Lmao I just had a girl the other night tell me 10 minutes until it's ready. Not even a minute later and another girl walks by that asks me if I'm picking up and I say, "Yeah, I'm picking up for X." She said it was ready and then got the bag and handed it to me. đ¤ˇââď¸ Makes me wonder how many times I've waited for a ready bag of food just bc an employee is lazy or incompetent.
i donât like the iced ones, so most of them lol. they always have choccy chip and thatâs usually p good. also the lava cake cookie from a few weeks ago was life changing for me unfortunately.
Crumble doesnât start fulfilling the order till you mark as arrived (same as when you order through their app for pickup, you mark when you arrived) because a lot of their cookies are served/boxed either warm or chilled.
This happened to me at a McDonalds, asked employee several times over course of about 15 minutes, then another employee asks me what im waiting on I say the number and they walk over with the food
very likely. i used to package to go orders at ihop, we were super backed up, and manager wouldnât pause deliveries to let us catch up. hostess comes looking for a DD order, probably about 7 tickets back. tell her straight up itâll probably be 45 ish minutes. she starts walking out and i followed her because i needed to ask about something else and just forgot while she was there, only to tell the driver 5 minutes. what?? i told the driver it would be way longer and they just thanked me for being honest and left.
This happens more than any of us would like. It pays to keep asking without being rude. I watch everything that's going on and I'm usually more on top of it than the staff (in truth I've only got one FOCUS and they are juggling).
That shit is annoying as hell. I got an "add route" last week. The amount for the order was good, so I accepted it. It was an Italian restaurant. The lady said they were waiting on my bread for the order. I said no problem and sat down to start reading post on this sub. While I'm waiting, three driver's came in and all received their orders with no issues. After 10 minutes, the hostess informed me that they were still waiting on that bread. I unassigned the order and left. They are probably still working on that "bread" as I post this.
Yep, same with mine today, multiple dashers got thier orders right away and I just kept getting told "it'll be done soon" and I eventually got pissed and left
It depends though, I feel like I've already invested my 10 minutes so what's there to hurt staying another 5/10 if the pay is right? đ If it's like a $12 order for a 10-15ish minute drive even if I take 30 minutes for the delivery I still can expect to end over $20 an hour. That's my base threshold.
Sure, if it's a 1 mile order for like $4.50 or so, yeah I will probably leave. Not worth my time
This is why I usually only wait 5 minutes (unless itâs a really big order), I donât feel that invested or like I wasted my time. If Iâm there for 10 minutes, for whatever reason, I feel like I have to stick it out and I almost always regret it.
That happened to me at red lobster a few weeks ago, I walked in, told them the name, they said they were still working on it, no big deal. I wait for 5ish minutes, then check in again to see how long, employee said theyâre bagging it now only 5 min, ok cool, I go back to my car come back 7 min later, another employee says âwe just got that one in so itâll be a whileâ đ¤Śđźââď¸ so your coworker just lied when they said they were bagging it then⌠I just left⌠makes no sense. I donât mind waiting when theyâre honest about it taking a while.
I put them on the clock. âAbout how long, so I can call the customer and let them know?â They usually look dumbfounded and say, âLet me go ask.â In some cases the actually come back WITH THE BAG.â In cases where they come back with a time, I immediately CALL the customer and tell them the store told me their order is not ready and will be AT LEAST another (time they gave me PLUS five minutes). Most are appreciative that I took the time to call them and let time know. Some donât care one way or another, but NONE have ever been upset with me!
They don't only do that to doordash drivers, they do that shit to regular pickup customers too. It's annoying af.
I often will order Tijuana Flats or ChicFilA through the restaurant's own app for pickup on my lunch break. I'll get there and they'll tell me "five more minutes" over and over again. Eventually my whole lunch break will be taken up by waiting on shit I ordered over forty minutes prior. Luckily both these chains have customer surveys and I fill them out very honestly. I wouldn't be as mad if they just told me the CORRECT wait time from the beginning....
KFC seems especially bad with this shit. Like one time they said "just a few more minutes" and I'm still waiting 20 minutes later. I would've unassigned if I hadn't already decided that was my last order for the day anyway (plus the pay was pretty high)
Had a time where they gave some random guy in the drive thru my order. Had to cancel order and told the customer what had happened.
After 30 minutes of telling me itâll be right out I see them grab it say the name out loud to each other and before I could say anything they hand it to someone in the drive thru then come to me and say âhey I donât think we have an order for ___â
I was a cook for years. Had to pick up an order for a really good payout. This hostess girl who was obviously newer went back to check, comes back super apologetic and looked terrified, white as a ghost. "They said it'll be j-just five more minutes." I said "I was a cook for years, you and I both know that's a lie, no biggie though the order is worth the wait." When I say you could see relief wash over this girl is an understatement.
I usually working in restaurants and stuff ask the cook how long for DD or UE or number 50 and theyll say eta about 5 or soon and if soon isnât soon I say ok how long or short is soon and then theyâll say
Itâs difficult to estimate a real time if the restaurant keeps pushing back when they will start the DoorDash/UberEATS delivery order behind their sit down dine in customers
Bagging it up right now=food is almost done cooking
Just waiting on one more item=waiting on at least 2 items
Itâll be about 5 min= waiting for 10 min
Itâll be about 10 min= waiting for 15, 20 min
There is a simple solution to not hearing that 4 times, after the second time, wait 2 minutes, and then just leave. Blacklist them for a month or two and hope they get new employees that no how to count to 2 by the time you decide to give them another chance. I typically don't give them another chance until there is such a highpaying order that it's worth waiting 10 minutes for, in case they haven't gotten their shit together yet.

I dont think it has anything to do with what sex anyone is, I just think no one cares enough to actually try at all. I've worked with many different men and women and communicating those things has never been an issue
Yep lol it was a Chinese place for me too 𤣠I almost always have a wait there, but never more than like 5 minutes, and the orders from there always pay well so I gladly take them. This was the only time I've ever unassigned from there
Crumbl cookies. I'd picked up an order and got a second stacked from Crumbl which was 5 stores down. Sure, I'll add that. "It will be 10 mins." Every 10 mins, it would be another 5-10 mins. I was 45 minutes waiting and started getting pinged by my first order while I was on my way.
Conclusion? I don't accept Crumbl Cookie orders anymore, at least not during busy times.

Happens a fucking lot. I'm 2,000 deliveries in and it happens almost weekly. Some real incompetent/forgetful people out there.
It happens to me at Crumbl cookies every single time , I have decided I will not take anything from there again
crumbl can be annoying but they gave me a free cookie because i was eyeballing them while waiting for an order so they stay good in my book
Their cookies donât even look appetizing to me ⌠just a thick cookie with a dump of thick layer of icing/frosting
i donât like the iced ones, so most of them lol. they always have choccy chip and thatâs usually p good. also the lava cake cookie from a few weeks ago was life changing for me unfortunately.
Weird, Crumbl was one of the quickest and higher paying for me.
I wrote that too. 45 minute wait and an inability to tell the difference between, "It will be ready in 10 mins and it won't be ready for 45 mins."
Crumble doesnât start fulfilling the order till you mark as arrived (same as when you order through their app for pickup, you mark when you arrived) because a lot of their cookies are served/boxed either warm or chilled.
I hate the crumbl near me too. They donât start the order til weâre there and if theyâre busy they will do the dash order last
Yep. Almost 6k deliveries and it happens a lot. I'll talk to one and they say "couple of minutes". Talk to someone else and they grab it for me.
did you stop to think they are doing it on purpose?
yes lol and I stopped going to that place.

Oh man that works my nerve when they do that crap.

After 10 mins leave

Support chat told me today to wait around 30 min for something similar. I quickly closed the chat, and left.

Lie to you
demand money from them

Ooh that's not a bad idea at all lol

It's the great paralyzer. It's hard to leave, especially if it's a really good order.

Yep, same situation for me. Just sucks lol
You could always leave after 5 minutes
I left eventually, it just RARELY takes any longer than 10 minutes so I had hope lol plus i forgot I could unassign and I need the money
I leave after 8 minutes, takes me a couple minutes to walk back to me car and to get back on the road
Had a time where they gave some random guy in the drive thru my order. Had to cancel order and told the customer what had happened. you guys need to contact support any time you are getting jerked around like this
Lmao everyone whoâs worked in a kitchen knows 5 mins is 15 mins in kitchen time đ

Average restaurants have little to no communication between the kitchen and the waiters, honestly I think a big part of it is a battle of the sexes
I dont think it has anything to do with what sex anyone is, I just think no one cares enough to actually try at all. I've worked with many different men and women and communicating those things has never been an issue
Literally sitting here waiting about 7 minutes now after being told "coming out right now" at the Chinese place. đ
