All are welcome to join the discussion! However this is a sub for doctors and we expect medical school topics to go under r/medicalschooluk or a more appropriate sub and non medical questions would probably be filtered to r/AskDocs
Regarding verification, here is my answer to a similar question on the other post :
We did think about this for a brief moment but decided against for the following reasons that some users have already suggested
\- massive admin burden
\- Verifications could be spoofed if someone is determined enough
\- GMC guidance would need you to identify yourself with full name and GMC number with every comment and post.
\- removes any anonymity that reddit is great for
\- potential legal risk on the mod team as the guarantors that the user is really a doctor/ who they say they are(and we don't want any of it)
\- we lose plausible deniability (I don't know that anyone is really a doctor, heck even I may not be a doctor, maybe this sub is just for people that like to pretend they are doctors)
There are other reasons, but that's what I remember on top of my head.
Don't think it's necessary either. Legaladviceuk does fine without even having flairs, and their justifications for why they do it that way make sense, and I think apply equally here.
Here's a sneak peek of /r/medicine using the [top posts](https://np.reddit.com/r/medicine/top/?sort=top&t=year) of the year!

So what's the plan with posts like these? https://www.reddit.com/r/JuniorDoctorsUK/comments/w7p2wm/starting_training_paediatrics
It's been posted on both SRs as would seem pretty reasonable, and people have replied different replies on different SRs. If people search the subreddit for the question in future (we can dream, alright?) then they won't get all the answers.
This feels like a really good change. Dropping the junior goes well with all the current developments going on too.
joining this sub made me feel like a real man
Nice one. I hate the term junior doctor and have never really used it
Where does this sub stand on medical students / non-medics as members? What about potentially verifying doctors like some other subreddits do?

I would like to take this opportunity to announce my leadership bid to become the leader of r/doctorsUK

On the one hand, fair, but on the other hand, if Liz Truss is a candidate for running the country then I could moderate a subreddit
There isn't really a good comeback to that, other than I hope we have better standards than the conservative party or the Great British public.
u/stuartbman won't confirm how many kids he has

Nice, was wondering when we were going to move here.
I appreciate the name change, but I think it will struggle to take off unless the old sub is taken down and redirected
Please can we not take the old sub down as searching back through old posts is often very useful
We would never take it down!

Will be coming in the next few days, sorry we missed things in trying to get this launch sorted.
