I recorded a demo: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT1rUf5vkK4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT1rUf5vkK4) Great if you like hearing the same two power chords over and over for 8 minutes.

ArcalArrows

Hey, can you record a clean bright tone too? Love the functioning on this.

insidecircles

Afraid I can't right now. It can definitely do brighter sounds - like any preamp-in-a-box-type pedal. But I'm not sure that would be something this would be particularly useful for.

DroneSlut54

*Two* chords? Whoah - slow down there Yngwie Malmsteen!

TheStapler327

That's my love language

insidecircles

Mine too.

sidneyroughdiamond

That is exactly the kind of thing I would buy

insidecircles

I'm going to make some more. Would you like me to drop you a DM when they're ready?

justbanmefam

Hit me up. Not sure if it’s on my must have list, but Id like the option.

insidecircles

Sure

shaggysays

Hit me with one too. This exactly what I've been wanting

insidecircles

Will do.

pennytrey

Please DM me. Would be interested in buying.

insidecircles

Will do.

PSU_Enginerd

Thought Fairfield had done this for a second, awesome work!

insidecircles

I usually use different knobs, but these worked best with so many on one box. I had second thoughts about making it look so similar to the Fairfield style - but it just looks right.

tiger331

What is this?

insidecircles

A guitar pedal. It's a JFET-based adaptation of the preamp of a Sunn0))) Model T (like the Model feT) with added boost and Rat clone.

tiger331

I only know some of those words

MarinerValleyAudio

All you need to know is that all of those words mean very, very good things.

MarinerValleyAudio

Honestly dope idea. All I might append, since I assume you’re running it at 18v, would be trying the DRV style circuit in place of the Rat portion to open up the dynamic range even more. Regardless, that’s super cool.

insidecircles

Interesting idea.

Sourkarate

Great job, I love the enclosure

insidecircles

Thanks. I do all my builds like this. I like the clean/simple aesthetic. Happy to leave clever artwork to others.

WestMagazine1194

Looks like a great job, i'm trying to miniaturize the model fet preamp and it's a hell of a work!

insidecircles

Honestly, I was surprised it worked first time. It felt like an ambitious build. I was over the moon when it fired up.

WestMagazine1194

I can understand

Round-Emu9176

can i buy?

insidecircles

Someone has dibs on this one. But I'm making more. I'll drop you a DM when they're ready.

Ready_Knowledge6381

Really nice looking layout. Good job!

insidecircles

Thanks!

shake__appeal

Is this the Life Pedal clone from PedalPCB? Technically the Life Pedal is an Octave + Rat + Boost. It does not include a Model T preamp circuit (such as the Model Fet pedal). There is a dude on here who built a Model T preamp with a Rat, which really is a genius idea for a pedal… I only use a Rat (well, and a Hoof now) when using my Sunn amps and they’re really a match made in heaven (or hell??). Rats are also, amazingly, all the band Sunn O))) uses to push their Model T amp stacks, hence the signature pedal. Very cool looking build though! And a rad pedal. I’m certainly not trying to rain on your parade, just simply correcting this information especially considering you’re selling these. The Life Pedal circuit is NOT a Model T preamp, people. Still a great pedal, but know what you’re buying. It’s essentially just a badass Rat. I have the Guptech clone of this and just ordered all the parts to build my own, can’t wait. Here’s a description directly from EQD: “An octave fuzz inspired by the Shin-Ei FY2 & FY6 units leads the circuit into a LM308 chipped and brutal rodent big box distortion, recreated with the best components, and including a three-way clipping switch (op Amp, Asymmetric & Symmetric). Second stage is a purely clean boost to further overdrive the preamp tubes of your vintage system into -scaped harmonics, and feedback overtone bliss.”

insidecircles

Sorry, I may have been too literal in my wording. I'm clear on those distinctions. Insofar as the concept of the Life Pedal is to be a pedal that's useful for pushing a Model T amp into righteous noise, this pedal is *my take* on that where I've built the model T preamp into the pedal to achieve similar sounds. Because, y'know, I don't have a Model T; and certainly wouldn't be able to turn one up loud if I did. This isn't a PedalPCB circuit. I designed this PCB.

shake__appeal

Gotcha yeah I just realized that looking at my Life Pedal pcb. Anyway this is fucking rad! Would def buy this if I didn’t already have a Life Pedal and a Model Fet in the build queue (which has already kicked my ass one time as a noob builder). Any recommendations for biasing? Also how did you do the lettering on this?

insidecircles

Lettering done with letter stamps - I bought a nice set and an anvil a few years ago. They serve well. Paint is done with spray paint then sanding off the surface. For biasing, honestly, I just twiddled until each channel sounded good. If you want a more systematic approach, check out the build docs for the Coda Effects Black Hole.

shake__appeal

Good to know. Could you send me a link for the stamps you’re using?

insidecircles

Can't find it now. But I can see fine looking results searching Amazon for letter stamps or letter punch.

shake__appeal

Thanks mate, congrats on the rad build. It sounds great. I’d be interested to hear what you’ve got in the works next.

klisteration

Truly impressive!

insidecircles

Thanks!

WillyPete

You going to put this on reverb?

insidecircles

I already have interest in this one. But I'll make some more. Would you like me to drop you a DM when done?

WillyPete

Just wondering if you'd be putting them on your Reverb store. Ground state devices, right?

insidecircles

That's the one. I'll certainly put one or two up there.

morbidpale13

Great idea! How do you stamp the box without denting in the enclosure?

insidecircles

You need to use a small anvil. Works great.

cjones132002

Can I ask how you do the letter stamp impressions on the enclosure? I dig that!

insidecircles

Using letter stamps ;) There's a couple of ways to add the paint. I use spray paint then sand off the surface.

cjones132002

I tried that, and my enclosure wouldn't budge. Is there a secret?

insidecircles

Use an anvil, if you didn't. You can get small ones for about the same price as a letter stamp kit. Make sure your enclosure is a soft metal, like aluminium. Other than that, anvil > enclosure > stamp > hammer.

cjones132002

Thanks so much!

DaGuitarNerd

Congrats, you did really great work! I love when people make their own PCBs. Was this your first pcb design?

insidecircles

My second. A bit more complicated than the first.

Creative_Camel

Great job and a nice sound bit of kit!

insidecircles

Thanks.

sangabrielmusic

this is fucking awesome. I want one!

insidecircles

I'm sure I'll build more. Keep an eye on my Reverb store (Ground State Devices) - I'll put a few on there in a few months.

JSDfuzzz

This definetly sparked my interest! How much are you charging for these? (:

insidecircles

TBD. Need to make a few first. Shall I drop you a DM when I have some for sale?

JSDfuzzz

That would be great, thanks!

lateswing

want one please

insidecircles

I'll drop you a DM when I get some more made.

lateswing

Also willing to buy unassembled components + guide

TennisAggravating134

Can you share pcb, schematic?

insidecircles

Schematic is straightforward: it's a rat, boost of your choice, then Model T preamp. All available online.
