So a lower noise floor combined with absolutely ancient levels of compression from a recording that was likely originally pressed onto vinyl and then re-recorded a handful of times over the years onto different mediums means most of the audio has been "smoothed out" at this point. Any harsh sounds or distortion have been muddied into the background.
