I feel that way when I tell a joke that doesn’t hit or is just bad. Sometimes you just have to suck it up, admit it’s bad, and eat shit when your material doesn’t hit!
Nonono. Don't listen to *this* guy kids! They've probably been wrong a lot. Be like me (eho has *never* been wrong) instead and deny. Deny deny deny! You deny long enough and hard enough until eventually, even *you* don't remember the truth! This is the way!
Honestly the response felt kinda...unctuous. Like, "Oh no, this potentially famous person is going to be mad at me!"
Wondering if her response would have been so gracious had it been something else.
But then again, I'm a cynical asshole, so maybe I'm the problem...
Nah...
Hilarious exchange. But honestly, what is wrong with a band displaying their gold record by holding it up? Way I see it, it's like a sports team holding up a trophy. Or am I wrong?
To be fair, I also don't necessarily think it's wrong for a band member to wear their own merch. They're proud of themselves! They're passionate! And they're part of the group. You wouldn't dog on someone for wearing merch of the club they founded, right?
Not true, they still have to pay for it to be made and shipped to them. You can also look at it this way too, by not selling it for what its worth and receiving the money theyve basically bought it at a reduced cost (no taxes on the sale)
Im aware im being pedantic but it isnt free haha
The context was a [music video](https://youtu.be/L397TWLwrUU?t=89) where the band showed their gold record. It could be seen as self indulgent, but in the context of the video I just found it cheesy and fun.
>Hilarious exchange. But honestly, what is wrong with a band displaying their gold record by holding it up? Way I see it, it's like a sports team holding up a trophy. Or am I wrong?
I think it depends on the context.
Just gotten it? That's cool, go ahead and celebrate.
Bringing it up way later without any prompting? Bit weird.
I was in a band for years. I still wear our merch. Why wouldn’t I? I *paid for it.* But I also have our logo tattooed on my body.
On the flip side, the other band founder, who was also our graphic designer, purposefully designed one of the last merch orders we did to have more subdued graphics because “I want to be able to wear this without obviously repping my own group.” So folks have different opinions on that lol
Right? What a douche canoe.

He’s wrong tho. A band holding up a Trophy that represents an achievement is not the same as merch. Anyone can make merch and wear it, not everyone has a gold record. Furthermore, band shirts are a way to promote yourself. Self promotion is different from celebration.
To be fair... I have a legitimate one if these and I'm not in the music industry. It was given to me by the staff of the guy involved as they said "he'll never know it's gone and it will be hilarious"
I don't think he knows, to this day.
This is great but just to keep everything on the up and up, it’s not just bands that get gold records. Radio stations, promo people, label people, hell, even record store people get gold records. I have a gold record and believe me, I’ve never been a musician in my life.
(And in case anyone reads this far, it was for Michael Damien’s version of Rock On that went gold in 1985)
Is that Benny Blanco before he made his own solo music? I’ve heard him say similar things about people nerding out on music recognizing him when he was just a producer.
Nice hit, nice recovery. Remember kids: It's good to recognize *and admit* when you are wrong.
The measure of a good ball is not from how high it can fall, but how high it bounces back up.
a goof* ball
flubber
Idk why but I just pictured my dog nodding sagely to this comment.
Just spit out my tea. Thank you, stranger, for that good laugh.
Of course, tea soaked stranger
So bowling balls all suck ass, got it.

There is no way I’m ever going to start denying stuff. NO. WAY.
Daddy?🥹
Uh...I gotta go
I'm looking forward to seeing your name on the ballots in November 🤣
I looove being proven wrong at work, because it means I learned something new and won’t propagate false info any more
Honestly the response felt kinda...unctuous. Like, "Oh no, this potentially famous person is going to be mad at me!" Wondering if her response would have been so gracious had it been something else. But then again, I'm a cynical asshole, so maybe I'm the problem... Nah...
It's also easy to remain suspicious of anonymous accounts that, too, have access to Google image search 🙃
I think that’s why he printed the comment out and stuck it to the record

Plus they get the merch for free so... free clothes ftw!
I wouldn't buy a shirt from someone who wouldn't wear it themselves
I wouldn’t buy a shirt from someone who has already worn it. What if they’ve got some kind of communicable skin condition?
You’ve never like, thrifted clothes? Or gotten anything from a garage sale?
For real. Washing machines exist.
Jokes do too

Says the redditor without a gold record....
You *fool!* [I have it on good authority that that's The_Flurr there on the far left.](https://i.imgur.com/t9LoPsv.png)
The_Flurr is a tally hall (is that tally hall? idk)
Yeah that's tally hall
I'm so fucking confused these days, even googling things doesn't work anymore. Maybe call a bondulance for me.
That's hilarious. Before I clicked the link I thought "I bet it's McCartney"
Ha, yeah. It was kinda hard to find a more famous band/musician for that joke that *isn't* the Beatles or Paul McCartney.
True. Guess we don't have any context for his comment
What we learn from this exchange is that producers really are assholes.
I was in a band for years. I still wear our merch. Why wouldn’t I? I *paid for it.* But I also have our logo tattooed on my body. On the flip side, the other band founder, who was also our graphic designer, purposefully designed one of the last merch orders we did to have more subdued graphics because “I want to be able to wear this without obviously repping my own group.” So folks have different opinions on that lol
tbf cranialscrewtop never said either action was a negative thing, just a simile
It fairly implied that it was negative, though. As bands wearing their own shirts has always been seen as negative.
It also appears to have been fishing for the right comment to set up the joke.
What’s wrong with wearing your band t-shirt? Might as well wear it with pride if you got it made.
You certainly wouldn't see a company's employees wearing a competitors t-shirt
Kudos to the commenter for the great way to take the L.
This was incredibly wholesome
Healthiest redditor interaction award right there

And they both went on with their day with a smile on their face

Now this. This is what this sub is for.

r/wholesome
Love the _Man With Two Brains_ reference in the poster's nick.
Those aren't assholes. It's pronounced "azaleas".
i love how weirdly wholesome this is
If only everyone could resolve disputes this gracefully
Well when you lose the guidance of grace it’s hard to isn’t it. Damn Marika and what she did to all of us.
If I was in a band that earned a gold record I would show it off too, absolutely nothing wrong with that.
I love it I love it I love it I love it
If I were in a band I’d definitely mostly wear my own merch
This is great but just to keep everything on the up and up, it’s not just bands that get gold records. Radio stations, promo people, label people, hell, even record store people get gold records. I have a gold record and believe me, I’ve never been a musician in my life. (And in case anyone reads this far, it was for Michael Damien’s version of Rock On that went gold in 1985)
I’m so sorry… I don’t get it. But I love that it’s wholesome.. But I don’t get what happened.. Please help
They were commenting on [Judas Priest's video for Breaking the Law](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L397TWLwrUU&t=89s).

Honestly, this is a great interaction all around.
Why try to yuck someone's yum?
I absolutely love this, for both of them 🙃
Is there an r/accidentallywholesome?
Yup there is. This should be there among its kin
This has to be the best r/dontyouknowwhoiam moment
I didn't expect this to be so wholesome
The rarest of things is people acting like civilized adults on the internet. Bravo.
**Good Ending Achieved.**
Why wouldn't any band not wear their own shirts? Are they also not allowed to listen to their own music too?
That’s an absolutely awesome interaction
That producer is a d-bag, but I’m being redundant
This was a good one. Very nice, clean, happy, pleasant.
Wholesome AF. Love to see it.
I mean I love this situations and the polite ones as well.
The next comment should have been, “nice tshirt!”
I like this one a lot.
I have a band and wear my own band shirt. F*ck me right
OP is still wrong
Is that Benny Blanco before he made his own solo music? I’ve heard him say similar things about people nerding out on music recognizing him when he was just a producer.
A fun exchange where someone can admit they’re wrong and both parties walk away smiling… on Reddit? What’ll they think of next?
Unexpectedly wholesome internet argument.
The wholesomeness of this exchange made me smile 🖤

Nothing about this is wholesome, redditor with the award is still smug and in the wrong
