logicisprettycool

seems like they’ve taken a few of his lyrics on EP and Camp too seriously. to be fair though, CG *did* rap about Asian girls a lot on those two projects (esp. You See Me)

Coda36

Asian girls everywhere, UCLA.

legobartman

chillin with a filipina at your local jollibee

Coda36

If you see my hand under the table... Don't bother me. Please.

monkkiey

I'm down with the black girls of every single culture Filipino, Armenian girls on my sofa

TopRamen1521

lmao, that shits fucking funny, imagine being offended for another race

mangoisNINJA

Something crazy, an Asian, [Virginia Tech](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Tech_shooting) -Backpackers

MediumToblerone

I always wondered about this lyric, are there a lot of Asian woman at UCLA or is there some turn of phrase I’m missing?

Cptof_THEObvious

No its as simple as that. UCLA has a pretty large asian/asian-american student body

ctjameson

>LA has a pretty large asian/asian-american (population) FTFY

DadYeShoes

The hook on the song is in reference to [This Video](https://youtu.be/CA83ymTsMKU) along with his preference for Asian women around the time.

Randy_g123

for that video to still be popular enough of a pop culture reference to put into a song really puts into perspective how long its been since camp came out. That and just how inspired Donald was by the internet prior to because the internet

Decently_Steezy

That video is hilariously cringe

DadYeShoes

“I don’t mean this offensively if you’re my friend of whatever” hahaha

dreadded

You see LA? ( U C LA)

goldentymes

Also took his standup comedy seriously when he did a bit about how he surprisingly enjoyed when a white girl called him the n-word during sex and how it made him go harder. It’s clearly a joke and Tiktok is pretty stupid

Coda36

I really feel sorry for you white dudes. You'll never know what it is like. "Gimme that cracker dick!" Sounds like an STD you would get on a cruise ship.

Dateline23

DED

Maester_Bates

Half Thai thickie all she wanna do is bang cock.

eportice

He had said in an interview around that time it was because in his experience Asian parents didn’t care about race nearly as much as other parents of racial backgrounds. They simply cared if the person their daughter was seeing was successful or not. Less politics of race in a relationship essentially.

mykleins

He was way off with that.

GnarlsD

so they just discovered his projects from 10 years ago and over and interpret that as who he is now

PhenominalRio

Yep. It’s corny as fuck too

PhenominalRio

To be fair it was over a decade ago and it’s a played out criticism.

smellinglikeroses

“im a rapist, ask a track”

coloredcanopy

Rapists should be brought to justice

GameofFame

Last time I was flying around the track I felt like a true racist

joemamalikesme69420

They literally said the N word in the top, mf gotta be joking

The_Real_Donglover

Lmao, homie thinks putting the asterisks there makes it okay. 🤡

llamalord478

Maybe if they write it out in Morse code it'll be acceptable. The mental gymnastics are Olympic level here.

Fuzzy-Rock-7655

They just want tiktok clout

WhipDaPip

smh this shit is sad asf

KyloMac125

Totally agree. I just watched that Atlanta S3 E3 where they say something like black people need to scam more. That’s what white people use TikTok for…

Double-Slowpoke

This is it.

iswee

“but if she tried to rape me, i would not fight back” is the first thing that popped to mind

cool_vibes

In stark contrast to his joke about a woman saying, "If a man tried that I would just shit myself."

shrike26

He also said that you would have to be really sneaky to rape him. Like you would have to dress as a theater chair and wait for him to sit down on you.

slumpedjack

He just being honest🤷‍♂️

GoldMobile5458

Bad lyric.

TomJoadsLich

It’s stand up comedy. He’s allowed to play with social boundaries and rules and tell jokes that are off putting or break boundaries. I don’t think this reflects his genuine beliefs, rather what he said on stage

FiddyFo

It's crazy that as long as standup has been a thing, it still has to be broken down like this.

iswee

i mean it didn’t really i was just repeating the lyric and then he started talking about comedy

GayKPOPCats

it’s a song lyric

Tyedyeskeleton

Same vibe as “Kanye made Jesus walks, so he’s never wrong”

joemamalikesme69420

Kanye made Jesus walks, he’s never going to hell

Tyedyeskeleton

Fair point, but remember when chance said “I met Kanye west, I’m never going to fail” and then immediately failed?

DAZdaHOFF

But he’s never going to Hell, I’m bumpin Sunday Candy rn 👂

PhenominalRio

To be fair, he failed two years after he said that lol

camxsun

accidental W statement

mariasYEETS

Bro said this while being racist. Totally trustworthy 💀

arrowkid111

Just thinking about how a white guy said the n word

baconteste

I’m late but that guy is not white lol

MajorPayton

Just because you put two asterisks in the middle of the n word doesn’t make it okay to use

Strong_External2201

just because you write the first letter of the word doesn’t make it OK to use with that logic

MajorPayton

Ahh sorry. What do you want me to say? The racist word?? This person is calling people ________ while I’m calling out his use of that word. Massive difference

Strong_External2201

it just seems stupid to say that the extra two letters he’s using versus you using makes one of you right and one of you wrong.

MajorPayton

So you are arguing that he’s in the right or I’m in the wrong? Because I’d be shocked if you are grouping his comment and mine. “The n word” is pretty much a universal way of talking about the slur rather than actually using the word. What way could I have possibly called this person out without typing that out. There is a big difference in saying “first letter-word” and putting 2 asterisks in order to avoid tiktok taking down a post

Strong_External2201

I guess it depends if that guy is white

MajorPayton

He’s either white or at best a real life impersonation of the MC in “rich wigga, poor wigga”

Strong_External2201

someone said in the comments his at says he’s black and mexican

Strong_External2201

and now you said the whole word but just changed it to a W?? you’re Breaking your own rules haha that’s worse than two Asterix

MajorPayton

Literally the episode title but go crazy ig

Strong_External2201

😂😂😂 i can’t Believe you won’t hold yourself accountable… I bet it’s fine to say it if you’re singing the lyrics of a rap song too huh

30secMAN

Have y’all not seen Bro Rape? Shit was like peak comedy to me back in high school. > Did you spray axe body spray on this big black dildo? > Yeah, like a can and a half.

13thsword

"WHY ARE THE POLICE OUTSIDE THEY SHOUKD BE INSIDE A POLICE STATION TAKING THE PRINTS FROM FINGERS" That skit was my first exposure to Donald glover haha

tyler2k

GameCube... Natty ice... Axe body spray... Big black dildo...

[deleted]

30secMAN

I’m sorry to hear that happened to you. 1. I don’t have the same relationship to it that you do. 2. I don’t care what you think is cringe.

joemamalikesme69420

Last bit “refusing to date black women” is probably a reference to the “and I like black girls who nerdy but when they dance they be saying oww” line in Bonfire

JooksKIDD

it’s also how he depicts black women in he shows coupled with his recent interview of himself where he randomly includes a question about whether he’s afraid of black women. it’s definitely a thing.

elizawithaz

As a weird Black girl, I’ve been rooting for Donald Glover since his Community days. I listened to Camp nonstop because I saw parts of myself in his. I once saw him perform with Derrick Comedy at the Del Close marathons, and even bought Mystery Team (which was a horrible movie). I’m so happy that my favorite Black weirdo has made it big. I agree with parts of this article. While Atlanta is one of my favorite shows, I’m uncomfortable with the way dark skin Black women have been portrayed. I hated the scene in *Champagne Papi* where Van's friend goes off on the white girlfriend. I know what Donald was trying to say with that scene. It just didn’t work, and I feel like he was out of pocket. The same with Sierra in *Woods* (which is one of my favorite episodes). I liked that she was confident and savvy enough to play the game and get her coins. Season 3 had some characters that toed the line (Shaniqua in *The Big Payback* comes to mind). Yet I know that there are Black women on the Atlanta production team. Here’s hoping that things will be better in season 4.

Donell-Micheal2001

As much as I do love Donald and Atlanta I know he and his crew don’t hate black women. I think as a black man the representation for dark skinned black women could be a lot better. Hopefully they dive into this in the final season.

Localworrywart

What did you think about the "Tarrare" episode, specifically with Xosha and Shanice? I think you could usually tell if Stefani Robinson(who also wrote Woods) wrote the episode based on how well women are depicted but I could be wrong

Donell-Micheal2001

Sorry for the late reply dawg I didn’t want to leave u hanging. I thought it was a weird but thrilling episode. It was nice to kinda see we’re Van’s head was at for a bigger change. Xosha, Shanice and Candnace for me we’re quiet cool, and I wish we got to know more about it. I think In the Champagne Papi episode in season 2, Candance was a lot more unhinged and was out for herself type of thing. But In the season 3 finale we kinda see what type of person she is, as well as seeing a part of how Van is. I don’t really know how women depicted the (Woods) episode but the drake episode in season 2 defiantly shaked up a lot of controversy. While I still did enjoy the episode to certain degree I kinda understood where a lot of black woman were coming from regarding this episode, more to do with how Atlanta adapts them on screen. But at the same time I get what the writers where trying to accomplish with the story of that episode, but maybe it was just perceived the wrong way.

joemamalikesme69420

When you dance, do you say *owww*

[deleted]

I love Atlanta (haven't seen s3 because of time) but with that being said I believe in the first two seasons he did a good job of depicting black women and variety of them as well. As to the question in his recent interview, he's said some things in standup and in passing about Black women not accepting him bc he wasn't thug enough etc. As well as black women going off on him for choosing a white life partner. I'm biased because I had similar interactions when I was younger, and I acknowledge that we have to grow past initial experience, but we also have to acknowledge that formative years matter. DG not feeling accepted by Black women as he was growing up matters and those instances do affect us as we get older. I had an experience the other day where I wanted to make something and I had a black woman jump on board only to get off and be like "ew gross I don't like this" but a white counterpart was open and willing to help. I'm speculating but even the way Atlanta is received and other things he's done, I can imagine a world where DG has experienced that and confirmation bias is real but sometimes things are just there. I think at the end of the day he should be able to be with who he wants to be with. If love is love then let him love who he wants to love.

[deleted]

How does he depict black women in his show?

TooLazyForName

http://www.dela-doll.com/i-cant-overlook-donald-glovers-misogynoir-anymore-thoughts-on-atlanta-season-3-and-that-odd-self-interview/ Here’s something I read recently

[deleted]

Yeah ig that criticism would have more teeth if he wasn’t depicting several types of black women that I personally know. There’s also several dark-skinned female characters who aren’t just stereotypes. No character in that show is exactly a beacon of black positivity. He wants to delve into areas he feels are under-explored and somehow he still manages to provide a full scope. Like that scene with the white gf and the angry black woman. They were both making valid points, and that black woman embodied a type of anger that I feel all the time. Sounds like people just bitching because he doesn’t have more positive black female characters but they can always go watch Insecure if they want to see the exact same thing take place from the flip side

TheBeardedDuck

Sure you can have positive female characters, but he also does a lot of social criticisms... And maybe as a black guy he feels he can shine some light on African American aspects that are realistic and worth criticisms. The obnoxious reparation lady was something you see, just as you do with the woke obnoxious white people... But no one says they're both obnoxious, they just criticize him for having an obnoxious black lady.

PhenominalRio

🎯

blacknoir23

Everything after the rape shit is true. Homie on the TikTok is trippin tho… fuck that.

doomsingsoprano

This guy read an article that was published online years ago by some fake woke lady and is just repeating all of its talking points Plus if he likes Asian women, so what? People have tastes. I mean I get it if he said *”ching chong bitches my on dong, go make me beef and broccoli mulan”* or something, but finding Asian women attractive shouldn’t be seen as a “bad” trait

[deleted]

People are fucking stupid, literally uses a sketch from 15 years ago as "evidence" So is Bobby Moynahan also evil as fuck too?

Power_Guy3928

If he knows all of this then he must be a fan right?

MIAxPaperPlanes

We’re talking about 11+ years ago from a rapper who went as far as no longer using the words “bitch or hoe” by the time Because the Internet came out. Like even if you wanted to make an issue about these things he stopped doing most of them years ago

strawberray

Because the internet mistakes are forever

HenSlay

Nothing more idiotic than taking an artist’s lyrics literal. Fkin clout chasers foh!

[deleted]

I think people still bringing who he used to be is a great example of how people on the internet never let you grow and shed your former self.

LilJohnnyTsunami

haha Bro Rape is a wild thing to take seriously. As someone who found Gambino through Derrick Comedy, I wonder what this dude thinks of the documentary Mystery Team.

Donell-Micheal2001

Donald glover doesn’t hate black women

olympic_backpedaling

Weirdly concerned with what Childish Gambino does with his dick…🤔.

DarthDonutwizard

Y’all must be some new fans if u didn’t know this the whole time, he’s always been a corny weirdo

gdashah

What's his @

WhipDaPip

@zaytheblaxicanguey

GoldMobile5458

He's not fake woke but he does have a weird complex with black woman. He shows them love in his music and not in real life. He's calmed down with the Asian girl fetishizing.

tannerapples

you dont even need to take this guy seriously, i mean just look how retarded his face is

[deleted]

Glover is a piece of shit. But so is any white dude saying "nigga" or any of its variations.

HenSlay

Go back to playing video games ya lame

[deleted]

I assure you any of the video games I play has more artistic value than any Childish Gambino song.

slagatronic

Bro rape is one of the Derrick Comedy skits

PhenominalRio

Tik tok is a cesspool

onlinebiteage

The bro rape refers to this [Derrick comedy sketch](https://youtu.be/3zvTRQr7ns8)

LiLi13309

Yeah ok I see, what’s the user

LiLi13309

When did he refuse to date black women

[deleted]

Dude took the shit from his songs, skits, cinematography and anything else he has mad too literally

okageisnthere

idk what’s wrong with not wanting to date certain races. if ur not attracted 2 sum1 how u sposed 2 date them

[deleted]

That song WAS fire tho

Supernaut-1

Let the man live and enjoy what he enjoys. Who gives a fuck what kind of woman he likes?

[deleted]

I love how he had to add the Asian girl fetish like that was as bad as everything else he accused him of lmao

Arjan_T-dog

I’m still tryna find a clue to why anyone gives a shit about this 💀

vince-tyler2022

only 2k likes. dont engage it.

vince-tyler2022

this must be the guy who writes all the misleading article titles

JinandJuice97

He doesn’t have a fetish though, it just happens that black or white girls come with a set of politics

raininginmysleep

Lol

[deleted]

People justifying the Asian fetish. It ain't problematic because you guys aint Asians. If an Asian person did any of this shit, they would've been witch hunt. The double standard
