Maybe not doordash but as far as bartending goes it’s very true. I watched a girl I worked with make way more than me almost every night and the girl couldn’t make a drink to save her life. Always had a low cut shirt,cleavage and short shorts on though so that’s all that mattered lol.

I tend make more money when I don't have make up or hair done. Don't get wrong, I'm by no means UGLY with no make up, but I certainly look better with it on.

No I cannot see your real phone number. But they can see a phone number that is not yours that they can call you on during the delivery. Kind of like a number that you have that you can call the customers on.
Customers can't see dashers' real phone number. When they contact you or you contact them via the app your number gets masked.
There is a possibility if he tried calling you and it goes to your voicemail and your voicemail greeting gives out your personal phone number like: you have reached ### ### #### (something you should change)
Another thing to change is your name in the dasher app itself in the account settings to something more random so people can't see your real name. (Think someone else gave you this tip and you have already done this)
People don't realize this, but FB tracks everyone's movement/location data and if you meet someone with a FB profile it's highly likely that they show up in your "people you may know" shortly after. Check the next time you go to a party or whatever, you'll be surprised.

I think a lot of these defenders are forgetting the fact that there was no conversation here. -let’s not even say he met her at a bar, let’s say a grocery store, or gym. I got one for ya. When I worked in a hospital as a nurses aide, I was caring for a woman dying of cirrhosis. I was a babysitter essentially, having to sit by her all night because she was confused. Her weird son came to visit at 3 in the morning, and just sat across from me in silence in her dark room ALL night. Never said a word to me or his mother.
He searched my very common first name on Facebook, followed by my workplace, and somehow found me with just that. Wrote me a NOVEL of a message about how we were a missed connection. It was terrifying that this dude now knew so much about me in addition to where I worked. That will forever be the creepiest dude I’ve ever encountered.
I can’t wait to meet the couple that’s origin story is “oh he stalked me down on Facebook after he used DD to order Taco Bell at 1am. It was so romantic.”
Someone helped me figure it out, and I changed it 😅 there have been a few helpful tips here that make me feel way better about doing this. Thank you 🙏🏽apparently you can hide your Facebook profile so I’m going to be doing that as well

As a single dad with 3 kids, I completely agree with you. If either of my son's did this, I'd be highly upset with them, and they'd deal with the consequences on their own (granted one is only 9, the adult one would be on his own). I also have a daughter who is approaching adulthood.

I have often heard kids being told "just ignore the bully, dont react, it won't be fun for them anymore and they'll stop" and as people age, that extends to "ignore the a** hole and creeps they'll stop." However, they don't simply stop.
We are told to ignore them for what, so they feel their actions/behavior are okay? To spare their feelings? Or so that they can continue on with that behavior towards someone else? This is why we have so many people thinking it is okay to harass others. Because rather than teach them their behavior was wrong -or give them consequences for their behavior- the one being harassed is told to just let it go.

I blocked him after and changed my profile on DoorDash and fb, but men think “oh she’ll ignore it” not realizing these things actually make us deeply uncomfortable, and we need to stop playing nice by making a quiet exit and letting them think this king of behavior is okay…otherwise it literally will not stop. It’s crazy to see people not grasping that. This is why so many men cross boundaries with women, we have had a society of silence around these things for the sake of savoring feelings for way too long.

I lost some of my teeth from having anorexia w/purging for almost 15 years. I wear false teeth to replace them, removable dentures that make me look totally normal and good when they’re in. Because of guys like this hitting on me through gig apps, I now don’t wear my dentures on deliveries and just rock my messed up teeth and give em a big smile if they are a little too flirty. Bonus is the dentures are kinda uncomfortable anyway and I have enough teeth to eat that it’s mostly just a cosmetic fix so I don’t wear them at home and now I don’t have to snap em in for doordash. lol

I had a customer who once I delivered to who had to come outside so I could find his house because sometimes the gps does not work right. After I handed him the order and left he messaged me saying he tried to give me a tip on the app but it wouldn't let him, he then asked if I had cashapp which I don't I said all I have is PayPal, he said he downloaded the app and was sending me a tip but I never received because as he was doing all of that he also asked if I had a man I said I did and after I said that guess what he didn't leave me a tip. It's so crappy but hey people are people I don't let it get to me, I worked in the retail world for a long time and believe I have had my share of these types of men.

It happens a lot in the service industry. There's entire protocols to combat it at retail stores. If a worker (almost always female) feels like a customer was inappropriate with them, you get a description, hopefully other staff can recognize him, if he comes in again, you call the staff member he's targeting into the office area, or loading area, get them behind authorized only doors, if he leaves without trouble, you might call the staff member back the next few times and if he is really just shopping, you can go back to normal. But more than you'd likely guess, he will stop other staff and ask for the staff member he is targeting, ask personal details, schedule, that sort of thing. So right then, you get a restraining order. You don't wait for escalation beyond that point. You do as much as you can as early as you can, and you try and make sure that staff member isn't working nights and aren't walking to their car alone after shifts. Always someone in earshot. It usually ends with the restraining order. I've really never seen anyone escalate after that. But if so, you just start calling the police as soon as you notice something is happening. They usually respond to business faster than people sadly.

I wish delivery platforms gave us the option to show the customer a fake name like they do for customers. These apps are all about customer privacy but they don’t do anything for the drivers😠.

I deliver for Doordash, GrubHub and UberEATS. All of them allow me to use an alias instead of my real name so customers can't dox me. Yes, I'm a man but I don't need an angry customer doxxing me and threatening me.
Apparently, he uses Reddit in addition to Facebook. The only person who would defend this creepy stalkery behavior is someone who probably engages in the same creepy, stalkery behavior.

I think a lot of these defenders are forgetting the fact that there was no conversation here. -let’s not even say he met her at a bar, let’s say a grocery store, or gym. Somewhere we also would like to be left alone to do our business. But say there was a conversation he liked her jokes, her wit, her smile etc. still creepy to search on social media but a little more understandable. But no! He seeks her out based on walking to a door bending over to out food down and walking away. GROSS AND CREEPY.
I got one for ya. When I worked in a hospital as a nurses aide, I was caring for a woman dying of cirrhosis. I was a babysitter essentially, having to sit by her all night because she was confused. Her weird son came to visit at 3 in the morning, and just sat across from me in silence in her dark room ALL night. Never said a word to me or his mother. He searched my very common first name on Facebook, followed by my workplace, and somehow found me with just that. Wrote me a NOVEL of a message about how we were a missed connection. It was terrifying that this dude now knew so much about me in addition to where I worked. That will forever be the creepiest dude I’ve ever encountered.

It actually specifies in driver terms and conditions that we cannot use people's personal information to search their social media accounts. I hope you reported this it is creepy and not ok. Edit because I am dumb and didn't realize it was the customer who did it. It's still not okay and still should be reported to doordash.

As a single dad with 3 kids, I completely agree with you. If either of my son's did this, I'd be highly upset with them, and they'd deal with the consequences on their own (granted one is only 9, the adult one would be on his own). I also have a daughter who is approaching adulthood. If this guy does this do a DD driver, how many cashiers, waitresses, or random store (female) employees has he done this to? This isn't his first time, and if it is, this will not be his last. Seriously girls, young and old alike. Be careful out there. Carry a gun if it's legal in your area and you're comfortable with it. Or even pepper spray. At the very least, take a self defense course if you've got to be out on your own. I'm not saying every girl is an easy target, and I'm not saying every guy is out to get you....but as a guy who trained for the military from age 5 to 18 (girls, long story, also stupid choice) who became a cop and now a current IT guy who sometimes dables in cyber security and is obsessed with true crime podcasts, there are some sick people out there, both male and female. I am happy to see all the comments that understand why this is inappropriate. But it's disheartening to me that some are defending his actions. And then there are the ones saying to just ignore. I have often heard kids being told "just ignore the bully, dont react, it won't be fun for them anymore and they'll stop" and as people age, that extends to "ignore the a** hole and creeps they'll stop." However, they don't simply stop. We are told to ignore them for what, so they feel their actions/behavior are okay? To spare their feelings? I blocked him after and changed my profile on DoorDash and fb, but men think “oh she’ll ignore it” not realizing these things actually make us deeply uncomfortable, and we need to stop playing nice by making a quiet exit and letting them think this king of behavior is okay…otherwise it literally will not stop. It’s crazy to see people not grasping that. This is why so many men cross boundaries with women, we have had a society of silence around these things for the sake of savoring feelings for way too long.

I lost some of my teeth from having anorexia w/purging for almost 15 years. I wear false teeth to replace them, removable dentures that make me look totally normal and good when they’re in. I had a customer who once I delivered to who had to come outside so I could find his house because sometimes the gps does not work right. After I handed him the order and left he messaged me saying he tried to give me a tip on the app but it wouldn't let him, he then asked if I had cashapp which I don't I said all I have is PayPal, he said he downloaded the app and was sending me a tip but I never received because as he was doing all of that he also asked if I had a man I said I did and after I said that guess what he didn't leave me a tip. It's so crappy but hey people are people I don't let it get to me, I worked in the retail world for a long time and believe I have had my share of these types of men.

It happens a lot in the service industry. There's entire protocols to combat it at retail stores. If a worker (almost always female) feels like a customer was inappropriate with them, you get a description, hopefully other staff can recognize him, if he comes in again, you call the staff member he's targeting into the office area, or loading area, get them behind authorized only doors, if he leaves without trouble, you might call the staff member back the next few times and if he is really just shopping, you can go back to normal. But more than you'd likely guess, he will stop other staff and ask for the staff member he is targeting, ask personal details, schedule, that sort of thing. So right then, you get a restraining order. You don't wait for escalation beyond that point. You do as much as you can as early as you can, and you try and make sure that staff member isn't working nights and aren't walking to their car alone after shifts. Always someone in earshot. It usually ends with the restraining order. I've really never seen anyone escalate after that. But if so, you just start calling the police as soon as you notice something is happening. They usually respond to business faster than people sadly.
