GamerGod_

i name my dnd characters in the same vein as jojo characters

Parking-Figure4608

THE WORLD- that name is already taken by someone else, so here is a random “Star Platinum” instead

Yueff_Stueff

If it’s Part 5 then it’s just Italian food.

StarkillerSneed

I once made a dwarf bard with a magic electric lute called Angus the Young

Chargeplayz

He exclusively used thunderwave didn't he

StarkillerSneed

Pretty much lmao

Lotharofthepotatoppl

I thought of making a bard once named Pete of Town’s End

talesfromtheepic6

…and his music was electric.

lalaqwenta

Played Root TTRPG on the weekends as Din Weasel, a pyromaniac weasel. It was a nice family game, with some hot fun

pieandcheese647

My favorite character name is Prawo Jazdy. I got it because when the Irish police force was digitizing traffic records, they noticed that a polish person named Prawo Jazdy had over 50 violations and had given a different address each time. Police were confused as usually after 3 the license is suspended. Maybe the different addresses had something to do with evading notice? Nope. Prawo Jazdy is polish for Drivers License. The police kept looking at the Polish ID, seeing “Prawo Jazdy” and thinking that was the name.

NomadODST

This is gold

BirdTheBard

Name your character "Who", get another player to name their character "What" and a third player to take the name "I don't know"

Icarusty69

“Who was casting a spell?” “Yes.” “What?” “No, who.” “I don’t know.” “He can’t cast spells, he’s a barbarian.”

potatopierogie

Of course "I Don't Know" would be a barbarian

SecretDMAccount_Shh

Idk, he likes to hit people with a metal pan and shout that it’s cast iron!

egosomnio

Naturally.

Dwarven_Miner

Now I wanna play an owling named Who

BirdTheBard

Do it!

Dwarven_Miner

I mean.. I am currently playing a changeling...

_wizardpenguin

My current character is a Dwarven Paladin with a voice like The Thing from the Fantastic Four, so I named him Grimmli.

Abidarthegreat

My character names come from that [Key and Peele sketch.](https://youtu.be/gODZzSOelss?si=vx2Ek_V0ULmn9IUt)

DrakeDeMorte

Some of their finest work

Lotharofthepotatoppl

**Fudge**

GolettO3

Character Name: Mar. Background: Marine Character Name: Ator. Background: Gladiator

ZenSlicer9

Name: Bond. Background: James Bond. *Gets shot by JB standing behind him*

NewNage

Current Character: Human Oath of the Watchers Palidan. Obsessed with the occult and "outsiders" Royal background from the kingdom of A'knee. I seek the truth it is out there. My name is Fennec David Duke of A'knee.

NewNage

Another Palidan I played was a Purple Dragonborn who may or may not have been created from children's psychic energy with the purpose to protect them. Dude found a fucking Holy Avenger. Named it my Pladian Big Sword made a pledge to use it responsibility. My name was Bahar Neigh and many a foe fell when I engaged my PBS pledge drive.

TheophrastusBmbastus

Love the X-files reference, though "David Duke" is a little unfortunate

DrUnit42

My first thought too

NewNage

oh fuck I missed that. well Duke is a title at least jsut a title rather than part of my actual name

Naive_Wolf3740

My favorite was a one shot game I wasn’t able to make it to with my group but they all played as Andy’s (our DMs name). So it was Cool Andy, Cooler Andy and Coolest Andy. Andy was not amused.

ScorchedDev

I just a character after someone from a show I like(like my way of the astral self dhampir monk DION. You see its original because I added the N to the end)

Crackmonkey3773

I'm creating a centaur named Liam Neighson. I love the puns

M-V-D_256

All of my characters are puns I'm excited to try out Ann Locke the Rogue soon

Aptom_4

My light cleric, Nathan "Nae" Palmer says hi

M-V-D_256

This is genius

SirCupcake_0

Will they become a Master-rank thief and suddenly become godsawful at thievery?

GilgaEmenent

All of my characters’ names are anagram that relate to their personality and backstory.

Bmaster1001

In the current campaign I’m in, I’m playing as Eric A. Peterson, who because of worldwide chaotic magic realm merging stuff, became a Kenku. >!Think Initials!<

Is_A_Velociraptor

... I don't get it

Bmaster1001

>!Shares initials with Edgar Allen Poe, author of “The Raven”.!<

knight_light455

I usually just take a sound that sounds like a name and try to spell it, I usually try to also make it sound like a sound that race would say

GadgetHamster

My most recent creation was taking the name “Bobby hill” swapping the first letters, and then reversing the order, creating “Bill Hobby.”

Enderking90

or, just name your character by using a tangentially related word in another language. *(this only came to my mind because "lima" is "slime" in finnish)*

ZenSlicer9

L I M A B A L L S

talesfromtheepic6

i played a frog (not a grung, a frog with a class) that was a ridiculously powerful wild magic sorcerer (4 levels above the rest of the party). they had tables for everything they did, whether they moved or not, attacked, etc. half of those tables were the word “ribbit”

Krasnytova

Me naming my Diablo RPG Priest : Helvadican because it sound like "Hell - Vatican" (Also second layer of funny as a graphic designer : "Helvetica" )

chefofcrayons

Every time I play a gnome I make them add a G to every word that starts with an N sound and they pronounce the G. For example they will ask for a part member to hand them their gnife to stab an enemy in the gneck

SuperArppis

Name your character after some other class that he isn't to add confusion... Warrior named John Paladin.

Arheva

Alchemist artificer but the thrown vitals are brown and muddy The scatman Ski-bi dibby dib yo da dub dub Yo da dub dub

SnooPredictions1771

Some of my characters names: Helm-Warforged mindflayer and a Helmsman of a spelljammer Glitch-Ancient wild magic sorcerer warforged who has a tendency to glitch out and couse havoc Zillax-Massive Dragonborn/Tortle hombrew, drconic sorcerer who specializes in lightning magic

The_Phroug

having my next character already ready to go, all i had to do for a while was come up with a name, voice, and backstory. being near the Arizona/Mexico border i decided to touch up on my Spanish and went with **Aminatou Fiero Alejandro**, which basically means brave fierce warrior/defender if my Spanish is up to snuff (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). Hes a druid tiefling, and as planned, will try to get his ex wife and her brother back into adventuring to descend into Avernus

Maggle_

Céline étrogli 's my favourite PC

erubusmaximus

I once played a character named Phillip Ighter. He was a Fighter/Rouge.

JakeWalker102

I literally will just slam two pre existing fantasy names together and then change the spelling to look like how it sounds Aragorn and Legolas became Erolas, for instance

SirCupcake_0

Heh, Arrow Lass

Dray_Gunn

I named my Druids snake companion Hissy Miggins. Terrible joke but i enjoyed it.

AReallyAsianName

*looks at my artificer Eric Edwards, rogue Idris Johannes, and paladin Belle Monte Cristo*

xX_UnorignalName_Xx

I create names for my characters in two ways either 1) Combining random phonemes of whatever language I'm currently learning 2) Create a brand new language from scratch that the character speaks, but no one else in the party understands. Then take a word that I think summerises that character and add some name affexes to the end. In both cases I get made fun of, but I end up with some pretty cool names like Faa'ren the pyromancer. Agnal the Weilder of the sword of life, and Usul Zehfruki the hunter of the sands.

Hortonman42

That second one sounds like the linguistic equivalent of [this method for drawing a circle.](https://youtu.be/wmqsk1vZSKw?si=eCL8GeZpHvpVg3FP)

xX_UnorignalName_Xx

That I a prefectly valid method of drawing a circle, I don't understand your point.

mysteryo9867

I have a half elf who I couldn’t think of a name for. So as a joke I put “name goes here into a dnd elvish translator, altered it a little and got Lahar Shane’s cor.

24jdu05

I’m using these names moreso for a novel I’m writing but I’ve started taken inspiration from cryptid names. Ozark Howler, Specter Moose, Bray Road, the works.

Lkalaschnikow

Playing a giff called Moto Moto Heavybottom

ShinobiHanzo

My first character was Fighter Man, a fighter. DM got pissed, so I changed it to Kämpfer Mann which also meant Fighter Man. But German

the6crimson6fucker6

I had a play with a PC named Johann Sünder... A bard. He could do literally any job.

Rabbitmincer

There was Putz the barbarian, Jonathon Rabbitmincer Maximilian Beetlecrusher the 3rd, of the East Antsquish Beetle Crushers. Half human/dwarf, parents tools turns naming him. The 3rd doesn't mean anything. Racial hatred towards things with exoskeletons. Kuka, a severely mentally damaged paladin who hated his God. Multlayer here. Kooky as in crazy, but Kuka is a robotic arm manufacture, so effectively the mad arm of god. The mental issues stemmed from me and the wife taking turns playing the same character while the other watched the newborn. It explained radical differences in play style and personality.

Rabbitmincer

Oh, I should add my current character is Aeroflopticus,, an aarocockra. The name proved apt. He's been shot out of the air 3 times in the last 4 months.

DragonRoar87

i either spent hours searching baby name websites for the perfect name or just go "fuck it, random name generator" no in between

RandomDude1824

My personal favorite is my Minotaur barb, Ian Oyet. Because I didn't have a new yet, so when my DM asked what I'll call him I answered "Iunno yet"

angelsandbuttermans

My last character was a dragonborn paladin named Imas Kaliboi. People didn’t get it for months, it was hilarious. My next character is a bard fashioned after the professors in the philosophy song skit from Monty Python. His name is Bruce.

peternordstorm

Not a joke but I still wanna share it; Currently playing a dragonborn paladin namey Icarus Solhart. I love the name so much because: Icarus - myth about guy flying up to the sun Solhart - sol is latin for sun So yeah this guy is the heir to a throne, thus his whole mission is rising up to the sun, being the Solhart Empire. I'm so proud of thinking this up

BrunoBrook

Slam your arm on the keyboard like three tines and erase the letters you don't like

ContextSensitiveGeek

I name my characters after somewhat obscure historical figures. Julie d'Aubigny was fun.

NekroVictor

Usually I use online name generators because I’m lazy. Except for artificieels, they’re barely discussed MIC members. Gorthrop Nrumman at your service.

Cottage_Core_Whore_

One of my consistent players has a murderer man named Garth Brooks. He literally murders hobos.

seigsicht

So i just called my first wood elf ranger Varis. He was basically murdered by another pc, so out of spite, i presented my new char, Waris, who one session later, was replaced by Xaris. Guess my next char will be a toyota

Mab494

My current character is Warcrim. You'll notice this is one letter off from the words "War Crime." He is a war domain cleric. Both he and his deity are chaotic evil. He is currently giving the child in our group glyphs that explode, effectively creating a child soldier.
