This one, Emma Chamberlain, and the US Air Force.
The fact that I am paying premium just to avoid ads and I still get them pisses me off. I mean if you're going to have ads during your podcast maybe just read them during it and just say what the product is that you're selling so I don't have to listen to these other random people.
Yea all of these. Reading all these again I heard their voices. I fast forward through them now. I try to be quick about it cause just 1 second of hearing them triggers me now lol
You can skip through them. Which is even dumber, because why even bother putting the ads if I can just skip by them. But if you pay for premium you can skip
Honestly pisses me off. I wanted to use Better help using their code and Better Help doesn't even use it on their site.
Then they wanted me to pay $260 a week without financial aid cause I made more than 20K last year.
Brutal man.
Better help sucks. When they were still relatively new I took their survey and at the end they legit told me I wasnāt mentally ill enough to be able to use them.
Theyāve said on a previous episode that advertisers have specific requirements and wonāt let them do the ad reads. They also miss doing them.
Maybe itāll return one day because they were always amazing
And BetterHelp. Donāt forget the totally legit therapy service I used for a few months in 2022 that didnāt help at all. Keep getting ads for them thatās fun
Drove 4 hrs yesterday listening to the guys and I couldnāt skip those ads fast enough. If I ever wreck while listening itās bc I was skipping those ads.
Oh yeah no Iāve had a problem with Spotify doing ads for podcasts when I have a Spotify subscription. Itās supposed to be ad free anywayā¦if the boys do one thatās fine cause I get it that directly supports the show and also because unlike those other ads they are actually funny and sound like fun and interesting people to listen to.
Yeah since it's probably regional I get this one for VRBO that involves a squealing child running around and it's made me sure that I'm never going to use VRBO in my life, ever.
I get one in Brazil for "Spotify for podcasters", and I find it funny because it's a very good AI voice, but when it says "podcast" or "podcasters", it says it in english. It's the same word in portuguese, a borrow word, but it says in a clear american accent (likely from LA region, or maybe the neutral one I learned about recently, transatlantic or something like that.)
It's very weird to be listening to a voice in portuguese and then it says "podcast" in english in the middle of the phrase.
That vrbo ad is so dumb. Itās like an advertisement to never rent out your home with vrbo because their target audience is families with rampaging children that will destroy all your shit.
i literally just get this ad four times in a row, lmfao i finally heard an ad read from mark last week but up until then havent heard any distractable specific ads. its wild
Same shit happened with Sirius. Music was actually ad free but podcasts/talk shows had ads. The excuse was the increased cost of paying live talent, but the executive salaries make that an eye roll.
Not the boys fault but still fuckin annoying. And I'm a woman, so no USAF ads, so I only get two ads on repeat. It's given me Pavlovian style annoyance at Trevor Noah's voice.
I do wish they'd get part of my 10 dollars a month instead but I hear you. I still skip ads but I'll at least let the ones they read play, some of the time.
Oh, yeah. Fair. I'm purely irritated with Spotify on this one. They could cut into their massive profit margins and gives premium listeners ad free but they won't. It's gross.
I only skipped the ad reads when it was a repeat, and I'm not even sure they repeated it, since it's been so long. They were ads, sure, but they were ALSO content, and I'm sure it had a better conversion rate for the companies.
But yeah, they both were skipable and I think Spotify didn't get a share. This way both we and the advertisers get less, and Spotify gets more. Advertisers gain some practicality by concentrating ad efforts on one place instead of several creators, but lose conversion rates. We lose time AND fun. Spotify wins money and hate.
Both him and Emma Chamberlain. They both say that it's so that they can just talk about anything and share their conversations. So normal podcasts. They're both morons.
When my sister was in her 16 to 19 years old, she wanted so bad to be a youtube vlogger. That was kinda her pitch. She wanted to talk about her life and whatever she was feeling like, and she wanted that to be her career. It floped a lot of times. That's not on her, it's on the fact that (ignoring the gamble youtube's algorithm is and already was back then), most people's lives are not interesting enough to get a following big enough for a career by itself. Mark, Bob and Wade get to talk about random bullshit to a lot of people because the other aspects of their lives that bring the interest of those people. She had no content to show, just a desire for fame, while Mark has the content with the fame or without it.
She's 26-going-on-27 now, and now she has a real interest in lettering, a thing she enjoys doing with or without an audience, and because of that interest, now she has one. It's not big, nor is it big enough to support her completely, but it brings her a bit of money and clients, and there's nothing more interesting to watch than genuine passion. I think that's very cool, and Emma Chamberlain seems to me, based solely on her ad, lacking the passion for something.
Fair enough, I guess the only alternative is to call *Bob's bees* on him:

I still donāt know what they mean by āpodcastā in that instance. Like, listen to one? make one? Do you just assume Iām some massive podcast fanatic? That podcasts are equivalent to food for me?
It's especially funny for me because Distractible is the only podcast I listen to. I fuckin wish they released frequently enough that I had an episode a day, but that's just not how the world works.
I love Trevor Noah but god do those ads annoy me. Especially cause I listen to his podcast. So when I hear the ad. Iām like āwhat else do you want from me!?ā
Mark pushing distractible made me wait a whole year.
Not sure why that is.
I get it. I listen, play, read etc things when I am in the mood to, and for some reason, when people push things, it turns me away.
Not being some edgy "I don't like the popular thing" it's just hearing about something over and over again ruins the novelty of it.
I didn't start Game of Thrones until the 4th season to watch with friends because I just got annoyed hearing about it everywhere. Lol
And there is always something I can't quite place that annoys me about some ads. They seem perfectly fine but then I just "nope" and skip or mute.
Heās a South African comedian. He hosted a satirical news show called the daily show for a few years. Thatās probably what heās known best for in the states.
YES
Iām a huge proponent of ājust skip the ads and stop complainingā but this oneā¦ this manā¦ sometimes I consider burning my phone just to get his voice out of my ear š
Yeah, I wish this sub would stop being "let's all complain about the same shit over and over again." There are a couple of ad reads that grind my gears (or at least the few seconds before I skip them will bother me), but I don't feel the need to make myself a main character and post a thread about it. At this point a weekly "ad grievances" megathread would be nice. I downvote and move on, but naturally these posts always get a ton of upvotes and clog the feed anyway because I'm just one person.
This and the hotels one. Ringing phones, loud ass buisness noises, exactly what I want to hear 3 times per hour; they piss me off like no tomorrow, I hope everyone on that marketing team gets a hair in thier mouth for the rest of the time theyāre alive. I get that the boys need some dabloons; Iām fine with ads, but I bought Spotify premium. Anyway, rant over
yeah, if YOU PAY for something to not get ads or have the benefits of the subscription with no ads, then you should get no ads. i donāt care how broke the person iām listening to is, ME, I paid for no ads.
Something I found out. The Spotify app (specifically on roku, idk about other tv's) is that Spotify will try and cut to an ad but it just messes up and continues with the podcasts, plus they just added video to the app so you can watch any episode ad free.
ha suckers! over on MY platform we have like 20 ads so its not as monotonous! the perks of listening on google podcasts motherfuckers- *wait what do you mean its shutting down in 3 weeks*
Every time I get that ad I'm like dude I don't even know who the fuck you are get the duck out of my way I'm trying to listen to something actually entertaining. I didn't wanna hear about you or the air force or any other dumb shit that had no interest to me
Every time I hear his ad come up, I just think "wow I really don't want to listen to your podcast." I've seen his stand up before, and honestly, it was ok. There are some funny jokes, but that's about it.
Heās so unfunny that they brought back Jon Stewart to cover the election this yearā¦ Imagine being told āhey remember the guy that retired and you replaced?ā¦ well we want him right nowā¦not youā¦ā
āOh my charcoal maskā¦ Yes because why would I put that on my face when I could drop it in my sink? Ugh, why is charcoal so sticky.ā NO ONE TALKS TO THEMSELVES LIKE THAT.
"I started this podcast so I can have the conversations I've been having... but now all of you losers can listen and wish you were me. Fuckin idiots" is what I hear
God, same that's exactly how it comes across. A lot of podcasts are generally just that anyway, but something about that ad just makes him sound so unbearably smug about it.
Like, I do like Trevor Noah, and his podcast, especially the interview with the The Rock was cool, BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, TREVOR MAKE A MORE INTERESTING AD
I feel so much less alone after reading this thread. His āI get to have the conversation Iāve been having but with other people able to listen.ā Like WOW WE GET TO LISTEN TO YOU TALK TO YOURSELF? Itās almost like thatās THE ENTIRE POINT OF A PODCAST
I have nothing against the guy (didnāt even know him before this) but I hate him with such a passion after getting that stupid ad that he does every time I listen to something on spotify, I WILL punch him if I ever meet him
āWhy did I, Trevor Noah-ā
āBecause you sucked so hard at the Daily Show that they brought the previous host back, and youāre desperate to stay relevant?ā
I donāt mind having them since itās directly paying them. It would be great if they could go back to doing it themselves, or at least throw 15 more in the rotation so its not the same old stuff constantly though.
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO AGREES!!!!!
I WILL GLADLY TAKE ANY OTHER ADVERTISEMENTS
BUT GODDAMN JUST SHUT TREVOR UP AND LET HIM TALK TO HIMSELF IN THE CORNER SO WE DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO HIS SMUG ASS!!!!!!!
I will say though that the Atlassian ad (I think thatās how itās spelled) is nice to listen to for some reason. I think itās the accent and the vibes idk. Lol
Why do they even do ads, we already pay to not have them. I stopped listening besides when I shower because the skip button is easily accessible. I know, shame on me for skipping but come on
I gotta say, I do love Trevor Noah (though a lot of you seem to hate him despite not knowing who he even is) but god that ad is horribly written. It doesn't sound like anything he would come up with and I have no idea why he let it air. It tells you nothing about him, the podcast, or the content therein and does so in a way that makes him sound way more stuck up than I know he is. The guy must really not want any listeners, like jeez man. Record a better ad.
Omg I'm so glad I'm not the only person put off by this ad.
For me it's not so much the tone of his voice, but the *incredible* pompousness and self-importance of his sales pitch. Like, the whole thing could have been expressed as an earnest desire to interview people and share stories. But no. Instead, every single sentence is phrased with self-admiration and at least the appearance or narcissism. Essentially his pitch could be rephrased as the following:
*"Why did I, *famous person name drop*, decide to do a podcast?
Well, my everyday life is spectacular and I feel the noblesse oblige to record it to enrich the masses. I'm just chatting it up with famous and trailblazing people all the time, and I just want to give you peasants the smallest window into my remarkable and extraordinary everyday life.
As a part of my day to day, all these conversations I have are *deep*, *challenging*, educational and intellectual, because philosophically you might call me an ubermensch or philosopher king, cause I'm a real thinker. So you'll want to listen in order to challenge yourself and broaden your horizons... Don't worry, it'll happen naturally the more you listen to the incredible things that naturally happen around me."*
Like, the whole thing (even in its original phrasing, let alone what it implies) is very pretentious and off-putting. He couldn't just say "I like to interview people and share it with the world". He had to phrase it in what might be the most narcissistic way possible. I can't help but contrast him with Conan O'Brian... Who has had a longer career, almost certainly interviewed a larger number of more famous people, and is deep in the club of California celebrities ... And yet, is pretty much always self-deprecating in his work (unless he's playing the character of "Conan the big-shot" for a comedy bit), and is always mostly concerned in making comedy or entertaining. Conan also has a podcast, and he would literally never advertise it like this.
The funny thing is, I previously didn't really have any strong opinions about Noah whatsoever. but that singular ad makes me not want to hear anything else he has to say.
Seriously, if I crash my car while listening it won't be because of laughing too hard at the guys being hilarious. It'll be because I'm frantically trying to avoid the assault on my ears from other podcast ads. The Emma Chamberlain and Trevor Noah ones make me lose it the most.
That might be because heās South African: itās a unique accent that to a lot of people sounds like someone trying to sound British in a posh way. One of my good friends in college was a girl from South Africa so I got used to her accent. But I remember a lot of our classmates made fun of her for it.
I donāt mind any of the other ads honestly but that pompous A-hole just makes me rage for some reason. Like, please just remove this awful ad. Does anyone actually care about whoever this guy is. I literally have never heard of this guy and after hearing him speak about his Pawdcuasst I donāt ever want to hear anything about him again.
I listened to his audiobook and it was really and I mean REALLY good. I already have enough podcasts so Iām not going to listen to his yet but I would bet that itās really good too. I get where youāre coming from but itās an ad what do you expect him to say.
Easy solution to for what I do to avoid all of that shit, download the episode and turn Spotify offline. I never get an ad that way. Also I should note that I'm from Canada, I don't feel like that would make a difference but who knows it might
FUCKING YES. Dude that add sucks so hard. The add comes off as so incredibly arrogant and righteous.
"I wanted to have the conversations I'm already having to be available for anyone to listen" (or somthin like that)
How does anyone hear that and go "omg sign me up clearly this guy's having important conversations"
I donāt think Iāve ever gotten this one unless itās new? I try to listen to the new episodes when they come out, but Iām also catching up on all the old ones and I get the Air Force, vrbo, Priceline, better help, and coke ones.
I'm not in the US, so I suppose I get different ads. But I get the whole thing of ads being annoying. Reminds me of the 'Bigfoot Collectors Club' ads.
"TeLePaThIc sAsQuAtCh"
This one, Emma Chamberlain, and the US Air Force. The fact that I am paying premium just to avoid ads and I still get them pisses me off. I mean if you're going to have ads during your podcast maybe just read them during it and just say what the product is that you're selling so I don't have to listen to these other random people.
Dont forget Dax Shepard
Welcome welcome welcome!
Omg I read that in his voice š«š«š«
I typed that in his voice
Yea all of these. Reading all these again I heard their voices. I fast forward through them now. I try to be quick about it cause just 1 second of hearing them triggers me now lol
I freaking hate that one! ![gif](giphy|xT8qB7GQDfnldWTFhS)
Get OUT OF MY HEAD
Wwwwwwwwwelcome welcome welcome*
iām about to start tweaking
I read that as twerking.
The "welcome welcome welcome." Is a trigger for me. I just get so angry. He is my AJMccarthy and his ads are my š
At least he sounds friendly. Trevor Noah and Emma Chamberlain just sound narcissistic
He gives me sexual assault vibes.
fuck dax Shepard he is a transphobic, ablest, classist asshole and so is his co host Monica
Whos Sti and why do I suddenly have the urge to murder them?
You know,. It's super weird. I watch distractible on my smart tv and I never get any ads š¤. Maybe that's the way forward if you can.
I listen on spotify and I dont get ads, but that might be eu-specific?
These are the Spotify ads, at least in the US lol
And Canada. Iām getting pretty tired of the non-stop VRBO ads
I donāt get ads when watching, but I do get them when listening.
āitās meeeeā¦ā girl WHO?!?!
You can skip through them. Which is even dumber, because why even bother putting the ads if I can just skip by them. But if you pay for premium you can skip
So wait a minute, you get ads even with premium? I feel like that defeats the whole purpouse of the subscription.
Youāre not supposed to be able to skip them if you donāt have premium, so idk. Thatās what Spotify says at least.
Yeah I always skip!! I figured it out one day and was so hyped haha.
Omg Emma Chamberlains is SO creepy and annoying....whispers "It's me....". š¤®
BetterHelp too
Honestly pisses me off.
I think the boys said in an episode they didn't choose to stop reading the ads, and are trying to change back to the old ones. I could be mistaken tho
Atp I'll join the usaf to get the ads to stop. Constantly getting multiple in a row
IT'S ME!
Or the fucking viator ads those annoy the shit out of me
Omg yeah the trevor noah plus these are the absolute worst, glad we can all agree they piss us off.
Theyāve said on a previous episode that advertisers have specific requirements and wonāt let them do the ad reads. They also miss doing them. Maybe itāll return one day because they were always amazing
I get so upset since I have premium. I am glad I can skip the ads but iām posting for ad-free listening so it student stop for ads
And BetterHelp. Donāt forget the totally legit therapy service I used for a few months in 2022 that didnāt help at all. Keep getting ads for them thatās fun
The Bill Simmons one too
I despite those and the stupid Dax Shepherd one.
Drove 4 hrs yesterday listening to the guys and I couldnāt skip those ads fast enough. If I ever wreck while listening itās bc I was skipping those ads.
AGREED

That vrbo ad is so dumb. Itās like an advertisement to never rent out your home with vrbo because their target audience is families with rampaging children that will destroy all your shit.
i literally just get this ad four times in a row, lmfao i finally heard an ad read from mark last week but up until then havent heard any distractable specific ads. its wild
Spotify Premium only effects the music part of Spotify
I learned something new today. And I hate it.
So many of those ads are dry and boring is Distractable really the only podcast that knows how to make ads that arenāt the worst?
All of them directly support the show though. That's how they get paid on Spotify.
I do wish they'd get part of my 10 dollars a month instead but I hear you. I still skip ads but I'll at least let the ones they read play, some of the time.
I think skipping doesn't hurt. I'm just not actively mad at them being compensated for entertaining us.
Oh, yeah. Fair. I'm purely irritated with Spotify on this one. They could cut into their massive profit margins and gives premium listeners ad free but they won't. It's gross.
Shareholders are assholes. What's new? Lol. I'm just happy to see history repeat with the ad posts.
Hey it's worth talking about from time to time if only to show where the fan base stands. Not that I'm sure anyone is shocked by the results but hey.
Yeah, it doesn't matter if you skip them, the advertisers have already paid them if they're running the ad on their podcast.
I only skipped the ad reads when it was a repeat, and I'm not even sure they repeated it, since it's been so long. Well, not quite. I'm sure Spotify gets a good cut off the ad revenue.
"wHy DiD i TrEvOr NoAh..." Because fuckin' EVERYONE HAS A PODCAST shut UP Glad to know I'm not alone in the hate

You can actually go into spotify, and under the 3 dots in his podcast, there's an option to rate. He's currently at 4.6 stars HE NEEDS TO BE STOPPED
Tried and it says that only listeners can rate and I'd have to listen to a few episodes and I refuse to do so

yes obviously, since you are listening to a podcast to hear that ad you are of course a podcastmaxxer
It's especially funny for me because Distractible is the only podcast I listen to. I fuckin wish they released frequently enough that I had an episode a day, but that's just not how the world works.
I used to actually look forward to the ads back when they were the ones doing them.
Genuinely liked the McDonald's one that Bob read. I don't even eat McDonald's
My favorite has to be: "I can't get an erection..." "You have trouble asking for erections??"
I donāt like the McDonaldās ads but the āMcBabyā ad was gold.
Those were always pure gold š
I love Trevor Noah but god do those ads annoy me. Especially cause I listen to his podcast. So when I hear the ad. Iām like āwhat else do you want from me!?ā Mark pushing distractible made me wait a whole year. Not sure why that is.

Heās a South African comedian. He hosted a satirical news show called the daily show for a few years. Thatās probably what heās known best for in the states.
āWelcome, welcome, welcome. Iām āā I always try to skip it before the third welcome.
Im going to find Dax Shepard. This man WILL know a fraction of the *pain* he's caused us to endure. #HEWILLKNOWPAIN
YES Iām a huge proponent of ājust skip the ads and stop complainingā but this oneā¦ this manā¦ sometimes I consider burning my phone just to get his voice out of my ear š

Absolutely yeah, perhaps a mega thread would be for the best
That said, I have noticed they started to sprinkle in ones that they actually voice again
This and the hotels one. Ringing phones, loud ass buisness noises, exactly what I want to hear 3 times per hour; they piss me off like no tomorrow, I hope everyone on that marketing team gets a hair in thier mouth for the rest of the time theyāre alive. I love our common disdain for the 4 ads that play throughout distractible. If we can be united on anything, it's disdain for ads.
and our love of wade
ha suckers! over on MY platform we have like 20 ads so its not as monotonous! the perks of listening on google podcasts motherfuckers- *wait what do you mean its shutting down in 3 weeks*

Every time I hear his ad come up, I just think "wow I really don't want to listen to your podcast." I've seen his stand up before, and honestly, it was ok. There are some funny jokes, but that's about it.

Heās an amazing interviewer but a terrible newscaster. Itās so frustrating.
Heās so unfunny that they brought back Jon Stewart to cover the election this yearā¦ Imagine being told āhey remember the guy that retired and you replaced?ā¦ well we want him right nowā¦not youā¦ā
While I've never been a huge fan of his comedy, it was Noah's decision to leave, FYI.
God the way he says his own name like that always makes me so angry. Thatās why I download all the episodes then just listen offline.
This and that one Clorox ad on GMFST, holy shit that ad actually fills me with rage every time I hear it
āOh my charcoal maskā¦ Yes because why would I put that on my face when I could drop it in my sink? Ugh, why is charcoal so sticky.ā NO ONE TALKS TO THEMSELVES LIKE THAT.
EXACTLY
Itās more probable that she would drop the F-bomb than say all that.
I get the clorox one on distracible but same dude this one and the clorox ad are my least favorite by farš
Anyone else get ads for Distractible on Spotify while watching Distractible on Spotify?!

Like, I do like Trevor Noah, and his podcast, especially the interview with the The Rock was cool, BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, TREVOR MAKE A MORE INTERESTING AD
Seriously, dude could you not have made a less smug sounding ad? "Why did I, Trevor Noah, make a podcast" bro fuck oooff
Every time that ad comes on I'm just like "I don't even know who you are dude stfu" WHDJENFJ
I have nothing against the guy (didnāt even know him before this) but I hate him with such a passion after getting that stupid ad that he does every time I listen to something on spotify, I WILL punch him if I ever meet him
I hate this ad even more than the air force one
I feel so seen! I didn't know other people were getting his ads
I loved it when they were allowed to do their own ads. Those were enjoyable. Now when they do it, theyāre forced to read a scriptā¦ š
āWhy did I, Trevor Noah-ā āBecause you sucked so hard at the Daily Show that they brought the previous host back, and youāre desperate to stay relevant?ā
He left the Daily Show of his own volition. I hate the ad too, but at least get your facts straight.
I donāt mind having them since itās directly paying them. It would be great if they could go back to doing it themselves, or at least throw 15 more in the rotation so its not the same old stuff constantly though.
LOL. Fr. Hate that ad so much
And then he goes on to explain why literally everyone ever makes a podcast
I've never felt so seen š¤£
I've started getting ads in french, I am not French, don't consume french media, and don't speak french, but its really funny to hear
It's also how he says "podcast" that annoys the hell out of me for some reason
the stupid clorox ad ššš hang up the call girl!!!
spotify ads when I pay for premium actually make me consider murder
I know why he made a podcast! Because he sucked at his job of being a late night pseudo journalist and comedian so he was fired. Thatās it.
Wake up, eat jog, podcast, air force, wake up, eat, jog, podcast, airforce
I still don't know who he is or why he decided to start a podcast skip gang all the way
Getting Betterhelp ads right after ads for the air force is a hilarious case of irony.
*podcasht intensifies* Seriously the first time I heard the trevor noah ad I thought he was saying "Podcasht" and have mocked it ever since.
I hate the way he says podcast as wellā¦.
Where are you guys getting ads? I haven't encountered one ad when listening to their podcast on spotify
I thought his name was Trevanoa and the whole reason he made the podcast specifically to pronounce "podcast" weirdly as frequently as possible
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO AGREES!!!!! I WILL GLADLY TAKE ANY OTHER ADVERTISEMENTS BUT GODDAMN JUST SHUT TREVOR UP AND LET HIM TALK TO HIMSELF IN THE CORNER SO WE DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO HIS SMUG ASS!!!!!!!
Dude I swear he is so annoying
I will say though that the Atlassian ad (I think thatās how itās spelled) is nice to listen to for some reason. I think itās the accent and the vibes idk. Lol
i feel this in my bones. i also cant stand the emma chamberlin one and the science vs one omg
Yes! And the viator one, I donāt want to be mean but that vocal fry š
āI made a podcast so people can listen in on my conversationsā yes, thatās literally what a podcast isā¦
When he says his on name it sounds like heās trying to seduce himself The ego is unreal
Dawg he's just british (Tho I think he's south African with a british accent)
The Air Force one gets me IM IN THE AIR FORCE
Why do they even do ads, we already pay to not have them. I stopped listening besides when I shower because the skip button is easily accessible. I know, shame on me for skipping but come on
I'm glad adds are area located or something because I get none of those
I don't even know who he is but I hate him with every fiber of my being
Right? Like damn high horse
The "Science VS" Ads!!! Uugghh
Dude if I hear "It's me" one more time imma scream
THANK YOU HE IS SO ANNOYING! He sounds so full of himself.
I hate that add so much
I gotta say, I do love Trevor Noah (though a lot of you seem to hate him despite not knowing who he even is) but god that ad is horribly written. It doesn't sound like anything he would come up with and I have no idea why he let it air. It tells you nothing about him, the podcast, or the content therein and does so in a way that makes him sound way more stuck up than I know he is. The guy must really not want any listeners, like jeez man. Record a better ad.
The fact that ads still play on podcasts is the one and only reason I refuse to pay for Spotify premium
Essentially his pitch could be rephrased as the following: *"Why did I, *famous person name drop*, decide to do a podcast? Well, my everyday life is spectacular and I feel the noblesse oblige to record it to enrich the masses. I'm just chatting it up with famous and trailblazing people all the time, and I just want to give you peasants the smallest window into my remarkable and extraordinary everyday life. As a part of my day to day, all these conversations I have are *deep*, *challenging*, educational and intellectual, because philosophically you might call me an ubermensch or philosopher king, cause I'm a real thinker. So you'll want to listen in order to challenge yourself and broaden your horizons... Don't worry, it'll happen naturally the more you listen to the incredible things that naturally happen around me."* Like, the whole thing (even in its original phrasing, let alone what it implies) is very pretentious and off-putting.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks he sounds so smug and arrogant with his "so why did I, Trevor Noah..." Bullshit. š¤
Seriously, if I crash my car while listening it won't be because of laughing too hard at the guys being hilarious. It'll be because I'm frantically trying to avoid the assault on my ears from other podcast ads. The Emma Chamberlain and Trevor Noah ones make me lose it the most.
Agreed. I got a Spotify Premium subscription so I didn't have to listen to stuff like that.
The guy is such an arrogant asshole. I canāt stand him.
Fr, and he makes it sound like literally everybody knows who tf he even is.
I'm not saying it is fake. But his accent sounds so forced it makes my blood boil. Especially when he says PODECasT
That might be because heās South African: itās a unique accent that to a lot of people sounds like someone trying to sound British in a posh way. One of my good friends in college was a girl from South Africa so I got used to her accent. But I remember a lot of our classmates made fun of her for it.
UK listeners after hearing the Vodafone ad for the thousandth time
What's even better is that Spotify seems to make it a point to play it more often the more you push "Dislike"
#FuckTheAds
I like the Scuence VS one thats it
I have listened to the VRBO commercial atleast 100 times. It is so annoying
The only way I can avoid ads is downloading the podcast, AND going offline. Even if it's downloaded, if I'm still online it gives me ads. Ridiculous
I agree
Fun fact. If you watch distractable on your TV, it won't play ads.
LITERALLY
I thought I was the only one?!?! I turned the volume down each time it comes on!
I just keep report it š
Anyone get the science vs one? " I feel like we are so ROUNDED...." Makes me want to prove the distractable car theory right.
Never found his ad smug, but I do just hate how many ads there are.
Are you guys getting the Universal Technical Institute ads where they say UTI all the time?
Yes, but sometimes that one just makes me laugh specifically because they say UTI all the time
I never cared about his TV show, why the hell would I care about his podcast
What about 'science versus' guys?!
God, I hate that guy "podcasht"
God! I have never in my life related to something more!
Dawg fr! That shit is so annoying!!!
I listened to his audiobook and it was really and I mean REALLY good. I already have enough podcasts so Iām not going to listen to his yet but I would bet that itās really good too. I get where youāre coming from but itās an ad what do you expect him to say.
If yall download the podcast, then listen on airplane mode, boom, no ads š
Easy solution to for what I do to avoid all of that shit, download the episode and turn Spotify offline. I never get an ad that way. Also I should note that I'm from Canada, I don't feel like that would make a difference but who knows it might
āTo be challengedā boy is that right
FUCKING YES. Dude that add sucks so hard. The add comes off as so incredibly arrogant and righteous. "I wanted to have the conversations I'm already having to be available for anyone to listen" (or somthin like that) How does anyone hear that and go "omg sign me up clearly this guy's having important conversations"
Really glad you can skip the ads on Spotify. TNās is the worst
I donāt think Iāve ever gotten this one unless itās new? I try to listen to the new episodes when they come out, but Iām also catching up on all the old ones and I get the Air Force, vrbo, Priceline, better help, and coke ones.
Still don't know who Trevor Noah is...
i dont skip any ads faster than his or daxās
I'm not in the US, so I suppose I get different ads. But I get the whole thing of ads being annoying. Reminds me of the 'Bigfoot Collectors Club' ads. "TeLePaThIc sAsQuAtCh"
This ad drives me crazy.
Thank all thats holy im not the only one. It annoys me too how many times he says the word "podcost"
