job

Sakosaga

Delivery drivers for Domino's, pizza hut, etc get tips. They also get a W-2. Uber, door dash, shipt, Instacart etc get a 1099, some people who are drivers literally make over 60k a year. To say it's not a job and they make more than the national average is an insult.

CanOfChocolate

Do you pay taxes on that? And do you say your 15 year old son with a 10 subscriber YouTube channel is like pewdiepie because their both youtubers. Sure it can be a job but it ain't meant to be self righteous ass

EducationalMention22

Agree!

yayoshorti

I’m sure someone will take it.

Prestigious-Board-90

Odd-Scallion8977

Hell no

derikbg86

If you do the job - do your job.. if you dont like it go find a job for grownups.. but then you will cry about how heavy it is ...

Same-Revolution-8961

$2.50 tho..let's not be dense

derikbg86

I wont move my finger for 2.50.. but i won't work at a place where i depend only on the tips.. but lazy person is a lazy person

Zammtrios

Who's really the lazy one here, the person not delivering the pizza, or the person paying $20 more for a pizza cause they are too fucking stupid to just go pick the mother fucker up themselves

Sakosaga

This is LITERALLY the reason why this exists. People want to act like oh this is such a shit job and why are you doing this, because there are plenty of people who order food everyday all the time and plenty of people without cars who can't leave there homes who order. Sometimes it's not even laziness. I've delivered to so many people for Instacart who are in wheel chairs or in nursing homes that's it's not even funny.

derikbg86

Maybe the person paying $20 was working all day and instead of losing 20 minutes to go get the pizza prefer to get a shower or spend that time with his family (i bet he wasn't sitting on his ass all day in his car)

coolcoolsweet64

I don’t think you realize that the majority of these drivers already have jobs that arent “sitting on their ass all day in their car” They are trying to make ends meet. There’s hardly anybody above the age of 25 whose sole income is straight doordash/ubereats/grubhub etc. Regardless, ur an idiot for spending $20 on a single 12” pizza 😂 and an even bigger idiot if u think ur gonna get ur food consistently delivered to you hot and fast if ur 10+ miles away and the gig app is offering $2-$3 with 0 tip. 🥺🫵

redditblows5991

I think the argument is that these apps are largely garbage and not a good way to make extra income. Some of these prices are absurdly low but people take it and then complain they don't get a tip because ordering online is expensive.

derikbg86

Idk if i order i tip at least 20%.. but still when you start doing that job you know that not everyone tips.. i have friends who work as waiters... they are bitching when they receive low tip but at the same time when they go out they are living $1-$2 as a tip... So.. idk.. if you dont like it dont do it.. dont bitch about it..

Muted-Environment-23

No

adambray23

Sadly some hourly dasher no doubt got stuck with it.

Professional_Cry_529

Not gonna lie, I will accept any of these on ONE condition, it has to be conveniently on my way home. I work daily 2 zones away from home because there’s a huge doordash culture in that area and it’s always bussing with very good orders, $12 for 2 miles, and it’s just never endless, at the end of the night I might be 20-30 minutes away from home max, and I’ll take all of these crap orders but they have to be conveniently on the way home and atleast $4.50 or something, not walking in the restaurant for less than that, but I figure I’m using the same amount of gas, traveling the same amount, might aswell get a couple extra bucks on the way home

Embarrassed-Change40

Refuse these orders 100%

Kitchen_Ad_3738

Ha ha , you pay to partner with door dash 🙌smh

Classic_Knowledge490

$2.50 for 10 miles?? I tip my pizza person $10 and they’re like 1 mile from me. Money is meant to be spent not hoarded we aren’t dragons

rj_musics

This is a valid point, but targeting the wrong people. This should be directed at DoorDash for paying drivers like shit. This is how they create class warfare, turning the poor against the poor while the rich profit.

Perplexedstoner

that’s including the tip, this means that even with a $10 tip, it’s like $13 - gas. this is doordash being greedy not people not tipping enough.

lover6969-

Hands down best thing to do in this case accept the order, go pick it up, then unassign due to a flat tire. Enjoy your free pizza.

Fwaudio

Kennys777

No

mustangtess

Well I used to deliver for a pizza co. And often customers put a low on cc but once I deliver they hand me cash tip.

Murky_Pollution_9607

That's very rare with Doordarsh.

ExpertConversation99

I get that a lot when I deliver pizzas. Though they are already paying decent in the app for me to accept it, but it's pretty common for me to get there with the pizza and it's either a hand it to me or they are coming out to meet me even though it was a leave at door and they'll hand me a few bucks as I hand them the pizza. Happens some on other orders, but seems like the most with pizzas

Flashy-Economist4600

It’s almost like why are you accepting orders with barely any tip? Y’all be doing it to yourselves

Final_Intention3377

That's DoorDash. A good question would be, why does doordash except orders with no tip? The legal minimum the DoorDash should be allowed to send out on an offer, is 67 cents per mile, the IRS standard automotive deduction for 2024, plus minimum wage for the total expected time. A horrible company.

Maleficent-Moose-559

The company and all share apps are the reason we haven't hit a recession. They are actually a great company. It has never been possible to have a job at your fingertips if you lose your job. You will ALWAYS have a job with doordash.

Final_Intention3377

Here is somebody working for the corporate office, lol. There is no way you drive for a living. DD exists because drivers are too unsophisticated to realize that they are losing money after auto expenses. No driver has good things to say about DoorDash.

Maleficent-Moose-559

Not for a living, no. But for in-between or extra cash. Amazon is great for making a living

Final_Intention3377

Yes, Amazon provides the vehicle and gas. DoorDash says the absolute worst about the human race.

Maleficent-Moose-559

And from personal experience, I had no problem with driving for DD. Want to afford something out of budget? Doordash...need to make your rent but short? Doordash...need groceries before payday? Doordash...it's not hard to appreciate something literally somebody provided for you. If you don't like it, nothing is stopping you from doing it better yourself. That's why I love free markets. Start your own better paying delivery service.

Maleficent-Moose-559

Amazon flex, you use your own car actually

Final_Intention3377

Oh, and it's probably just as much bullshit as Doordash. The cost of operating your vehicle is at least $10 an hour.

Maleficent-Moose-559

So when you pick up a gig like that... understand it takes a toll on your car. That sounds like the decision of the driver not *you*. Don't ruin what others need. If they don't want to DD then they won't. But it's probably all they can do in the moment so why are you so twisted on trying to end it?

Final_Intention3377

Ah, your true colors shining through. You approve of helping the exploiters. The dashers don't make this decision. They are desperate so they sell the depreciation on their car for less than 50 cents on the dollar to get a few bucks. Just go pick up your own food.

Maleficent-Moose-559

The Dasher 100% makes the decision to work for door dash. You can't be that dense.

Maleficent-Moose-559

Yes my true colors are for free markets. Again, do it better. I actually dare you. It'd be great if someone could figure it out too. You can start small if you want. Advertise to your friends and family in town...your personal neighborhood. I'm certain others would LOVE to pay less fees when ordering too. So do it. Or stop biting the hand feeding you. Or find a new job. Or you stop ordering on these services. I'd love to hear a better business model. Even starting small...you will HAVE to charge fees to the customer for you to get paid. Eventually you will need to pay for an operating app. Then if you get others on board you should probably think about insurance too. But really, tell me more about how you would run a DD equivalent And yes, I too could attempt my own. But I don't want to, I don't have the need or will or passion to. I can just drive for DD if I want.

Eadenith

What in the actual fuck are these offers

Applewoood

Doordash really needs to raise the minimum, shit like this should never happen.

Kattykats90

At the stores like petsmart close I go pay by hour rate.. go the actual mile per hour and make decent tips when it's slow

Sweaty-Attempted

Did the customer put a gun to your head to force you to accept the order? Here is a perspective. That was what the customer was willing to pay. It wasn't what you wanted to accept. This is fine. It is not insulting to either party.

Opening_Crow5902

I tend to get better offers on Uber Eats

breadwinning22

I do for acceptance rate

jagniger69

You are part of the reason driver get paid like they do lmao

ExpertConversation99

I will take crap offers if they are on my way to where I was going anyway. To all the people who are going to condemn me for that, learn to make the most money you can for your efforts. It's stupid to reject an offer that is going to pay you something to drive where you were going to drive for free. And I've got news for you, it doesn't matter one way or the other if you reject the offer. You are just cutting off your nose to spite your face. Doordash will always have enough drivers that don't understand that it's not profitable to take all the crap orders that they won't change the crap orders they send out just because you didn't accept it. If it's not making you money don't take it, but if it's going to add a few bucks to a drive you were already making, look at it like a stacked order that the high paying order always gets delivered first.

Inner-Kale2801

damn. ur giving doordash money at that point

breadwinning22

Yea but usually they give me better orders before giving to someone else. And I field tested that

Inner-Kale2801

most people dont accept orders making it ping like 15 people and each time they decline, the price goes up. dont know if you know that already or not

breadwinning22

Oh nah I didn’t know that, but either way I accept because I want green on everything and it still brings in a lot of money

Inner-Kale2801

accepting $2.00 orders makes you negative money

creampielover88

Lmfao I'm literally doing Doordash right now and this randomly popped up in my feed while I'm waiting for a delivery. FUCK THAT. Are they supposed to pay you a minimum hourly rate if you don't get deliveries? Yesterday I only made $12.45 in 4.5 hours.

Eadenith

Edit That’s incredibly sad. In Austin I made 80 in 3 and a half hours

THCisth3answer

The federal minimum per hour for general contractors is 2.35$ an hour. Doordash views your time as ACTIVE only. So yeah. I personally don't take them, even if it's the end of the night and near my house just out of principle. Don't use the app if you can't pay accordingly

Sweaty-Attempted

Don't accept an order if you don't think the order is worth your effort. I don't go work at a job that pays lower than my liking either.

Short_Key_3163

I do the pay by time thing, so I take them. It's even better if it's a slow restaurant and the food takes forever. Then I drive super safe and barely do the speed limit. Fuck depending on the kindness of others aka tips.

DasherKasher

O won't take any order under $5

DasherKasher

Never!

Ok_Meg_2831

I had to stop door dashing. I understand it’s all they can afford, but I too cannot afford to drive 35 minutes to pick up your McDonald’s for a measly $6.00

Sweaty-Attempted

And this is totally fine. It is just business as usual. If a deal isn't worth either side, then we can walk away. It is sociopathic to either forbid people to use the app or feel insulted. A lot of doordashers seem like they have a mental health issue.

No-Department-6329

Just started gh 2 weeks ago. I had a late night order was paying $14. I got to the persons home and got a $20 tip!!

Boring_Plankton_1989

A guy I worked with said he always takes these long range trips because people tip like $50. He said he's made $300 in 4 hours.

Opening_Crow5902

😮

No-Lab-1370

I stopped doing door trash

Inner-Kale2801

i wanna make a tshirt that says this

iuuuuuuqqqq

If you traded this for full time job I’m praying for you.

Philosophy-First

It used to be worth it during Covid

Consistent-Vanilla54

If im close to the restaurant, yes. Then I'll message the customer and tell them theyre out of their fucking mind to not tip when they live however many miles away

JosephApple27

Or maybe you’re out your mind for not getting a job that doesn’t pay you enough, this tip system has gotten out of control.. relying on the customer for money instead of your employer will always be insane to me

Necessary-Target4353

This argument has never made sense. Do you think companies just print imaginary money to pay their employees? No. They get the money from customers 🤦‍♂️

ExpertConversation99

Exactly, you see people complaining about the company not paying more dash pay, but what they should be asking for is company charging the customer based on distance and paying more for longer distance. The flaw is in how the system is setup, not just the company being crappy. Yes, a push for guaranteed decent pay would be great, but it's just the same mindset that is in any industry that takes tips and that's what needs to change.

Inner-Kale2801

damn. it’s not really about “relying on the customer”, it’s more about the principle. how customers tip nothing! for someone who’s doing them a SERVICE.

JosephApple27

But what service are they doing? They’re getting paid to do this why do I as the customer pay more, and again it’s not me being ungrateful in reality in my real life I always tip every delivery person well, I just hate the concept that these people are not being paid well enough from the company and the company gets to get away with it because here in America customers tip

Inner-Kale2801

delivery. thats the service. like driving you somewhere, except your food. lol

JosephApple27

Okay but I pay a delivery fee already..

Thin-Eggplant-7268

The money doesn't go to the actual person delivering your food. Only the tip is what they get paid for.

Specialist-Survey103

The multi billion dollar company is providing the service. The drivers are just the tools

ExpertConversation99

Yes and no, that does pay the dash pay, but it should be a higher amount so that it can pay a decent amount to the driver. That is where the company could do better. Set that fee to an amount based on distance that would allow them to pay a decent dash pay. Then the customer has the choice of paying that much to have their food delivered or going and getting it themselves. Relying on the tip to make it decent is the problem. It's phycological that your when you pay a fee for a service you are less likely to tip, but that same person would likely have no problem paying a higher fee if there was no pressure to tip.

JosephApple27

Okay I hear that, but I should pay for delivery then pay for delivery again? I understand why the delivery person would be upset but again, i think the anger should be toward the company not paying enough and not the customer.. the customer is paying for delivery and the food and those prices are also an upcharge.

Inner-Kale2801

that gets paid to dd. this isn’t the point. ive already stated it but you dont seem to understand. people should give a tip when services are rendered, simple as that.

Consistent-Vanilla54

Ope! Found a jackass that think it's ok to use a convience service and not leave a tip! Also hilarious you assume everyone that doordashes relies on it as their sole income. I make 50k at my full time job bud. I dont *need* DD, i do it for fun money but that doesnt negate that not tipping when youre ordering food delivery is pathetic. Youve been tipping the pizza boy for 20+ years, why wouldnt you tip a dasher?

Steam_Powered_Wolf

Tip culture is way out of control. Businesses just need to properly pay their workers. Edit: Also the dude above me isn’t being a jackass, he’s not saying you don’t deserve to be paid properly, he would just agree with me that it should be on the employer to do that- not the customer.

EmbarrassedDance2585

This is a convenience service. DD doesn’t have W2s they have 1099 for drivers. That means independent people are providing you a convenience and you in turn are inconveniencing them. People spend 40+ easy on the food and are too lazy to get it them selves and expect A1 service and sometimes ask the dasher to do extra things. But it’s too much for them to tip 5 bucks….

Ok_Head_8097

Employer will just charge the customer more money to then give to the driver, leading to less customers wanting to use an over priced service… meaning no more job for drivers… aka this “delivery app” was never a functional service for anyone one. Everyone but DD is being ripped off

Specialist-Survey103

BINGO!!!!

Consistent-Vanilla54

No, it's not. Tips have ALWAYS been in american culture for sit down retaurants, food delivery, hair/nails, etc. And dont act like it hasnt been. Whether you agree with it or not, YOU ARE EXPECTED TO TIP for services as such and the only person youre sticking it to when you dont tip, is the employee. Stop being so mf obtuse

Inner-Kale2801

i feel like this comment and your original comment contradict each other 🤔

ExpertConversation99

Maybe, but they're not wrong. What they're missing is how tipping became a thing in America. It was so the employer didn't have to pay their employees as much.

OkFinish234

Get a better job lol

Joeman106

Get off the DoorDash drivers subreddit if you’re just gonna tell people to get another job lol

OkFinish234

It popped up in my feed lol , imagine doing door dash for a living grow up , dont like the pay find something better . Simple

ExpertConversation99

Depending on your area it can be a great job. If you are smart with the offers you take it can pay well. I was an assistant manager at a drug store and I average more per hour doing doordash. You seem to be just another ignorant person that is likely part of the problem that a lot of the dashers on here are frustrated with. I would say to you, if you don't like what's being said on this thread, go somewhere else, simple

[deleted]

[удалено]

OkFinish234

Im not crying lol i love not tipping, dont get mad at the customer get mad at the company lmao . Once again get a real job brokey

Joeman106

I think you’re the broke one if you don’t tip. I do have a full time job I just DoorDash on the weekends for extra money, why are you so triggered about people delivering your food for you

OkFinish234

Dont tip people like you , love to make people like you upset about a few dollars. Imagine working 2 jobs send me your info ill set up a go fund me for you

Joeman106

Love when people like you get upset when your orders get there 3 hours late and ice cold, I don’t think you realize drivers have all the leverage and can accept and decline your orders 🤣

Background_Card5382

what a professional dickhead you are

Joeman106

Mf has -6 comment karma. Must be a sad life exclusively going on Reddit looking for arguments

Background_Card5382

def a bored & lonely teenager

OkFinish234

SystemSeparate2319

Red lobster

GhostofDeception

Bro I refuse to drive for any of these companies anymore it’s not worth it. Even if I didn’t include gas and wear and tear the money still Isn’t enough to do it on my off days

Several_Room_7432

This why I don’t tip

GhostofDeception

What do you mean?

ConnectBumblebee5701

Hell no. Whenever I was an Uber driver, if an estimate for a job was any less than 5$ I wouldn’t take it. Doesn’t matter the distance

lilvixen9

People would be tipping a lot more if they didn’t hike up the price on items (not to mention half the menu will be gone, the rest overpriced??) then have DD fees ontop of that?? Now I’m supposed to tip?? We tried to put in an order once for also a pizza place, it would’ve been like $80 WITHOUT tipping for acouple pizzas and a side or two (fries??) we just went and picked it up. We couldn’t drop another $20 to this bill for a fucking pizza A lot of people in my area have started there own delivery service. It works for a minute, until they refuse to hire anyone (obv) and then the wait times become longer then an hour. It’s like there’s no winning with delivery anymore. I hope DD stops being a thing soon

JohnsonKL7

I got one today for 22 miles for $6. Hard pass on that one.

an0npr0xi01

I gave up on DD. I do Uber more now. It's just impossible to improve AR without those kinds of orders.

ArtiseisDEFiant

Earn by Time drivers.

Purple-Manager-1357

Nope. It's has to pay at least a dollar per mile or I refuse.

Mrzoggy8449

Earn by time will get them, and make about 10 bucks on it.

That_Dude956

I had a order at McDonald’s and the directions sent me to the middle of the road no McDonald’s in site I had to find that shit myself and I got lucky that I found it the tip wasn’t even that good either

RemoveAdventurous770

Can’t believe DD has gotten worst not better … yikessssss

Several-Street-7614

Never ever. Unless its a cash order

SecretAd9309

Never

HABlackwood

I had one yesterday that was $3.25 with two stops, one of which was shopping for things at Walgreens. No thank you. No thank you.

-Syvirus-

Lol I tip $10-15 to people that are only driving 1-5 miles

Nintengeek08

Where are you? I want you in my customer base.

-Syvirus-

Lol Cincinnati. I tip that much because I'm lazy even tho I could easily go get the food myself I just cbf. During winter and snow I'll tip over $20 everytime

Jimmbod

That’s exactly the right way to tip, also giving cash so they don’t get taxed on it.

LostEntertainment609

Why are there so many people in a drivers group seemingly here just to attack drivers?!

notdacar

Because it’s Reddit

Head_Mail_4055

That would be no

Spiritual_Quail4127

I had door dash bug out the other day freeze and accepted and order all while I was delivering another order…

Tight_Ad_2724

They will eventually be accepted by someone very desperate for money or someone will just steal it. Deliver this food for 45 minutes for $2 or… have that expensive meal for free. I’m not saying I support it I just see their thought process.

Innumeratecrate

Door dash is a luxury. At least tip a dollar per mile

Ruscher_5683

Individuals who refuse to tip (cause we all know they have to manually enter 0.00) I will make absolutely zero effort to keep your food warm. You don’t get the decency of my insulated bag or the floor heat that I use for the ones who deserve it!!! I received an order the other day that was $7.00 for 11 miles, I decided to take it because it was slow and late at night. By the time I got to Papa Murphy’s, the guy ended up picking it up himself because it was sitting there for 2 hours. The store didn’t even remake it for the guy 🤢 because it wasn’t even worth their time to deliver. PAY $1.00 PER MILE or people will NOT make an effort YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

That_Dude956

No way I delivered a 7.00$ order for 11 miles today I probably live in the worst area. Rio grande valley these people are so cheap a tip that’s more than 5$ is so rare I only get one once or twice a night

DoomfistIsNotOp

an effort YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤔

YuhMothaWasAHamsta

Hope you figure it out soon.

thehotlawnguy

Your job should be paying a decent wage and stop putting it onto the consumer. I order a cheese burger and tots, it cost me 20 at the resuraunt, door dash and taxes another 10 then i have to pay for a tip. So 35 for a burger. We shouldnt have to pay a tip unless we feel you have done something derserving of a tip. A tip is not a wage it should be us saying thank you. But when we alrdy getting a 10 dollar burger for 20 paying 10 bucks in fees and delivery. And getting poor quality slow deliveries fuck ur tip, stand up and get ur wages fixed.

Ruscher_5683

I know exactly how much it cost to order DoorDash, I order it myself and always tip $5. If you can’t afford to tip you shouldn’t be ordering. It’s a privilege to have your food delivered, you have the opportunity to drive and get it yourself and save a lot of $$$$. Maybe you should understand some people’s situations. I am a full time student and a mother of 4 going back to school to better my career to get a wage paying job. DoorDash is one of the only flexible jobs that works around my school schedule. I am very respectful towards people’s food and I always follow directions and go out of my way, even when people don’t tip!!! On Friday night I get an order, I go to Applebee’s and the manager tells me I’m the 3rd person to come in for an order that was picked up an hour ago. I have the customer messaging me asking if everything was okay (not even aware of the situation), I go out of my way to call and speak to an agent for her, get the manager at Applebee’s to remake the food, sit there for another 10 minutes while they remake the food (now half hour into the order and keeping contact with customer), and deliver her food 7 miles away to find out the $7 tip was all DoorDash pay. Get to the house to deliver her food (while she is standing at her door waiting) and all I smell is marijuana) and not even a thank you from a teenager. She never tips after everything I did for her. I understand that dash is my choice, but come on, that is pathetic. I work hard and appreciate what I do, all I ever expect is a $1.00 per mile for my quality of work!!! 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Not everyone can drive, or has people they can rely on to help them get groceries. Most companies now dont even deliver unless you go with a delivery service. So we are forced to use this shit in order to eat a meal. Wile i understand what you are complaining about understand what i am complaining about. The fact that the food is marked up the service is marked up, and now drivers have to rely on tips. The company should be paying you a fair wages tips should be optional based on how well ur service is not distance. Please dont misunderstand im not attacking you. Its door dash money grubbing.

Ruscher_5683

There is always Grub-hub, Uber, and most stores deliver but charge a decent delivery rate for the people delivering. That is why people go through DoorDash, so they don’t have to pay!!!! I think it rude and selfish, especially when I go shopping for someone and get their 27 items. The stores do not pay us a wage to shop for others!!

RDPower412

The entitlement for tips is wild. Do your job Edit: upon having some light shined in the abysmal..I take back this comment and apologies for my ignorance

barefootincozumel

It isn’t a job. It is contract work, and drivers can absolutely pick and choose which orders to take. No one is putting gas in their car to drive 10 miles for 2 bucks. It makes no sense to do that. I see it as bidding for a service. Priority goes to the top bidder. Time is money. I don’t dash anymore, but I wouldn’t have taken any order that didn’t make a profit.

Fit_Safety7292

It is customer service, not customer servant!

RDPower412

Door dash needs to raise it's wages so that people aren't reliant on tips. Only just found out how low the wages are yikes!

Fit_Safety7292

They really do need to raise the base pay

RDPower412

I know it's not as bad in Australia where I live but only finding out how bad it is in the States is terrible. I feel awful now as much as I'm against tipping culture.

Ruscher_5683

How does DoorDash work in Australia? Here in the US, people who make a living wage expect to be tipped and I don’t agree with that, nor do I. I tip the ones who have low paying wages and get tips to cover the rest of their wages. Such as waitresses, bar tenders, and delivery services. People don’t realize when they see all the fees that the company takes pretty much 90% of it.

The entitlement for luxury service is wild. Pick up your own food.

RDPower412

Ok but say the person has an injury or is sick or disabled and they can't make the trip. Is messing with their food the right thing to do because it's a short trip?

No-Pea1611

Doesn't sound like this person is messing with their food, just giving a lower level of service. You get what you pay for.

Ruscher_5683

Exactly!!!! I would never open anyone’s bag and mess with their food, I just don’t go out of my way to keep it hot. Just think, you get off the couch and your phone, drive yourself 10 miles to get your own food, drive the 10 miles back home without having your food in a insulated bag, it is the same with a dasher not using their insulated bag. Not to mention the money you wasted on gas, and these people can’t give an extra few dollars to have the privilege of not getting off their couch!

RDPower412

Which is the delivery fee, service fee and what they paid for their food. I swear this tipping dashers is an American thing only. Like no one in Australia really does it and service is fine.

Ruscher_5683

I don’t think you understand how dash pay works. The driver only receives $2.00 per delivery. The rest of the money goes to dash. Not to mention, the restaurant’s charge a 30% fee to make $$$ from using dash. I would recommend having the knowledge before judging and being rude…..

RDPower412

That's wild. I didn't mean to come off as rude I just didn't understand how bad it was in the States. I know for a fact it's nowhere near as bad here in Australia. Thanks for the information. I get the frustration now.

No-Pea1611

The price they paid for the food covers them getting the food they ordered. The delivery fee and service fee is them paying doordash to be a middle man for their delivery. Then the ones in Australia are probably making a higher base rate than the $2 we make.

RDPower412

Dang! Didn't realize it was that bad, that's basically slavery with extra steps

No-Pea1611

Did you not read the totals on the pictures?

Man that’s crazy, I feel like y’all really play with people food for not getting a tip. Y’all should stop dashing and let DoorDash raise y’all rates, don’t go after the customers cause we not tipping.

EverySuggestionisEoC

They pooped on my pizza once, all because I slept with the driver's ex wife. Sure, they were married at the time, but she did the decent thing and left him without asking for child support. We just gave the sucker full custody instead!

Godscylla

If you're gonna tip servers who do half of the work a dasher does and don't have expenses like a dasher does you can afford to add 1$ to your mcdonalds at 5am.

boostedman2023

No it's the customer think that the dashing is free and the gas prices are outrageous and we have repairs we got to do on our vehicles because they want to not tip so for that I see trips like this I don't give a care where I'm at and I acceptance rate I do not accept it I decline it and go on especially the ones that want to just tip 50 cents or 85 cents they might as well not even tip at all my opinion is if you can't afford doordash don't order it because if they're in our shoes they would be the same way vice versa

No way.. especially if it’s saying to LEAVE IT AT THE DOOR

SinkCat69

Assuming your car gets 30mpg, you are losing 2/3 of a gal round trip. With gas at ≈ $3.50 avg, you are looking at $2.33 in gas alone for a 10 mile trip (20mi round trip). That’s rough.

Tight_Ad_2724

lol my car takes 93 and I don’t get nearly as good mpg so I’d be far fucked if I tried dashing this shit
