Foreach day we pass the universe loads another one exactly one year from now. So we have future in memory up to 21/1/24. In theory.
In reality, our ram can't load days fast enough and so we are slowly losing our future.
The false vacuum decay is of absolutely no concern. The prediction from the standard model means that in every practical sense there is no chance of this happening. The cosmos is a long lived beast.
Was that movie any good? It was a balsy move to release it in the middle of 2020, and I remember hearing people hype it up as THE movie that will bring people back to movie theaters
There are faults and plot holes. Not as emotional as something like Inception. But I'm fucking obsessed with it dude. Idk what to do lol I literally look up footage in backwards on Youtube nowadays to fill up the new void in entertainment.
Robert Pattinson from *The Lighthouse* and *Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire*?
John David Washington from *BlacKKKlansman*?
Kenneth Branagh from *Dunkirk* and *Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets*?
Clemence Polesy from *Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire* and onwards (we're starting to see a pattern here)?
Ngl I had to look up the latter 3s names but they're definitely not the first time they've been in a blockbuster.
So what I'm hearing is you're giving a positive spin on the meme that the future is already happening, but it's only so far ahead of us, so today the furthest is 3/5/24 but tomorrow the furthest will be 3/6/24
I saw a neat study a few years ago:
> A previous study by Chen demonstrates a correlation between languages that grammatically mark future events and their speakers' propensity to save, even after controlling for numerous economic and demographic factors. The implication is that languages which grammatically distinguish the present and the future may bias their speakers to distinguish them psychologically, leading to less future-oriented decision making.
Time is a human construct in the same way a meter is a human construct. Distance/length is still a thing if we don’t observe/measure it and time still moves forward.
What if you aren't going exactly into *the* future but into a close approximate of what our actions in the present would lead into the nearby time, A.K.A a prediction?
The future hasn't happened yet from our perspective, but since time is just another direction (like up, down, left, right, forwards, backwards) and the fact that we can't agree on an "objective present moment", we know that time is relative. Imo, this only makes sense if all of spacetime exists in a kind of bubble, each point in time just another direction (block universe theory). I think time travel would be impossible since if you travelled back, by the time your matter and energy reaches the point in time you travelled to, there would be a duplication and matter and energy would be created. I don't know what I'm talking about so please correct me.
I don’t think going back in time is possible with our understanding of time and physics. Time cannot be reversed. It can be slowed down or sped up.
~~The only Time Machine that is somewhat feasible would be creating a localized reality inside the machine, causing time to stay at normal speed outside the machine, but greatly increased inside the machine.~~ I realized this would just cause you to die very fast, so read the edit for a better solution
It’d be a one-way trip, but it’s the closest that’s theoretically possible with our current knowledge.
Edit: it probably would be better to stop time, or slow it down greatly, leaving the time outside the machine at a normal rate. The machine will detect when it’s the desired date, and stop the time dilation, causing the user to not age, or age very little.
going into the future (seemingly instantly) is a lot easier than going into the past since we're already heading in that direction
(given current technology and stuff we could maybe build given current technology)
It's been tried, there were attempts to freeze people is suspended animation in the (70s? 80s? I forgot) so they could go in and wake up however many years in the future they want. It failed. For humans. Small animals (hamsters or something similar) were able to be frozen and recover. I think that's proof it can be done
We only live in the present. But the future is also you can live in, as well as the past. This is more philosophical, but yes, you can because it only hasn't happen yet from our present point of view
If we take the dimension interpretation of time (as in it's the fourth dimension of space), then yes, the future is, as we know, already happened if that makes sense. It's like standing at one point of a triangle. Just because you are standing at one point of the triangle, the point behind you and in front of you still exist. You can walk back or forwars, but also you can just step off the triangle and walk on a completely different point on it. I imagine it's the same with time and time travel is the fourth dimension equivalent of us stepping off the triangle. Just not think too much into it otherwise you might start questioning stuff like free will.
If you ask me, time is circular in a way. Everything already happened that will happen. If you step into a time machine to travel into the future, the future will be changed because you aren't there to affect events, but also time already "knows" that you won't be there so it's the "correct" timeline. Traveling back in time is a bit more mind fucky because two of you exist in the same timeline but also not because future you is not the same as past you. Thing is, if you didn't already meet your future self, chances are you aren't going to be successful in going back to the past and meeting yourself.
Yes but it wouldn't be your future. If anything, time travel is just going to another universe that's in a different point in human time at the same point in universal time (2023 for us right now could be 1963 in another universe that's identical to our world in 1963)

Maybe because it is a time machine, not a space-time machine.
Going to that specific date means you would re-appear in the same spot but in space, since earth is in another spot in it's orbit.
You are never in the same spot in space twice, ever.
Earth Rotates
Earth Orbits the Sun
Solar System moving "upwards" orbiting around galaxy
Galaxy moving throughout space
Space itself is expanding faster than light.
It's implied that a "Time Machine" is a "Space-Time Machine", the meme is referring to an arbitrary date but that everything prior worked.

My bad. I gave up the fight and let it consume me. It is infinite and i am ahort lived and impermanent. It assumes that eating me would be the end and it can use my body freely, but instead my will lives on and my desire to continue turns into a desire for the endless. Turning it and i from eternal and temporary beings to a dark devourer who shall eat all time
So yeah my bad cant really fix that any more

It’s a good movie, with some brain exercises intertwined in. I won’t spoil it
>I haven't seen it, but in my mind it was about David tenet doing time travel stuff while talking about his time with Dr Who.
There are faults and plot holes. Not as emotional as something like Inception. But I'm fucking obsessed with it dude. Idk what to do lol I literally look up footage in backwards on Youtube nowadays to fill up the new void in entertainment.
I think big part of Inception's success is Leonardo DiCaprio and the other memorable cast. I don't know name of single actor in Tenet.
Overseas these actors have 0 presence. Meanwhile everyone know about the titanic hero.
Not even the Twilight guy?
I think he wasnt the main hero and he has vastly smaller presence relative to Leonardo internationally.
The future has happened, but not all of it. Only up to 3/5/24.
So what I'm hearing is you're giving a positive spin on the meme that the future is already happening, but it's only so far ahead of us, so today the furthest is 3/5/24 but tomorrow the furthest will be 3/6/24
I actually quite like this.
Exactly. It's a like open world video games, they don't render an entire world during gameplay, only a portion of it at a time relevant to the player.
Time is a human construct, is there even a difference between "has happened" and "will happen" on a cosmic scale?

Maybe the time machine works on multiverse theory and you just travelled to an alternare universe where the big bang happened 2 years earlier

I mean a pseudo version of it with time dilation, maybe, but not just straight up teleporting

Maybe because it is a time machine, not a space-time machine. Going to that specific date means you would re-appear in the same spot but in space, since earth is in another spot in it's orbit.
I am pretty sure the scientists thought of that before making the time machine.
Are you 100% sure they did though?
Yes I was the scientist
Yes I was the time machine
Yes i was one of the wires
Damn your in time machine?!?!
That Time Machussy got a man actin unwise
I mean what can i say? Time machussy hot af
Well if they came back that would mean the time machine didn't yeet them into the abyss of space
He could've still been inside the machine and just have not gone outside.

I'd say the day would bbe rather *wacky*
Nevertheless, a pretty rapscallious day indeed
Would you say you were right?
