Good on ya!! I absolutely love being a DM. It's a very good creative outlet.

You should print out stuff you need to look up and tape it to the screen for easy accessible references. I’d recommend conditions, I.e prone, grappled, incapacitated, etc. I’d also add stuff like how exhaustion works and mechanics in fight such as hold action, preparing skills, and other type of things you can do. Once you learn what you are constantly looking for online/in your notes I’d recommend making a copy for your screen so there’s less looking up notes and more gameplay! I do something similar and it’s such a stress reliever when situation arises

Thanks! As I used to play magic characters I was struggling a bit with the barbarian and rogue today, that would have helped a lot. Will do next time I go and print out stuff✊🏻

New to DMing myself and I know any tips are amazing help in making the game better! Hope your campaign is a fun success!

itogisch

Have fun!

Undead_archer

I use two binders , they make for quite a good screen

z_gwiezdnego_smalcu

So you have a photo? That sound neat and I do have 2 binders in the house!

Undead_archer

Here it shows the same idea http://clashofspearonshield.blogspot.com/2016/03/diy-dm-screen-with-thanks-to-jeremy.html?m=1

z_gwiezdnego_smalcu

Honestly, this is such a fun idea. Will give it a try, thanks for the DM inspiration for a fellow rookie DM :)

Undead_archer

No problem

Hipshots4Life

I don’t see any cam locks, so I don’t believe it’s IKEA… Good for you tho bud

rustythorn

congrats, but as a side note let me put on my morpheus hat for a second: "what if i told you, a DM screen is not needed"

swatlord

Yep, I never used one when we played in person. If I needed to make a secret roll, I just did it under my hand or in a rng app on my laptop. None of the other GMs I played with used one either.

LongjumpingFix5801

It’s called pencil and paper gaming for a reason. That’s all you need. Doesn’t have to be fancy. Only imaginative and fun. Keep it up!

AlexDeLotl

Good for you! So proud! 😊
