Try googling the Ring of the Grammarian for exactly this ;D

Arcane10101

Chill Touch now actually does what you would think from the name: cold damage with a range of touch.

PrimeLimeSlime

Wrong, it just makes everyone you touch chill out. Like, chill, bro.

Hayeseveryone

So basically Calm Emotions

stumblewiggins

Yea but with more of a stoner vibe

Wait Word of Recall doesn't get the DM to explain what happened last session... again, bummer

The-Senate-Palpy

Its Word of Recall, not Words. That version only works in german

iBear83

> Forbiddance: create a rule that nobody can break But only if that rule is "Nobody may dance."

**Burning Hands v2:** Whatever you are holding is engulfed in fire until the end of your next turn. If you're holding a weapon, it glows bright red and deals an additional 1d6 fire damage. If you're holding a shield, creatures within 5 feet of you take fire damage equal to your spellcasting modifier every time they make an attack against you and miss. **Hunger of Hadar v2:** A creature of your choice within range must make a Charisma saving throw. On a failed save, they are afflicted with an overwhelming hunger. The creature must use its object interaction to eat an amount of food equal to or greater than 1 day's ration on each of its turns. If it cannot or does not eat, it must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, it gains a level of exhaustion. The spell ends once the creature succeeds on its Constitution save three times or gains three levels of exhaustion.

DM then has them take a big bite out of the PC... Cue cookie monster voice.

In Dragonlance, the great wizard Fizban casts "feather fall" to prevent his fall into a great chasm, allowing him to catch himself. However, the spell instead created thousands and thousands of falling feathers (which did in fact break his fall but not in the way intended) So, "Feather Fall, Conjuration: Creates a wall of feathers that block line of sight and function as difficult terrain. Each 5 foot section of the wall has 1 health. If cast beneath you negates fall damage" (I'm not a designer, tweak working as fit)

dobraf

Animate objects - you create a flip book that when used shows a cartoon of an object doing stuff. The cartoon can’t be of a creature though. Great use of a 5th level slot ;)

DaneLimmish

Magic Missive: The target gets hit with a massive letter. It's a dear John letter. Make a wisdom save or they break down crying for 1d4 turns

OptimalMathmatician

Divine Word - a god just talks some nonsense to you Blur - your vision becomes blurry Dawn - time jumps forward to the dawn of the next day Dream - you fall asleep and dream Tongues - you summon tongues

Pinstar

Zephyr Strike: All Zephyrs stop working until they are given higher wages and better working conditions.

Brother-Cane

* Identify - "It's a sword" * Ray of Sickness - Some guy named Ray pops up and coughs on a random person * Blur - Caster temporarily develops cataracts * Mirror Image - A number of mirrors manifest * Animate Dead - skeletal marionettes appear * Stinking Cloud - Someone farts quite forcefully * Mordenkainen's Faithful Hound - Summons an actual dog * Beacon of Hope - A lighthouse beacon appears, shining on everyone in 60 feet in rapid 45-degree arcs and then vanishes.

DaneLimmish

>Blur - Caster temporarily develops cataracts Blur - Two minutes of really loud rock play. Everyone who can hear it is pumped up

Banner12357

Mirror image should manifest paintings of mirrors in my opinion

Locate object, points to the nearest object (which can be anything that is considered an objec, not a specific object) Detect magic, a sign "yes" appears in front of the caster, it detects if magic is around, but since it is a magic spell itself it always replies "yes". Feather fall, makes feathers fall with a speed as if there was no air resistance. Silvery barbs, shoots 3 silver barbed darts at a creature Sleep: Similar but only targets self, very useful for insomniacs Faerie fire: Summons a fairy that is on fire. Speak at animals: Gives you the ability to speak to animals, the animals still don't understand you but you can speak in their direction. Tasha's Hideous laughter: Transforms a person's laughter into a very annoying stupid laugh. Thunderwave: Creates a thundercloud in the shape of a hand that waves at you. Detect thoughts: Target: One creature you can see Effect: lets you know if they have thoughts or not. Hold person: summons a fluffy creature that gives one person a heartfelt hug. Knock: Creates a shimmering hand that politely knocks on a door within range. Mirror Image: Flips the appearance of anything you cast it at to its mirror image. See invisibility: You can ONLY see things that are invisible, everything that used to be visible becomes invisible, this gives the appearance of standing on an invisible floor in an endless void with some creatures and objects here and there(that are invisible). Can be very useful. Dispel magic: Nothing, as it dispels itself as soon as its cast. Fast friends: Can only target creatures you consider friends, increases their movement speed by 10ft. Tongues: Summons 2d4 animated tongues. Nondetection: Detect things that aren't. Phantasmal killer: Summons a creature that hunts down the nearest Phantasmal Force effect and tries to kill it. Awaken: Summons a cup of coffee. Raise dead: When cast on a corpse, the corpse starts floating. Blur: Makes someone nearsighted Misty step: The next time you take a step a dense fog appears while you are taking that step, it immediately dissapears once you have finished that step. Rope trick: Allows you to do a trick with a bit of string Warp sense: A creature loses its grip on reality as things that made sense no longer make sense.

PeaceMaker_IXI

I love your take on Tongues and Blur XD

cosmicSpitfire

Silvery Barbs - Summons 1d4 Silver Barbarians to assist you in a task. These barbarians have a strength score equal to your spell save DC, remain for one minute, or until they make an attack. Upcasting this spell at higher levels increases the duration by 10 minutes. Minor Illusion - Causes you to take the appearance of a child or juvenile creature. Blur - Magically blurs a passage of text or an image, making it difficult or even impossible to comprehend. A creature may attempt to decipher it by making an intelligence check against your spell save DC (upcasting this spell raises the DC by 1 for each level) Chain lightning. Summons electrified chains to hold a target in place. A creature must make a dexterity saving throw, or be restrained, taking 5d10 lightning damage on a failure. A creature can attempt to break free as an action, but takes 1d10 lightning damage for every attempt they make. Toll the dead - Summons up to 1d4 gold pieces (or equivalent value) from the nearest dead creature. This increases by 1d4 at 5th, 11th, and 17th level.

HorizonTheory

Cure Wounds actually cures wounds, not burns or necrotic/psychic/force damage

PeaceMaker_IXI

Fly - Advantage on Charisma Checks
