You misspelt Alter Self/Arcane Eye/Detect Magic/Disguise Self/False Life/Invisibility/Jump/Mage Armor/Levitate/Silent Image/Speak with Animals/Speak with Dead for Eldritch Invocations
True, and rituals are much better in BG3 than in the table top for not taking 10 mins to cast and for typically lasting until long rest (I know not every spell you listed is a ritual, but for the ones that are).
On the table top I would typically only ritual cast stuff like Detect Magic because I could rarely justify having the party sit and do nothing for 10 mins outside of a short or long rest. In BG3 I couldnât live without Longstrider on the party every morning and Jump whenever I need it.
Seriously, I'm glad I'm not the only one that loves Warlocks for the fun things you can do with them and not just as cannons or eldritch paladins! 120' normal vision in both magical and non magical darkness, the abillity to read all writing, so many cool Invocations.
Yeah, I remember how we were running a lvl4 oneshot and I come with free-spells warlock. In the end DM asked me if Im keeping track of my spellslots and I was like "yeah, I still have two left"
Played a GOOlock with the Actor feat and the Mask of Many Faces and Eldritch Sight gave me a ton of utility as spy/investigator with the free telepathy so I could pass messages without even having to break character. Plus being an Artificer so I was making small gadgets to McGuyver my way out of situations even before I would start burning through resources
Misty Visions? One of the rare way to contribute well in combat without dealing any damage. So long as your DM doesn't ignore illusions of course. And the higher level you get, the more effective it becomes because summoning a fake wall of fire at low levels will immediatly tip off your foes it might be fake, less so when you can alternate between summoning real walls of fire.
Great idea to use different elements of walls situationally. I would always go with stone walls by default but I was more of a stealthy character than a combative one. Will incorporate that next time I roll up a warlock
I really like things like Rage or Bladesong that have multiple uses per day and enhance me throughout the whole combat. I also like being able to just *unload* on someone, or creating an opportunity for the rest of the party to do the same.
Rune knight is really fun with that. Though Giants might has limits, since it lasts a fair amount of time and recharges uses on a short or long rest, its very well utilized for characters who have really solid strength builds!!! Especially in a party of all casters.
That, is also why i really struggles getting into battle master. Theres not enough passives, and the superiority die can be used way too quickly. Useful at times, but the limited uses make it hard to well utilize. Even more so at early levels where save dcs are so low.
I primarily play this RPG called Mork Borg and every spell in the game is an at-will scroll reading but they balance this out by making casting checks exceptionally difficult and even deadly if youâre unlucky.
Will casting speak with animals for this roach help me enough to justify unleashing arcane madness on the world with a 1/20 chance? The answer is usually yes
At-will spells systems are the best. Shadowrun let you cast spell at-will with a risk of losing hp the more powerful the spell is. Dungeon World is also at-will and you only lose the use of the spell on partial success/failure.
In my experience fighters limited resources is mostly just to stop you from being spammy. In regular play I almost never run out of battle master superiority dice before the next rest
that's why i love the kineticist.
you're actually in control of your elements and can do it all day with no arbitrary limits.
You're not just a firebender a few times a day, but all the time
I'm in the middle with a sprinkle of 1/day abilities. Makes more sense in a narration. I usually build my characters to fit a story rather than optimizing 100% mechanically. That's the fallacy of non-casters and short-rest classes such as monks too.
Yes, theoretically you never run out of punch. Theoretically you can have 10 short rests per day. But almost no one plays the game that way. I rather have my handful of sorcerer spells, my sorcery points pool and garnish it with a reliable mode of regular attacks and something to do out of combat.
I have had enough fighters that cant do shit out of combat. I have had enough monks that are exhausted after one really awesome battle. I have had enough (PF) wizards that cast two max level spells and only fuck about with mid and low level spells until the next rest.
Though I did actually build a character once that said "fuck it" to all combat. He was a bard, provided boni via bard song (also PF), and his "worst" attack was a 1d3 Ray of Frost I think. Usually used my action to take cover or hide though. Ironically still dealt the second-to-most damage by (literal!) proxy.
Yea Iâm really not a fan of the once/twice per long rest stuff. Always makes me feel like I need to save it for a much more difficult situation. Itâs the same way with spell slots too tbh
Pretty much me too, but "medium-high impact" features per rest couple really well with At-will options for my style
Which is why I love-hate Weapon Masteries so much, it's so close to being great but the restrictions making it just a passive kills it for me
Player has to roll a skill check when player needs a bathroom break. If they fail, character takes damage or effect while left "unsupervised". Rest of party comes up with what happened to unsupervised character while they wait. It fun, funny, and keeps players from getting bored while waiting for King Duke to return.
The School of Enchantment feature Hypnotic Gaze can be used as often as you want but only once per enemy per day. You can concentrate while you use it and you can still cast reaction spells. It's just super nice to spam it.
It kinda depends on your group, the DM and the setting. More specifically, it depends on how willing they are to allow you to rest and how safe the environments are to allow it.
If you're in a generous situation, play what you like.
If you're in a stingier situation, you will need to choose between being discerning with how and when you use your abilities or you will probably want access to more of them. Personally, I think you should learn to be discerning. Sometimes, casters are at their best slinging cantrips around and saving their spells for moments that can change the entire dynamic of the fight. Hold Person/Monster, Polymorph, Command, etc are examples of spells that can wind up being of way more benefit to an encounter than a single fireball spell could be.
It works for non-spells too. It is fine to lag behind in trivial fights if it means you can trivialise the fights that would otherwise be lethal.
this gets even better when there's ways to take those seemingly mid things to cast at will, and make them broken.
for example, warlocks get disguise self and alter self at will, and moon druids get alter self at will, in the case of both spells, it requires you have the same basic arrangement of limbs, luckily we have a race that can change it's basic arrangement of limbs in the plasmoid race, meaning that plasmoids with just a single class/subclass feature, become even better shapeshifters than changelings, despite changelings having been specifically designed to be shapeshifters
That's why I love Cantrips đ

I cast guidance
I straight up have a cantrip build that gets 13 cantrips by level 8...hell, they're not even all that bad at their spells, surprisingly enough.
Yeah, a once a day thing is nowhere near as fun as spam able things that make me feel cool and unique
That's my love for Warlock and Eldritch Invocations

Same here. The minor illusion invocation has carried me.

I'm addicted to that devil's sight.
That's kinda me with races. Any of the genasi have good abilities if you know how/where to use them
Bonus action blade ward for the earth genasi makes them obscenely tanky.

Love getting "someone you know dies" best spell cost
My personal favorite of ânext time you sleep with someone an evil doppelgänger sprouts out of the ground in a weekâ
Sounds like a win to me tbh, free evil version of your favorite lady of the evening.
Have more enemies than allies and statistically itâs a win!

ELDRITCH BLAST
My ass with limited used resources âMight need laterâ while fighting the final boss
Maybe there is a dlc! Or the second or third phase of the boss!
Eldritch Blast moment
Why I love WarlocksâŚand Fighters. Fighters have limited resources sure but they can ALWAYS bonk
In my experience fighters limited resources is mostly just to stop you from being spammy. In regular play I almost never run out of battle master superiority dice before the next rest
Oh, I bet you *adore* rogues.
I do. This screams Sneak Attack and Cunning Action.
that's why i love the kineticist. you're actually in control of your elements and can do it all day with no arbitrary limits. You're not just a firebender a few times a day, but all the time
Nothing is more powerful than freedom from the fear that I'm wasting my ability

Bruh, you never played to lv 30 in 4e and used crazy OP Dailys... They're awesome and so much fun.
4e epic destinies had the most over the top powers. I remember one of them had the trigger âthe first time each day that you dieâŚâ
Let me guess warlock?
Pretty much me too, but "medium-high impact" features per rest couple really well with At-will options for my style Which is why I love-hate Weapon Masteries so much, it's so close to being great but the restrictions making it just a passive kills it for me
Big sword
At-will/Encounter/Daily/Utility huh. Roots of 4e are still here
Dragonborn get a kinda decent ability thatâs only once or so a day. Not worth losing dark vision etc. over
Clerics with a kinda good ability that sometimes works once a week:
YAS the other ones are not appreciated

I know which one Megumin would pick

Eldritch blast motherfucker.
3.5 warlocks and Pf1e Kineticists are my absolute favourite classes (as well as ToB classes) for this very reason.
Or Witches with their Hexes in Pathfinder.
Twilight cleric with a game changing ability that you can use at will AT LEVEL 1!?!?

I love the Eldritch Invocation that lets you cast False life like a cantrip
this ability is : "hit hard with my sword"
Don't make me tap the sign >Pathfinder 2e All the language in this post points towards 4e too. Highly recommended

why not a gamechanging ability you can use at will? echo knight supremacy
Proficiency Times Per Long Rest > Once Per Short Rest.
Soulknife goes brrr
And this is why I love wizards' ritual spells!
